No refund policy received!
Complaint Rating: 86 % with 35 votes
I dropped out of high school due to some medical/depression reasons and when i finally got things back to normal i decided to try getting my degree (high school diploma) from an online university to cut down the stress level. I search around for online schools to get your ged/diploma belford high school kept popping up so i was i'll check into it, the site seemed very professional and legit. It also included passing four levels of studies, which i thought that was just the first part of the school process but after entering all my information (credit card info, address... Etc.) it popped up with your order has been placed. Thats when i got skeptical, how can you earn a degree after completing four test? It can't be accredited? I sent an email asking if it wasn't accepted how would i go about getting a refund, they sent me an email back saying that it's a hassle less problem, i sent them an email a few day's later requesting a refund on my illegal diploma, they replied that they have a no refund policy after received.

What can I do?

I also was looking for a life experience degree and came across Belford university. Apparently there are several universities they run online and quite frankly they are quite expensive.

I continued my search and then met a friend who suggested getting a degree from Brixton university.com was probably the most affordable and efficient.

The degree is based on your life experience, basically things you have done in your life, courses, seminars and other education is taken into consideration before you are approved for a degree.

I ordered mine and received it within weeks. The degree is affordable from brixton university and also recognized by an accredited body.

Good Luck

With respect to Brixton University, they never respond or even allow email to get true via their website.

No offense to any of you, but Brixton University is a ridiculous joke. "Life experience" credits? Come on. That's not how you get a degree. Any intelligent employer will laugh you out of his/her office or fire you immediately upon learning these schools are degree mills who rip you off and give you a fake degree. Have some self respect. There's no easy way around it. Why do you think you can get a degree so easily when everyone else has to work for it? You have to work for it because you actually have to LEARN something to get the degree. Go get your GED, there's no easy way to get a high school diploma. Stop being so lazy. You people infuriate me. Being lazy will only make you look like a moron to people who have a brain.

In addition, this was found online to prove my point:

These institutions are either offering degrees or degree programs in British Columbia or are offering degrees or degree programs elsewhere but are based in British Columbia. None of these institutions is currently permitted to grant degrees, offer degree programs or call themselves a university by the Government of British Columbia under the provisions of the Degree Authorization Act, and therefore are operating unlawfully in the province.

* Brixton University (Washington State officials report that this bogus institution uses a mailbox in downtown Vancouver) - Private, For-Profit

Yep. You got scammed. Stop looking for the easy solution, act like an adult, I'm assuming you are. Do the work, get the degree. No amount of money can buy you a life experience degree. That's BS.

Thanks for the advise you are right their is no other way a of getting a diploma without earning it with hard work. A couple of months ago i was looking for scams on belford high school and found nothing but today when i was about to call them and complete the order i decided to check again and found out it was a big mistake trying to fool myself. So starting tomorrow i will go back to the GED school and try a little harder instead of giving money away to people that don't deserve it...

That is really funny. I bet this was written up by belford. i obtained a degree from Brixton, and it was received promptly. so the clown who says he did not get it it obviously was some dumb fuck who was not approved due to his stupidityt.

Morons get a life

Okay i have read the complaints, and some people obviously need a degree for their work experience.

You also have the morons like adela harris and cynthia who say you should not get a life experience degree.

They may have the privilege of fine upbringinging and able to afford university, but what about people who get on the job experience and probably can do a better job then someone with a real degree? don't they deserve some kind of recognition? This is why life experience degrees are available, and for your information, i did order from Brixton University, and they are located in the UK not BC and i was very happy with their services. I received my life experience degree and it does not even say it is life experience.

The other place i ordered from was belford, and still waiting for my degree, but either way it is worth it. Better to pay three to four hundred dollars then pay tens of thousands and it has the same qualification. Any moron who spends tens of thousands of dollars should have their had examined just to get a piece of paper.

Stop “Your Diploma Here” Belford High School! You see, my step-dad went online trying to see if he could take the GED test online (bad move I know) well he found one, http://belfordhighschool.com. The website looks so legit it is sicking. Well needless to say, my parents fell for it. They now have $249.00 of my mom’s money along with her debit card information. So I’m here just trying to spread the word about such horrible web-sites. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR SUCH THINGS!!!

Here's the real kicker: Yes Belford or Brixton or whomever are fraudulent. Any School claiming you can "earn" a diploma or whatever is a fake. Those of you who actually believe it is legit are fools and deserve the embarrassment of being laughed out of a school or job interview! Not to mention the money you stupidly threw away. But IF you do understand the risks involved you can actually use these "credentials" to your advantage. You see it's all a matter of determining what you are willing to pay both in cash and in self esteem for a piece of paper that YOU will now use "fraudulently" to hopefully attain a job or acceptance into a college or university you would not have otherwise been able to. There will be no charges laid. You may risk laughter or even getting dismissed from your job years later as an employer has the right to dismiss you at any point for falsely representing yourself on a resume or application. But these are the risks you weigh ahead of time against having to actually shell out thousands of dollars and likely years of time that you may not have. If you are going to shell out the money you had at least be aware of what it is you are going to get yourself into. I do suggest that if you do go this route and you get a job that you take the time either at nights or on weekends to actually get a legitimate diploma from somewhere eventually! Things have a way of catching up with you when you least expect it to. Good luck you all that have to make this decision!

On a side note this site offers grammar and spell check so it it beyond me how many of you (including actual scholars) cannot spell or formulate even remotely correct sentences. And for those of you wondering about "life experience diplomas" they don't really exist unless you're quite lucky and happen to have experienced an array of things in your time on this earth. Although many real schools do offer credits towards diplomas or certificates for some life experiences, the remaining credits however you WILL have to earn.

REALLY REALLY INTRESTING QUESTION.

OK question going ot to all of you about these Online universities...one that has NOT APPEARED before!!!

I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ALL YOUR COMMENTS - Good or Bad!!!

Jonnybegood has completely 3 years of a 3 year university course at Accredited University institutions in the UK. (AKA : 'Red Brick' - or if you like 'Ivy League' if you are American!)

He attended his first year and completed all his exams at one UK university. Year 1 complete and passed and Acredited by a 'Red Brick' University.

He attended his second year and completed all his exams at another UK university. Year 2 complete and passed and Acredited by a 'Red Brick' University.

He attended his third year and completed some of his exams at that same UK university. He was unable to attened all his exams due to complications. Year 3 is now deemed incomplete by the university and he therefore cannot get a degree from that university.

However he is deemed as having 2 years university credit from that institution.

According to rulings by the universities in question, he cannot go back to that university or the previous one to complete it.

He since then has aquired the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) Qualification and passed all 7 exams.

Presuamably I could gain 'credit' for my first 2 years and used 'credit' for my experience+Knowledge based exams for my MCSE to gain a degree.

(Side Note:

The MSCE by itself is 'considered' / 'officially recognised' as a Degree equivalent qualification in Sweden! and the Open University in the UK which has a worldwide reputation as being totally legit - will also give you upto half a years university credit - based on certain criteria - for MSCA exams, which is a lower than an MCSE)

Even if it where Accredited by one of these so called 'diploma mills' such as Ashwood /Belford or Brixton
(All of which comment that they will be at least able to credit it with a 'Bachelors Degree') Would it be a completely Legitimate qualification???

ALL of the EXAMS that APPEAR in the transcript would have been ACTUALLY taken and passed by JonnybeGood under test conditions at some point.

The Exams are legitamate the level and amount of study would be legitamate to that pertaining of a degree level study (Even though I got 100% in one exam - Trust me the MSCE is Hard!!!)

BUT does that make the so called 'degree' legitimate and 'accredited'?!?

What would the legal position on this be if it was used abroad to 'qualify' for work visa requirements.??

Johnny Be Good...

It is refreshing to see that someone has actually gone to school and "should" be considered a graduate or at least should have the right to go ahead and try to finish your last year or half year of school. Shame on the schools that exist that cannot allow people to get what they would have otherwise achieved if not for some of life's many obstacles. I mean after all you know more than anyone else how difficult it would be to jump in at this point years after and try to complete the last portion and yet YOU are willing and likely dieing to give it everything you have to succeed. Truly shameful if you ask me. I don't even care what had held you back back then. The sheer fact that you earned the first two years and are willing to put the work in now to complete it should be enough. Heck if you didn't succeed and you failed miserably it really is no skin off their backs. Beyond my comprehension...

I'll answer a few things now and ponder other possible solutions over the next while...

Pertaining to whether having some (or in your case a plethora) education actually legitimizes the diploma is just hopeful and wishful thinking. Believe you me with all my scattered education I'd love to legitimize more licenses or diplomas. Truth is there is nothing that would set you apart from the next guy with $xxx.xx . I understand the reasoning behind thinking this way but the simple answer is NO!

You would however have a better chance at retaining a job or "fitting in" if you did in fact surpass the whole interview process. Assuming you apply for a career that you ARE educated for. I mean think about all the people who do pass through the interview with this diploma but can't do anything remotely close to what is expected of even the greenest rookie. It likely doesn't take long for everyone to begin wondering what school this dork went to and either gets fired for incompetence or for lying about themselves. Depending upon the false qualifications this person could also end up causing an injury to themselves and or others as they "missed out" on some fundamental safety training that any accredited school would have provided.

I know that it's not much help as I assume you have thought about ways to get a degree or diploma for the work you have completed. I can't help but think that there has to be a way for you to be able to complete this or turn it or most of it into a degree of some other fashion or diploma. I am lucky as I recently went back to my old school and basically got awarded a "completion". 10 years had passed and even though I had a good reason for not finishing and was fully prepared to submit it, they didn't even ask! I'd like to think that someone out there could assist you. But if not and I were in your position I'd say "f*&* it!" and pay the bloody fee and get my fake diploma. I wouldn't brag about it nor show it off but I'd get it and I'd use it and hope to god it gets me in! And once in the door I'd work so hard at being so vital the the organization that if one day they ever did find out the truth that they would find it impossible to even think of letting me go. "Johnny-Be-Good" above most everyone else who would venture down this path stands the best chance of actually pulling this off... but it's still no slam-dunk.

But you just had to throw one more twist in the whole scenario and bring immigration into the whole mix. Thee most complicated, non-sensible and without a doubt out dated government department of any nation; immigration. And yes of this I also have first hand knowledge, not in particular your exact situation mind you and now I am curious about how that would pan out. I offer you only this for the time being; immigration officials in most countries are meticulous and take weeks to check the slightest piece of information. I am not certain but I am guessing that some countries would not look kindly upon lying on a work visa application and MAY never grant you a visa in the future if they see you as the type to lie. My guess is that you do what you can to get into the country legitimately based on whatever angle you can find... you'd be surprised of all the different government programs will let all sorts of different people into different countries. Heck you may be able to use your partially completed education as a way in on a student visa assuming you go to a country that would recognize it and that you are okay with completing it somewhere else. I am not too sure that your fake diploma would even be a good idea to use at job interviews while in this other country either . I imagine it to be very possible that a prospective employer may find it compelling to report this to the immigration department and your visa would likely be revoked and then your back to square- one.

In summary I would try to get your previous education recognized and or completed. Assuming you have exhausted that avenue and it was not illegal (I don't know every country's laws) I would then go ahead and get the fake diploma IF I were going to use it to get a job (or further education?) in my own country. If I really planned to go abroad I would first look into schools that offer similar educations as to the one that I had previously tried to complete OR schools that would take the previous education as part of completing another degree or diploma and apply for a student visa. If that failed or going to school abroad wasn't really part of your planning I would attempt to get a work visa OR a landed immigrant status base on ONLY legitimate information. Once you are "landed" or a citizen of a country then there is nothing that says you cannot get the fake degree and take it to a job interview if you wish. I just wouldn't do so on a work visa.

It's unfortunate the situations we find ourselves in sometimes; "so close but yet so far away". Ultimately it's your responsibility to understand the risks you take and take them ONLY if you know where the blame shall fall if it all comes crashing in on you someday and that you are willing to accept that it may. Remember too that if you do use this type of diploma that from time to time you'll be haunted by it. You'll wonder every time a superior asks to speak with you whether you'll be cleaning out your desk (or office etc.) and you wont be able to use that employer on a resume for future employment thereafter either if you do. But if you do get caught one day you do have one heck of a story and likely even proof of it so you may be able to make it sound as though you really had a good reason to believe it was a legit diploma and that you too are just as surprised to find out that it wasn't.

Hopefully you find a way to use your previous education towards something legit. And if not for the love of God I hope you learned something during your schooling that justifies the time and the money spent there, you don't deserve to be in this situation ; but you are or should I say"Johnnybegood" is?

Good luck I hope you all the best.

Well, to my point of view, actually there is no right or wrong in getting a life experience degree.

Be it a "life experience degree" or a "genuine degree". The value of it really depends on individuals. In other words, it depends on how one look at it.

If a person already has a basic degree, or rather a 1st class honours degree with some post graduate diplomas etc, and possess many years of professional working experience. He or she might just want a Master's degree just for self-satisfaction purposes (or to hang on the wall just to look good). He don't even need it to earn a living. Didn do anyone any harm either. Perhaps just want to look good and create a perceived value in a way. Further, some might not have the time and money to get a degree so to speak. (To get an MBA is not cheap actually).

Hence, they rather spend a few hundred dollars to get a life experience degree rather than to spend 10s of 1000s of dollars to get a 'studied degree'. The fact is that, not everyone who gets a Life Experience Degree doesn't possess the "quality". Is really up to individual's thinking.

I just want to address those that use the "life-experience" aspect of the whole deal as a negative. One of my best friends just returned to the University of West Virginia. He left about 7 years ago, at the end of his freshman year. Upon meeting with a counselor and going over his work details and such for the interim 7 year period, he recieved enough "life-experience" credits to be able to return classified as a senior. So, there are also legitimate universities that recognize the value of learned experiences. I'll be glad to put my un-degree'd 30 years of film and TV experience against someone who has graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field and see which is more valued in the industry.
