We booked the country lodge Ramsgate through the Beds at Sea website we arrived on the 26th of December 2015 total cost for the 7 nights R33 000. We rented this unit based on the pictures and information contained on the website.

When we arrived at the venue we were shocked to see the state of the place.

1. The walls were dirty.
2. The sleeper couch had holes in it.
3. The bedding was filthy.
4. There were broken windows. Which raised a safety concern
5. There were dangerous non-compliant electrical wires in the cupboard.
6. The pool was dirty and not in a useable state.
7. The tiles around the pool were cracked and a danger to adults and kids alike
8. The carpets were dirty the one even looked like it had blood stains on it.

It was generally in a shocking state. We spoke to Tinus on sight who said that we should raise our concerns with Ronelle who was not available we waited around for Ronell to return she did not. It turns out that Tinus is actually the lodge manager and is responsible for the condition of the place. This became apparent when I was referred to Tinus by Ronelle when I phoned her a few days later. I immediately started making alternative arrangement as I would not expose my kids or extended family to this environment even for one night. You can understand this wasn’t easy as this was the festive period and not much accommodation was available. We did manage to find alternative accommodation at various places along the lower south cost. Although this meant for some family members they had to move 3 times during the week. This was obviously at an additional cost to us. We also had to cut our holiday short.
It is shocking that you would offer this accommodation to the general public.

be warned do not use beds at sea you will be disapointed.

This weekend 20 people were booked in from the 23 October 2015 until the 25 October 2015 at the Country Lodge House. When enquiring about the condition of the place Ronelle had mentioned it was a beautiful, clean and comfortable house and is suitable for a weekend away, the pictures looked glamorous. To our disappointment we were in complete shock firstly by the Country lodges location as we had no idea we woud be completely surrounded by banana bush, when we got into the house an old whoof smell hit us and is was extremely unpleasant, so we began to settle and noticed a lot of bugs and geckos at every corner inside the house, We went with small kids and these kids were petrified. Everything looked so old and smelt old, The conditions of the bed was unbelievable, the sheets were brown in colour and everything was stained, the pillows had been soaked with saliva from the previous people the slept on it, there were roaches on the bed and even eggs of roaches, the carpets were old and smelly, we struggled to breathe the small children are suffering from that day with chest problems due to that unclean environment, we needed to get out of the place immediately but it was late about 5 pm and no one could help us, so we were told by management to please manage the night as in the morning we will be put into a new accommodation available which was the Port Edward Beach house, We had people from all over the country as apart of the 20 with us, they took time and effort to be at this weekend getaway, Money was spent but we ended up experiencing a nightmare, conditions were terrible and we ended up all being traumatised. From all the toilets not a single one flushed properly, so we couldn't even use the toilets. This house was not fit for even an animal to live in. Our time effort an money down the drain. You cant possibly do this to someone, as the organiser of this trip I suffered embarrassment, and was put under extreme pressure! So the next morning a scorpion was found in the shower we then realised that if someone was stung by it, this could be life threatening. We phoned the lady working there in great despair and after so much struggle had to shift to the Port Edward beach house which almost took us half the day to pack and relocate A pitiful experience indeed, Eventually on arrival to Port Edward Beach house it looked a million times better than the country lodge house, however condition were also old and a lot of insects in the house about 5 roaches were found, the next morning after we all had a bath and use the toilet to our despair we noticed the sewer system was flowing out a pit onto the yard, yes there was excretion floating everywhere, I have a picture of the excretion floating outside with the toilet paper, We are disgusted beyond words, So many people have become sick due to those conditions and being exposed to it I am willing to now take legal action if I am not compensated a full refund an apology and action to be taken in future so others to not undergo such a misleading traumatic experience! Please contact me asap as I want feedback an amount of R5650 + 1500 was paid, this is a huge amount! I don't mind paying for quality, but this was just horrible! I have photos which I am willing to publish in the south coast newspapers if I don't receive some sort of compensation and apology, the photos of the excretion and toilet paper floating I will forward to you shortly after I get it from my camera.
