Be2 credit card fraud

I was given a free "Trial of 3 days for the site be2.com.au what a scam. After you have to put your credit card details in there is no way you can cancel your free trial. You contact customer support and they tell you that you have accessed your contacts which is false as all the pics are blurred and you can't see them. There is no way you can cancel within the 3 days and customer support don;t answer your emails. They won't give me a refund of $234. I am now going to the Dept of Fair Trading.
If you have experienced the same please do the same more people that complain the better.

BE2 is an absolute scam. unlawful deductions from the Credit Card. Again Banks do nothing to protect its customers that pay fees. Definitely my fault by not researching enough. Mistake compounded by fraud. Compounded by incompetent Banks. Rod VDL

something has to be done to stop this pack of mongrels at Be2. I agree the aust banks are weak in stopping this fraud from overseas.close your bank account ASAP and open a new account because the mongrels will try to put you in a debt collection agency

Hmmm well it seems I am now victim to BE2 as well, cancelled my membership ages ago, as the site was horrible, lots of fake profiles, and 6 months later they have deducted $234 from my account. I have contacted my bank to see what I can do, and am hoping I can get it reversed! What a shame I didn't investigate them properly prior to joining.

This is unbelievable. Be2 made an unauthorised deduction from my credit card TODAY of $234. I visited the site more than six months ago and have never returned. I am really angry about this. Why doesn't the site provide a contact phone number?! Unauthorised deductions from people's credit cards is SERIOUS stuff.

*** Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that under no circumstances give your credit card details.to Be2 ***

I wish to lodge a complaint against Be2.au .Rue de Beggen Lux. I noticed my Mastercard had unauthorized deduction of $234. Last month, Be2.au offered a promo for $5.00 a month which I took the offer but $234 was deducted! Please recredit the amount of $229 and cancel my membership effective immediately.

Be2 - unable to cancel subscription

I joined be2.com.sg in February, but soon decided to cancel my subscription with them. After 2 frustrating attempts I decided to just cancel my credit card, so that they would not be able to charge me again after my subscription ran out. Months later they are now sending threatening emails telling me that i should renew my account soon or they will take...

Be2 invalid cancellation code

I signed up to this Dating Service website in January for an initial special offer for 1 month of £5.00. Within two weeks I realised that ther service was not what I expected and not to my satisfaction. I requested a cancellation code to terminate my contract, which they sent on 27 January (proof by copy email)but, I was not capable to use it successfully, It did not work. I emailed be2 Customer Service for help but no help was given. £5.00 was taken from my bank account on 15 January using my debit card details. On 16 February I was sent email stating that automatic renewal of my Premium Membership had failed due to a problem with my bank account, that questioned me to update my bank account details when they already had them and had debited £5.00. The reason I did not want to continue with this membership was that I could not afford the subsequent payment for the subsequent 6 months – but even though I tried to cancel, I have had now on 2 March had a payment of £119.94 debited from my account which I cannot afford. I am disgusted at the conduct of the company, I will not rest until I have recovered the CASH they have taken from me. I have copy emails of all correspondence to support my claim for justice!

I signed up for the free trial and was informed that to cancel had to have at least 15 days remaining. I then made a payment to and cancelled the following day. The website keeps you in a loop and they ask for a signed written cancellation. which as there was no signature required to open.
I am about to approach a watchdog programme as they have now got a debt recovery agency involved to take payment for services not used or required.

Things you can do about be2.com credit card scamming:
1. Report any unauthorised deduction to your bank. The banks need to get on to this. Their system should be set to decline a deduction from this Switzerland based company until such time as they address their unacceptable conduct.
2. To stop be2.com from taking any further money from your credit card, cancel your card and get a new one.
3. Report the company to fair trading and internet scam authorities in your state or territory.
4. Post information about your experience at complaint sites on the internet so others will be warned.

For those who are unclear of the issues with be2.com, please see this excerpt from their General Terms and Conditions:
"VIII. Cancellation and Termination
(3) Upon expiry of the purchased access period, access to the chargeable option of making contact under item II (5) and the related contractual relationship under item III (3) shall be automatically extended by an access period as selected or indicated (e.g. 3 or 6 months), unless the Client terminates in writing fourteen days before expiry of the access period or, if another termination period was communicated when buying the access period, within this other stated termination period, indicating his/her full name and his/her alias. The termination must be requested using the respective link in “Settings” in “Premium Membership”, if available, or by facsimile. Upon receipt of the confirmation of payment for the first purchase the user shall be informed of the day (date) until which the contract shall firstly run and by what duration the term will be extended unless due notice of termination is given."

***Some of the issues with be2.com's General Terms and Conditions are:
1. Your access period is AUTOMATICALLY EXTENDED, meaning CREDIT CARD DEDUCTIONS COMMENCE and CONTINUE INDEFINITELY unless you terminate, and yet TERMINATING CAN BE DIFFICULT if not IMPOSSIBLE.
2. If you forget your username (as we all can do), the site does NOT PROVIDE RETRIEVAL OF YOUR USERNAME VIA YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS, and therefore you will have NO WAY TO LOG ON and REQUEST TERMINATION using the respective link in “Settings.” (only a forgotten password can be retrieved via your username)
3. The alternate method of terminating is by facsimile, but NO FACSIMILE NUMBER IS SUPPLIED.

THINK TWICE about proceeding with a free-trial with be2.com! You may find your credit card in a longterm relationship with them, while you get left on the shelf seething!

I checked my credit card statement and found that I was being charged 200 or so dollars for an escort Service in Denmark. I have never been to Denmark and live in the USA. I had never even heard of this website until it appeared on my billing statement. I called my credit card and reported fraud. They investigated and cancelled the transaction.

Now, a few months later, I receive a letter in the mail saying that they have taken me to collections. I never signed up for any of their services or even their free trial.

I am currently in the same position, I can not get out of this agreement... which I don't even recall signing up to in the first place! They say "Please comply with our request, or we will be forced to start our debt collection routine" and they tried to take £149 out of my account! I am livid. They suggest if I want to cancel my subscription to login and delete my profile - which I only looked at once might I add - so I went in (after requesting my sign in name and password because I didn't even know what it was) and then I couldn't even cancel my subscription because I missed an apparent "payment" so unless I pay it they will just keep me as a member and continue to charge me! I do not know what to do and it's really freaked me out... there isn't even a phone number to call!

What will I do?

Hello there maskn

I am Annabel Marshall, a Team Leader at be2 Customer Services.

When you signed up for your trial, on the product selection page, the fact tha the trial extends into our popular 6-month product is very clearly displayed as is the fact that you need to cancel in time to avoid the renewal. Most customers do need 6 months to find their partner.

I am very sorry if you feel that you were in any way misled, but we do make the renewal clear (indeed we are legally obliged to). If you would like to discuss your situation further, please do get in touch with me under annabel.marshall@be2.com, quoting your be2 username and I shall be happy to assist.

Be2 I canceled my subscription before the due date only to find that £149.94 was taken out of my account a couple of days later

I signed up for what was described as a trial for £5.00 with this dating site, my cancellation date was given as 2/8/2010, I canceled my subscription before the due date only to find that £149.94 was taken out of my account a couple of days later, when i complained to the company about this they informed me that I should have cancelled 7 days prior to my cancellation date? I have repeatedly sent emails to this company demanding they pay back my money but they are refusing, please do not use this dating site, the only emails you receive are computer generated and are not genuine. I have recently seen other complaints posted on the Internet about this company. Please be aware.

Be2 unauhorised deduction and failure to honour cancellation request.

I signed up to the online dating service Be2.co.uk in September 2010 and the paid 5 pounds they required. I will admit then that I did not realize that the sum of £149.00 would be deducted from my account six months later. When I realized what had happened, I tried to cancel my subscription. Their website is designed in such a way as to make this next to nigh impossible. I also complained about this on their customer service website. I filled in their cancellation form and faxed, posted and e-mailed it to them. To my horror, they deducted a further £149.00 six months later and threatened to send debt collectors to me because I asked my bank to retreive the money and block further deductions. To this day, they have not offered an explanation of why my repeated cancellation requests have been ignored. This company is a giant scam. I would appreciate any advise from people who know what to do in such situations.

Be2 cannot cancel

Be2 is a dating / romance website that appears ligitimate - perhaps rough with a startup feel to it. To use it you must pay a trial fee by submitting your credit card details. Once your details have been submitted, you will be be charged approximately AU$234 for a further six months. According to their website you must cancel at least 14 before teh renewal date.

Despite their claim there is no way to cancel this service. I had previously made contact with the customer service department via email and they advised me that I should do it online and provided instructions on how to do it. These instructions were incorrect as the site was incomplete. Cancellation from the BE2 service is impossible online.

I had sent them emails to manually cancel the service, however, these have not been acted on. It is now my clear understanding that this organisation is fraudulent and deliberately stealing money from credit cards. To this end I am currently in contact with econsumer.gov, a cross border consumer complaints organisation, and have contacted my bank to challenge the BE2 merchant.

Due to the number of complaints and the visibility of those complaints, I advise anybody affected by these frauds to promptly contact their bank in the first instance to find some form of protection against them.

I was offered a free 2 day "free trial" onb the condition you enter your credit card details. After the 2 days I wanted to cancel the offer but there was no way I could. I sent several emails and no answer. When they eventually got back to me they said it was too late. They deducted $234 out of my account and now won't refund my money. It is a scam and a fraudulent offer they have no intention of giving back the money. Even today I can't see the pics they are all blurred so they have never granted me full access even though they have taken $234 from me. Don't join up it is a scam !

Yeah I was just charged the same $234 after my $5 one month subscription ended and that was after I spent the whole month talking by email to a girl from the site who turned out to be in Nigeria. I only found this out by using an email tracing site.
Unlike some others I did not cancel my subscription because I thought it would either just run out or maybe I would just be charged another 5 dollars for another month. After reading all the awful things on the Internet about BE2 I have contacted my bank and just outright cancelled my card, at least they won't be getting any more money from me. I have sent an email to cancel my subscription but I expect like a lot of other people in 6 months time after they once again try to access my card I will be getting a letter from their fictitious debt collection agency.

I too are partof a scam by be2.com. I was given a 1month $5.00 trial period. After 4days of no contacts I tried to cancel my Trial Membership. A reply Email told me to cancel again which I duly did. Despite cancelling 3weeks before the trial end I was annoyed to find $241.00 had been removed from my Bank a/c 2days after the end of the trial period. I immediately got the Bank to cancel my Credit card. I am persuing the matter further. Also my computer had a mysterious Be2 crypted File added. It is interesting to read of other fraudulent activities by be2 in other states.
I am a Sth. Ausie and fell for their Scam.

This has happened to me too. Since I have 'not unsubscribed' they say I am legally bound. However, you cannot unsubscribe from this site, so where is the legal, excuse me?. Also E-harmony and a couple of others are similar, dealing with them is a nightmare.
Reading the terms and conditions is NOT enough, since many sites CHANGE their terms and conditions, of which you may not be aware, and you become unwittingly exposed.
When in doubt, don't pay anything further, CONTACT your credit card supplier, I have found them very helpful getting my money back; or changing the card to eliminate their hold.
If anyone can find an ombudsman or legal representative that can deal with this PLEASE pass on the info, I sure can't find them.

The Same thing has happened to me and I think that they are just a big rip off. I had a free trial and before the free trial ended I tried to cancel, but when you go into the settings and membership area the button that you are supposed tp click on to delete your account was not active. So I emailed them and they returned my email saying that it was too late that I had to pay, and that I had not completed my cancellation. I told them about how I couldn't and explained what happened, they said that for me to cancel I have to fax a written letter to them with my account details and in the middle stating that I wish to delete my account.

Be2 taking unauthrised money from bank account

I became a member on this dating website last month with an introductory £5 offer, paid by Debit Card. I became suspicious when a 'date' called me and sent lots of loving emails, he said he was in the UK but when he called the call was logged as 'International' he asked me for my address, which I did not give, he has gone very quiet since I questioned him, that was last Thursday and on Friday this comoany put in a payment from my card, using the details they have - to take £149.94. I am a widow on a very low income and this represents a lot of money to me right now. There are no apparent contact details that I can see for this Company, I have contacted my bank but there is nothing they can do at the moment.

Hello Marie St Clair

I am Annabel Marshall from be2 Customer Services.

I was sorry to read that you felt you were not made aware of the automatic extension of your Premium Membership. Indeed on the page where you selected the 5 pounds trial it clearly stated that the trial month will convert into our 6-month subscription if no cancellation is sent and on the page where you entered your credit card details, the required notice period is clearly mentioned.

Nonetheless, as I am not in a position to discuss individual cases on a public platform, I would ask you to be so kind as to get in touch with me via e-mail, including your be2 user name so that I can take a closer look at your case.

With kind regards

Be2 dating for seniors

On the weekend I pushed a button on Facebook which was a FREE site for meeting senior singles on line. However, all of a sudden from an amount of $39.95 for a month (which I assumed I would give me access for 1 month, I all of a sudden received an account charged to my American Express card for $234.oo for a 6 month period. I immediately emailed B2.com.au customer service and their reply was that I had already had contact with "my matches" (which were all over the continent & NZ) a refund was not possible. I feel as a pensioner, I have duped into believing this was free. What a farce and I feel it is a scam inducing older people to part with money they can ill afford. What can be done?

@Sandii - They can't take any legal action as they don't comply with Australia's consumer protection laws and they know it so they really don't have a leg to stand on - don't be intimidated by their threatening emails; I've noticed they seem to threaten women a lot more than men - It can't affect your credit rating either so don't worry about it. I would say you've lost the $234, I was lucky I used a top-up Australia Post Debit card that had no money in it and I was furious when they tried to debit it and I let them know that I had no intention of paying them whatsoever and the threats soon stopped so don't be too concerned about it

Sandii, according to my meeting with a solicitor, in Queensland dating agencies are required to be a registered as a business and B2 wasn't. Try contacting the Swedish consumer affairs, see my previous comment. 22/01/13. The emails stopped once they contacted B2. I am sure they would like to know about your compliant. Forget them and try RSVP at least you only have to buy stamps, not a monthly debit from your card. Purchase a woollies preloaded debit card. They only charge $1 each time you load $ onto it. Take care...

I have had the same problem with B2 dating agency. I went on there one night in January 2013 and had a bit of a look and as I could not see any of the images of the people I decided to join up for $5 for one month. About 2 months later I got my credit card bill and was charged $234. I nearly fell over. Being a single parent and having to budget my finances, I thought what the hell is this for. I worked it out and got my bank to reverse the payment. I rang b2 and spoke to a customer service consultant. She told me to email a department within b2 and they would have a look at my complaint. I never heard any thing back from them. I keep receiving emails saying if I don't pay the money they will take legal action and I will get a bad credit rating. Does any one know if they can give you a bad credit rating if you don't pay? Seeing that they are based in Switzerland can they take any legal action against you? I was the same as every other story I have read. I thought I was joining for one month for $5 and all of a sudden I'm paying a Premium Membership of $234. I was so relieved to read all the rest of these stories as I couldn't believe it was happening to me. I cancelled my credit card which they took the money off so they can't deduct it again. If anyone can let me know about the legal action that would be great as I keep getting emails from them saying they are going to take legal action. I live in Queensland. Sandii

Be2 caused me much anguish in 2011 with their intimidation and threats when I tried to close my account. To cut a long story short I contacted the Swedish equivalent of consumers affairs. They wrote to Be2 and sent me a copy of the letter, demanding they stop their harassment. I have never heard from them since. If you would like to contact them please email guido.sutter@seco.admin.ch or their web site: www.seco.admin.ch.

Cynthia, don't worry about any debt collectors/legal proceedings and don't pay them a cent! Don't be intimidated as they are all bluff and know they don't have a leg to stand on! I still get the odd email from them with a profile match wanting me to rejoin, even though I cancelled over 8 months ago and after all their legal threats!

I also was not advised of having to pay $249 which they have suddenly started asking me for. I was not receiving any emails with perfect matches for the last 3-4 months at least. I have been called a liar when I said I thought I had cancelled, and not having received any emails for so long thought this had been done. Now I am being threatened with debt collectors/legal proceedings. Thankfully I have not paid them any money and after reading these comments am not likely to.

I was lucky I used a Debit card with only a few dollars in it - I fell for the 1 month special deal and was shocked they tried to debit the whole $234.00 a week or so later and every month after that !- each transaction was declined as I stopped using the card - they would send a polite email reminding me their bill was declined. I tried to unsubscribe to no avail - even sending them very abusive and threatening emails! I got one letter in the mail from a Sydney based debt collector called Baycorp asking me to ring them urgently - I never rang and they've been ringing my mobile at least once a week for the past 6 months (from an Indian based call centre of course) which I never answer - they can keep this up for as long as they like as I know this Swiss based mob are a bunch of scammers - they will get no money out of me that's for sure! I urge people not to join Be2 and never give them your credit card number! They are nothing but frauds!

I agree, I pushed tehe button and suddenly found myself a "Premium Member", cost $234.
I've tried to cancel but the number, presumably for Australia, goes nowhere.
I'm still working on it. I warned them that I was wary of scams, but they were better at it. A rough way to treat pensioners

My story is much the same, became a member for 39.00au got charged 295.00, tried to dispute the bill, cancel my membership, revoke an terminate the contract...to no avail. All I got was automated response on how to cancel online which led me to a dead end.I refused fill in the form and sign it that they provide for fax cancellation and send it to some unknown destination overseas. So I have cancelled my credit card, now I'm getting threatening emails that they will send a debt collection agency. I have sufficient evidence that I have genuinely tried to cancel the membership, so I am now ready to take legal action. Has anybody actually ended up in court being sued be b2 or suing their scamming ### off? I can't find one story about an individual being sued or vise versa, where is the end to those stories?...does that mean that all of you are now gone, because they have sent a hit man on you to get their money back. nervous>>lol

Be2 - romance scam and payment for membership

Hi, I've complained to the website but haven't had a response yet. There is no place on the site To notify of scammers or abuse by other members. I was tricked by a member who I now understand is part of a Nigerian romance scam to give him access to my profile. He is now changed my profile and is using it as a smoke screen for a male under the same name...

Be2 this so called dating site is truly dreadful

Ladies beware... This so called dating site is truly dreadful. Within 48 hours I was getting spammed... Alot. Even worse, the site is full of bogus guys who send you mail (Stolen picture, profile etc etc) claiming to be doctors, it specialists... You name it. They ask for your personal email address early on - do not give this out. After 2-3 they are pretty easy to spot. English is very bad (But they all have masters degrees...) and they trip up on questions to do with their profile

I tried to cancel my membership and be2 made it incredibly difficult to cancel... They are just after your paypal or credit card details. Keep off this site...

Not only did they take $249 instead of the special offer $34.95 but I was courted by a man who was a good match for me but on the other side of the planet, we chatted, webcam talks, even talked with his beautiful teenage daughter via web cam. He had to travel for work, went on a buying trip to Benin, Nigeria, had his laptop bag with cell phones and webcam was taken at the airport and asked if I could send him cell phone of which he would give me cash when he was going to visit in 3 weeks. I was suspicious but did it anyway. As soon as he received the cell phone and web cam I sent, his daughter was kidnapped and he needed another $10k usd, after I explained my brother was based on an oil rig off the coast of west africa and would bring the "boys' in to get her back he dropped this down to $2500k usd. Wanted it via western union transfer. Things did not stack up, a father losing his daughter would rest or leave it to just one person he vaguely knew for help considering he was a wealthy man. Days later he was still calling me and sad he had lost me. I had blocked him out. Then I received an email from customerservice.be2@financier.com advising my account was not cancelled and to cancel I needed to send them the first 12 digits of my credit card, when I said I was cautious since I had been a victim of fraud I received an email hastly written advising how this person was innocent and proven his innocence in the worse broken english.
It made me wonder if the site is designed by people sitting there with all our personal details pulling scams as every complaint I've laid with them about this scammer has been either automated or rerouted via a person with broken english that knows the full background of the scam without me giving them names (like the description above).

Be2 illegal practices

In January 2011 a lawyer for the Danish Consumer Council, Tina Dhanda, expressed the view that BE2 were acting illegally in taking money for continuing subscriptions. She was also scathing about the "cancellation" process which demands fax or a letter. This is from a Danish media (http://fpn.dk/rettigheder/markedsforing/article2317580.ece) - use Google to convert it into passable English. In 2009 the Finnish Consumer Ombudsman successfully threatened BE2 "which automatically continued its customers' agreements and charged the customers' credit cards if the customer did not understand to serve notice to terminate the agreement two weeks prior to the end of the period" (http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/redress_cons/docs/MS_fiches_Finland.pdf)(Written in English).

I suggest that anyone threatened with legal action bring both of these cases to the attention of your legal representative. I also suggest contacting your MP (http://www.writetothem.com/). Tell them what has happened, highlight these cases and the thousands of complainants on English language, French and German language consumer sites. This might bring the Trading Standards Office and Financial Services Authority into action.

I am not a legal expert but I've done a bit of research on the complaints out there. They span a number of years and countries but I can't find any action by any UK agencies.

I'm waiting for the promised letter from a debt collector...

Be2 is an online dating site. Users can not see photos clearly or read messages sent to them without taking out premium membership. I registered on 8 Aug., & signed up for a 6-month premium membership on 15 Aug. This was advertised using daily and monthly rates, but my credit card was charged NZ$270, the entire 6-month fee, immediately.

The product was not as expected. The images remained unclear & the messages, already in my inbox, were not from 'matches' but from scammers & people whose profiles indicated NZ residency but 'wrote' they were in Europe. I complained to the company, on 15 Aug. & asked for a pro rata refund.

Be2 said, contacting 'matches'/'using' the site = acceptance of the entire 6-month service. Since you have to be on the site to sign up, the 14 day guarantee offered under their terms, is worthless!

I disputed that scammers and fakes can be classed as 'matches' & claimed that the product was not the one advertised...with clearly visible photos, & genuine matches.

Be2 responded using automated emails that did not answer my questions clearly, until after my money was transferred into their account! Be2's many staff gave conflicting advice & classed my email address as 'spam'. When I wrote using another email address, Be2 accused me of lying, repeatedly denied having any record of my premium membership, stopped responding to my questions (with other than automated and irrelevant replies). Be2 suggestion that if I was unhappy, I could delete my profile (but this does not cancel membership, nor prevent automatic charges to a credit card upon expiry) & cancel my membership (but they keep my money) is unfair & unethical.

Be2 have not respond to my letter to the Managing Director requesting a NZ$270 refund, sent 2 Sept by both post & email (although receipt of the email was acknowledged). But, they stopped sending me updates on 29 August, which suggests that they have canceled my premium membership. This is a complete rip-off! I want my money back.

I thought i had cancelled but no they tried again to take more from my account but i'd changed banks. I have now received letter from Intrum Justitia wanting immediate payment. Be2 fraudulent

This dating website is a full out scam! You sign up for their 1 month $5 membership and have to delete your profile 14 days prior to expiration via fax or post. That is in the fine print! It's not like other dating websites where you can just delete your profile and you're done.
Also, I believe that 90% of their profiles are scam artists. They are all from Toronto, they are all engineers, they all type like English is their second language...it was odd from the very beginning. I read somewhere that most of the members are phishing for email addresses. DO NOT get sucked in! Keep your credit card in your pocket!

Be2 I have fallen pray to be2.co.uk internet dating site's ridiculously hidden and confusing terms and conditions

I have fallen pray to Be2.co.uk internet dating site's ridiculously hidden and confusing Terms and Conditions.

I signed up for the one month trial for £5 and didn't see anywhere on the website that clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions that there is a 14 day cancellation period.

Last week, I decided to cancel my membership as I still had approximately one week left before my membership went on to auto-renewal, and I spent over 3 extremely frustrating hours trying to figure out how to cancel. In the end I gave up and sent an email to Be2 customer services to request cancellation. I received an email a few hours later to say that as I had not cancelled outside of 14 days, they would charge me £149 to stay on the site for a 6 month membership which I do not want.

I feel as though I have been tricked. I have since sent several emails to the customer service dept only to be told that their Terms & Conditions apply equally to all members, and form a binding contract. The contract is governed under Luxembourg law and as I did not cancel within the period specified in the Terms & Conditions, my membership will automatically re-bill for £149.94 - which is the amount I am contractually obligated to pay for the services which I have voluntarily purchased from them, however, these Terms and Conditions are near impossible to find. I have also Googled them and am shocked by the amount of similar complaints made against this company.

After more rooting around, I found these Ts and Cs on the website
which are written in such unbelievable jargon that even upon reading, they still aren't very clear. The key line says:

(3) Upon expiry of the purchased access period, access to the chargeable option of making contact under item II (5) and the related contractual relationship under item III (3) shall be automatically extended by an access period as selected or indicated (e.g. 3 or 6 months), unless the Client terminates in writing fourteen days before expiry of the access period or, if another termination period was communicated when buying the access period, within this other stated termination period, indicating his/her full name and his/her alias. The termination must be requested using the respective link in “Settings” in “Premium Membership”, if available, or by facsimile. Upon receipt of the confirmation of payment for the first purchase the user shall be informed of the day (date) until which the contract shall firstly run and by what duration the term will be extended unless due notice of termination is given.

(1) Any objections to amounts of debited or charged fees which a Client may have must be raised and substantiated versus be2 in writing at the latest 14 days from debit of the objected fees or from receipt of the objected invoice. If the Client should fail to raise any substantiated objections within said 14 days period, the debited or charged fees shall be deemed to be approved. Any costs or fees incurred due to the delay or default of payment are the responsibility of the Client. In the event of a delay or default of payment, interest will be charged in accordance with prevailing statutory regulations.

So they basically say that unless memberships are cancel outside of 14 days they will charge membership fees but it's not very clear and I don't know how legally binding it is.

Also, when I signed up, I remember thinking that it was odd that the visible Ts and Cs on the website stated that if you were to cancel your membership before your first paid month is up, your profile would immediately be removed from the site, so, even though they advertise that the first month only costs £5, if I had cancelled before the 14 day cancellation period, my profile would be taken off the site immediately and I would have lost out on 2 weeks. This is why I chose to cancel just one week before my paid month was up. The whole business conduct of this terrible company is totally unfair and extremely sneaky.

If I had know what kind of an awful company they were who have absolutely no interest in helping people find relationships, I would have steered well clear of them and I strongly advise others to do the same.

Be2 lots of bogus characters - scam

A lot of bogus characters with close similar profiles. When you pick on them immediately they want an IM address to chat but you know they could be either scammers or hackers.

I used an uncommon mail service and did not chat with the ones I picked online. Gradually you find them talking rubbish and cannot answer simple personal questions and eventually drop off the scene. Confirmed scammers who are phishing for email address and whatever else.

Please be aware and don't pay for their service. I've been on many online dating websites but this is the worst. I wonder if they have bogus employees to create the volume or they are spammed themselves by competitors. But if they don't do anything about it, like blocking those with same IP signing up with different names, then they themselves are busted and should close down.

I totally agree! It was very, very strange. Alot of profiles with the same profession. I could also tell from their emails that English was not their first language, yet their pictures showed a different story. I even spoke to one person on the phone. He claimed to be from England/Scotland...his accent was definitely NOT English or Scottish. Also...it is so difficult to remove my profile from this site...I have to send a letter in the post. Who knows if they'll even receive it! I'm very afraid!

Be2 over charge/ripped off

Just to inform people of BE2 dating sight, they inform me that they will not re emburse me my money, they state that when you pay for premium membership that you also pay for the automatic extension, which they say is clearly stated, which it is NOT clearly stated.

But what you really need to watch out for is the scammers on the sight, alot of men and woman who are not who they say they are! Be2 get you hook line and sinker, befor you pay for membership you sign in complete a profile and submit a photo if you want and the next day you get many messages from guys or gals with great lookinp photos, beware this is where they get you... You think wow great much to choose from and many to chat to and get to know, well this is where you sign up and pay because you think this sight is great! WRONG Most of these profiles are fake or are not the real person behind the photo as i have found out! BUYER BEWARE! I am furious at this sight, and if you want to go on a dating sight that is worth the time and effort and want to chat to people for free then go on Plenty of Fish, There you will meet and chat with people who are genuine.
If you live in New Zealand then NZdating is another good sight from what my friends say.
Thankyou

Unfortunately with NZ Dating I had a small issue when I chose to not Renew my membership the money was still taken. I was told quite rudely that I hadnt followed the correct instructions and that I would not be getting a refund and my account had been suspended from 6th Feb - I'd paid up to 8th Feb. I had followed these instructions and without even thinking anything of it assumed I would not be furthered charged.

I have fortunately received a refund through much persistence.

It was clear 2 people were dealing with the issue - one person with customer service skills and 1 person clearly lacking. They also cancelled my account without any prior warning from 6th Feb.

Left feeling very disappointed with NZdating and wouldn't recommend purchasing the gold membership just use the free service they offer.

Be2 class action law suit

On February 8 2010 I have responded to advertising from be2 and opened a trial one month membership for $5.00 US. On February 9 2010 I have determined that the service does not meet my expectations and I have taken steps to cancel my account.

Attempting to follow directions on the be2 website for canceling an account I was only able to view pages advising me that canceling a profile does not cancel the membership and provided other links which all lead back to the beginning. There was no option that I could find to cancel the membership. I was trapped in the service.

I have found information for canceling the membership by mailing a letter with copies of legal documents provided, however this practice is contrary to Canadian privacy regulations and I felt that I should not be required to mail a copy of my government issued documents in order to cancel my account, especially since this information was not required to create the account in the first place.

In the end, I have submitted a contact form through the be2 website and specified the category “Payment and ending your Premium Membership” which I selected from the drop-down list. In the contact form I have requested immediate cancellation of my account. I have received an automatic reply from [protected]@be2.com which provided information on how to delete my profile and a notice that deleting a profile does not cancel my membership.

On March 12 be2 has withdrawn $179.94 US from my credit card. This transaction was over a month after I have notified be2 that I wish to cancel my account, and over a month after I have last used it (for only a day). I have reported this transaction to my credit card company as unauthorized. My credit card company has attempted to contact be2 however be2 has ignored their attempt to make contact just as they have ignored my request to cancel my account in the first place.

At that point I have received an email from be2 requesting that I provide my new billing information, and a “PS” requesting that I contact customer service if I have not used the service. I have clicked on the link provided in hopes to find some contact information to the said customer service however all I have found was a web page requesting my new billing information and no other links or contact information, not even the normal footnote links with trademark and other such details that be normally provides on their other web pages.

At the same time I have started receiving several unsolicited emails per day from the service which I have not been receiving previously. The email contains two links to stop the unsolicited emails by changing my email settings in my profile or visiting the help page. Both links lead back to the page requesting the billing information. There is no way for me to unsubscribe from the flood of unsolicited emails.

The web page which requests my new billing information advises me that be2 can take legal action or forward the issue to a collection agency if I do not make payment. This is extortion. My reply to this email was not answered. I have sent dozens of emails in the past few days to [protected]@be2.com in the past few days, one for each email I receive from them, at a rate of a couple dozen per day. I have received a small handful of automatic responses, maybe 1 to every 20 emails I send out. The automatic response tells me how to delete my profile and advises me that doing so does not delete my membership. The same email also advises me that if this answer doesn't help me then I should reply to the email. I have done so for every one of these emails that I have received and so far I have not received a single response. This "service" is a trap with no way out.

I am considering a class action law suit against be2. Clearly the practice of fraud and extortion is a normal course of their business. I have created an email address of [protected]@gmail.com. Please email if you are interested in joining the class action.

Emma,

I would like to keep our correspondence in here so that the readers can experience have an opportunity to share in this experience. I would also suggest that you re-read other people's complaints about the be2 service posted in this forum. You will notice that the complaints are consistently reporting the same issues so you should not be surprised with my experience if you claim to have actually read the other complaints.

In response to my request to cancel my account, which I have submitted through your contact form, I have received an email from be2 with Service ID [[protected]]. The response read as follows:

---start
Dear ZB,

Thank you for your message!

As you havent used any services, it is possible to withdraw from the contract with be2.

Of course, we will accept your withdrawal.

Please contact us if you have further questions!

My request to withdraw from the service has not however been accepted as the onslaught of email spam continued. I have responded to this email requesting that my account me cancelled and I have not received any acknowledgment of receipt of that email.

Since then, between July 24 and July 29 I have sent a total of 80 emails to the email address customerservice@be2.com. In that same time period I have received 10 automatic response emails with the following text (the remaining 70 emails have not been acknowledged):

---start
Thank you for your message!

****Please note that this is an AUTOMATIC ANSWER. If this answer doesn’t help you, please reply directly to this email.****

Do you want to delete your profile?

You can delete it easily yourself by choosing “My profile”, then “Settings“ and then “Profile Status“.

IMPORTANT: The deletion of your profile does not cancel your Premium Membership!

Your be2 customer service

****Please note that this is an AUTOMATIC ANSWER. If this answer doesn’t help you, please reply directly to this email.****

These automatic response emails were each assigned a "service ID". If you would like to investigate, these IDs are:

To each of these emails I have responded with the following message: "This email does not help me at all. PLEASE REMOVE ME FROM THIS SPAM LIST! I have cancelled my account on February 9 2010." except for the last of these emails which had the following message:

I am really getting frustrated with you ignoring hundreds of my requests so I'm going to start expressing myself in CAPS so perhaps it sinks in better.

REMOVE ME FROM THIS SPAM LIST AND CANCEL MY ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY! I HAVE REQUESTED MY ACCOUNT TO BE CANCELLED ON FEBRUARY 9 2010. MY REQUEST HAS BEEN IGNORED AND YOU HAVE FRAUDULENTLY WITHDRAWN FUNDS FROM MY ACCOUNT. WHEN THE BANK REVERSED THE CHARGES, YOU ATTEMPT TO EXTORT MONEY FROM ME BY THREATENING ME WITH COLLECTION AGENCIES OR LEGAL ACTION EVEN THOUGH MY ACCOUNT SHOULD HAVE LONG AGO BEEN CANCELLED!

CANCEL MY ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY AND EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 9 2010.

I have received only one response, quite consistent with the ratio of 10 emails sent to 1 response. The response I have received was to my last email with the above text and reads as follows:

Since my membership still does not appear to have been cancelled (be2 clearly states that cancelling a profile does not cancel the membership) and so I can expect that be2 will continue to attempt to extort money from me, I have responded to this email with the following: "I have asked to have the entire membership deleted, not just the profile. Please confirm that my membership has been deleted."

This email has not yet been acknowledged. Perhaps I will need to mail it 9 more times. I feel we're getting closer.

An almost identical situation to the one I am experiencing - 7 years down the track! Seems little if anything has changed! I found info on Be2 site advising that cancellation of membership requires a fax. OK, at least that's a start, and I've not done this yet, but hey, it's 2017 - how many people have/use fax? Be2 is a scam operation. Beggars belief it's still operating. Where are the Consumer Protection Agencies?

Are you still pursuing this class action suit, as I would love to be a part of it and I have already let Be2 know that I will be writing up these complaints as research articles to disseminate to all my research contacts across the world, and I will be disseminating through social media to all research colleagues and friends.

I will contact you about joining the class action law-suit. Is this being done pro-bono? After I changed my credit card due to loss, I decided not to continue, and be2 tried to automatically renew my membership and charge me. Of course, the payment did not go through, and I was not given access to the premium site anyway. However, not only did they decide to pursue me for payments for service they did even provide, they continue to harrass me via email. They have not responded to my requests to terminate membership.

Since they are trying to bill me for service they did not even provide, I believe that their practices amount to fraud and extortion. Please let me know what I can do to support your case, and I hope many more people join this and expose this company for the scam that it is.

Be2 - scam and fraudlent

On 1 July 2010 I joined Be2 for a 6 mths membership, after not being able to access any real information from the Free trial aspect of the site. I put the membership onto my credit card. I was only signed up for a couple of days when I tried to cancel my membership because the same members where sent to me each day and most were from overseas not NZ as I...
