I am writting this out of utter frustration and mental harrassment. I was driving through Hebbal ring road towards KR Puram and suddenly traffic police showed hand so I stopped. And Poilce asked for my driving license and asked me to come out of my car. It was Maruti Alto. Then suddenly asked me to pay Rs.300. Then I asked why. Police said it is for over speeding. I said I was driving at 60KM/Hour. Then he the limit is 50Km/hour. I said I don't know about that. He said pay the amount otherwise I will be asking for Rs.700. Then I checked it was written on the board throughout ring road it is 60KM/hour for four wheelers and 50km/hour for two wheelers. I don't know the local language because of that only he did that way. He was telling me everything in kannad language only. And many vehicles are not stopping even.
I am really frustrated and harrased by them. It is out of any reason they charged me and they were not even in a mood to explain me.
I never expected that it may happen in bangalore also. I feel cheated. It has happened at 1:07PM on 11-11-2009.
I am requesting to Karnataka govt to please look into this matter and ensure it should not happen with normal people. Otherwise it will be real difficult for non local people to stay here.
I am really frustrated. I am not able to concentrate on anything for this matter.
This is really pathetic to get treated this way in Bangalore.
I am expecting a quick reply for this . My mail id : [protected]@lycos.com
will be waiting for a response from Karnataka Govt on this.

I'm deeply disheartened by the traffic police and infrastructure of rules in Bangalore. Just a few minutes back, me and my family had stopped the car by the road, just to quickly drop off our little puppy at the grooming salon. We completed the task, and all of us were back in the car wuthin 5 minutes. After starting the car, it was unable to move. On investigation, it had a collar on the tire. It seems, that we were booked for no parking. There was no board or sign anywhere near that area that suggested that it was a no parking zone. Nevertheless, we called the number given on the Tyre collar. 2 policemen arrived on the scene, and were not ready to listen to reason. They were speaking in Kannada, and we told them, that we aren't fluent in the language. This evidently got them frustrated. The citation for no parking is 500/-. But they charged us 2500/-. Yoy may be asking, "why?". This is because, according to them, the collar was now damaged and we had to pay for the damage. Now, according to them, the rusty old iron collar was worth 2000/-. To make things even worse, they only accept cash. Personally, I feel, that a more welcoming attitude would go a long way in better police duty. It's not a one time thing, that people are angry wuth the police. Uts very common nowadays. So, I feel, the attitude was very bad and the citation was unfair. Even if the police might be right in his eyes, I feelthe fact that there was no sign of no parking in that area was very wrong. Losing time and valuable money over such a petty thing is next to unacceptable to me. I hope such an incident never happens again. If any concerned official is reading this, please contact me on my personal Gmail - gottygautam@yahoo.com.

All old traffic police men should be laid off. New young and literate people should be recruited. They should be trained properly and the rules and regulations should be taught. They should be made professional. Instead of we addressing them as sir, they should address us as Sir & Ma'm. They should be made aware that they are public servants; we are not theirs. India is a great country and I'm proud of it. But people like these have ruined India's status.
People say "Be the change to see the change". I say: We are already a change. Waiting for the government to change.
Pathetic. Sad.
I'm 28 now. I bet by the time I die nothing would have changed except for increasing corruption, increasing traffic and increasing number of buildings.

ITS TRUE BANGALORE TRAFFIC POLICE ARE TOTALLY CORRUPTED & VOILENT IN NATURE.THEY BEHAVE LIKE CHEAP & LOW CLASS PEOPLE.EVEN SCHEDULE TRIBE PEOPLES ARE MORE BETTER THAN BANGALORE TRAFFIC POLICE.WHAT THEY DO AFTER THEIR DEATH.ARE THEY CARRYING MONEY WITH THEIR DEAD BODY.I & MY FRIEND WERE TRAVELLING TOWARDS JALAHALLI CROSS IN THE BIKE, NEAR PEENYA FIRST STAGE SIGNAL AN OLD TRAFFIC POLICE PERSON CAUGHT US & FINED OF RS 300 DUE TO JUMPING OF SIGNAL.WE WERE READY TO GIVE THE FINE AS WE WERE IN HURRY FOR OFFICIAL WORK.MY FRIEND WAS NOT HAVING ENOUGH MONEY & REQUESTED THE TRAFFIC PERSON TO FINE RS 100.AT THAT TIME TRAFFIC POLICE SAW ME SPEAKING IN HINDI, THEN HE STARTED SHOUTING ON ME IN UNHEARABLE WORDS OF HINDI.WHEN I OBJECTED HE STARTED BEATING ME VERY HARD.THESE PEOPLES ARE NOT LESSER THAN [censor].THESE PEOPLE DOESNT KNOW TO SPEAK POLITELY.

I am with you guys.

I had an incident today. They have putup a new signal in KR road. This is covered by the tree branches. The signal is visible only when you are very close to pole. only thing you can see is a green light from far where you need to decide to stop or move. When I took a right turn because the lights were green because of poor visibiliity i saw 2 constables standing like hawks getting ready to harras. I pleaded not wrong but they insisted on paying fine. When I was sure not to pay, they charged me with Dangerously Driving

Very frustrating.

regards
Guru

Same thing happened with me also. I was going in Airport road From Domlur towards Trinity Circle with my wife. Suddenly a traffic police officer signalled me to stop. I did not knew at that point of time why he asked me to stop. Then he explained me that i had been caught for jumping the signal and crossing the siganl when it was red. In fact when i crossed the signal it was yellow and two other vehicles had also crossed the signal at the same time.
Then he asked me to pay 400 rupees .At that point I did not know what to do. I did not want to argue with the traffic police officer and get more harassed. So, i just paid Rs 400 to the officer. When he gave me the Bill I was surprised even more, he had charged me with 1) Jumping Traffic Signal and 2) Dangerous driving two wheeler .
I really dont know how to react to this issue . I only want to know from Karnataka govt that why people like us are cheated by the traffic police officers.

Did you receive any Bill from the Traffic Police? Do you have any evidence that he has got money from you? Otherwise, there is no use. Usually traffic police wont provide any receipt for traffic violation payment. We should have to ask them the receipt. Its good to get receipt eventhough the amount is higher than the Bribe amount. Then if we feel it is immoral or fake bill, we can complaint the higher officials. Also RTI act will help you to get information about whether the action has taken against the police or not. Recently I caught by the traffic police for jumping the signal which i have not done so and many vehicles are passing the same time in that crowdy place. I tried to explain. Then I asked the police man, give me a bill / notice and i dont want to discuss with you. Then he charged me Rs.100 and issued the receipt for the same by using his Black Berry. Anyway we cannot stop the Bribe in India. We can do atlease what best we can like this only.
