Avis flat tyre

I filled the Avis rental car with fuel some 15 kilometres from Schipol Airport as the car was full when I received it 6 days earlier. Within a kilometre of leaving the busy garage on the A4 towards the airport the car seemed to be wobbling a little initially I thought it was the road surface until a driver waived at me as he passed. I pulled over and one of the rear tyres was flat. Fortunately I managed to inflate it ok and continued to the airport. I was asked by the Avis agent if I was happy with the car which I replied yes as it had been. I mentioned to him about the tyre and was then charged the princely sum of €330. P****d off to say the least! He said this was their minimum charge, what a rip-off for a flat tyre, wished I'd kept my mouth shut instead of being honest. I will never use Avis again.

Avis does not care about customers

This well known car rental company kicks it's customers when they are down! After having her purse stolen while out of town (car key included), if that wasn't devastating enough, listen how hard this company tried to help this customer. She was told that not only did they not have another key to the car (B.S.), but she would be charged not only to replace the key, but to change all the locks on the car. Then after she had to pay to have the car towed to their closest rental car lot, she was charged with not returning it to the same location. AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THIS AVIS DECIDED TO DO NOTHING! THEY FIGURED DOING THE RIGHT THING WAS NOT RIGHT FOR THEM. YOU SUCK AVIS!

Avis the worst customer service ever!

4/7/2014 The worst customer service ever! The most discussing car which I didn't rent had stains on seats. Avis charged my visa card transaction went through when I looked at car I was shocked. I didn't leave lot! I waited for customer service rep to cancel my bank transaction which took them one hour cause they had other clients so I waited. My bank account is still pending even though I never rented Avis car. I called Customer service which they told me to call back on 4/8/2014 billing dept. I walked to another rental location which I thank God had clean non damaged cars. I have several pictures of rental car which Avis should know better then to rent a car like this.
My name is Alice C I'm disappointed on how Avis treated me.

Having recently hired from Avis I was disgusted to find they billed my credit card for a larger amount than quoted. My mistake was not reading the fine print prior to signing. Avis automatically bill its customers with travel insurance for personal effects even though I had my own insurance.

Avis car rental has gone WAY down in customer service and quality of product... I did a rental last summer and I had a $100 gift certificate. When I went to pick up car they told me the gift certificate could not be used because I already had discounts on the rental. The gift certificate was a CASH purchase from a friend and had nothing to do with any discount.

I initialed to insure my rental car. I thought it was $28 a day for 3 days. That's the only amount that I read. That was reasonable. I got a $182 deducted from my account. They said it was 28 for one kind of insurance, another $ amount for another kind, and another $ amount for some more.

$182! I am pissed! I don't know what I am going to do. I needed this money in my account right now.

I had the exact same thing happen to me at Avis in Tucson. The guy was so chatty and joking around so much, he failed to clearly explain what he was putting in the contract. Of course everything is done in initials so it's so easy to overlook. I paid over $300 of insurance that I didn't need. The refuse to do anything about it and could care less that people are getting mislead and ripped off. It's very sad when companies care nothing about the customer. I will never use Avis ever again no matter what.

Avis etoll fradulant charges

For the second time Avis charged me for using their Etoll device, even though I never used it and paid cash for the one toll booth I go through. The first time they asked me to submit a receipt (fortunately I had asked for one), then wouldn't except the receipt as there was a 20 minute differential between my receipt and what their system showed me going through the toll booth. I had to escalate the issue to someone at corporate and eventually they gave me a refund. So now it happens again, and I get to go through the wonderful process of convincing them I didn't use that device. What's more interesting is that the first thing I do when I get in my rental car is tear the etoll device off the windshield and throw it in the glove box, so have no idea how it picked it up.
My advice - don't rent from Avis or if you have to make sure you get rid of that Etoll device.

Avis flat tire

I rented a from Panama City Beach car after barely missing a bus to New Orleans. As I was pulling out of the rental location I noticed the air was low on one of the tires. I returned to the location to have them inspect the vehicle. They filled up the tire and told me not to be concerned about it; I wish I hadn't listened. I had to stop no less than 6 times to fill the tire with air. I called, got a case number, and asked to be allowed to stop and have the tire patched. I received a phone call several minutes later letting me know that I could get the tire patched but that I had to make the return before noon that day (December 24th). I opted to fill the tire once more, fill the gas, and return it on time rather than patch the tire. When I returned the car full I was charged $200.00 for an extra day and for gas. I informed the lady I would be contesting those charges and she slammed the window shut (it was a drive through type window at the Canal Street location). I called and they informed me that those charges would be removed…they were not. I contested the charges, called to speak with a manager, was informed that my charges would be reduced, but that no manager was available. I will NEVER rent from them again.

Avis suspicious employee behavior

I had rented an Avis car online before I left for Liberia, Costa Rica. When we arrived at the Avis office, the two male emplyees took a long time drawing up the agreement for meto sign, then after some discussion in Spanish, they put an X through it and wrote up another without providing any explanation. Thenew agreement charged me double what I had agreed to online. The real deal breaker was when they wanted meto sign a BLANK agreement to pay whatever charges they would bring against me to the car listed on the paper. This was blank. When I filled in the licence number of the car, they ripped it up and said I had to leave it blank explaining to them that I was not signing a blank agreement. They would not even let me write the licence plate number on the bottom of the paper. I refused and left to go back to the airport where I rented a car from another car rental agency for $100.00 less and no blank agreement to sign.
I called my. Car insurance agent when I got home and she said I was very lucky to walk away from that.

Avis refund/overcharged

On the 15 August i paid Rental carsCom R1225.17 and paid Avis directly on the 16 August 2013 a further amount of R1100.00 as a deposit before taking the car in respect of Booking Ref No:[protected]
On the 25 September i paid RentalcarsCom amount of R1177.61 and Avis R1200.00 in respect of Booking Ref No: [protected]. I was charged 426km instead of 126km, i booked this car on 200km free per day for 3days.
As at todate i have been send pillar to post by rentalcarscom and avis regarding my refund on both Bookings, it is already more than 8weeks now.I wrote several letters to Rentalcars com but they dont seems to be interested in solving this matter. Why do i have to wait more than 2months to get my refund? Who is benefiting the interest on this amount? When will my refund be paid back to my account, ?Why i was charged 426km by Avis instead of 126.I Rentalcarscom offices were in South Africa surely i would have visisted their offices and insist on being served in dignified manner.
Quicker to debit our account by it takes ages to be refunded!

Avis car broke down, slow assitance

I rented a car for a conference. The care broke down on me. I called Avis. They sent a tow company but they did not show up for almost 3 hours. Then when they brought me a new car, it was pitch black outside so i could not check it for liabilities. They went to the wrong hotel intitally and were calling me continuously saying they were out front...they were at the wrong place. A tow company thats contracted through Avis showed up. They were carrying guns. I am sure it is for their own protection but it was alittle unnerving to me. They dropped the car off and left...not much interraction at all.
I did send a complaint to Avis through their customer care...they never responded. No attempt to rectify or even apologize is very disturbing and unappreciated.

Avis - employees compliment

August 9, 2013 Dear Avis Corporation, I would like to commend you for two of your employees at the Avis National Call Center. These two employees, Roni (employee # 31660) and Yuli (employee # 21550) both did an outstanding job assisting me with a car rental for my daughter. On August 9, 2013, I telephoned Avis @[protected] and spoke to Roni in an...

Avis rude customer service

This rental location is a family operated branch. The husband Zahi is rude disorganized and very short tempered. It is not a surprise that his son mimics the sawn demeanor. They literally ignore calls and customers and drag out the rental process. I have literally waited at the counter for over 40 minutes and then approaches with a negative attitude. They lack customer service, and organization skills. I have rented each wk for the last 2 yrs and the cars have a distinct odor, I find hairs, trash, and stains in upholstery almost 4/5 times. I have chose to rent from a different company entirely due to the above concerns

Avis rude, unprofessional customer service

Never use them. I wasted 2.5 hours of trying to call their local branch to see if they could pick me up (The reps on the 1-800 number offered me this service and confirmed it through the numerous customer service reps I spoke with). Since no one at the local branch could pick up a single phone call over the 2.5 hours, I spent the rest of my time calling the 1-800 Avis reps to try and attempt to even CONTACT that local branch to just verify the "pick up service".

I finally was transferred by a secret number that only the customer service rep knew and I spoke with someone who treated me like garbage. He was massively unprofessional and after being fed-up with his terrible attitude and they way he spoke to me I told him to cancel my reservation.

His response, "Sure, whatever -click-" and hung up on me. Apparently my money was not good with them, or they just didn't feel like doing any work that day.

I lost a day of work running around and playing their game with these unprofessional idiots, don't get suckered like I did.

Don't ever waste your time or give these people a single penny of your hard-earned money, they'll just treat you terribly. Let them starve this branch out and die and maybe they'll get the message and replace their staff.

Don't deal with the local rep: Mohammed Mustafa (this guy was a grade A jerk)

3716 West W T Harris Boulevard
Charlotte, NC 28269

You're better off having a rabid dog eat your leg off than deal with them... that whole experience would leave you with a much better taste in your mouth rather than doing business with Avis in Charlotte, NC...

I disagree w/ the comment. I've been renting cars from this location for over 4 years now for both business and pleasure. I've always been treated hospitably and the staff is always courteous. I used to rent from Enterprise down the road terrible service/cars. (ERAC never had a car for me. Always over booked!) However, Mustafa and his staff have always gone the extra mile for me! :) Once, a holiday weekend they were tight in cars. Mustafa and another employee went across town to get me another car from another location. They were kind enough to bring me the car in order to avoid any inconvenience to me. In addition, I've referred fellow co-workers and family. It is a family friendly staff and they offer great deals. Avis ONLY place I rent a car!

Avis they take the money and give no car

My husband had an interview in Oklahoma and we live in Ohio. I ordered a car to be waiting for him at the airport. Avis confirmed the order, took the money OUT of our account (we used a debit card), and sent us a confirmation. When we confirmed the rental the night before he left, we were told the only thing he needed was his return ticket and ID. He gets in in the middle of the night, goes to the counter and they would not give him the car. They first told him they do not accept debit card (oooops on their part, the website says they do, not to mention they already took the money!) They when he showed them the confirmation receipt (which states it is accepted with w return ticket). Then they told him he did not pass the credit check (him since when is 790 bad credit?). He ended up having to take a taxi for the 219 miles to his hotel room. Then of course to his interview and back to the airport. When I called to demand the money back they made the comment of keeping 100 dollars for not showing (ooooops sorry, he was there, they refused to give him the car.) and 100 dollars for last minute cancel (one, he showed up they refused to give him the car that was PAID for and two if they refuse to give you a car how are YOU the one canceling?) My advice...go somewhere else. Or have a major credit card that you can be ripped off on. They have the WORST customer service I have EVER run into. They left him stranded in a strange city, with no recourse and did not so much as loan him a phone book. When I called they tried putting all the blame on us while we had the proof they breached contract. One rep even asked me if I could read! We have received most of the money back now, but who knows about the rest.

Avis overcharges to credit card

I rented a car at Alicante Airport from Avis through Monarch airlines. The first car offered was rejected as it stank of tobacco /pipe smoke. I was presented with choice of a further two cars that had just been returned from rental but had to wait for them to be cleaned. I didn't thoroughly check the replacement car as I was more concerned about the smell of the interior. Two weeks later the clutch went on the car and Avis sent out a replacement car on a breakdown truck. I don't speak Spanish but the truck driver gave me the impression that he understiood that the fuel tank was half full and that there was no damage to the car except for the clutch failure.
At the end of the rental period I ws presented with a credit charge bill for wheel/tyre damage and a full tank of fuel amounting to Euros150.66. I refused to authorise the payment . Four days later I received notification that Avis had debitted my Credit card with £384.06 for the disputed 150.66 Euro bill and the garage repair bill for the clutch. Trying to contact Avis to resolve the issue has been impossible. What legal action can I take to get me money back?

Avis authorization without an actual agreement

Last Tuesday I was about to rent a car at Avis in San Diego. When I finally was happy about choosing a certain car and was offered a certain prize I was ready to sign the rental agreement. The lady at the counter already had my credit card and was just about to print out the papers.
1200 dollars was the agreed prize. When I then saw the rental agreement it suddenly stated 1800dollars. Of course I refused it and gave the lady behind the counter a total no-go to that. Note, I didn't sign anything.

Back home I realize that Avis has authorized 1800USD of my card. Now it already was a bit late, so I chosed to call them the morning after. After 15 or so calls where I always just ended up at their international desk (that told me the authorization would stick for three days, which is NOT the case) I am today, a week later, still in the same situation. Avis just transfers me to the international customer service and the San Diego Avis office doesnt answer or tells me they are busy with other customers.

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Christopher

Avis rude customer lack of service

On i booked an airline & car package on Orbitz. I was given the option to keep the flight, but upgrade the car. As i had a paraplegic passenger, i needed a full size car with a large trunk that would accommodate a wheelchair. I booked the upgrade, & it said i would get a Chevy Impella. I arrived at the Fort lauderdale airport Avis counter at about 5pm Tuesday October 9th. As things were slow, i went straight to an agent. At first this lady seemed very nice, but as things progressed it was obvious she was trying to fool me, so she could screw me out of as much money as possible. I gave her my reservation form, to which she said she would look for an upgrade. I told her i had already upgraded online, but i might as well have talked to a deaf person, as she paid me no mind. She tried to give me an SUV, but i told her that vehicle was no good for my passenger. The she said she had found a BMW, which was " fifty ". I told her i needed a vehicle with a large trunk, so she wanted to show me the vehicle. She took my suitcase & put it in the back office, & we went out to the parking lot. She showed me the BMW, then parked next to it was a Mercedes which she said had all leather interior, & was " eighty ". I asked her if that was per day or for the week, to which she replied " per day ".I told her i would keep what i had booked. We returned inside, she gave me my suitcase & i went back to the counter. Still insistent she tried once again to upgrade, saying that they had a sale on. What she should have said is " we do not have the car you booked, i get paid on commission, & i am doing my best to SCREW you ". She then called a male employee over, & asked him is a Towne Car was " G or H ". Finally she said she had found me a car, & she proceeded to give me a folder with a silver car. She said that was " twenty", her slick way of trying to screw me.Had she not, she would have said that will be fifty, eighty or twenty dollars more a day. I told her once more i would keep what i had already booked & paid for online. She then gave me a very rude sniggle. However there was more to come. She then pulled out a card, trying to sell me insurance which was $23.00+ a day. i told her i had booked & paid for the insurance when i booked the car.She then very rudely replied " well i do not know anything about that ". I took out my paperwork & showed her that the paper said " AVIS" & asked her what did that cover. Her reply was " i do not know you will have to decide that ".
Then she tried to sell me another insurance for $ 15.95 a day, & once again i told her that i had already booked & paid for insurance. As if that was not enough of my time wasted, & i was very mad & annoyed, she tried to sell me insurance in the event i had a flat tire, or locked the keys in the car. At this time i raised my voice, & told her i only wanted what i had booked, to which she laughed again. She than asked who would pay for the damage to the vehicle. Then she tried to sell me for $68.80, a deal to bring the car back empty of gas.I took this option, as i figured there was nothing else she could try.Forty minutes later after arriving at Avis, i sat in a car which was not what i had booked, & had not been cleaned properly as the last renters paperwork was still inside.I rented from Avis twice in one trip, FIRST & LAST. I have travelled the world over, & never have i encountered suck TRASH for service, & an agent who tried their best to screw me over. I have written a complaint to Orbitz, & i am going to write one to the Insurance company. I am also going to post it on Trip Advisor, so that no one else has to deal with this TRASH.

Avis re: overcharging, contract [protected].

On 21/06/2012 I hired a car from Avis (South Africa) from their East London office. I had earlier been given a quotation of 3937 South African rands(see below), and a total of R6708 with the holding deposit; the deposit was going to be refunded in full after I had returned the car without damage or ticket fines. To my surprise I was asked to pay R8000 when I went to collect the car on June 21, which I duly paid because I was desperate for transport. I was supposed to return the car on 22/07/2012 at 13.00 but I returned it on 23/07 at 08.00. For the last 3 weeks I have been battling to get my deposit back and I now resort to your office to help me get the money back.

We hired 3 vehicles from Avis Safari for 20 days, (second year that I have done this hire). We paid in full prior to pick up. A few days before we picked up we were told that we had to also now pay the driver insurance up front, an additional R30 000 (this is normally secured against each drivers credit card and is not a physical payment). I did this. Remembering that we had already taken out 100% insurance cover. On returning we were only refunded R24 000, R6000 short. I have tried now for over 4 months to Avis Safari South Africa, Avis Safari Namibia (one of the directors) and Avis South Africa complaints. No answer or explanation at all from any of them. This is outright theft. My advise to travelers "Do not think that Avis being a big name is protection" I will not hire vehicles from them again.

I rented a Hyundai i10 from the Avis branch in Strand street, Cape Town, for about three months with a monthly contract with Super Waiver. I had this contract from August to October, and paid ZAR5951, 46 per month (E596148862 is one of the rental agreement numbers).
Mid-October I made a new contract from the airport branch in Cape Town, with the same terms, a monthly contract with super waiver. After the end of my contract period, I discovered I had been charged ZAR10940, 63 per month (E596905105 is one of the rental agreement numbers). This is double the fee that I paid for my contract made at the Strand street branch.
The reasons I was been given about the doubling of the contract fee were that it is more expensive to rent a car at the airport branch than at the other branches, and that the company is free to change the car rental fee at any time.
I do not deny that I have signed this new contract, but I was not told about the high monthly price when I signed, and the price is double the price informed about on your internet pages (http://www.avis.co.za/monthly-car-rental/one-to-two-month-car-hire.aspx), and also double the price I paid for the car rental in Strand street.
I think the Avis company should refund to me half of the fee that I paid for the monthly contract made at the airport branch, but after having had unfruitful and unpleasant conversations with the Avis customer service, I doubt this will happen. Avis, which is an multinational company, appears unreliable and crooked, and I will never use it again or recommend it to others.

We have also rented a vehicle on the 2nd of November 2015 in Germiston and dropped it off in Mafikeng on the same day. They were quick to debit the monies for the km's charged extra from my account, but still no deposit. Phoned Avis on Tuesday, I was told that Thursday the money should reflect. And up to today still nothing. Will never make use of Avis again.

Okay that was fine, I asked the driver and he said they lying the car had scratches and dents, to my surprise that the car has dents to where it was said to be scratches, on the exact spots. That's what they said, I need a platform when I can be assisted, reservation is 0750 7279 ZA3. This is a big scam. Now I am forced to sign and repair this, this so fraudulent.

I've also made a booking for one of my employees at Cape Town Avis, Reservation no: [protected]-ZA-3, pre-paid. The car was refused on the date of collection. The employee was stuck at the airport at 21H00 tonight, Avis do not care for customers, or at least the person behind the counter do not care!

I've also had a car from AVIS and they had me pay a deposit with my credit card which was supposed to have been returned with the return of the car.
I've returned the car on 3rd of April 2014. Today the 6th of May I'm still struggling to get my deposit back. Excuses on excuses and still no date on when I'll get my deposit back.

Avis hiring scam, beware, only hires for temporary period, fires people lies

People need to be aware of the avis hiring scam out there - this stupid awful company just hires people for peak seasons around 3 months then fires them before the 90 days is up - so they can't get benefits or become union employees. Most people out there looking for jobs have no clue about this, and get screwed in the process. Avis budget group makes people think that they are getting hired for a permanent position and are on probation. There is no probation. Most people will get fired before the 90 days is up. Once avis has used abused people, forced them to come to work not miss a day, come sick, dying anything, manipulate them, avis will then let them go for no reason - they will get good employees go, good sales reps, good people. They will also keep all the shady bad people as permanent employees and they also have no standards by which they actually hire the permanent people - its usually a popularity contest amongst the managers who actually are the ones who vote to keep who they want in! Its a really bad system and unfair to employees who aer hard working and honest and beware if you are an honest employee you will get screwed or fired before 90 days is up!

When people are on probation, avis tells them that they have to be there on time, at work no matter what? This is a way to get these employees to work their a*es off for no reason when in the end they get fired... They get used by avis for three months during busy season and all the permanent employees in fact, will call in sick late constantly and also make the new hires take all the customers and do no work and even abuse new hires. Managers also take advantage of new hires and mistreat them and make them work ridiculous things and treat them badly because they know they can get away with it since it's probation and everyone wants to be a regular employee, but the truth is very few will get selected to move on and there is no standard by that selection process. So dont let them use or abuse you if you are a new hire and get that you most likely, will not make it through probation unless you kiss managers a*es or are a liar or shady! They seem to really like the shady bad employees! And if you miss days they won't fire you because they need you and are just using you... For hell of it and making you take all the customers while their other employees sit back and do nothing and harass new hires. Also they had some commission bonus to people's paychecks as an incentive it's kind of like, ok we're using you for three months so here's some extra money... That is the compensation for them using you! Dont expect a permanent position except to get let go before you can get benefits or anything else!
