How responsive is Authorize's customer service?

Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Authorize handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Authorize and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Authorize Merchant account/ billing gateway

I created an Auth.net account a month ago. Auth.net never provided the requested service. I attempted to close my account 4 times but was not successful. Auth.net withdraws funds from my bank account without providing any service whatsoever. I have never even logged into my account.

I have been in touch with my attorney about Auth.net and they are more than willing to create a Class Action Law Suit against Authorize.net. If anyone is interested in joining a class action lawsuit against Auth.net, please contact me via this thread. I will also continue to monitor this thread for interests.

Authorize Avoid

Bad. Nothing else to say. I didn't even start working with them but was charged anyway.
I thought that at first, I would have to activate my profile and only then they would start billing me. But as it turned out, they don't even need any reason for doing that, so be very careful when providing your credit card information. They just use it when they want without telling you.
Of course, I requested a refund and they even agreed, but what's the point of this if it's been 2 weeks and there's still no money? Useless

Authorize don't use them

They are very aggressive.
They disabled my account because I didn't change the password on time, that's why when I was about to use their service it turned out that it was impossible because all of my money was unavailable.
I called them numerous time and I wish it was useful because the lines were always busy and no one picked up the phone, which is very very sad. Why did they find a person who monitors the system that disables accounts, but couldn't find someone who would work with the customers?

Authorize do not do business with them

Be careful before starting using them. They are very sneaky and are glad to cheat you.
They have lots of additional and hidden fees, so your total monthly payment may be different from the expected one.
They charge you without any notification, without explanations. For something you never requested. If you complain them about it, they will only blame you and hang up on you.
Beware, buyers.

Authorize Authorize.net and its affiliate companies are horrible

Authorize.net and its affiliate companies are horrible. $99 fee just to see if your 'eligible' for their services. No particular advantage on rates VS paypal when looking at all the fees.

Sales/Support is awful, they disconnect you when trying to transfer from one department to another, and you on hold in the middle of your call several times in a few minutes! It's the strangest phone system, I've ever heard.

I never used the service once, and I yet was billed. Never even logged into the control panel even once. When you create an account, you get other companies that handle part of service. It's a mess. I thought I was waiting for approval for weeks when the sub company was requesting more financial information, even though my 'gateway' account was approved. Now of course you can get a refund because you've exceed the 48 hour mark. I was told my account was approved but locked. Meaning that I couldn't withdraw anything from it till I supplied the paperwork, but I could only put money into it.

Even though you've signed up with one company you've got to track down the scraps of your account that are located else where. They continue to bill you, but pretend not to know about the sub accounts with other vendors. I had to ask over and over to cancel my merchant account. At least six times before the sales person could give me information on it.

When is the last time you bough a car, but the lug nuts were from a different company and that company had separate billing? And because you didn't ask for a refund on the lug nuts they wouldn't let you return the car? That's the kind of service you get with Authorize.net.

In my opinion their signup process is a nice little scam. Who else wouldn't offer a refund to you if you didn't use the product, and the account was locked so you couldn't withdraw any money from it.

I've had a paypal account for years and never any any issues like this. I can only imagine what kind of hell those people have had that trust them to manage their online sales.

Authorize They steal from you and their support is a joke

I cannot believe the nonprofessional behavior of this company. They steal from you and their support is a joke. You write to support.authorize.net and no matter what you say, no matter what your issue is--they copy and paste about "how concerned they are and they understand" and tell you to call in. What is the point of this support email? I had to threaten harassment if they didn't stop sending me those copy and paste emails!

That aside---they over charged me over $200. They had TWO accounts set up for me and were billing them both! Then will not credit me back. Tried the support.authorize.net first--again told me to call in. So, I called in—they said they would investigate and get back to me. What did they do? Sent me one of those copy and paste emails denying my claim!

They verified and acknowledged there had been two accounts set up and they STILL won't credit me back. I'm going back to dispute charges, will be notifying other website retailers at the Internet Retailer annual conference, and posting about these thieves everywhere possible.

If you operate with this kind of unscrupulous conduct as authorize.net does, the word WILL get out.

They are like talking to a door knob----that steals from you!

Authorize Unethical practices

Authorize.net operates with unethical practices. I could not load their product to my website and they started billing me without clear communication. Their website is not user friendly. Their fees are not communicated very well, if they were I would not have been so surprised when a debit to my brand new business checking account hit. I was charged for the insuf. funds by them and my bank. a 10.00 charged cost me 58.00. I had not even gone live with their product before I was charged. I had started to fill out the set-up pages and then stopped, according to their unethical practices they consider that active. I did not have their seal loaded to my website like it said would happen yet they can charge me.

Authorize Stay away from them

This poor excuse of a merchant company “Authorize.net” put a hold on my transactions-deposits because they said I was over my limit. My company takes in over 1 million annually and “Authorize.net” held all my deposits over $1, 300 for 30-days. How am I suppose to pay my suppliers and my workers for the products we already shipped! “Authorize.net” almost put me out of business.

Since then we acquired a real merchant account with our bank direct. We now have a merchant machine on our desk direct to our bank.

We will never use an internet merchant account again, and we suggest you don’t ether.

This company is a scam, flat out. It took 3 weeks, 3 faxes and hours on the phone to close our account and they still charged us a month after the account was closed.

I telephoned CyberSource Australia to voice this complaint. I was told someone would ring me back, but they didn’t.

On the 29th October we opened two Payment Gateway accounts with Authorize.Net

On the 3rd December, we provided Authorize.Net with our Internet Merchant Facility Account Details.

On the 5th December, we launched our USA website.

It is now the 13th December and we are still unable to process credit card payments.

In the 8 days that our website has been live, we have suffered the most appalling customer service.

We have had many promises that people would get back to us, and they do not.

We have been given many excuses and reasons why Authorize.Net is unable to get our facility working.

However, to date, Authorize.Net has been unable to get the gateway to work.

We have dealt with many unhelpful people.

We asked the sales representative three times to provide us with the details of the most senior person in charge of your Australian operation, each time we were ignored.

This exercise has been extremely costly to us. We have lost sales and our online reputation is now damaged, because Authorize.Net is unable to get out payment gateway to work.

This letter of complaint was emailed to Cyber Source and ignored!

To help you out Tim Lin, you can check the ownership of the two IP numbers you cited: 208.57.144.25 is in the range as follows:
NetRange: 208.57.0.0 - 208.57.255.255 belongs to MPOWER COMMUNICATIONS CORP., 175 Sully's Trail, Suite 350, Pittsford, New York, 14534, US

The other IP you cited, 10.1.186.51 is hidden behind a shield at iana.org which anyone can hire to keep their ownership secret. You may want to tell your attorney, and he or she can subpoena the records and find the real owner.

Lastly, if you don't have legal counsel, you can get very inexpensive counsel with Legal Shield (I've no connection with them) you will find by using the Bing.com search engine and whatever state and city you're in.

Hope this help you. Companies that abuse their customers and then refuse to talk with you should be pursued IMO. Good luck.

Stay away from Authorize. Net at all costs! Terrible Customer Service!
Authorize.net double charges our customers without admitting their mistake. Several of our customers got charged again by Authorize.net two weeks after the original charges were processed. We only have one on-site accountant to manually input credit card information when it comes to charge customer’s credit card; however, Authorize.net keeps accusing us for having two accountant submitting charges at the same time. Their customer service is very awful or virtually non-existed. Below are the brief conversation logs with Authorize.net:
5 May 2011
When we first contacted their customer service representative, named Jessie, we were told that Authorize.net will never and ever initiate a duplicate charge without its customer enrolls in the payment reoccurrence program. We never enrolled in payment reoccurrence program in the past. In addition, our own investigation indicated that the duplicate charges were not the errors caused by our own employees.
6 May 2011
The next day we contacted Authorize.net again in seeking for an explanation. The call was handled by a person named Gunner. We requested to speak to his manager or supervisor, but were rejected. We told him we have had several customers who got duplicate charges by Authorize.net, but he was only willing to take one set of duplicate charges. We wanted to give him more information about other duplicate charges, but he refuses to take them. A ticket number ([protected]) was issued by Authorize.net as the result of this conversation.
9 May 2011
Monday, 9 May 2011, customers have kept calling us and questioned the pending duplicate charges. We called again and were helped by someone named Brandon M. At the end of the conversation, we were told that both the original and the duplicate charges came from the same IP address: 10.1.186.51. However, we did our own research and found that the IP address given is inconsistent with the IP address we use. IP address stating with 10 indicates that the address belongs to a private network. Authorize.net has been telling us that the case has been escalated for the review of its management. They still did not have a conclusive answer toward this incident.
10 May 2011
Called Authorize.net again and spoke to their supervisor, named Ben D. He kept insisting that the duplicate charges were caused by two accountants submitting payments at the same time. This time, their supervisor said the charges came from 208.57.144.25, which is the different IP address from the address they told us yesterday. Ben mentioned that 10.1.186.51 was authorize.net IP address, but had no idea why this IP address was given to us yesterday. However, based on our record, the duplicate charges are submitted at least one credit card information every second. In some cases, the two credit card numbers were submitted instantaneously. In other words, this is not likely to be submitted by a human being since the average processing time to input credit card numbers takes about 45 seconds or longer. We have urged Authorize.net to get back to us with a solution before 5:00pm PST or we will file a lawsuit against the company if no results are given before deadline.
To Authorize.net Management:
The duplicate charges made by Authorize.net without our consent are illegitimate and have severely damaged our company’s business reputation. We do not mean to leave this negative feedback online; however, we have no choice. We have been using your service over three years and we know how to use your virtual terminal when it comes to charge customer’s credit card. Your customer service representatives have failed to address this critical issue in a timely manner, talked to us with a terrible attitude, refused to take immediate action for further investigation, and accused us of submitting duplicate charges. We hope the management of Authorize.net will call its own customer service number at [protected] and get a feeling from its unhelpful customer representatives. We hope for those who have viewed this message to think twice if they decide to use Authorize.net as their payment processor.
Our company has saved both regular and irregular transactions processed by Authorize.net. Any person who has questions about details of this incident can email us at: chantinglin@hotmail.com

We've also had a horrible experience with the Authorize.Net support. There is simply NO HUMAN AVAILABLE on the other side. And they charged an unknown fee on our bank account even before we've submitted our application! Avoid at all cost, because they will not respond to your complaints when you have any issue.
