Audible monthly charges unauthorized!!

Hello all,

Please know that I originally joined Audible in early 2014 for 1 month. After I tried the 30 day trial, I decided to join for 3 months. At the end of 3 months, I cancelled (or thought I did) my membership. Only to find out, the following month I was billed via my debit card yet again, and again, and again, and yet one more time again. Until, I closed my checking account and cancelled my credit card that I had for 8 years! One would think, this would have worked.

Hell no! I am an Amazon Prime member and user and use Amazon for not only my personal shopping but my corporate and professional use too. The corporation that I work for hast given to me corporate Visa Card to use for my business expenses (AND ONLY) for company expenses. IE: pens, copy paper, airlines tickets, hotels etc. So, I'm doing my weekly expense report to turn into my employer and find a charge for 15.96 back last July 2016. "Hmmm, that's weird, I didn't buy anything from Audible last month" I'm saying to myself. So, I call my company and tell them. We cancel my card due to unauthorized charges. Get re issued a new card and the same thing happens! My company that I work with at this time is thinking I have charged another 15.96 transaction to Audible using their card unauthorized...I argue, and demand to see the transaction, and ultimately I GET WRITTEN UP AT WORK for this charge.

Well, I find out this evening that Audible found it necessary to continue my bogus membership even though I had cancelled it and decided "The Prime Amazon membership credit cards on your account, have been charged for Audible for the past 10 months." When I asked who authorized this I was told my customer service "it's in our terms and conditions that we reserve the right to use cards on file" Now, I do not claim to be a banker or a fraud investigator or even an attorney. However, I am a successful business women who has been so for 30+ years and I KNOW this IS FRAUD! So, after getting written up and now having a question regarding my integrity with my career corporation residing in my personal HR file, to say I am pissed off is an complete and utter understatement!

However, in the wonderful internet and all Wifi type world in which we live, there is NO ONE at Audible that will take my call in management or anywhere else for that matter! Thus me writing this down to possibly save others from this so called company and their rip off unauthorized credit card scam!

If any one else out there has experienced this kind of unprofessional crap, please reach out to me so we can join a class action suit against this corporation.

Kind regards,

C Black

Audible double billing even I cancel the membership!!!

About three days ago, I opened the golden membership on audible and got one credit, and use that one credit for one book, and then i cancel the membership because i can't finish one book in a month. So I usually just open the membership at every several months. And I received the receipt email, one is 17 dollars with tax, the other one is 0, because the second bill, the book, it's bought by Audible credit. But, today I check my bank bill, I was charged twice at 16th of November, each time was 17 dollars. This is double Charge! I only buy one book by one credit given by the membership! How come 34 dollars! This is cheating! If I didn't check the bank, audible can just take away my money! And above all, my receipt I get was 17 dollars and 0 dollars, because the last one is bought by a credit!

I switched to charter cable, maybe two years ago. At that time i received a kindle fire. All charter payments were drafted from a bank account shared by my 84 year old daddy and i. I neglected to check behind him in looking for recurring charges. Big mistake!!! I have been or we have been paying $14.95 a month, not knowing. This has been going on for year...

Audible unsolicited billing

Amazon Audible is billing me $14.95 every month for a service that I did not request, and do not have an audible account with them. I am a member of Amazon Prime services and I'm sure that's where they got my credit card information. I checked the Internet and noticed that this is happening to others. I am in the process of fighting for a refund, but want to warn Prime members to look for this extra charge on their credit card statements...major scam!

Audible fraud, obtaining credit info via backdoor methods, unethical behavior

I think the way you obtain credit card info from Amazon is unethical. I think the fact you can cont billing without ever having to notify or contact the customer by utilizing credit cards added to amazon is done purposely to conceal monthly charges from a customer who "forgets" about the electronic "free trial"- Without collecting credit card info for the free trial you make it easy for a customer to forget about the trial. No follow up notification or need to EVER need the customer to continue billing monthly fees. No one gives credit card info without hesitating for a free trail... cause we have all been PRE charged in the past by some shady advertisement... you bypassed that by obtaining our credit cards without NEEDING the customer. It is absolutely a shady process that obviously scams many people for months of being unaware of 15$/mth subscription. Multiple people have complained of this "process" and you continue to profit. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.audible.com

I will not return as a customer- you have taken advantage and deceived me. Shame- cause I would have actually purchased audiobooks regularly to make the 15$/ mth a good deal... alas even as a subscriber it is unclear to a pre-existing Amazon prime customer the way the credits and prime membership overlap. Shame on Audible and Amazon in this backdoor partnership to swindle money.
I was literally enrolled for 3 years without being aware- Kudos on a fantastic scam. I was charge for audio books I purchased from Amazon and got occasional free books if they were audible... but it was assumed to be a amazon prime rewards program... cause I was never aware I was a "gold" member in Audible. The 14.98 charges on my credit card never showed up in my Amazon billing... but it utilized the credit cards I updated in Amazon for ordering. The charges were 14.98 and really went unnoticed... always figured my hubby or that the book i got was just showing up...

After reading all the cases of how ### your company ethics are... I wonder if I ever EVEN signed up for the "trial"! Seems like many people never ever heard of the trial... yet billing started.

I was refunded 6 months of the 3 years. They even caused fees on the Amazon credit card (last year) .. cause I couldn't figure out how it kept having a late fees... cancelled the card... reported fraud charges... just realized the EXTENT of the trouble all of this came to light. So so so so angry.

Audible unauthorized monthly charges of $14.95 on credit card

On June 20, 2016 and July 18, 2016 I was charged $14.95 on my account. I DID NOT authorized these charges nor did I have knowledge of them until this moment.

Something is not right here and apparently I haven't been the only person this is happening to!

it smells of fraud to me!

I deleted my credit card from the amazon website which really sucks for non fraudulent purchases

Yes I agree with complaint that somehow this company is pulling a fast one over unsuspecting people, and has been doing so for a long time.
Most people don't check their banking or credit card statements carefully, so charges like these just get glossed over.
There is a lot of this kind of fraudulent billing going on that people should be made aware of.

I was "lucky" to have caught 2 charges for $14:95 on my bank statement like you did. I called my bank since there was no contact info listed on my statement to contact Audible and told them these charges were unauthorized by me.
My bank reversed the charges and made me whole again, but like you I wonder how many unsuspecting people are getting ripped off by this shady company apparently associated with Amazon.

I don't know how long audible has been taking $14.95 month from my credit card and trying to cancel and have them return my money is near impossible. I'll ask Capital one to go after them. This company should be forced to return all the money they stole from people.

Audible used their free trial and was charged for who knows what

I have signed up for a 90 day free trial. I accidentally found Audible and was really happy to find a place with such a huge variety of audio books. I decided to try their free service first before paying for full subscription.
Well, I decided to listen to one of the books and really liked the quality and etc. But the same day I've noticed a charged of $15 and immediately contacted customer service with no luck getting a response.
I immediately cancelled my account but never got my money back. Total fraud!

Audible fraud

On April 29th, 2016 I did a search on google for an audiobook. I found it on audiobookstore.com. So I went ahead and purchased it for $5.95. At the time they were offering a gold membership for $5.95 which I refused. On May 28th there was a charge for $5.95 on my card from them! So I went on their website saw that they have enrolled me into the membership on their own without letting me know and charged my card again. I cancelled my membership that I never enrolled in and decided to forget about the $5.95 and just eat it up. Six days later they charged my card again but this time the charge was $15.85! So on that day I called my bank and was told that to open a dispute will cost me $35.00 so instead I cancelled my card to save the money and decided to eat another unauthorized charge. The bank sent me an ATM card instead of a regular debit card which I couldn't use it to shop online. Finally after making a couple of phone calls to my bank, they send me the right debit card after 30 days of waiting. Meantime I started using my other bank debit card and put the information about the card on Amazon website. I was paying all of my house monthly utility bills, insurances and a lot of other bills with my old bank debit card. So I had to contact all of those providers and give them the other bank debit card so I can make my payments. Things were going well until all of a sudden I get a charge of $15.85 from Audible, NJ [protected] on July 6th. All these 3 months I did not make any audiobooks from audiobookstore.com or Audible which turns out that they are both the same. Remember my first purchase was not through Amazon. Audible is a subsidiary of Amazon I found out later. They obtained my 2nd bank credit card information from my Amazon file and used it on July 6 to charge me another $15.85. I called my second bank and asked them to start a dispute. They instead said they don't do that and all they do is to close/cancel the card. I begged them not to but they said since it was used fraudulently, they had no choice but to cancel and close the card! So I lost two debit card because of these idiots. I did some search again on google and someone has said that I need to go through Amazon to resolve my case. Once I followed the link and after a few tries I found the Audible's phone number which is [protected]. Remember at this time I had no credit or a debit cards to make any purchase or pay any bills! Two hours ago I went to my 2nd bank and withdrew a large sum of money to survive the next 2-3 weeks until I get my new cards. I went through all these ### because I purchase an audiobook which I wish I never had. I've gone through so much stress and frustration that you can't imagine. What they have done to me & others was pure financial abuse and fraud and I'm sure Amazon knows about them but continues to let them come in and steal credit card information from Amazon database. It's unbelievable. I was so angry this afternoon, I called Audible at [protected]. Once I started talking to them, I could tell that they are in overseas perhaps in china or Korea something like that. They speak like robots and make you repeat and repeat the things you tell them! and they keep telling me I enrolled in their membership but I keep telling them that I did not enroll in anything and I even went and cancelled once I saw that few months back but she kept repeating the same god damn script that was in front of her! I must have been on the phone for a total of 45 minutes. I told them that I want all of my money back minus the first $5.95. First they didn't want to do that. So I told them that I will get in touch with Amazon and FCC no matter how long it take and will join a class action lawsuit. I demanded to speak with their supervisor. Finally I spoke with the supervisor and she said that she will terminate my membership and with refund all of my money. She said to give her my card number. I said I don't have any (with angry voice). I had to close all of them because of what you have done to me! She couldn't understand that! I said you have one choice and that is to mail me a check and send me e-mails to verify the things we talked about and that you have terminated my membership and my refund. I was screaming from the top of my lung. That was the only way to get action from these m*th*r f%@kers. I got my money back. I just wanted to write this and tell you what it takes to end your nightmare with them. Good Luck. Now I’ve got to setup my debit cards again with the payees which is going to take a long time and a lot of hassle.

Audible fraudulent charges

I decided to try Audible and signed up but they automatically charged me for 6 months without my permission. I sent them tons of messages but they ignored me, then I called and spoke to one of their reps. They said that refund was not possible, but I was very pushy and annoying and called almost every day. They finally gave up and offered me a refund. I received my money back and everything ended up well for me, but seeing all the reviews online makes me think that I was just lucky. Better stay away from this place!

Audible I had no idea I was a member!

I joined www.audible.com and somehow I signed up for a membership. I had no idea I was a Audible member until they started to take my money. I called the company and asked them to cancel my membership and they started to tell me that I'm doing a big mistake and told that I was a satisfied customer for over a year. What? I found this site about two months ago and never used it before! They did cancel my membership and I was finally free, but the sad part was that they refused to refund me. Ridiculous situation.

Audible charges to credit card

I just noticed a charge on my credit card from Audible. Upon further research I discover that they have hit my credit card for a total of $344 over a period of time. I have never given them my credit card details. Online research into audible suggests that they got my credit card details from Amazon.

If this is true, I am never letting Amazon have my credit card info again.

Audible fraud

I received charge in my debit account of $14.95 in May of 2015 from the company named AUDIBLE NJ which I never heard of before. I called them, they said this is the renewal of the amazon account charge. I don't remember having Amazon account either. I work for the library and I have plenty of books and audio books when I need it. Asked for the name of a representative, he didn't want to give it to me and the same time he was asking me for my e-mail address, for my last four digit of bank account etc... I asked for a supervisor. She was the same, could not explain anything, would not give me her last name.
I had to call my bank and block that company from charging me. Now I have to watch it! what a pain! My question is: why a company like Amazon works with AUDIBLE? it is obviously FRAUD! and why after so many complaints on this website they are still operating and stealing people's money?

Audible.com must be the worst company on the face of the planet. I did not sign up but they started charging my credit card every month. I ultimately had to report it as fraud and cancel my credit card which created so many headaches. Thanks Audible.com!

Audible fraud for &free trial& offer

I found a $14.95 per month charge on my bank account that I did not purchase anything from Audible for. I tried contacting them on multiple occasions and contacting my bank to see what it was. No one at the bank could stop the charges. I finally got through the 1-888 number which was listed with the charge to my account and am getting a huge refund back to 1 year~! I had not used the Amazon card in over a year when I was purchasing books for graduate school and did not buy any audible books. The rep on the phone said that I had not cancelled a "free trial" and it started charging me $14.95/month! I told the guy that I had contacted an attorney and if I didn't get the complete refund of everything I had been charged; they would hear from him and a lawsuit would be forthcoming. I was then disconnected but the guy called me right back and asked me why I HUNG UP...Really? I will never use Amazon or Audible again and I suggest that NO ONE DOES! Please pass this on to everyone you know.

Dear Amazon,

I was charge today by 14.95 dollars for audible. I never used this service and never registered. I don't really know how could that happen. I attached the photo from my bank account. Please take a look and kindly ask you to refund the fee.

Audible lost book credits?

I have been seeing tons of complaints around the web about Audible’s practice of seizing book credits that its users have already paid for.

Has anyone lost Audible.com book credits after cancelling? Or lost credits for exceeding their monthly carry-over limit?

I am an attorney working on this issue and would love to speak with anyone who has experienced any loss of Audible.com book credits. Our communications would remain confidential.

Feel free to contact me directly: [protected]@igc.org

Thanks!

I signed up for Audible for the "free audiobook" promotion. I figured I would just cancel after the month because I'm a student and I really can't afford a ton of month charges. I downloaded my one audio book and a month later saw a charge on my card for $14.95. I panicked and went to Audible's site to remove my subscription immediately. As I'm going through to remove my credit card information for them to stop billing me Audible pops up with a message telling me that in order to do so my credits would be removed. I figured I would be refunded for the credits since they were never used. Otherwise, why would a company remove credits from your account? Luckily I wasn't an avid Audible user and I only lost $15.

Audible taking things that don't belong to them

Hi my name is Christine Buss! I have been a member to audible. since the year 2010 the year 2012 I spent Close to $5000 in audible books. I have discussed this With the first supervisor I have ever talk to at Audible. I discussed that I had 487 titles and 18 titles were missing. He was very Belligerent races in the Belittling my situation. He would not let me get a word in edge wise he was Talking over the top of me every time I would bring up something that I thought was very important me and should be talked about. He still was talking over-the-top for me until I started yelling at him, so my complaint Would be heard. I explained to him that on December 10, 2012 I renewed my membership twice. Also I don't remember if that was the same date I returned several titles. I thought I was stuck with the titles from Robyn Carr that I did not like All along with cold Mountain, bag of bones, silent Spring, and a couple of other books that I can't remember right this moment. At this point it was out of control a manager in that situation should not have let this get out of control like he did. I then asked him to add up all of the books the books and what I spent there and it was close to $5000. I then Was told that Audible did not need anymore money that they made enough money and that he would be canceling my account even though I had one credit left. I have talk to several people and no one has done anything about this situation I am missing18 titles and I don't know where they went! Two weeks prior to noticing this I had 487 titles in my library and on my iPhone. I got Curious when my library said I had only 462 titles. I then looked at my tablet and my tablet was not hooked up to the Internet For quite some time. The tablet did say I had 487 titles in my library. I refresh my tablet and it had then said I had 462 titles in my library. There are 18 titles Or credits That are missing. I did not keep track of every book that I bought from audible. I thought Audible Was a TRUST WORTHY COMPANY. I DID NOT THINK THAT AUDIBLE WOULD DO SUCH A THING. ALL OVER 18 CREDITS THAT I PURCHASED AND THEN TOOK AWAY A YEARS WORTH OF MEMBERSHIP THAT I ALSO PURCHASED. SHAME ON AUDIBLE! I HAVE GIVEN ON AUDIBLE THREE WEEKS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS SITUATION AND AUDIBLE HAS DONE NOTHING! I AM SURE THE READERS ON MY FACEBOOK WOULD BE INTERESTED TO KNOW WHAT AUDIBLE HAS DONE. AS WELL AS THE PEOPLE I KNOW.
