I pay for a Yellow Page listing with my normal telephone business listing. A telemarketer with AT&T called several years ago and convinced me to add an additional listing for $16/month, which I agreed to. I got no calls from the listing, and AT&T continually raised the price. In November of 2008, I informed AT&T I no longer wished the additional listing to appear in the books that were to be published in 2009. They printed the listing anyway. I paid for the advertising through February, 2009, which was my obligation, and requested that they discontinue billing me for services that I had terminated. They continued to bill, and then attached my telephone number to an automatic dialing machine which calls my number multiple times a day with no one immediately on the line, nor do they leave a message. The calls commence around 8 AM and continue throughout the day. When I finally talked to a real person at AT&T, she was exceptionally rude. I informed her that I had discontinued service with AT&T in 2008, and she informed me that the harassing collection calls would continue and immediately slammed the phone down in my ear. It was as unprofessional conduct as I have experienced in over 40 years as a business owner. All this over approximately $200 of service that I never authorized. They are a pitiful company and I would advise anyone to stay clear of them!

I have had the exact same experience. $29 ad for bold listing was terminated the year before. At&T advertising recorded someone that answered the my phone and verified my address and AT&T says that binds a new contract and sent me to collections. Very unethical and rude customer service.
