Assurant Solutions not willing to cover costs of repairs

We purchased a used motor home.in order to protect ourselves from unforeseen expensive repairs, the company we purchased the motorhome from sold us a $3700.00 policy from assurant. Once we got the unit home, we had a local motor home shop thoroughly go through the engine, transmission, etc. There were several issues found to be wrong with the motor home. None of the reputable repair shops that we took the motor home to for repair would accept the job if they had to work with assurant - reason given, they never pay up.
We collected three different bids from three reputable repair shops and submitted them to assurant. All were within a few hundred dollars of each other. The standard shop labor rate in south dakota is $110.00 an hour for work like this. Assurant will only pay $80.00 an hour.in addition, the time they were allowing for the job was less than 1/2 the time allocated by any of the three shops. We talked to numerous people at assurant, never the same one, supervisors were always in meetings.
We finally ended up taking the offer by assurant and getting the motor home into a shop. The bad news is yet to be seen. Even though an assurant inspector has given us a "quote", we have to submit the final bill. Assurant will then reimburse us via a credit card. From talking with the shops who have done work with assurant before, we will be lucky to get half our money back. Two lessons learned - 1) assurant is a rip off insurance company. 2) buy vehicles only through reputable dealers who stand behind their product!

Marvie's post amazes me. Her comments about not standing behind your products and not paying up are pure hypocrisy.

Assurant Solutions insurance

This is by far the worse insurance company i've ever had to deal with. I've had blue cross blue shield, humana, altius, afflac and assurant. With 3 children we have to have insurance. We had a $5000 maternity deductible and $10000 major medical deductible. After we met the $5000 maternity deductible we continued to receive bills unpaid by the insurance. We called assurant and discovered that they considered the entire pregnancy and delivery ' high risk.' because as the time of ultrasound 21 weeks, the umbilical cord was near the baby's neck! We had to obtain all medical records and highlight each dr., technician, and nurses notes that reported everything to be normal. 11 appeals to review claims, 10 months, and several phone calls later, we are still fighting them every step of the way. One claim had to be reviewed 4 times before it was corrected! After much stress and headache we are down to the last $200 of $7000 they were going to make us pay in addition to the $5000 deductible.

This insurance company does not follow procedures. They will deduct money from your account for insurance before the date of your actual insurance. I already had insurance and had paid my premium for two months. They were not to take any funds before the termination of my existing policy. I spoke with them at 2:00 p.m. and they took out the premium out of my account within 2 hours. When I called them they said that once the policy has been approved, they take the funds within 24 to 48 hours. These funds were taken in 2 hours. I called to cancel this insurance, guess what they will not give you a refund until 7 to 10 days later by mail. Luckily I had not cancelled my existing policy. Now I have paid twice in one month for insurance. They say that they are affiliated with my present insurance, so why deduct funds. I would not recommend this insurance company. Also when the information was sent in written form, they do not cover anything, you will have too much out of pocket expenses. So I have lost $25.00 processing fees, lets hope I get my refund in 7 to 10 days. DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS INSURANCE!

Completely agree. Sounds like a similar plan. It's a nightmare. We spend hours on the phone with them every week explaining every little claim to them, that they always inevitably blame on poor coding from every physician office we have. At one point, we discovered that the 1st code on a claim, if denied, denies the whole lot. We had to go back to physician billing offices to recode a whole bunch of claims so that the 1st code was not one that would get denied. What kind of crap is that? Shouldn't be legal. Anyway, that was confirmed by someone on the phone we talked to, and after recoding, some claims went through. Doesn't matter if it's for a physical, for pregnancy, anything and everything they will delay every claim and try to find anything they can pin on a pre-existing condition, or last resort bad coding (to delay) to opt out of applying payments to deductibles, and on and on and on. Absolutely ludicrous. No doubt, their tactic is to delay, postpone, come up with excuses, so that eventually you'll buckle of exasperation and pay the physicians directly.

Assurant Solutions denying my brake booster repair

Currently dealing with this "fine" company. The dealer says I need a new brake booster ($850.00) due to the fact a part failed internally. The brake booster is clearly covered on my contract.

The dealer told the warranty company what part failed (inside the booster) and they promptly told them the claim was denied because the internal part was not covered. The brake booster is not serviceable and the parts inside only come with a new brake booster. They still say its not covered even though the repair order states the brake booster needs replacement.

I have plead my case four times today and was told they took it to their review board who also denied it. This company appears to be a scam! I dealt with aftermarket warranty companies for years and never did I get this run-a-round. More to come... Very, very pissed!

Assurant Solutions extremely poor customer service

I called assurant solutions regarding my 5 year warranty for an lg tv I purchased through circuit city. We were struck by lightening in july of 2010 (2 1/2 yrs into the warranty) and requested a pro-rated refund, because the tv was destroyed. After faxing the requested information 4 times, numerous hour long phone calls, it is now january 2011 and I still do not have my refund. I did speak with customer service representatives that tried to help me, but they are not provided access to the information they need to help. The supervisors that I spoke with were rude and had no desire to help me. I won't give up on getting what's owed to me, but I will never purchase another warranty through assurant solutions. It has been the worst customer service experience i've ever had.

Assurant Solutions delayed payment

My customer purchased an extended warranty for his motor home in 2007 from a dealer in oregon. The stabilizer jacks on the motorhome stopped working, one had to be repaired and one had to be replaced. The bill came to well over $3000. The claim was started on july 7, 2010 with a phone call explaining the problem. A verbal approval was given to replace and fix the jacks. After the work was completed, we make another phone call to the company to tell them the work was completed and to file a claim. I was told that the work had not been approved and no amount of discussion would bring them to understand that on repairs like this, the amount of the repair is not completely known until all the work was completed. The company then requested verification that the work was completed with a complete list of the parts that were replaced and repaired. After this information was sent (they would not accept a fax) via snail-mail, the claim was questioned again. The problem with the jacks was a complex problem that included the control board as well as the jacks themselves and the time to diagnose, fix, re-diagnose when the first "fix" did not completely resolve the problem, so the diagnose took a lot of time. After 3-months of refusals, delaying, and asking for more information, the "approved" amount was cut by nearly $1000. The final approval was given on the 30th of september, it is now the 2nd of december and we are still waiting for the check. A telephone call today told me that it could take as long as december 27th for the check to be processed.

This is no way to run a business, and want anyone looking at this company for an extended warranty to read this story.

Assurant Solutions worst company i've dealt with!

I had similar experience with other people. I regret so much that I didn't check out the online info before I bought the policy from assurant! I was forced to get rental insurance for an apartment through my son's apartment complex, and I bought the policy via geico. I paid the policy by credit card through geico, but apparently geico passed my credit card info to assurant. I am very upset with geico about this and will change my auto insurance with them because of this. After my son graduated from college and moved out of the apartment in may 2010, it was so difficult to get the policy cancelled. First assurant wants an email to cancell the policy, we cannot cancel the policy over the phone. I don't understand why since we bought the policy over the phone. After that, assurant needed the landlord to fax them the "proof" that my son had moved out of the apartment. I didn't understand that either since we bought the policy and we should be able to cancel the policy anytime for any reason. As the "cancellation process" dragged on, they've automatically charged my credit card for another year (from november 2010 to november 2011)! I was outraged and called them that i've never agreed that they could auto-charge my credit card. But they said that it's company policy that if they have my credit card number on file, then that means they can charge it unless I cancel the policy. I have never agreed to have my credit card on their file and never signed anything like that, but they said they've informed me that my credit card info was on their file... It's their words against mine, and I felt I was held financial hostage by this company. They are not able to produce any signed doc from me to say that I let them charge my credit card. This practice is criminal. I will alos take this to consumer protection.

Assurant Solutions fraudulent credit card charges

I took out a temporary health insurance policy with assurant health for the month of june.
I continued being billed $300 for the next 4 months till the month of october on my credit card. I never received a bill from assurant and never authorized them to make these deductions from my credit card.
I got on the phone and talked to them clarifying that since I never signed up for more than a month of health insurance, had a separate insurance from the month of july and never used their health insurance that they should refund some of the amount. I was told that this is something they will clearly not do. As a consequence I had to cancel my credit card to prevent them from charging it.
If you sign up with assurant health be prepared for similar treatment.

Assurant Solutions billing issues

I again have received an invoice which again shows I owe more that I actually owe.

1. Invoice date [protected] - shows contract amount $1, 058, 370.95 and a payment due of $88, 180.82 - all this for ge appliances.

2. Invoice date [protected] - shows contract amount $894.65 which is the correct contract amount and a payment due of $74.54 which was paid.

3. Invoice date 9-9-10 - shows contract amount $894.65 but a payment due of $223.60 which is incorrect and I spoke with mir at assurant and he advised that I only owed a payment of $74.50 which I paid.

4. Invoice date 10-9-10 shows contract amount $894.65 with a payment due of $223.60 again which is incorrect. I only owe $74.56.

I want to know when this company will get their billing issues resolved because my calling them has not resolved the issue!

Assurant Solutions computer repair

I will add my complaint to the other ones on this site! Assurant solutions is a joke! I have been on the phone with them four different times for at least an hour each time and the ultimate result of this time is nothing! The people I spoke with didn't care about their lack of customer service and I will obviously never get my computer fixed. The first time I called I explained that, through normal wear and tear, my left mouse button was no longer working and that the space bar on the keyboard was broken in all but one spot. They had me send the computer to them. They sent it back unrepaired. They claimed it had liquid damage which they had pictures of and, therefore, the warranty wasn't valid. My computer had not had any liquid spilled on it while it was in my care - the keyboard area was, however, incredibly dirty and sticky when I received it back... Makes you wonder who caused the liquid damage. I will never, ever purchase a computer or any other piece of technology from any company who uses assurant solutions as their "warranty" company.

Assurant Solutions rip off

I was out of town and had to have my truck towed into a dealership to have repairs made to get back home. I did not have my warranty information on hand and could not get ahold of the dealership where if bought my truck from to get the information. I submitted a claim for reimbursement and was denied due to not having prior approval.. They do not privide any concessions to emergency situations. As I informed them, would you have to call a life insurance company to ask if you could die first. Long story short do not deal with this company as it is a waste of money and time and effort..

Assurant Solutions doesn't honor warranty

I paid for a an extended warranty when I purchased a 2 year old car with 20k miles on it. About 3 years 8 months later, I had repeated issues with the vehicle running rough, moments of barely running, then seemingly operating okay — except that the engine warning light was on. Occasionally flickering on and off. There was about 70k miles on the vehicle, regular maintenance had been performed, and the timing belt and a couple other belts had been replaced 3 months prior.

The dealer tried to work with first extended service corp to have them cover the repairs. They kept insisting I put more and more of my own money into the vehicle to check various things before they would agree to cover. Eventually the problem was narrowed down to the point that repairs would cost over $4, 000. As I recall, it was a problem with valves and lack of compression (i'm a woman that doesn't know much about cars, but I believe that was the issue). Anyway, first extended wanted me to put another $1, 300 into the vehicle before they would decide if they would cover everything. I could not keep putting more and more money into this just to have them decide not to cover under the warranty.

Long story short, I traded in the vehicle for something new with a 10k warranty on it! My complaint does not end there. I still had unused warranty on the first vehicle so I following instuctions on my original warranty paperwork to get a refund on unused warranty. That was the beginning of march. Two months later, I have had my claim returned to me by the postal service twice as "unable to foward". No address I can find for this place seems to be valid. Very, very unhappy that I didn't get to use the warranty and now cannot even get a refund on the unused portion!

Assurant Solutions beware

This company does not send me a bill even though I have not signed a statement saying it is ok not to do so. They did not notify me when they could not process a premium payment, and waited a couple days to write up a letter and send it to me in order to make sure my policy and grace period had both lapsed by the time it arrived. Since I had no notification of a problem there was no way to avoid it's lapse. After speaking to a representative who claimed she filed new credit card information and waived the "reinstatment fee" (they did this because I am also an insurance producer and called them out on this crap) I call again a couple days later to recheck on the account. They then informed me that they were "unable" to process the credit card (I called my bank, it works just fine) and gave me less than 2 hours to call back to try to reinstate the policy again. They also suggested I call my agent who was conveniently out of town. Overall this is disgusting and fraudulent conduct. If I as a member of the same industry cannot work out these issues with assurant health I do not see how a normal person with no knowledge of the insurance laws could possibly accomplish anything. And on a professional note it is this type of behavior that not only tarnishes the name of other insurance companies but makes me ashamed to be associated with these people.

Assurant Health is the absolute worst "health insurance company, ” if they could be compared to one.

We would be happy to join anyone on a bad faith lawsuit against this company based on the lack coverage, as well price gouging with routine doctor visits or required pay visits not covered that is passed back to the person buying their cr** policies.

We received a notice from a 2010 doctors visit for our son that stated we owed money that was not covered by a doctor’s visit, and immunizations that are covered & required by law via a health insurance provider, along with an interest penalty. They also did not contact us for years regarding a bill that was denied for a routine doctors visit until 6 years later also demanding interest on what should have covered by state law, as what the doctor informed us at time of the visit.

We were outright lied to by the person selling us on the policy regarding coverage, and also would join a false advertising class action lawsuit regarding this as well.

Please contact us to join in on a class action suit, Attorney inquiries are welcome. Nick Teti [protected]

Assurant is a JOKE!
Six months ago, I ended up in the ER. Assurant has refused to pay any of my bill. They have given me the run-around and I've spent a lot of time on the phone or sending e-mails trying to get this straightened out. So far, they did pay a generous (sarcasm intended) $2.50 and $10.00 towards some of my ER expenses.
I finally filed a complaint with my state's Insurance Division and was assigned a consumer advocate to help me make some headway with Assurant.
I'm anxious to see what the outcome will be. I'm not expecting much from this sorry excuse for an insurance company.
Assurant should be sued for fraud. I paid $471.00 a month for nothing. They are liars and con artists.
I cancelled my policy and would warn anyone else to stay away from Assurant.

Assurant Health is one of the most incompetent insurance providers I've every worked with. Good thing they are stopping their Major Medical in January. It is just a scam to to take your money and run. I should have figured out in the beginning that they were awful when it took them 2 months to get me signed up because they operator couldn't get my name right.. Since then, they promptly charge me $750 a month and have given me nothing for it. I have a full policy to supplement my SSA, since I have many medical expenses. They don't coordinate with SSA (?) so I have to pay 20% out of my pocket and then try to get them to reimburse (which is close to impossible). Today they rejected my medication submissions because I didn't supply my pharmacy receipt with my claims (who needs that). I spend hours on the phone each week, trying to get to a manager who can help me. I feel like a full time insurance agent.
Additionally it's taken them over 6 months of run arounds to finally get the right process for Assurant to cover my most expensive drug -- with costs over $1200 a month. It's SO disheartening.
I also think about those who don't understand their very complicated instructons. What in the world do they do? It's robbery and it's sad.
Am thinking about dropping them for the rest of the year and just eating the 20%. It will prove to be cheaper.

Just incredibly disappointed.

We were sold a Major Health plan from Assurant Health and when my husband had a stroke we were to it was just a supplement plan for the hospital stay. It will only pay $2000 a day for the room and now we don't think it is even going to pay that. Does anyone know of a class action suit against them we can become part of? MGDB@northstate.net

I intend to report Assurant Health Insurance to any Insurance agency that will listen. I have had a life with them for almost 3 years. I pay $148. per month. In the last three years they paid maybe $200.00. I have called and complained and they said that if something terrible happened to me they would pay for it up to 2, 000.000.000. I received a letter from Assurant encouraging me to visit my obgyn and also to get a mamagram. I did do that. They would not cover any of this. I contacted them and stated that they had sent this letter. Ther comment was that if I got tested and I did have cancer they would then cover it. They also will not cover my lab cost and only paid $25 to the obgyn. I asked how they could be so nice about it. I have a limited policy which was never explained when they tried to sell it to me. I have also had melanoma in the past on chest and face. Every six months I get checked out. My Dr. stated that the most important thing he could do for my face without marking up was to do a photopdyynamic therapy, the blue blue light treatment to cover all marks on my face. The cost $800 for each treatment (2 treatments required) Assurant stated that this was indeed a procedure that was needed and they would pay $25.00 per session. At this point I'm looking at all the money I have paid out and they have paid for nothing. When I have a prescription I have to tell them I have not health insurance because somehow when we first tried to run a prescription thru we where charged 4x's the amount. Go figure . Where did you go wrong their. I will report you for what happened to me only because you did not make me aware when you offered this insurance that you would not cover preventive coverage but you would cover any tradegty coverage. How sad is that. Your have not interity, Funny enough I had one of your agents try to call me and sell it again not knowing I was a client/sadly of Assurant

Assurant Health approved a surgery, I had the surgery and then 4 weeks later I got a letter telling me they retroactively canc'd my policy. They didn't pay the bills, I got stuck with 35k . The reason they stated was fraud. They stated I failed to disclose a pre existing condition. I had no pre existing condition. My Dr wrote a letter stating it was not pre existing. It has been four years and nobody will insure me because they have fraud in my MIB file now. I called several attorneys, they all told me you can't win fighting this you can try and go broke. I am now writing Congress, Newspapers, anyone with an ear. ASSURANT HEALTH HAS RUINED MY LIFE.

Assurant Solutions alternator totally failed/ no reimbursement/no good reason

The alternator totally failed in mo on trip from tx to il. Had to be replaced. No reimbursement after filing with receipts for repairs and a rent car.. Reason was: no mechanical failure. No chance to discuss etc. A total rip off of the $1684 I paid for the policy. Car was within the terms of the contract and all receipts provided for verification. No chance to discuss via telephone. The failure cost me emergency transportation charges of $663 in addition to $573 for the repairs. The rent car was necessary for me to reach a family funeral and I could not wait for repairs. Incident was within the time and milage of the agreement. Never again will I have an extended service agreement.

Assurant Solutions fraud during the sale of contract

I want everyone to know not to purchase an extended warranty from this company. I purchased two: one for my Kitchenaid dishwasher and one for my Kitchenaid convection oven and microwave combination.

Both appliances are from the Superba collection and they both have springs broken in their hinge system which causes the doors to slam open, rather than gradually open. When I purchased the service contracts over the phone, the salesperson said there were no exclusions.

When the contracts arrived, I filed them away because there is a 60 day waiting period.

Apparently, in the written contract, hinges are specifically excluded, although when I read paragraph 14, I can not find that anywhere.

The company refuses to admit their fraud when selling me the contracts and has only refunded a prorated amount.

Here is the kicker- they sent someone out to fix the hinges and then cancelled my contracts. Apparently one department doesn't know what the other department is doing.

Anyway, don't buy from them - there is no way to tell what you are really buying.

Assurant solutions does not stand behind the warranty from circuit city like they claim to do on the website. I have a 50"plasma tv that has a"match head"size red dot in the center of it. They sent a repair tech out. Tech said panel needs to be replaced. Panel was not available anymore. They said if they could repair it they would replace it. After no call backs from them I called to see what was going on. They told me that a match head size red dot in the center my tv does not constitute a deffect and that a burnt out pixel is within the"manufacturers normal specs"... What the hell?$200 for a protection plan for nothing.. I have never seen a tv in the store that advertises"hey buy this one its has an annoying red dot in the center"they just give you the run around and transfer your from person to person, dept. To dept. And asked about a refund, they give you a p.O. Box # in the middle of nowhere and tell you to write a letter... Wow take peoples money and dont do crap for em. I wish I could run my business like that and still make $...

Hi degees909,

My name is Armando Calvo I am involved with a company Called Pre-paid legal Services we deal with situations like yours and various others all the time. So trust i know exactly what your going through samething happened to me with a company not to long ago for a laptop the company would not honor the warranty that they were supposed to honor however through prepaid legal my Attorneys sent a letter on my behalf and shortly after the Company called me to come pick up my new Hp laptop at a store location nearest my home. This happens to alot of people all the time where stores do not honor their warranties and try to bulley the consumer around trying to make them decide to give up and bite the bullet or sweep it under the rug simply because most people do not know their rights. Theres a saying that goes if you do not know your rights, you dont have any. Take it from me you writing a letter is just going to go in the same pile with everyone elses at least with Pre-Paid Legal the playing field is leveled. Justice for all

Assurant Solutions terrible customer service

Assurant solutions is a joke. I've had my computer fixed 3 times for the same problem. Everytime they say that they are replacing the mother board but it comes back to me working and breaks again within a few months. One of the times I was without it for 2 weeks and it came back still not working and it turns out it was just the charging cord which didn't even require that I go without my computer for 2 weeks. This last time they said they would replace it but i'm losing the remainder of my warranty and getting a refurbished computer. I asked for a check instead because I wanted to be able to buy a warranty. This was all on october 27th. They said the check was mailed the 6th of november so I went out and bought the new computer expecting a check within a few days. Thank god I didn't buy the warranty this time because it is still through assurant solutions. I've now been waiting over a month and when I call they give me the run around. Now they are going to do a stop payment which takes 2 weeks then i'll have to wait 10-14 business days for the new check. I get letters from my sister in iraq in less time than that! How they can expect people to believe that it actually takes 10-14 business day for a letter to be received is crazy. And they should realize that if it is mailed, it has nothing to do with business days because mail comes every day except sunday and holidays. Terrible terrible customer service. I've filed a report with the bbb, waiting to see if that does anything.

Assurant Solutions scam alert

What a joke this company is. Buyer beware, don't waste you money here. This company is the biggest rip off corporation I have yet to see. They will gladly sell you a warranty. However they continually refuse to cover anything. What a brilliant scam they have going. Have had thier warranty on a vehicle I purchased 1 year ago. On three seperate occasions I filed a claim. Each and every time they found some way of not covering the repairs. Ill tell you they prosicute individuals for stealing your money. This company should definatly be looked into. They do not offer a serivce thier only goal is to rip off honest consumers.

Assurant Solutions inferior service

We purchased a toshiba satellite p105 s6114 laptop about 3 years ago with a 4 year extended warranty covered by assurance solutions. As far as I can remember the cord broke around one time per year, with an exception of the third year. The cord sparked the third time and I had it replaced, and it shocked three times after that, then I gave up. They said that they would not replace the computer because of only cord problems. After that, I experienced some software problems and they said that if I wanted that fixed I would have to pay for the discs to repair it. Assurance solutions has a long history of bad technical and customer support. I told them that the cord shocked me three times and they just said "I am very sorry about that sir but we still won't replace it." the following are some links to random stories on /link removed/

I feel that assurance solutions is just a terrible company and people need to know how terrible their service is. I've heard of them breaking peoples computers, refusing to repair them, and if you do a do a google search of "city assure complaints" which is one of the services that they provide, which has covered circuit city for over three years and still covered their warranty ever since they closed you get 4, 190, 000 complaints.

I have had the exact same problem, I have sent back in my Toshiba four different times to receive the same broken computer back. They refuse to replace the computer, I just want it fixed! I bought from Circuit City before going out of business and the four year warranty transferred to Assurance Solutions. I call them and do not get any answers, no manager is ever around, and nothing ever gets done after requesting further assistance rather than just sending it in for a 5th time!

My repair has been denied due to a minor piece of plastic broken that is nowhere remotely NEAR any part of the motherboard. RadiosShack (since this is who i have to send the computer out with) denied the repair work due to this "physical damage", I am sorry to hear you are having trouble, suprisingly they've been very helpful with the matter.

Ask to speak to a supervisor or try to contact the manufacturer directly regarding the matter

Keep fighting.
