I went to Aspen Dental looking for an extra set of upper dentures. The main reason why I went there. The dentist told me that on my lower teeth I would need 2 teeth pulled. All of a sudden they were just doing work on my lower teeth. I did not mind the Dental Hygienist doing her job, however she could not do the complete procedure & recommended I go to a Periodontist. I went to the Periodontist who then told me I do not need those teeth extracted that he can perform gum surgery on it. What upsets me the most I applied for the CareCredit and was approved, BUT Aspen Dental submitted charges to the CareCredit for services that were not rendered. For instance the extractions. They also knew of my appointment & at the request of the Periodontist asked for the xrays to be sent to him so I would not have to be xrayed again. Aspen Dental had never sent those xrays to the Periodontist, so needless to say I had to get more xrays done on the teeth they were going to extract.

1. They charge CareCredit in advance for work before it is done. In other words they charge for services not rendered.
a) pay for an electric toothbrush by just giving it to you as part of the visit & not asking if you would like to purchase the item. $125.00 for that. I have an electric toothbrush I am very happy with. So this company sells a bunch of goods without consent of the patient (me).
b) An extraction $229.00.
c) Incomplete work from the Dental Hygenist because she told she couldn't do the deep cleaning because of my gum infection & recommended the Periodontist. Hygenist charges were $376.00 which should be less because she could not complete & suggested I see a periodontist.
2. They didn't send the xrays to the periodontists, therefore made me have to go for more unnecessary treatment.
3. Kept me in a dental chair for over an hour without acknowledgment.

I was not happy with the way I was treated as a human being. Aspen Dental seemed more corporate instead of a dental health facility. It seems to me it is a money making scam to charge for services before the services were even done.

I am working on to get credit from Aspen to the CareCredit for only services rendered & not to pay for the toothbrush that I did not ask for, especially I have an electric toothbrush that I am happy with.

They are very misleading. BUYER BEWARE!!! CONSUMER BEWARE!!!

Thank you,
Rita.

Aspen Dental was created for one thing only. To make money! The greedy conspirators who created this company will eventually see their day in man's court or God's court. They do work not needed, ie. fillings and pulling good teeth ect.which is horrible malpractice by any stretch. That is such a betrayal of their profession to help and heal people with pain . They have caused so many people so much pain and problems it would only be right to see them closed down for good. I am still suffering a year after my experience with Aspen.

I agree with all the above comments, I've had a problem with Aspen Dentist from the beginning. They bill the finance company before the actually work began. I went in for my gums and was told to have seven teeth pull and a complete upper plate and a partial lower. I've complained over, and over again about their service and the amount they charged me and was told nothing they could do about it. My husband was very aggravated and refused to go back with them for the crazy amount they were about to charge him for his bridge to be adjusted. I've made disputes with my insurance, and to no avail. They lie, lie and continue to lie. What a mess. I stopped going and I have an upper plate in water looking at me and I didn't go back for the extractions, good thing my pressure was high. God's will it happened this way. Mattie's dispute from the Stratford office in Connecticut.

I went to Dr Weile in Spokane, WA in April of 2008, he did some work on my teeth over a 3 week period, at the end of April, he said all was done. I was sure surprised.

I went there with a complaint of pain in to upper teeth, one on each side. The left side seems OK, but the right side upper tooth was still painful. He took a "look" at it didn't even use a mirror to look at it closely, said, "Nothing wrong with that tooth, I told you to use that toothpaste for sensitive teeth." Well, I did and still do use it.

OK, I went back to see him on Oct 8th of 2008, the tooth is reallystarting to hurt again, he charged me $25.oo for a "mini exam" and told me "nothing is wrong" again. Well a few weeks later I had a full-blown abcess around that tooth, my Nurse Practioner ordered antibiotis for me, and it cleared up and the pain went away, now it's back again, because the dentist still disagrees with me.

OK, I need to see an oral surgeon to have this tooth removed now, thank to Dr. Weile DDS, and I will NEVER recommend him to even a person with a dog with bad teeth!! He seems to think his time is more important than his patients, and therefore, he can rot in a hot place!!
What a jerkl he is!!

Well, I'm back and want to say that FINALLY, I got results with my complaints against them, but only after I called my State's Attorney General's office, the BBB, and informed them that after I contacted my Attorney General a news station contacted me. I am happy to inform that they are reimbursing my insurance company and me. I will receive a full refund. It's just too bad it took so long, because it has still been the most frustrating experience...I'm sure that the special they did on a local TV company helped my case also. A poor woman who did business with them ended up with TMJ from ill fitting dentures and then came to find out that the office she was going to has thier permanent dentures made in a "central lab" in China, and to make matters worse, they have lead in them...sure they are not the only "clinic" that has their work done there...A friend of mine used to make dentures not so long ago and he infromed me that the ACTUAL cost of making them then was about $30. What a ripoff! Dental work is soooo out of reach for the average American, it is very sad...Anyone having a problem with their local Aspen should go on line and contact corporate themselves at aspendent.com, you would probably get better results with them than some of the "bimbo's" that run these offices. The office manager I spoke with tried to tell me that the cost of the "temporay" denture that I had that were horrible was almost $2, 000 and that is why my insurance co did not get reimbursed!!!Will still never get compensated for the hassel, both with running around, back and forth, and the embarrassment of having ill fitting teeth for all that time while trying to get something done...

I too am a very dissatisfied patient ("customer") of Aspen Dental. Have been going thru heck with these people for almost a year. Too many problems to list here, still haven't gotten the money back I deserve, and they are refusing at this point to reimburse my insurance co. and I never accepted their crummy ill fitting dentures or partials. Still have their crummy ill fitting "temporary" teeth, only because I cannot afford to go elsewhere until I get my problems resolved with my insurance co. They are theives who only care about the "bottom line" like most corporations. PLEASE if you are having problems with them, do what I have done and contact your state's Attorney General. Let them know what a scam this place is and then maybe someone will do something about them! I live in Ohio and would like very much to take them to court, but cannot afford an attorney right now. Anyone know about a class action suit going on? I would certainly join in!!!

I have a really long and bad experience with Aspen Dental, but kind of felt not alone anymore... why ?? because basically the scam, the high-pressure sales, the waiting, the extra appointment, the extra work, the insurance not covering... it all happened to me, and the sad thing was, I am sstill with Aspen Dental, only because it is close to home and not much good dentist taking new customer. what a sad sad story.

I can tell you from first hand experience WORKING for Aspen, the company is horrible. Not only to their patients but also their employees. They would send me to different offices to work for weeks at a time and never pay for a hotel for me to stay in. I was driving up to 6 hours a day back and forth when they would do this. Everyone is all in it for themselves. The Care Credit is a scam they tell you it's better if you charge it all at once but it is just as easy once the work you choose to have done is done to have all the charges combined to keep it at the promotional interest rate.
They are over priced and the work is horrible. I have a molar that after i left there i had to have my old dentist ext because the DR in the Scranton, PA office screwed it up when he wanted to put all white fillings. I will never ever go there or even associate with the people that work there.
I am truely sorry for all who have been ripped off by this money grubbing coropration.

I went to Aspen Dental with a cavity and part of the tooth chipped off. They told me I would have to have a root canal. Since I was going to take care of my Dad who had had a stroke the next week, I didn't want to find I was in pain suddenly - though I wasn't at the time - so I went ahead.

They insisted on a full mouth of xrays and cleaning, saying there was no cost... They got me credit card saying that it would be interested free and I wouldn't have to pay for two months, then I got the bill the next week with 21 or more percent interest.

After the first part of the root canal, I discovered that I couldn't afford the large payments (on the full proposed treatment) for a couple of months, so asked to delay the rest. The temporary filling fell out and I asked if they could put another temp in. They sent my my money back to Chase, for the balance of procedure. I told them I'd wait about 2 months and finish it. When I got there for the temp filling they wanted $100 for a filling that would last 2 WEEKS! And told me I could never get financing again. THe balance of my bill is $800! And I never got advise, like they could do the post and stabilize the tooth and then wait for the crown. The girls laughed at me as I walked out of the office.

I remember the day when the dentist took pride in their work and wanted to make sure the patient didn't get infected or loose a tooth or anything. These people don't care. It's all about money - and they don't train their staff to give advice either or tell the truth! They are getting a big complaint from me... and I'm waiting for an itemized bill which I never got. Seems a few years ago I had a complete root canal and post for $400... The cap I got later. I would never go back to them.

Also when the dentist had a HUGE needle, he came at me saying - "Open your mouth, Mam, Open your mouth'. I felt treated like a THING, not a person.

Well, I just returned from Aspen Dental where it was decided the will give me my money back-wonder how much I will see, based on their previous service. This has been the absolte worst experience I have ever had as a consumer...Not sure what my recourse is--This nightmare has been going on since last December, and still did not get proper fitting dentures or partials, now I fear there is something going on with the shape of my mouth, jaw and face. Isn't there anything that can be done about these "clinics" that heard people in and out like cattle, they are a corporation and more concerned with the "bottom dollar" than my or anyone elses dental health. I live in the Mansfield area and will continue to expose them for the lousy service and dental care they give if they don't refund my money in full, I will be sounding off in public ways like they have never seen. I work hard for my money and I am fairly certain that my insurance will not pay for more work to be done elsewhere. Whatever you do, do not let Aspen
Dental even try to put a smile back on your face, that is the worst form of fake advertizing I have ever seen! A TOTAL RIPOFF!!! If anyone reading this knows where I can get legal help to resolve this matter I would be most grateful...

By the way, the aspen dental I went to is in Mansfield, Ohio...Byers beware, they make your temporary teeth t right there in their own lab, but send out for your "permanent teeth"--if you can stand them---to a central lab where your teeth are manufactured in mass quantity!

Aspen Dental certainly did not put a smile back on my face. My whole experience with them has been a nightmare! I went to them because they were in my insurance plan...First of all the dentist who pulled two of my bottom teeth did not even numb me properly and I felt the entire pain of one of the extractions! Then the teeth beside where the extractions took place turned grey...Dead roots now! My temporary teeth fit perfect, so I decided the pain and discolored teeth were a small price to pay for my new teeth. (Upper dentals, and bottom partials...) From the moment I went for the "finsh"--permanent teeth, it has been nothing but a nightmare! I now have in my possession--3 sets of uppers---none of which fit properly-and the partials are horrible (permanent ones). All of this started last Dec. when I went there for what I thought would be quality work according to their ads...I have not paid on the bottom partials since the work has been so poor...yet care credit has now turned me into collections! HELP! I need a good lawyer, or advise on what to do to get my problem with them resolved...can anyone spell class action law suit? What is the working class to do to get good, quality dental care???

I feel validated - thank you everyone. Orange, CT office (Feb/March 2008)

I switched to Cigna because most of the dental is covered and no co-pays, and had a great dentist under Cigna - who passed away. Went to Aspen because they are one of the ones listed for Cigna as most other dentist were not taking new patients.

So, made an appt for my hubby and I go to to Aspen. My husband who finally went to a dentist the year before I switched plans - we knew needed one of those deep quadrant cleanings. Prior he hadn't had a cleaning in over 10 years (I know, gross, but he was married to a hygenist and is afraid of the dentist and their evils - which are well documented in the cases of bad drillings and fillings by others in the Aspen reviews - he must had one of those in a previous life!). So, when he went in and they said he needed the whole gamit I was prepared, but not for the cost of about $1200.

I went in next and after having been rescheduled... then next appt waited an hour in the waiting room, finally got in to see the dentist/hygenist. Do not like how open the rooms are - really correct, no privacy. I got X-rays and waited and was already agitated. The dentist tried to sell me something (he was old and seemed a bit absentminded) and I was like - they are trying to scam me already... this is bad. Then no, no, no'd him on all the items and then was moved to the hygenist.
Sat in the hygenist chair and... (I go to the dentist 2x a year for cleanings, floss and use the pick things and everytime they said my teeth are great, I am doing a great job - and had just gone 3 months ago to my previous dentist (Dec 07)). The hygenist said they couldn't do a regular cleaning because I needed the deep cleaning (same as my husband) and wanted me to go to the special financing room. I said - are you kidding me? besides feeling like "has my hygiene been that bad in 3 months"? but right then and there knew it was a scam for sure.

I wrote to my company (IBM) to notify them that the provider they are allowing provide service is not reputable - but they didn't have any recourse. I realize now I need to write to Cigna and let them know. Thanks for listening.

My husband went to Aspen Dental in Nashua, NH and they were rude and inconsiderate. He went in for a cleaning and they told him that they couldn't do it because he had to have a deep cleaning. They ushered him into the credit office, told him that his insurance Met Life Dental wouldn't cover anything (THIS WAS A LIE!) and talked him into signing a care credit loan for $1828.00 for a deep cleaning, toothbrush and rinse.
My husband called Met Life Dental a few days later and they said they would cover some of the cost. The reason they don't want you to use your insurance is because they have to accept the contract price. My husband did go for the cleaning on two seperate occasions. Aspen did 4 arestin treatments per tooth and under our insurance contract they can only charge for one per tooth. They also did other treatments that under our insurance contract they cannot charge us for. After fighting with Aspen for 5 months and filing a claim with the grievance board at Met Life Dental, Aspen had to refund Care Credit $1360.00. We only owe $468.00. They are crooks and will take all the money from you that they can get. I called everyone at the Aspen main headquarters that I could and they were all rude and kept telling me that I didn't owe them anything I owed Care Credit the money. They are the ones that tell Care Credit what to bill us. They are idiots. If you have insurance make sure that you don't pay them for anything you shouldn't. Call your insurance company and find out exactly what you have to pay them. We will never go to these losers again.

Karolyn, Start looking for lawyer now . You have a good case. I went through the Attorney Generals Office and got my money back, but you will have a good case if you start now. I would not even bother calling their office. They might try to bribe you into not taking them to court...

First off, to let you know, I am a dentist. The remarks posted by the other dentist happen to be true about quality and getting what you pay for.

Most people want a long-term relationship with their physicians and dentists. You can't get that at Aspen because of the revolving door nature of the dentists and hygienists they hire. And, the non-dental staff are also poorly trained and probably not employable elsewhere. Also, anyone off the street can work as a dental assistant as the work is usually learned as on-the job training, although a well-trained assistant is a godsend in any practice.

The problem with operations like Aspen Dental is quite common in all these types of practices. Someone picked a beautiful, refreshing name and started an advertising blitz promoting low cost dentures at such a friendly establishment. However, these "clinics" are set up as a classic bait and switch operation. They also hire either newly graduated or foreign dentists who cannot afford their own practices yet, or dentists who cannot get a job anywhere else due to clinical or social incompetence.

I would think that word of mouth would sink the Aspen dental ship, but if you look around, they are opening new offices all the time. So they are raking in the dough.

Buyer beware.

I went to Aspen Dental reluctantly because I had a wisdom tooth growing in and was infected. I haven't gone to a dentist in a very long time because I'm terrified of them, so I don't really know much about them. When I first went there I had a check-up and they said that I also needed fillings, deep cleanings, as well as all four wisdom teeth extracted. I went there again for the consultation and I was told that I can put the total of all the stuff I needed done on a care credit card, and the total was $4, 000. I was overwhelmed and she said it was best to use this form of payment, it was almost like she was saying that was the only form of payment that I could do. As soon as I signed up I realized that I made a mistake. I was so confused as to why they would make me pay for something that I haven't even had done yet! I cancelled the oral surgery, and the receptionist told me that it was taken off my account. I got a call from care credit saying that my payment was late (by 3 days) and told me the remaining balance. Aspen did not take the oral surgery charge off my account. So I called Aspen and told the receptionist that I wanted the charge off the account since the appt was cancelled and she supposedly did. I was so upset about the whole credit card and prepaying appointments that I called them back and said I wanted to cancel my appointments coming up in July. The receptionist told me "I'll call you back." After half an hour I called them back and a different receptionist said "I'm busy with a patient, I'll call you back" and another 20 minutes went by. I called back a THIRD time and finally said "I need to cancel my appointments!!" and then she reluctantly, finally cancelled them and said "we'll refund all the money onto the account" I hope I won't ever have to deal with that again.

A few years ago I went to Aspen dental in Tonawanda, NY . From the start I did not feel comfortable with the dentist, and assistants. I was told I needed upper dentures. So I canceled a few appointments, because I wasn't looking forward to the work that had to be done-13 teeth extracted!! Before I knew it my wages were being garnished! So recently I inquired about the dentures that were suppose to have made, and they actually showed them to me. Guess what? THEY DON'T HAVE THEM! My point I think is obvious...why were my wages garnished? Why was 1400.00 taken from my hard earned paychecks? I think I see A law suit in my future against them.
To sum this up I would not deal with this business. If anyone is thinking of going to them DON'T!! There shady, rotten, no good, and I going to get my money back!

Elation quickly turned into disgust. Need class action lawsuit ASAP! Was charged over $8, 800.00 for the best of immed. and perm. dentures for hubby and myself. I had all the torii and bone spurs removed by oral surgeon. After all was healed the temp. never fit. First pt. on opening day, bought the best, charged for the best, hubby got the cheap imm. I was fitted by the hygeniest and then given the teeth in a bag. They never went in because they didn't fit. He (the dentist) was never sure why I was there, which teeth were coming out and at one point I was told by him that they would just make another set. Which never happened. Filled teeth that do not match. After they were aware of the date of the extractions weeks in advance they waitef until the last week to which I was in there office eight times in one week and come Thursday they did not have enough of the stuff needed to make the immed. Was told by the office manager that she would go to the other office to get more. Next morning we arrived as schd. and she had not even left yet. My surgery was that Monday! We waited for the teeth to be made. When I cried and said I looked like Buckie beaver, the DDS said they would make another pair. When I went in to be refitted he said "I hear you want another set" I didn't HE DID! In front of the hyg. My daughters wedding is July 19th and I have an immed. set that sits in the bowl that you can put a pen under the front partial that won't set down and the tops stick out so much and fall down. Went in and comp. and they put the pink layered stuff in once. Comp. more and was told it was the swelling to wait. Waited then they said because of the time that they would not fix then (the temps) but would make the perm. Why would I pay for the imm. that are supposed to get you used to wearing dentures. Called the phone number in the brochure and c/o and was told "those aren't for eating, just appearances and talking" so many overcharges and paying the Care Credit charge every month for work not done and teeth not made. Would apprec. anymore who has the corporate office number to email me. Haven't stopped crying esp. when it was time for Mother's Day dinner and I wouldn"t go out. I would rather have rotten teeth then no teeth. Anyone want to talk feel free.
