Applebee's awful service from bartender

Typically, I enjoy spending the evening at Applebees. The food is usually good, and the prices reasonable. Tonight, however, I must say I am strongly disappointed in the quality of service by one employee in particular at the Hackensack, NJ restaurant. The heavy-set bartender seemed quite ornery to begin with. I assumed she'd had a long day and proceeded to be polite with her.

The night went south from there. Being from Ohio, I had an out-of-state driver license. This bartender woman took one look at my ID and told me "if this is fake, I will have to confiscate it and call the police". Keep in mind, I am thirty-two years old, and I certainly don't look like a teenage kid with a fake ID. I told her she was welcome to call the authorities and double check, but she continued being rude, saying that the holograms looked off. This woman was not being polite at all; if she was really that put-off by my license, she could've double checked with another waitress.

Finally, I asked the woman to scan the ID, and of course information popped up.
While I understand there are rules bartenders must abide by, I did not appreciate being treated like a juvenile delinquent.

Applebees, please get rid of this woman.

Applebee's overcharging

My husband & I ate at our locale applebee's last saturday 5/30/09 — our bill was $26.# and we paid with our debit card. Later that day when we got home I went online to balance our checkbook — I discovered that applebee's had taken the $26.# out and $54.# out of our account. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager — he explained that the waiter had made a mistake and that they had voided it out — well she could have told us that before we left the restaurant and given us the void slip. The kicker is it is a week later and it still has not been released back into my account. The bank says that until they get the void it has to be held. So be careful using your debit card any where but make sure you check the bank if you use it at applebee's.

I know this is several years later since this post, but obviously Applebee's pattern of cheating customers is still going on. I ordered food on 9-16-18, and my bill was $32.86 and I added a tip of $3.00 which should have been $35.86. when I checked my credit card the next day, they took $39.43, a difference of $3.57. I called the restaurant the next day, and was told the manager was not in but I would get a call back 2 days later. 2 days later, no call back. I just checked my credit card again, and now all of a sudden the charges are what they should be. Called the restaurant again and was told all of their records matched what I should have been charged. They could not explain how the original deduction was different, and of course "the manager is not in but will call you back tomorrow". There is obviously something wrong with this company, especially if the same deception "computer errors" is still going on 9 years later. This is a scam by the company banking on maybe 7 or 8 out of 10 people won't notice? A nice chunk of change in their pockets for sure.

Applebee's - unfairly treated employee

My complaint is how applebee's pick favorites!!! There are certain employees that can get 57 hours in a pay period and others who they won't allow 4 hours on the job in one day!!! How is that possible???!!! The one not allowed to work 4 hours has bills and a family just like everyone else! How can another person get 57 hours??!! My next complaint is: why...

Applebee's poor management

My family and I went to applebees in orem utah. The meal was fine and the services was fine. When the meal was ready to be paid for, the manager (Sullivan picard) came to the table and told me I needed to pay another way. He was holding my debit card in his hand. I asked him if my card was declined and he told me I was not "privy" to that information. I told him I most certainly was because it was my card. He would not offer any explanation. I asked over and over what the problem was and he would not tell me. I then reached out to get my card and he jumped back and yelled and caused a scene. I told him he needed to give me my card or I will call the police. So I called the police and they came. They got me my card back and the card was not declined. I think sullivan was trying to steal from me or at best use his authority at applebees to be an a$hole. After multiple complaints to applebees for his conduct.. I was told it was a simple misunderstanding and mr picard is sorry... I am not pressing civil charges against him and applebees. Applebees offered me a coupon for a free dinner, but I will never return. Watch out for sullivan picard. He is a con artist at best!

Being a con artist will only cause people to never go back there. Businesses who think they can thrive off of crookedness and corruption are fools.

Personally, I will never go back to "CRAPPLEBEE"S: because they don't give you much food for your money(well at least here in canada anyways).

Applebee's worst food ever

Today my family and I oredered carside to go. We then sat down to eat only to be disgusted by the cold under cooked dry no flavor applebees food. We spent 80.00 dollars for this under quality meal. I will never. I mean never eat there again. My family all agrees and we plan to spread the word! So sad that they just opened another location 4 miles away what a waste of land, they should have put a chilis there!

The fact of the matter is corporate restaurants like Applebees are purely about cheap food and long hours. They feel that by staying open later and offering food at lower prices will make up for their lack of quality. These are the same restaurants that ship in their food pre-made and frozen and tell their servers to emphasize turning tables rather then good service and customer indulgence. However, they hurt their business by offering low quality food and sub-par service while hurting their employees by not training them to provide quality service that will improve their sales and their tip precentage. If quality is what you want, I suggest you go out to eat less often and go to a restaurant where the menu prices might not be as cheap, but where quailty food and service are available. Chili's is a good place for more frequent eating, and outback provides excellent service for a casual setting, and now they're more affordable. In short, find a restaurant that does most of their prepwork in house. You'll find fresher ingredients, better quality food, and a management and service staff that knows how to run a restaurant.

BTW, we all know Jason is a loser but you are no better. I also stand correct, Louis did post on this board. Zachary did not. Incase you did not notice the people you are harassing they ignored you yet you still spread lies about them. Why isn't shoelady monitoring what you post?

Tracy, Tracy, Tracy, my friend. You are so narrow minded. You think that everyone that disagrees with you is one person. This way your low self esteem is not affected so much because you think only one person is against you. Well, we all all seperate people. Most adults know how to type a professional letter. Now maybe if you went to see psychologist you would not think that everyone is after you. You are the fool. In one post you say that you have EVERYONE's email address, home location, parents names, ect, ect and in another you say that everyone is the same person. Well my friend you are wrong. Your "mother" is wrong. You expect us to believe that everyone is lying but you. Exactely how low is your self esteem that you have to make yourself believe this. Also when asked for proof claim the letter does not exict. The letter in question was written by you. You asked the letter deleted to get rid of the proof that it was you in the wrong. Everyone here knows this. So stop these little games will you. Also some reading lessons will be good for you because neither Louis nor Zachary posted on this thread. You must have very low self esteem to pick on a ten year old and spread lies about him.

Louis/zachary

I am shoelady's daughter. You need a bath and a mouth washed out with soap for the lies you tell.

He did cite obscenities about me and her on a thread and you can't read anyway, so why are you even here? Didn't we tell you to get lost?

You said most adults don't type in caps? I beg to differ, because most do type in caps when they're angry and this person sounds angry. If you had half the knowledge my mom and I do, you'd be getting better grades in school and not getting left back.

Jason quit high school. We all know he can't spell or form original ideas. He is a loser. Don't follow his example.

Jason,

This person is an adult. I know because a child would not word a letter that way. You think everyone is a child, me and Tracy, etc. You are the only child I see here today. What are you doing for summer vacation? Didn't you get a job? Try Sonic! LOL I hear you can make a lot of little tips there if you don't return the change! LOL!

UGH!

Shut up Troll Jason, take a hike. When you turn 18 you can talk to adults, until then, go away with the underage juvies on this site. Go join facebook or something where people can relate to you. Man you are one f'g annoying gnat!

You're right Applebees sucks in most southern states. They hire people like jason to cook the food poorly.. 17 year old flunkies.

If you're going to splurge on $80 dinners, at least go to Longhorns. They have better food. Ruby Tuesday is no better than Applebees. We quit going there a while back. They're really getting coolie labor in these places. Most are illegals, so don't forget that.

Applebee's racist display

Why is it that Applebees completely overlooked the placement of a "wooden indian" inside its entrance at this location? If it was a statue of a "black" jockey or such, it would smack of racism.
I wonder if they ordered up 100's of these for all their Applebees? Amazing, we have Obama in office, yet the Native American is totally ignored. Shame, shame, shame.

I believe what you are referring to is a 'totem pole'.
So every single cultural item on display is secretly a racial slur?
Therefore all Asian, Mexican, Italian and other cultural decorations should be torn down and replaced with..say the American Flag.

It's not a statue of an Indian man trading his land for a piece of lint.
Stop looking for something to piss about.

CommonSense,

You better watch out. Man running horse is going to do a rain dance and flood you out of your house. While you're trying to escape the rising waters, he will gallop by and scalp you.

You don't want that, do you?

You should take some time to make it up the native americans. Perhaps you can just visit a casino.

Applebee's bloody steak!

Went to Applebee's on Valentine's day 2009; and the evening started out well. We only had to wait a few minutes to be seated and the server was prompt in coming to our table. My husband and I ordered an appetizer which was also delivered promptly so all was going rather well up to receiving our entrees...which was steak. My husband's came cooked nicely as ordered, medium. Mine on the other hand was "bleeding" when I cut into it besides the fact that it looked like it had been sitting on the plate for quite a while. I called our server to the table and she took the steak back to be "replated and cooked". By the time it was returned to our table my husband was more than 1/2 done with his food, (I'd told him go ahead and eat so his food wouldn't get cold) and I cut into this steak to find it was BLOODY just like the last one! By this time I was sick at my stomach, mostly due to aggravation, and ready to get out of this pitiful excuse for a restaurant. I told her I didn't want to return my food for a third "round" of cooking, just forget it! She came back later and asked if we wanted to order dessert! LOL After being told "no not if it was like their steaks", we got our check, paid, and left. They took the steak off the bill, but added back the two sides I didn't eat. I sent a complaint to their feedback email address but don't expect to get a reply. Oh, yes, just an added FYI, the manager never once came to our table as is usual in most restaurants. Needless to say we won't be going there again and more than likely won't go to another Applebees.

I went to a Applebee's today for lunch and ordered a steak dinner med rare and it came out well done, then whe they took it back and brought me another one it was completely rare cold in the middle. The third time they brought it out to me it seemed to be cooked to temp. But it was rubbery and did not taste like a steak, the texture was all wrong. It kind of tasted like togu. I don't know what Applebee's thinks they are serving to there customers but it is not steak. I think that someone should investigate the Quality of meat that they are serving. $12.99 for a rubbery piece of tofu is not ok with me.

Applebee's service

I'm going to make a long story short that happened on 02-14-09. Ordered 2 steak dinners, 1st time they came out sides were wrong. 2nd time they came out steaks and sides were wrong. The 3rd time they came out, sides were still wrong and the server brouht out same steaks for the third time. You can guess by the 4th time I was not a very unhappy camper, so when our order finally arrived
for the 4th time the manager came to our table, said he was sorry and would see us before we were through eating{ha ha}.Finally after an hour long ordeal, we could eat our supper with fresh steaks. WRONG our steaks and sides were wrong so we switched steaks with each other. No, we never saw the manager again and will not go back there or any Applebees.WE should have gone to Outback Steak House like we had planned and wait for a table.

Applebee's terrible place

No need to go all the way to Africa be one of the contestants on the next 'Survivor' - to be tortured and treated with disdain! There is a much easier solution!

You can go to the Applebees Restaurant on Sam Rittenburg Blvd. in Charleston, SC. There the staff will prepare a wonderful adventure for you by spilling a mess on the carpeting - so it will blend in with its surroundings and you won't suspect a thing - until you step down onto the step and slip right off the end into the pool of ick at the bottom. (And the waitress will say 'You have to get up! You are in the way!')

Yes, you too can break your foot and spend a month in a cast while you try to master the skill of caring for your three children and work your full time job! You can grow from the challenges of being treated like nothing by their staff and ignored by their management. You can live with a foot that just isn't the same for the rest of your life - and buy all new shoes because the old ones no longer fit. And at the end of the adventure - they are gonna vote you off so you walk away with practically nothing.

Don't worry, they are going to admit right away that it was their fault - they knew about the hazard...they will agree to pay your medical bills and your attorney and give you a little pocket money so you can eat in their restaurant again - but truly negotiate for what you will receive for your physical, emotional, and social losses - oh, no! Now their insurance company says that the insurance company would negotiate - but Applebees has instructed them not to...They wouldn't want to insult you like that! Better to let you sue so that you can also enjoy the education that comes from an intimate involvement with the American Judicial system - which may take 3 years to settle. OR - you can agree to accept the scraps they throw your way - because after all, you do have those medical bills waiting to be paid...

Oh, and don't bother to contact the corporate office - they don't deal with these complaints - they just refer them back to the franchise - which is where you had all of the fun in the first place! Or at least that's what Dennis told me when I called there...and the letters I sent them - well...just an exercise in writing, I guess.

Boy, Applebees sure has made MY life fun! So next time you want to eat out...think CHILIS or SHONEYS or ANYTHING but APPLEBEES!

Applebee's service

Husband took me there for lunch on a wedding anniversary date. Waited 20 min. to have anyone come around to take an order. Waintress said "sorry guys for the wait" without even looking at us. She wrote the order wrong. Husband was brought something he didn't order, even though I heard him tell her exactly what he wanted, and he had even pointed to it on the menu. My meal was cold by the time his order came, which was still not what he ordered, but we just let it go, since we were hungry and tired of waiting. Waitress again just said "sorry guys" without looking at us. She brought bill with wrong order and amount and took a long time fixing it. Again, "sorry guys" without looking at us or any inflection in her voice of actually meaning it. We will not go there again.

After church on 20 July 2008, my wife and I stopped at Applebees on the way home as we usually do and went inside where there were about five people ahead of us all in one family. The servers were all over the place and I began to think we were invisable. One of the servers picked up about 5 menus and silverware for 5 and took off. He didn't tell the people to follow me or anything else. We stayed about 5 more minutes and said to heck with that and went up the street to OCharles where we were promtly seated and food on the table in just a few minutes. We have gone to Applebees many time but not more. I do not like being treated that way by anyone.

Wow, give them a break. It sounds like they were especially busy. If you are not going back to them because of this one MINOR bad experience, that is pretty petty on your part. You only waited for 5 minutes. Wow, I just have to say wow. If you are upset about something like this...sorry the world isn't perfect for you and your wife. Maybe you should have gone back to church and have another sermon by the preacher of how to think of others before yourselves.

Applebee's false advertising

After eating at the Applebees on Southland Mall numerous times. My wife and I noticed an add on TV regarding 2 meals for $20.00. We checked on their website and saw the add posted their too. We choose our meals and placed the call for pick. The person that answered the phone told us they were no longer offering this deal. My wife told them that they should remove it from their website, and since we were hungry we ordered something else that came out to almost $40.00 for 2. We let it slide until again the next day we saw the same add on TV. I don't understand how this can be done. Is their something that can be done to stop these people from scamming the public? We will never eat at Applebees again, and I hope this helps others in choosing a better restaurant.

I also saw this add on tv, verified that the santa clarita applebees had it on their website, two -three hours later went in and was told that they would not honor the addvertised special, 2/$20.I with my girlfriend and small child spent with tip about $45.I contacted applebees and a manager contacted me, gave me no explanation for this but offered me a $25 certificate .I have not received it as of today.I sent another e mail to applebees yesterday 1/6/09, and am waiting for a responce.I think it's clear that they had never intended to honor a natioinbally advertised special, it appears that they just wanted to get peoiple into the restaurant, as the server mentioned that several other people had complained about the inability of management to honor this special.

Applebee's bad food

I just returned home from dining at our local Applebee's. First I do not want any credit or gift certificate. I am contacting you only to make you aware that one of your stores is not measering up in the quality of food I have come to expect from Applebee's.
I purchaed a Burbon Street steak at the Jacksonville, Illinois Applebee's and it was without a doubt the worst piece of meat I have ever eaten. I did not complain at the time because the waitress was excellent and i knew she could do nothing about the extremelt poor quality of meat purchased at this restaurant. I am only contacting you because someone has invested in this establishment and needs to know there is a big problem at this location. I will not go back to this Applebee's!

I work at an applebees and have been forced to work while having the h1n1 flu virus, was written up for calling in when I had laryngitis, tonsillitis, and strep throat at the same time, and was also written up after calling in due to an injury that I got WHILE I was WORKING. All times I called with advanced notice. All times I was written up. All times not a single member of management tried to replace my shift, yet lectured me about the inconvenience of being short staffed. For Applebees, priority number one is making a dollar, and employee and food safety fall much farther down on the list. That is if they even care at all.

I can say from being a recent employee of Applebees they also force their servers to either work while they are sick which is against board of health rules or fire them I have currently filed an unemployment claim against Applebees after being fired for taking time off with strept throat. I showed up to work and was forced to work a 13 hour shift on a Monday and by the following day when I was due back in at 10 I was not able to make it. I called in and immediately followed up with my doctors the next morning at 8 am I took my doctors note into work by 9am and was fired since they were already running short handed and just could not afford to cover that many shifts. I had been told before by the same management that if I did not come into work I had to provide a doctors note but that if I showed up running a fever they would not ask any questions. The over all concern here is that they cover the floor weather it is with people who should be working or not so long as questions are not asked. They also provide no type of medical benefits but demand documentation if your sick at all. My problem is even after providing such documentation I was still fired. This was at a Indianapolis Indiana North Side location

Applebee's everyone

Stay away from this place! I've been to quite a few applebees and this is by far the worse. The waitresses are slow and rude. The management could care less and the food was cold. If I am going to pay for something I expect it to be worth it. All my Applebees experiences haven't been the greatest but this by far takes the cake. I wouldn't even keep going back if i wasn't such a sucker for the Fiesta Chicken.
I think from now on I will try their TOGO service but I won't hold my breath. The worst part is the Mgr..(I can't remember if it was a male or a female with short blondish hair) was just as bad and didn't care about the employees goofing ofFRIENDS BEWARE! just ones opinion

Applebee's profanity used by employees

While having lunch at Applebees my wife and i had to listen to an young gentleman using profanity. The words this man used in front of paying customers was very distastefull and embarasing for most that where subject to this.this young man ruined our lunch with his actions. He was yelling at employee .I did not know such language was allowed to be used to repramand an an employee.I feel someone should have a discussion with this young man about his choice of words and how to act in a profesoinal manner. I will never go into that resteraunt again.

Applebee's waitress

The hostess opened the door for us and we got seated quickly. It was a warm welcome and everything was fine. We then sat down and as soon as the waitress came up she rolled her eyes huffed and puffed. Then she took the napkins and threw them down and asked as what we wanted to drink. Now this has happened more than once of how she was acting. Pam gave us attitude during the lunch meal. I am a regular customer and never had a problem once. There was no reason for the behavior what so ever. This does reflect on the company as well.

Applebee's lack of nutrional information

It is unfortunate that Applebee's is unable to provide nutrional information regarding their menu. I guess it's back to TGIFriday's, who by the way provide excellent online nutritional informatiom. This fact leads me to GUESS that Applebee's should have the same capablity but choices not to offer.

Also removing the Orange Glazed Salmon from the menu was a HUGE mistake. Is it not possible to offer both choices, Orange Glazed and Herb Garlic since they are at opposite ends of the spctrum? I guess I'm back to TGIFridays, who by the way provide excellent online nutrional information. This makes me guess that Applebee's should have the same capability.

Applebee's bad food

What has happened to the food at Applebees? They use to be pretty good for the money but after the food we ate there tonight, we will never go back. If you want a salad at lunch or a burger they are all right. But never go there for a dinner. The baby ribs we had were really awful, they had a bad taste and the fries and slaw was just as bad. And for the price for the amount of food we got was just a rip off. I know now that no matter what we will go somewhere else and never go back to Applebees.
And the service was bad, the young teenager at the door was rude, she was talking to another teenager that worked there, did not even say hello, we stood there for a minute and then told her that we would like a seat. To me they were all like teenagers, they were all dressed in jeans and white shirts. I think they should make them dress a little better then they do and tell them that customers come first before their friends. It's their job to put customers first not to stand around and talk to each other. And when we left there was three teenagers who worked there just hanging around talking at the door and not one of them said hope you come back or anything.
What kind of restaurant is that? It's just a place for those young people to hang out. I really hope that they get better. But either way, we are done with them and will never ever go back!

WE went to Applebees tonight it cost nine dollars a burger...Crazy to charge that much money.. And sometimes the waitress we gets never shuts up she goes on about her self like were there to visit her...then after talking to her then another person comes by to ask is everything okay... The beer is always stale.. One time we were there they had a waitress dusting off the lights that hang over the tables... that was rude cause the dust was getting on the other tables...

Applebee's terrible experience

On October 3rd of 2008, I went to my local Applebee's and order Chicken Parmesan to go, which I have ordered numerous times before. When I got home, 5 minutes away, I was very very unhappy with the quality of the food. I immediately went online to Applebees.com and filled out a complaint form. They promised to reply within 2-3 business days, but never contacted me. The next week, I sent a few more messages to their site, but still never got a reply. On Saturday, October 11th, I called the home office at the number listed on the receipt (which I gave to one of the managers the next day). Again, I got no response, no phone call, no e-mail, nothing. So on Sunday, October 12th, I went to the restaurant to speak to a manager. I spoke to Michael. He claimed George, the GM, tried to call me at work but that 'I was no longer employed there'. This was an outright lie, as I didn't even give Applebee's my work number or name of company! So Michael took my cell phone number, and George called me the next day. So, on Monday, October 13th, George called and apologized for what I had been through and for the poor quality of my order. He promised to contact his district office and have them send me some gift cards for my troubles and unhappiness. I assumed he would call or e-mail them the next day. Well, Wednesday came and nothing in my mailbox. Thursday, nothing. Friday, still nothing. And again, NO phone calls, NO e-mails, NO nothing. I have spent countless hours e-mailing, on the phone, and driving around just trying to get this poor quality food issue resolved. I've been constantly ignored, never contacted by anyone at the corporate level, never re-compensated for the $11.99 I spent, and even put up with a rude hostess.

Okay, first of all, you say you live 5 minutes away, so why not drive back and get it fixed right away? Secondly, why not call the restaurant instead of going to the website? If you call right away they will take care of it for you. Lastly, why waste all this extra time ### about $12. If you were too ignorant to do one of the first two things I mentioned, who cares that you're out $13 now, now you're just wasting everyone's time.

Applebee's manager very rude

Me and my two daughters visited the Applebees in Mt, Pleasant on Friday and we were seated promtly and the Manager came over and took out order. My oldest daughter which is 21 and I ordered a mixed drink and my youngest who is 20 ordered a glass of water. He asked to see our ID and we showed him and he looked at the ID 's and had the nerve to accuse my daughters of swithching their ID's in order to get alchohol. He all but called me and my daughter a liar. We finally had to get up and leave the rest. and go to another one because he refused to serve us.

Applebee's mediocre food

8/29/08
I had a $25 gift card for Christmas '07 and invited my friend of twenty-five years to lunch on Feb. '08, whom I haven't seen in all that time. I made up the difference between the gift card and my final bill.
In my opinion, the food was mediocre at best.
The ONLY plus of the whole dining experience was the effervescent personality of the waitress. She made me forget all the minus's of the whole dining experience and I tipped her accordingly, meaning a very good gratuity.
Needless to say, I have yet to return to an Applebee's since.
Albert
