Angry beyond words
Complaint Rating:
Company information: Aurora Loan Services United States alservices.com
Aurora Loan Service is the worst Mortgage company in the United States. They don't try to work with you nor do they seem to care. Originally I was attempting to do a loan modification, they told me that I needed to provide them with financials over the phone. Once I did that they told me that I had an access amount of income so I wouldn't qualify. I told them that I hadn't given them everything and that I was two months behind on my car note and three months behind on my student loan as a result of me continuing to make my mortgage payment. They advised me to call back with more detail information and when I did they told me that I had too many bills and that they still couldn't do anything for me. What a rip off...they never had any intentions on helping me. I then asked if they could just sell my loan to another mortgage company, they responded by saying that I didn't have the authority to do that. I am sooooo, angry with them and I feel totally helpless. To add insult to injury the conversation ended with them asking me when I would be able to make a payment on my mortgage because I'm still owing for August.

We have had the same kind of problems with Aurora Loan Services. They raised our monthly payment $450 because of escrow miscalculations, and then they did not want to work with us. We eventually got behind one payment because of this unexpected increase. (We've noticed that's happened to a lot of other people also.) We called them to work out a payment arrangement, and they said we could not skip a payment. What they offered was paying off the late payment over a period of six months, which then increased our monthly payment by even more - when it was already difficult to pay the extra $450.
We worked overtime, adjusted our tax withholdings and struggled to make the payments, although we did make them. Then we started getting notices from Aurora Loan Services saying we were late. When we called, they would say to just ignore the late notices since we had a payment agreement worked out. The final straw was when we got a notice from them saying they would start foreclosure proceedings. (We noticed other complaints online saying this same thing had happened to others, and bankrupcty proceedings were started against these other people, regardless of any agreements that were done.) Again, we called them, and they said to just ignore it because we had a payment agreement worked out. We went to their office in Highlands Ranch and asked to speak to someone, and they told us there was no one there to speak to, and they directed us to a phone in their lobby.
Finally, because we were concerned that they would foreclose regardless of any agreement we had, and apparent poor communication within their organization, we asked what was due and paid it, by delaying our second mortgage payment. They sure seemed surprised when we said we would pay the remaining balance. It's almost like they want to foreclose.
Now some other problems have come up, including them not reporting that we paid as agreed under the terms of the agreement, and they've reported us late during that time, even though they said they would not. This is negatively affecting our credit, and making it hard to refinance elsewhere. In addition, they did not correctly post a payment that was made online, and they did not notify us that the payment was still outstanding, because supposedly an account number was put in wrong.
We are going to file a complaint against them. Even though they won't tell you who their regulatory agency is when you want to file a complaint, we went online and eventually found the information. The agency to file a complaint with is the Office of Thrift Supervision. Their website is:
www.ots.treas.gov
We would recommend that anyone that has had these same kinds of problems file a complaint with the Office of Thrift Supervision. It's probably especially important to have some kind of documentation now that Lehman Brothers, their parent company, has filed bankruptcy. |
