I AM AN INSURANCE AGENT. A/name removed/ FILEDA ROOF CLAIM FOR HER ON HER RESIDENCE WITHOUT HER OK OR CALLING ME, THE AGENT. TOLD HER THERE WAS DAMAGE FROM HAIL AND MADE UP A DATE OF JUNE 6, 2009 AND FILED A CLAIM. THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE THAT SHOULD HAVE FILED A CLAIM IS THE INSURED OR ME BY THIS LADY CALLING ME. THIS LADY IS 80 YEARS OLD AND SHE DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE ENTIRE PICTURE OF WHAT THIS RANDY WAS DOING. SHE SAID HE WAS HIGH PRESSURED AND TOLD HER THAT HE WOULD HANDLE EVERYTHING. I HAVE CONTACTED MY COMPANY TO HAVE THIS CLAIM TAKEN OFF OF HER RECORD. I WILL SEND OUT AN ADJUSTER TO LOOK AT HER ROOF AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY HAIL DAMAGE. TO PREY ON ELDERLY PEOPLE AND MISLEAD THEM AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING AS TRYING TO HELP THEM AND HAVE NO AUTHORITY OR OK FROM ANYONE TO FILE A CLAIM IS TO ME VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

| I find this post absolutely ridiculous, I work for American Shingle and there are no "high pressure tactics" involved in anything that the company does. From the good people like Randy that go into zip codes that were declared"" CATASTROPHE ZONES" by the insurance companies themselves. All the way down the line to the contractors doing the installation of the product, this company provides a valuable service to homeowners who pay their premiums year after year, and when a severe storm hits an area, it is their RIGHT to file a claim and have an adjuster from THEIR insurance company come out and do a thorough inspection of their property.Perhaps homeowners should ask their agents what kind of bonus they are getting at years end for every policy holder that DOES NOT file a claim. And for the record every person I have helped get in touch with their insurance claims center, has to speak with a customer service person on the phone. And that person HAS TO speak to the insured and ask them a NUMBER of DETAILED questions including "DO YOU WANT TO FILE THIS CLAIM TODAY?" It is a homeowners responsibility as stated in their mortage agreement and their insurance policy that they will maintain, and keep in good repair their property. In the case of a catostrophic storm that hit's an area, the homeowner only has a certain amount of time in which to file, or the insurance company will tell them" you waited too long" we will not cover this damage, you should have done your" due dilligence" and called us after the event happened so we could have inspected the possible damage in a timely fashion. |

| randall shenck you are a liar.your company is a sham and you know it.i was at an older woman's home one day and she told me that the a.s. rep was theer over two and a half hours trying to wrestle her insurance check from her hands.and guess what she had no measurable hail damage to her roof. day before yesterday in my town one of the a.s. reps pushed an insurance adjuster off the damn roof because he would not agree that hail damage existed. shame on you and your pack of gyspy trash !!! |
|
|
| If she had "no measuarble hail damage" how did she end up with an insurance check? AS reps do not go up on roofs and pushing an adjuster off? As a matter of public record can you provide the police report documenting the assault? Something seems amiss with some of your accustaions. |
|
|
| sandandtone is right. If there was no hail damage she would not have a check from her insurance company. If she did have a check for roof replacement and she doesnt give it to someone to do her roof she needs to send it back to the insurance company or she is committing insurance fraud and that IS illegal. It sounds to me like "tatzoo777" is just trying to slander a decent company(which is also illegal without some kind of evidence to support claims). Mabe your a competing contractor who's on the verge of going out of buisness or one of the insurance agents that didnt quite get the bonus they wanted all because of American Shingle. |
|
|
| This claim is false. I work for American Shingle and there is no "Oclire Nuanes" anywhere in our database. She has never been a client with American Shingle. |
|
|
| Its not a lie, an American Rep showed up at my property and told me that I had damage and told me that he done houses in the neighborhood and HE contacted the insurance adjuster and put in a claim. I don't like that and I will not do business with them for this reason. Obviously, I am doing my due diligence! |
|
|
| an a.s. guy showed up at my home today and told me to claim hail damage even though there has never been hail around here in my memory... complete scam. |
|
|
| I work for a insurance companies and have for years. It seems one bad apple spoil the good. <WE >the insurance companies have no problem collecting premiums. We also do not call our insured to see if all is ok.. I don't see why a person that can live in there own home and take care of themselves can't make there own decision, we take there premium checks from old people. Roofers do the job for the price insurance pays. If your local roofer charges more tough shit. If our customers do not know there is damage and later it cost more money for them who wins? My customer who supports my family, or the insurance companies who pay me? Please sit at someones house for two hours pound the lady for an ok.. REALLY! I think there is a law that gives homeowners 3 or 4 days to cancel. But as a claims adj i guess the roof guys give you job security. |

| One thing wrong here opinions of what they Sayers thought happened. All this stuff is, is hear say and is not facts. Here is a fact, American Shingle done my roof and it is great. They worked with my insurance company and both parties were very professional in the way they agreed on a price and replaced my roof. Thank you Cotton States and Thank you American Shingle. I have a brand new roof that was damaged by hail storms here in my area where I live. Crazy thing is I see people getting help from American Shingle daily as the yard signs go up on another quality job and I still have friends that refuse to let them help out even with my roof replaced, which is sharp. The sad thing is they think they have no damage which is not visible from the GROUND. Best of luck to all you hard worker's My roof looks great and American Shingle did it. Thank You also Cotton States for working with them on my behalf. |
|
|
| Johhny G, it is obvious you work for AS and wrote that phony comment. "Another quality job" huh? That has salesman stamped all over it. |
|
|
| I had a sales rep knock at my door and she was very friendly and professional. They helped me get a new roof through my insurance company I gave them referrals after my roof was done because it was actually done right IT IS NOT A SCAM, American Shingle just moved to my area and I was a little worried at first but after the adjuster came out and they sent someone to represent me I got my roof approved for wind and hail damage when I had been denied 6 months ago. So in my opinion American Shingle does a great job and will be very successful. |

| American Shingle IS NOT a scam. Other roofing companies would like to believe they were because American Shingle is their competition. You people calling the sales reps for American Shingle "gypsies" and "scam artists" really need to open your closed minds to an"INCREDIBLE" sales technique, going to the people instead of waiting for the people to have to come to them! Yes, when they get set up in an area they do pull weather reports to see when the last recorded hail hit that area. This is done because the homeowner has one year (in our state, probably the same in other states) to file a claim for any damage done by that last hail storm. Didn't know that? Of course not!! Your insurance company isn't going to call you up and tell you that! I know people with buckets in their attics because of roof leaks and they weren't aware that insurance would pay for their roofs to be replaced! Also, all these people complaining about the time between having their roofs inspected and the installation of the new roof, American Shingle buys quality materials for the roofs, not just ANY shingle, if you have to wait a few weeks so what! Most of you weren't even AWARE of the damage your roofs had until American Shingle met with YOUR insurance adjuster and pointed out the damage for you!! If you didn't even know your roof was damaged to begin with why do you feel like the roof has to be replaced IMMEDIATELY?!? You would have still been sitting in your den on your couch past the last day a claim could have been filed and wouldn't know any difference until your roof leaked into your home! Just because a company takes a new approach by coming to you and advocates for you with your insurance adjuster does not make it a scam!!! This company is in Colorado, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina and Arkansas!!! They are NOT gypsies, just using a great business technique to make people aware of damage to their roofs, AND make them aware that they have the right to file it with their insurance company (that's why you pay for your insurance). |

| I had my roof put on by A.S.SI and the second I had a yard sign in my front yard here come all the other contractors knocking on my door telling how A.S.S.I is a scam and to go with them and they'll have my roof on in a week, I gotta say at first I was like well hell 1 week or 3 months hmmm so I thought and I thought and I came to the conclusion that I feel comfy with a company that has a backlog of three months versus a week and in the end I had a great roof installed by wonderful roofers .So to all you who think A.S.S.I is a scam. You are obviously a fucking retard, how dare you slander a company which you know nothing about, oh boo hoo there aggressive, well guess what ya fuckin putts we are in a recession and if your gonna be succesfull you have to be aggressive, besides that they are employing ALOT of people and probably have created more jobs than our peice of shit government. Ok I am done for now but to all who disagree FUCK OFF AND DIE SLOW. |

Then maybe you American Shingle people can explain this...
"BBB Accreditation
On March 19, 2010 the accreditation was suspended due to failure to respond to one or more customer complaints filed with the BBB. The matter will be reviewed by the BBB's Board of Directors at its next meeting on April 22, 2010."
http://www.bbb.org/central-alabama/business-reviews/roofing-contractors/american-shingle-of-birmingham-in-birmingham-al-90028360
~ You guys may think us (the consumers) are stupid... But you might just be surprised what happens when you mess with the wrong one... |
|
|
| o.k big whoop they have a couple complaints on the b.b.b out the how many thousands of roofs they put on..I think thats pretty damn good, besides the b.b.b is a load of crock, there is no way to verify that consumer complaints are legit, maybe they just dont wanna pay their balance so they make complaints to try to get one over on american shingle. |

| Umm...I have been looking at the roofing sales business because of the economy. I've checked out Aspen of Lee's Summit, American Shingle and several others. Aspen of Lee's Summit did approximately 70 mil in business and run an A- with the BBB. Each American Shingle location carries it's own bbb rating. However I've been told that American Shingle did approx 300 mil in roof's last year. There are going to be complaints when you put on that many shingles! However I also noted on bbb that every last complaint was either taken care of or the company was making a good faith effort to do so. Now for my story. I contacted my Shelter agent because I had shingles blowing off my roof. HE SHELTER AGENT suggested I replace the roof myself because if I had 2 claims in a given year they would CANCEL ME!! SO MISTER INSURANCE AGENT MY QUESTION IS THIS. After a storm why don't you get your ass out on your neighbors door step and ask them if they had heavy hail hit their roof so that it could be taken care of before "they wait to long" to file a claim? Roofing is like any other business it's competitive!!! The sales originators are just that, they are the first contact. The insurance adjuster is the one who ultimately buys the roof or in some cases I've seen shadowing Aspen and American Shingle agents to find if it's a job I'd like to do DENY THE CLAIM IF THERE IS DAMAGE ANYWAY. I physically stuck my finger in a roof shingle while shadowing a Aspen rep in Little Rock a couple of weeks ago and the adjustor from STATE FARM said that they would be denying any claims in that neighborhood!!! Hello Mr. agent with the halo around your horns! |

Well, In Wichita Ks and surrounding areas, American Shingle has showed on the scene of the cat situation of 07/08/2009.
American shingle set up shop in Wichita Ks about Eight months ago, they moved in from Atlanta Ga.
American shingle will call, solicited home owners stating the have hail damage, American Shingle Sales Representatives will scoping the roof from the ground. ALL roof inspection should be done from the roof if possible, or ladder. THIS is the industry standard !!!
Certified Roofer with at least One year of training should be inspecting fore damage
This does not occur, with the American Shingle representative. ( Usually less than 6 months experience)
Sales people are not trained in damage recognition. (Haage engineering provides this), Sales people are making the call to the claims center, ( Home Owners responsibility)
I have personally been out on a multitude of claims in our area, In which claims have been filed with out pre-inspection, only to arrive on site and find no damage to the roof.
This could be prevented if American Shingle would send out Qualified personnel, Certified Inspectors, for this type of work.
(Ask for documentation of Certificate for damage recognition, If your roofer has this he is serious about his job, and most likely cares what he is doing for you.)
This still goes on the home owners record as a filed claim, only denied. Get to many of these and the possibility of cancellation is greatly increased. This is a fact.
American Shingle will schedule these appointments and meet the Adjuster at the home site, Only this time a different representative will show, never have been to the site before, and NOT knowing if there is any damage. If they would train their people to Inspect first, then recommend the Home owner make the claim, this may help American Shingle and their now growing reputation of scammers. As far as the Insurance companies are concerned, and local industry representatives In Kansas City, they have newspaper ad's, and T.V. commercials warning against the methods of this company.
You can find these on line in the archives of the local news stations & newspapers.
American Shingles method's have wasted many productive man hours, on wasted inspections, and MISS filed claims.
If you don't believe these statement call the local Claims office of any Insurance company, ask about the correct process.
Adjusters are tired of these false claim being made on the Insureds. ( Call the Farmers claims office, find out)
Just making these few steps.
American Shingle will have you sign a contingency contract, this binds you to the requirement to use them for repairs. ( Only if the roof is 65% damaged) American Shingle will not do small repairs.
DO Not sign a contract unless you Know the price, you are setting your self up to be ripped off. When you buy a car, do you let the sales man tell you " Just sign her" I will tell you the price later???
A company that is truly concerned about you & your largest investment in life, should be willing to help you in your repairs on matter how large Or small.
In the Wichita area American Shingle has a A - rating, not bad. Or is it they have only been in business in Wichita Ks, for about Six Months, about Ten in Kansas City.
When asked how long they had been in business in Kansas City, by a Adjuster the representative lied and stated Ten years. The Adjuster confronted the representative with the statement of, you just move here Eight months ago.
American Shingle is from out of town ( Stormers ) and probably will be gone soon, and your warranty with them |

| Hmmm, do you really think GAF-Elk, , the premier shingle in the industry would associate themselves with a scam company? Do you really think they would risk their reputation? Nope. When you do thousands of roofs, there is always the possibility that consumer and provider will disagree, , heck I disagree with my wife sometimes, and i would forfeit my life for her. American Shingle is an advocate for the homeowner, nothing more and nothing less. If the roof is found not damaged by the insurance company's adjuster, , the homeowner gets the peace of mind that their investment is safe and if not, , then they earned and paid for the right to have it replaced. |

Contrary to what the folks who work at American Shingle are saying here...American Shingle is a very badly run company...and NO I don't work for another roofing company. I am just a hard working person who is having their time, money and home screwed with by this company. Here is a copy of the letter I am sending this poor excuse of a business...
I am writing you to CANCEL my business with you. I do not spend money with companies who treat their customer the way you have treated me. I have also notified all of the friends that I referred your company to and told them of your shoddy business practices and I plan on reporting you to the Better Business Bureau and to my large national insurance company and tell them to warn folks away from you!
When your salesman talked with me he told me how honest and dependable your company is and that my roof was going to be done in weeks…then it went to two months….now it’s gone to three months….just how long do you think I will put up with water dripping in my dinning room? Honest? Dependable? Who do you think you’re kidding with that line? On your web site you have the audacity to claim “professionalism”…I sure don’t call any of this professional!! The testimonials must be fake….they all claim quick and speedy service…”showed up in a timely manner”…”returned phone calls in a timely manner”…”worked performed within 2 or 3 days”…”they came out the next day”….they read like a form letter, read like an advertisement….same phases over and over…same style…etc…perhaps written by your marketing department? Also I noticed that no where on your web site is there a way to contact the home office of your company…..I believe I now understand why you don’t let it be known how to actually contact any one with actual authority….they would be swamped with complaints!! I took vacation time to deal with my roof…and now less than a week before the date, which has been scheduled for almost two months, you call and change it to days I can’t get off work. I can’t change my vacation time so now it will go to waste! I call your customer NO service and speak with a person in your call center who has no authority to do anything….knows nothing….and can’t help with anything…BUT DID TELL ME THAT I HAVE TO FILL OUT ALL KINDS OF PAPERWORK JUST TO GET MY MONEY BACK SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE…..Why did you even waste the space on my answering machine giving me a number to call??? I asked to speak with the manager (Clinton Thomas) and was told I would have to call back. I did call back and got locked into your FAKE telephone system….yes, FAKE!! I called 5 times….every time it told me the wait was less than 2 mins….every time I waited 12 to 15 mins….when I finally became the number one caller your system asks for my number and kicks me off….ALL 5 TIMES THIS HAPPENED!!! I waited for hours and NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK FROM ANY OF THE MESSAGES I LEFT ON YOUR SYSTEM.
I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT YOU NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION OF CALLING ME OR ANYONE ONE ELSE BACK.
Later I continued to redial until I started out as the first caller in line….still got the “give us your number and we’ll call you back” line …after 11 times I finally got answered, only to have someone start dialing a phone number on me….I said “hello” and the lady was surprised, she said “oh, sorry, I was trying to make a call” I said” I was trying to contact you” She then actually said ”Oh, we don’t normally answer these lines I will have to put you on hold” I said “ I am trying to contact Clinton Thomas” She said ”hold please”…after another 17 mins I was just cut off again!!!
I haven't finished the letter yet...I went on line to try and find the home office contact info...couldn't find that but I did find tons of complaints...from people...from insurance agents...wish I had done the research sooner!! PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY !! Unless you really enjoy mental pain...cause they will cause it!! They act like they are just a front for sub-contrctors...Can't speak to a real person...can't get the promised work done...can't get your money back...STAY AWAY FROM THEM...DON'T USE THEM...you'd be better off getting your own labor crew from in front of Home Depot and doing it yourself. The only good coments about this company come from their employees or the rather fake sounding letters on their web site. You employees who are defending your company need to realize that your American Shingle office is not the only one...maybe the only one worth a crap...but there are way to many complaints out there...newspaper articles...TV ads...BBB reports...to consider...so please don't have the audacity to say that American Shigle is actually a good company...Because I personally will never believe you because of what they are doing to me!!!
I am actually considering a lawsuit over the extra damage to my dinning room caused by their lack of promised service. |

I finally got a number for the home office in Charlotte, NC (877)424-5349 I first asked for their customer care manager Ms Jamie Werner x4265...I was cut off...I tried 7 times...was cut off 7 times...I tried other numbers (704)625-0381...got cut off...seems to be their standard operating procedure...finally got the President's (Rich Steffy) number (x 4500) got a recording that the number had been chaged to (678)787-2797...called that number and got a recording...left a message for him...
I have been on the phone now for 4 hours and 16mins...can't get a real person to do anything...Have not had anyone call me back even though I have left 17 messages...and I have been very polite in all my messages...nothing...
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!! |
