I can not believe that a show like Adventure Time is played on cartoon network for kids to watch. I believe it should be taken off the air! Immediately! How is it a PG cartoon? It has so many things wrong with it. In tonights episode they show 12 year old Finn dancing on a pole like a striper and his best friend the dog chugging some green stuff at a party in a red cup. While he drinks this liquid his friends are chanting "chug, chug". Then bugs booty dancing and at the end the dog is hypnotized by evil demons. It's really sad that this is on the air for kids to see. The show is not on adult swim, it's on along with all the other kid cartoons.

Marshall Lee needs an episode to himself, or more episodes with him in it. He's a very loved character, and he deserves more than to be in like 3 episodes.

Prude. Why shelter your children from the humor of real life. Are you trying to raise them to be babies forever?🙄

Hi! I’m 21 years old and I’ve watched every Adventure Time episode and I can agree that it isn’t for kids. Some episodes may be okay for children to watch, but scenes like chugging drinks, dancing on stripper poles aren’t. This isn’t the only reason why it’s not for kids. Kids & some adults may not understand but the latest seasons have themes that are very dark. It may be hidden because of the cute cartoon illustrations and colorful contrasts. An example would be when Finn finds out about the remaining human survivors, his mom, too. To think that Finn wouldn’t ever be able to feel the skin or touch of his mom anymore because her consciousness was transferred to a machine? And the fact that the whole show is in a post-apocalyptic setting. Especially the season about Marcelline too. I don’t want to get into details because this would spoil too much and I don’t think it’ll be enough context. These are few examples only. Watching the show without really understanding it may be okay but once you really let each episode sink in, it will haunt you. Even I feel uneasy when I see adventure time posters or when my siblings watch it on cartoon network.

I mean we cant really protect our children against the world. What I’m saying is, they might not understand the show and that’s okay. They wouldnt know about getting drunk so it’s harmless, they’ll understand once they’re older.

Oh you poor over protective fools, you are in for a rude awakening, you might as well just ban them from going to school, or even going out of the house at all, and TV in general, because they are going to learn a plethora of bad words out there, they might even have their first cigarette and have a sip of alcohol, or see their first loaded pointed in their face, or someone getting stabbed, the world is very scary place, and you poor naive fools are worried about Adventure time teaching them rude words, something that allows then to escape the harshness of the real world. I wish you the best of luck, because they will end up resenting you, or worse getting into serious trouble because of the mini dictatorship you have imposed on them.

Seriously moms (and dads)?! Seriously?! There are LITERALLY people starving in third world countries, and people risking their lives in war to save other peoples.
And, with everything thats messed up and wrong with the world... You want to complain about your *pwecious baby child* hearing the word "butt" on televsion!?
Some people are seriously messed up.
Any parent who lets their kids watch bratty disney channel sitcoms that teach you nothing but:
act like a spoiled brat and you will always get what you want?
that everyone around you is your enemy?
that parents are the enemy?
that you shouldn't speak up for another person?
but not Adventure time is messed up.
Adventure time is creative, intelligent show
I saw one parent at the beginning of this thread complaining about how they missed tv back in the "good ol days". i believe it was trayferrari whom stated: "Whatever happened to the flintstones, the jetsons, rainbow bright, heman and shera? "
i don't know if you noticed, but its 2015, and just when kids tv shows *like adventure time and the new star wars movie!* bring in amazing female roles
(princess bubblegum, the female scientist, and lady rainicorn, the only rainicorn on american tv to ever encourage bilingualism and new cultures, in the house!) and have actual characters, You want to go back to RAINBOW BRIGHT and THE FLINTSTONES!
Adventure time teaches life lessons and the overall message is:
Help people in need.
Bullying is not cool.
Science is cool
Different cultures are cool.
Homies help Homies (or to everyone who doesn't speak 12 year old, be a good friend)
All genders and all races and foreigners and all sexual orientations, everyone who's different, or the same, should be treated like people.
BE. A. GOOD.PERSON.
And if you want your kids watching some sexist crap, about a woman who dresses like a, in a skimpy little white dress, get saved by a manly super hero than adventure time, you obviously have bad intentions for your children and should go to jail for child abuse.
Seriously guys i think we can get past "this stinks" and "what the butt"

If you don't want your children exposed to it Then don't let them watch it, it's as simple as that. I was watching south park when I was in primary school and at 25 I'm a functioning member of society and haven't murdered anybody and don't plan on doing so any time soon.
The key was having a mother that actually taught me right from wrong and didn't leave the parenting to the TV.
If I wanted to watch or play an adult rated film my mother would usually watch it first and judge whether I was mature enough to handle it which is what parents should be doing. Not blanket banning shows for everybody because "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"
Children are a lot smarter and well adjusted than people seem to give them credit for these days and reactionary parents always spoil everything to try and keep them "safe" even though the children have no idea what they're being kept safe from.

Ok, well here's a perspective from a 21 year old with no kids! I think this show is totally inappropriate for children and sure we can say "oh but they don't actually know what that stuff is" Well that's not the point. It's the fact that it's a show created to be aimed at that age group and we're putting these children in such a place where they get opened up to this stuff. It's more about thinking what kind of impact it's going to have on children and what they're exposed to at a young age that affects them mentality and spiritually!
What are you really exposing your kids to? And what kind of environment are we raising our kids up in? Think about it people.

@ChaoticlyYours LIES! Adventure time actually was created by Pendelton Ward for Random Cartoons(for children)on Nickelodeon in about 2009. Later, Pendelton took the show to Cartoon Network as a kids show. It's target age is preteen to teen. So before anyone of you ### about a kids show, one that's pretty funny and imaginative while still being appropiate, do some reasearch. Also, a show that uses the word "butt" and "sucks" or "freaking" is not innapropiate. Don't worry though, kids will learn all the colorfull "vocabulary" and dirty jokes at school. So everyone, don't go ultra-mecha-catholic-mother on your kids, they deserve a fun childhood.

I agree that this show is wildly inappropriate for children. An early episode featured the dog polishing off vanilla ice cream from a town of mushroom topped houses and returning with the ice cream covering his face. Another episode featured Finn and the flame princess causing an explosion after a session of hugging. A recurring story line features a king who continually spanks his subjects and the subjects willfully submit to the spanking even after receiving a more benevolent ruler in Finn. Another episode shows Finn tracing the rim of rainacorn's "second mouth" as she lays incapacitated. Another one shows Jake sticking his thumb in her behind - she shows approval by blushing and kissing him on the cheek.

The bubblegum princess is cast as a good character but engages in witchcraft and oftentimes is sociopathic towards her subjects. An episode shows Finn and Jake finding the zombie/corpse princess at the bottom of a grave from being pushed in - they opt to continue with their quest rather than render aid or pretending to care. Not all children will comprehend the numerous sexual innuendo but the way horrible way the "heroes" treat each other is not appreciated by most judging by the comments.

I still don't know whether to laugh or to feel bad for all the parents on this complaint board who feel that this show is inappropriate for their children. I can assume that as children, they never had a creative outlet that would let them grow and strengthen their brains. Sure arts and crafts are great. But for most American children, T.V shows are very enjoyable. It's nice to look forward to every Saturday morning for your favorite cartoon. I remember when I was young, I had really enjoyed Digimon. I did not obsess about Digimon cards. I did enjoy the toys, but I mostly enjoyed the wonder and creativity of the show, and i feel if it wasn't for that show, I wouldn't be as creative and intelligent of a person I am today. If I had grown up watching only what my parents wanted me to watch, I imagine I'd be a very bland person. So now I'm seeing my niece and nephew grow, and they are so intelligent and they both love the show. thats right i have no children of my own, but most all my friends and family and their children actually watch Adventure Time show, and I honestly think it's a phenomenal truly original T.V show that does not stick to the conventional T.V shows. I love it's originality, and I hope it sticks around for many years. as for the bad parents on this complaint board. The last century called. They want their mentality back.

WALT DISNEY started it. Mickey Mouse gets drunk in the Gallopin Gaucho -one of the first good ole wholesome Disney short showing Mickey drinking, smoking, oogling the opposite sex, and even Walt throws in a gold old female abduction). Here's a good link http://www.sjsu.edu/people/maureen.smith/courses/ChAD75/s1/disney%20substances.pdf. Anyhow the American society has since let this lewd company grow into a multimillion dollar enterprise while exposing our children to the absolute worst examples of cultural appropriation of native people and black people not to mention giving us a glimpse of numerous Disney characters smoking, drinking, partying, objectifying women, running away from home, spanking, shooting guns, uttering verbal threats, uttering death threats, getting into bar fights and abusing animals. So parents turn a blind eye to the cultural education provided to you by Disney corp and throw them thousands of dollars on fancy trips to the magic kingdom, (instead of exposing your kids to the real magic of the natural world and doing some REAL travelling) Disney after all produced some of the greats like Miley Cyrus. Now don't even talk to me about what parents let their kids listen to. I think Beyoncé Knowles, Rhi Rhi and Miley are absolute trash examples of women selling their bodies for money but it confounds me how many parents even let their kids listen to the trashy music and even buy their music or attending their pornographic concerts with their kids. These are real women showing kids what kind of inappropriateness can be displayed in real life. My kids are able to tell the difference between reality and a cartoon, can yours? Despite Roadrunner's evoking of Wiley coyote's demise countless times, somehow me and my siblings survived through to adulthood because guess what.. we were not compelled to jump over cliffs because we were smart enough to know that cartoons are just cartoons.

I am honestly terrified that this show is still on the air for young, impressionable children to watch. Today my 9 year old girl watched an episode featuring a 'clown nurse' of sorts, pinning down Finn the Human and proceeding to lick his toe, whilst cackling manically and proclaiming 'ITS THE ONLY WAY!' The show was on during daytime TV and left my daughter in tears. Frankly, this section of the show left me questioning why none of the editors of the show saw this as inappropriate and wrong to show to children. Here are some files i found showing the scene in question. (they do not belong to me) I am not calling for an outright ban on the show; I rather would like to see a more toned down approach with less suggestive scenes.
Sincerely, a concerned parent.

Please keep adventure time on for many years to come! I love the show! I feel bad for all the misguided parents out there negatively complaining and being counterproductive. They should know they can just turn the T.V off or turn the channel. It's sad they feel they need to smack talk such a creative, and truly talented T.V show. It entertains me and the kids so much. I feel it puts out positive messages that speaks volumes, I want the adventure time team to keep it up! And parents if it bothers you so much, turn off the T.V! No need to spoil everybody else's good time.

No the parents are not overreacting at all. The show presents adult, risky behaviours as if they were just normal fun.
The parents who see a problem in this are not crazy nor are they over protective.
Even if the show is taken off the air - the reviews are fair. They let others know that this show moves the line of appropriate vs. inappropriate in kids' minds.
To me - this is why so many see violent hazing acts as "just fun" and call others 'wimps" etc when they see a problem with hazing on the order of a 15 to 1 beat-down.

Too many compliments or awards or kind words and all kinds of people are up in arms about the dumbing down of america.

Mass slaughter as humor and some of those same folks cry. "don't take away my fun just cause you're a nerd/ whipped/ naive etc."

I'm fine with all the religious whackjobs and overprotective parents forbiding their children from watching this wonderful, creative show. I mean honestly, your kid is just going to kill itself because of the shame and repression they have lived with, due to your feeble mind and your archaic biblical views. Let's face it, the world has moved on, the dark ages are over, and your kind doesn't belong here.

My boys are 2 & 4. I do not allow these types of shows. I personally would not watch them. Scripture points out not all things that are lawful are beneficial. There are plenty of ways to get a laugh without subjecting ourselves to things which are not beneficial for building character. I'm responsible for training my sons to be men and I don't take this charge lightly.

WOW. What a collection of idiots we have here.

I feel bad for the children that belong to these pathetic, ignorant parents. If you are so concerned about Adventure Time that you actually took time to post a whining, sniveling post on the internet about it...you are a lousy parent.

And wtf is with all this "satanic" crap? Like, really? Get over your imaginary friend in the sky, i would rather have my kids watch Adventure Time than read the bible.

You want to talk about an inappropriate story for kids? Full of contradiction and lies? There you have it, the bible. How you can read the crap in that and BELIEVE it still amazes me. Immaculate conception? People rising from the dead? So, you must be required to believe in zombies if you believe the garbage in the bible. Give me a break.

I say, your kids would be better off being raised by Finn and Jake than the likes of you. Filling their mind with your own religious insanity, and you are worried about the cartoon? Oh, the irony

I currently tuned into new episodes and a lot of sexual adult situations are on this show! Penis shaped characters and vagina tree?! Seriously this show should be banned! I can not believe this show is on the air for kids to watch. Parents beware of what your kids watch because this show will make your children demented, and act sexual!

Ahem.

This show is not some kind of "demonic child plague" or whatever you call it. It's a new breed of children shows. Older cartons were mindless fun, and they could be enjoyed by almost anyone. That still stands true today, but modern television has evolved to a point where viewers are not content. These kinds of shows were created to make an enjoyable experience. It's a balance between mindless violence and plot driven motives and stories that move along as seasons pass. Instead of your typical 80's "Robots or whatever", we have a show that breaks the boundary betwen child and adult programming. The problem with you soccer moms and dads is that you look way too far into things and have an opinion before viewing, but when you do view, you think it's teaching kids some messed up morales that won't benefit them, but will turn them into some kind of cult follower. Maybe, before you comment your one sided opinions on how America is ruined by a TELEVISION SHOW, you should understand what a show is, rather than what you think must be.

okay have you watched shows like SpongeBob? I'm surprised you're not saying "Oh Mr. Krabs lives in Bikini Bottom"? it's not safe for our children to be watching this you could or that Squidward is depressed so my kid will be too. I understand kids not watching things like say family guy and Simpsons which I grew up on but parents are always going to think the popular shows are bad. I am a teenager and when I was younger I watched Sailor Moon which my mother thought was inappropriate for kids but now that I'm older my mom says I don't know what I was thinking. I hear grade primaries saying F**K on the bus because they pick it up from their parents when they think the kid isn't around, If you raise your child right you shouldn't worry about it. maybe sit down with your child and explain "this is okay to watch but don't do it yourself." Think before you post stuff like this online. Also you probably grew up on stuff like sonic, yugioh, bugs bunny and tweety show if you're my age and all have great examples of violence but you don't post about that do you.

I think it's shows like this that shows how poor society really has become. I am outraged that on a Saturday morning i walked back in the room to see my 6 year old listening to this pathetic, over the top filth. This is why children nowadays are so hardened that they turn into rough, swearing, un respectful reprobates that don't know when to stop.
I am all for the MILD adult humour they put in things like sponge bob but this is over the top. I think anyone that cant see this is bad for children - well, your kids are more likely to turn into the trash we see roaming the streets causing problems for everyone. Nice one Cartoon Network, you've lost another rating and viewer.

I'm sure those of you who complain about this show would rather have your children watching the inane stuff on The Disney Channel(s), where the folks there churn out self-destructive Tweens that end up in rehab before the age of 21. Adventure Time is a brilliant and creative show, so go watch some stupid talking vegetables and poison your child with that bs instead.

Well i do think that adventure time is pushing slight boundaries, there isnt anything really innapropriate in it and most children dont actually understand the slight adult jokes - or even notice them. My whole family likes adventure time and really the creators arent trying to make it rude, they are trying to make teens and parents enjoy the show too. Adventure time is a very funny and origional show and i would hate to see it removed, so stop being so one sided.

The only thing I see here is a whole bunch of parents who are way too overprotective. I am 21 I love Adventure Time. My 5 year old niece and 3 year old nephew love it too. A lot of parents are bothered because they think Adventure Time is a product of "drugs" and that any themes of homosexuality are going to "influence" their children. First of all, Adventure Time is not about drugs, but about the human world about 1000 years after a "nuclear war" (although I think the show has replaced radiation with magic). The fallout has caused the survivors of this war to mutate at a quick rate, and Finn is the only known human left. The background story of Adventure Time is present in a few episodes and it is honestly one of the most fascinating shows I have ever seen. The conservative views that is present in the parents who do not like Adventure Time is the same conservative views that drove past wars and development of nuclear weapons. The values you have and uphold actually helped create Adventure Time, if you really think about it. You want to "protect" your children from terrible influence and yet those same views drive us to war with other nations. Censorship just hides children from the truth of our actions. If you parents, on your own time, would like to give Adventure Time a chance, try watching the episodes "I Remember You" and "Simon and Marcy". These episodes show the story of the two characters, so far that we know, who have survived the nuclear attack. In "Simon and Marcy" it basically shows, through a child's eyes, the experience of living through a disaster and trying to cope by yourself when all of your family and humanity is gone.
Now, about the fear of homosexuality present in Adventure Time, what is there to fear? People are gay, bi, straight, everything you can imagine. Hiding your children from themes of homosexuality only makes them more confused and can even lead to problems down the road. Your kids are what they are, trying to hide them from it or tell them they aren't what they are is just wrong. Adventure Time handles situations of homosexuality very well. For example, in "What Was Missing" there is a controversial scene, because it seems that Marceline the Vampire Queen and Princess Bubblegum used to be closer than friends, but are having a falling out. This shows that it is okay to be gay, and that all people face the same problems in relationships, no matter the orientation. It is done so subtly that some people don't even notice. In "The Hard Easy, " Finn kisses a frog who was cursed and he turns into a prince. They mention about how most guys would not be willing to do other guys favors like that. This episode shows that you can do things without being gay. For example, many guys are under the social stigma that they cannot like certain "feminine" things or hug other guys, because it is seen as "gay."
One reason I think Adventure Time is great is because if brings up many "mature" subjects such as war, homosexuality (although I do not view this as a mature subject, it isn't "perverted, " it's a natural thing, and people are who they are), relationships (of all kinds, not just romantic) and helps people, mostly tweens who are growing and maturing, learn how to cope with situations. The show also has a lot of humor and light moments, because it also teaches that although there are disasters and bad things in the world, there will always be a bright future. Also, if it were just depressing and serious all the time, the characters wouldn't be as loved. This show should be available to people of all ages because it isn't smut or just useless, inappropriate jokes. I hate how anyone compares this to Family Guy or the Simpsons. Adventure Time is a deep show that could honestly help the next generation grow up to be a little more accepting.

It reminds me of something a friend's mom said. Someone asked if she'd show her young daughter the Titanic movie, she said she wasn't sure if she would. The person replied "you know, you could always cover her eyes during the sex scene." My friend's mom replied "The sex scene? I'm not worried about the sex scene! I'm worried about the mass death scene when the ship is sinking!"

The picture attached is Simon and Marcy, walking amongst the wreckage of the world after the Mushroom War.
