We had recently chosen ADT security system to protect our home. THe subcontractor was Nightwatch Protection out of Salem New Hampshire. The installation went well and there was a come on rebate that you pay 99.00 and then you are sent a 99.00 Visa gift card. My first month of service was charged to my Am/Ex card. A month later I recieved a notice to send in a Check for 99.00 for the install fee as my card was rejected. (I own a home and business and a gold, platinum am/ex cards and have impeccable credit). After app 7 minutes getting through to a human, she told me I had NO balance and did not need to send payment, but something was not right and I questioned why we received the notice of denial and we worked to update the info. I then remembered the rebate that I should have recieved by now and the woman I talked to gave me yet another 800 and for the next 25 minutes I chased down the right person to process the rebate request. I talked to 5 different women by three differnt numbers and at one point I reached the same woman twice. This person's name in Rhonda. I don't know what her title is but she is in the Nightwatch Protection Inc. Salem NH office. She said she was going to help me and not yet again hand me over. When she brought up my file she noticed the Credit card denial and with great attitude in her voice demanded more info. I told her that I just went through all that and I just want to get to the rebate Visa card. She asked me who I talked to and because it had been so long on the phone and with so many people that I gave her two names that began with L and to help I said I believe that the woman was black from her voice nuances.. Rhonda then went on a rampage and basically called me a bigot and said that no one is black or white in her office etc etc etc.. It is then that I realize that the Visa rebate is a scam and she is covering something up and I could never trust ADT with the security of my home, family and business. SHe told be that I was terminiated and I told her that I would never do business with a company that was so irrational and unprofessional as well a thiefs and to set the record straight of who I am... I am married to a black man and my children are half -black and I have many friends that are BLACK !. SO FOLKS LEARN FROM MY FRUSTRATIONS. KEEP YOUR BUSINESS LOCAL AND AVOID AT ALL COST ANY OF ADT PRODUCTS AND PROMOTIONS.AND AFFILIATES ...BUYER BEWARE!

I am going thru this since I paid in November 2014, I have been ripped off with the visa card they offered me, they went back on phone conversations between ADT, and I . they found the conversation, and told me they will send it out within 2 weeks, well it has been 5 weeks waiting, I am so mad at this point . looks like another BBB, and consumer affairs complaint against ADT for fraud/scam someone needs to do something about consumers getting ripped off by this company this is not right .
they broke the contract agreement when they offered that visa card, and did not honor what was offered . I really hope ADT does the right thing .

I am currently going through the ADT "Visa gift card" fraud/scam as well. What a pain. Initially, they tried to make me work with the "licensed dealer" (who I imagine gets to pocket all the profit of every single gift card he promised but "forgot" to mail), but I refused saying that they should pull the "license" of their "dealer" and I would file reports with the Attorney General and BBB.

This is unethical and basically business fraud. ADT's brand and image are forever tarnished in my mind.

I will cancel my contract if they do not follow through. I will NEVER recommend ADT.

ADT doesn't give out the rebate checks, the subcontractor does -- I'm a salesman for one such contractor.

If your credit card was denied, that means you didn't even pay for the activation/reservation fee! She was trying to get your information, so she could process your order. You were trying to get $99 for something you never paid for, in the first place. The NERVE of ADT...trying to make money. It's like they are a business or something...tsk tsk tsk...

I GOT MY $250 REBATE CHECK…FINALLY!
Took 5 months worth of calling & calling (17 CALLS TOTAL), but I have the check in my hands!
It probably didn’t hurt that I included my business card which said that I work for a litigation company, on a complaint note….and pow, just like that, a check in 3DAYS!

I signed up with ADT in o8-07, thinking it was a two year contract because that was what I was told. I signed the K never reading the fine print and now it has come back to haunt me.
In Feb. 08, I switched over my phone carrier to Comcast and the Comcast guys worked very hard getting the line with ADT to be compatible. ADT knew what was going on that day and ADT assured me that everything was fine. I received a bill yesterday with an increase. I called ADT and told them that I had a 2 year contract and that they can not change the terms of the K and expect me to pay. I was told by them that I had a 3 year K, and yes they can change the amount after a year, that I agreed to it when I signed the original K. Well that may be true and that isn't my biggest complaint. Come to find out, the ADT wasn't working when Comcast switched me over. I think that I was told they had a signal just to get it over with. So I have been paying ADT $30 a month for over a year for q system that didn't work and still have more then a year to pay on a system to that won't wok and ADT knows that and is still keeping me to the K. Perhaps legally they are correct but what happened to ETHICS?
