I just want to mention how thankful I am for all the complaints everybody has taking the time to mention about the "so call agency" ADDLESHAW, BIRD & MITCHELL. I just received the letter today and I was about to fall for it. I went ahead to make the $20.00 money order requested as a fee for the disbursement of $2, 997, 500.00. Something inside of me told me to wait a little in fiiling up my money order, (which I have here next to me-), After reading several websites including this one I realized this company is nothing but a scam! I hope that these people get what they deserve some time soon. Just for your information I went ahead into Google Earth, to search for their address: PMB 130, 1 Hewitt Square, East Northport, NY 11731 i went ahead under street view through the satallite just to find out that the businesses around this area was nothing but a restaurant call: JADE PALACE RESTAURANT, 7-ELEVEN, AND A LITTLE PLAZA OF SMALL AVERAGE BUSINESSES. Nothing in this area suggested there was a building that is specifically for distributing grants or lottery awards ect...I would have assume it had to be more fancy than just a rental place in an average neighborhood. People be aware of this particular company and please dont fall for their scams, thank u again and now Im heading to the store to gladly return my blank mone order!

Never pay a "fee" to receive some prize that you supposedly won, especially if you never entered in the first place. Those are always ripoffs.

9-16-14 Received the "SCAM" letter today in the mail ... Chance of winning a total cash award payment of $3, 900, 000 or $10, 000 or $1, 000 or $500 or $250 or $100 or $50 is 1 in 3, 000, 000.00. Chance of winning $1 is 1 in 1 ... and all for only $20 fee and I didn't even enter this contest. WOW

I have been receiving these stupid rip off letters for years - I always send the letter back WITHOUT any $$ and write a note "please take your $20 from my winnings, if fact take $100 & send me the rest
It's sad to know so many people have fallen for this. If you are really a winner, there is NEVER a processing fee.

Addelshaw, Bird & Mitchell
These people send me a document stating that I won $2, 997, 500.00, well I knew right away that his was a scam. I was not going to send them no $20 which they were asking for in order to release this wonderful check LOL. But I knew this was bull.
I do not know why people fall for these scams. First of all there is no email address, no phone, or fax #.
The only address that it had was PO address. The address on the envelope so you can send them the $20,
was Processing Department, PMB 410, Fresh Meadows, NY [protected], what a laugh imagine all the people that
did send the $20.

wow, i cant believe l the complaints. I to had better since not to believe or send any money. Why would you ask for money when you have won so much or any at all. Its best to always follow your gut feeling. Or do like i did and look them up online. I want to know why there hasn't been something done to them already. I pray it happens soon to them.

I have never fallen for one of these, but my heart goes out to people that do. I have often thought of messing with the scam artist my sending them the form with something gross on the inside. Like a little dab of dog ###. Or tell them I have the flu and rubbed my snot all over the paperwork to get revenge for all of the good people they are trying to scam

Maybe everyone should send a copy of their letter they received from this Addleshaw to NY District Attorney (a DA in the area), the FBI, NY Local Police, and any other agency you can think of. I bet there will be some action at the door of this Addleshaw, Bird & Mitchell group or what ever fraud name they are using!

I just received this same item in the mail and looked it up because I don't have money to throw away..I was already fishy about it because I just received one Friday out the mail for $15, 571 and I havnt applied for anything of this nature! So glad I got straight on the internet about these companies because it would've been hell trying to get my $20 back! But I read the small print on the back as well..Thanks to all for sharing your stories..

Received same quack letter trying to take advantage of me...sorry for those who fell for the scam.
1st clue: why wasn't such an "important" letter sent "registered" mail signature required?
2nd clue: No legitimate source would include an option of a "CASH" payment to register YOUR winnings be sent thru the mail...esp. one that would be a respectable "law firm" or "accounting firm...
3rd clue: No phone number or website to contact for more information.
4th clue: If this was the real deal...all processing expenses and taxes would be deducted from true winnings.
Conclusion: Everyone should flood the U.S.P.O. with these complaints/letters because this is clearly MAIL FRAUD and the P.O. KNOWS this is a felony act...using the U.S. government agency as the vehicle to deliver them...yet they don't make an effort to make the recipients at least aware of these potentially harmful scams.

If you read the print on the back of the sheet, it says no purchase required to win, you just have to send it back using your own envelope not theirs!

I received a letter from these people today. The return address given was: PMB 410, 176-25 Union Tpke, Fresh Meadow NY 11366. I'm going to return the letter without the requested $20.00 it is asking for. I always second guess any letter when it doesn't give me a phone and additional verifiable information... $20.00 for $2, 997, 500? The letter is from Addleshaw, Bird & Mitchell and when I looked the company up, you found only negative reviews.

I've not fallen to this type of scam for a lomg, long time because losing the first five dollars without ever hearing back concerning that particular scam reallly helped me realize that if any cost was involed that could be deducted from the winnings . . . however they will further scam you with the fact that they are not the issuer of the funds so you have to pay in advance. BTW, the letter I got from this particular gruop (Addleshaw, Bird & Mitchell) reflex a 1 Hewitt Square, East Northport, NY address on the letter itself and 17625 Union TPKE, Fresh Meadows, NY on the return envelope. That was all I needed to file 13 that. Another thing to remember is whether or not you entered a sweepstakes and the writing on the back more often than not indicates that you really hadn't as yet.
God Bless And forgive them, for they truly know not what they do! Life's design will bring far greater Justice for all than natural law enforcement ever would.

I too, nancy M. received a letter saying I won $2, 997, 500.00 on Dec. 10., 2013. I must say this did not sound right, so I had my husband read it and he said this was a scam. glad I went to google the name and address and found out that many more had received the same letter asking for $20.00. I am quite sure there is a way to catch these thieves. there is always someone out there smarter than the scams. Ido pray that they will be catch very soon. must I say immediately.

This is a case of wording. The document says the total disbursements will be the 2+ million not an individual prize. Additionally, on the back it tells you what the awards really are. All awards have 1:3, 000, 000 chance of being awarded except for the $1 dollar award which has a 1:1 chance. It also clearly states that you can not be eligible for the awards without a purchase, hence the $20 "fee".
This mostly makes this legal because you are pretty much going to get an award of $1.00 for the $20 you spend. A big SCAM.

I have received many of these types of letters, but, I always knew that they are scams. Just a gut feeling. For the ones that aren't aware of these scams, my heart goes out to you. These scammers need to be locked up. They are taking money from people that work hard to make ends meet. The police wont do anything about this problem though and so people need to be educated about this kind of stuff.

I was scammed about a month ago for $25.00 and then started getting more of the same type of letters. Got two today from a, b, m. and realized thre only thing i won was my name on a "suckers" mailing list. Dont fall for this. Im thankful it was only $25.00. They have a good way of wordding their letter, however 3mill pluse seems like it would come more publisised. Think about it!

I just received the letter from Addleshaw, Bird & Mitchell in East Northport, NY. I thought I should check it, because it just seemed to be to good to be true. I would like to have the money, but you don't get anything for free. I am so thankful that I decided to check with you before I did anything stupid. You are a lifesaver. It's not that $20.00 that they asked for was a lot of money, but If more people would check on them, maybe they would go out of business. Is there anything that can be done to get them out of business? Thank you, Joan Sauer

I am an elderly person who fell for this and they got $20 out of me, and now they want an additional $25 for check transfer fee, I'm so glad I decided to google this company and found multiple complaints re: this is a scam...I'm out $20.00 but now have peace of mind that I'm not the only wisher for wealth. I'm ashamed of myself that I did not google this before I sent a check which I now plan on going to my bank to report this illegal activity. to see if I can get reimbursed...if not, I'm sure wiser than last month.

Sad, the internet started out many years ago as a very useful and helpful thing. As all things in life it does not take long for the human society to ruin it, spoil it or try to use people with it. I would think with ISP addresses we could track down these type of scams and prosecute them to the maximum the law allows. As it was stated they seem to after the elderly who are already on a fixed income. What type of a rotten human being can do this and live with themselves? It does not do any good to get angry, although I'm rather ticked off. The best we can do is be careful and not fall into these traps / scams! Maybe, just maybe the government will wise up and put some real effort into stopping this type of thing, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting. Hang in there people!

i also got letter today from Addleshaw, Bird&Mitchel telling me I had won $2, 997, 500.00 cash award by A.B.M. they wanted me to hurry and send them $20.00 for folio release . I found this page of complaints when I yahoo, d the company. there are aprox. 14 web pages full of nothing but complaints about this herd. would sure like to meet mr. Ethan James and introduce him to some southern hospitality for his efforts. I really like the photos of the company that are already posted.there is a special place in hell for folks like this. someone should send them there to collect their just rewards.

My grandparents have received several of these letters. Thank goodness they knew not to send any money. I looked up the "Processing Department" address of PMB 540, 12528 Queens Blvd, Kew Gardens, NY 11415 and found that this is a UPS Store. Where someone has a PMB ( private mail box) # 540. So definitely not a processing center of any kind, just straight up scam.
