Insurance broker
I made an online inquiry to get a quote for life insurance through Accuquote. Of course, they required phone number and email with a promise to contact me with a quote.
An agent did phone me and we spoke about my options. I told her I would get back when I made a decision, as I was shopping around for options.
I began receiving a call per day from other Accuquote agents who addressed my case as if I had never spoken with Accuquote before. An agent rattled off incorrect information about my medical history. I never gave anyone permission to release my personal medical history, and the info the agent was sharing was FAR from accurate, stating that I had some serious medical issues going on (which I don't).
The calls kept coming. I informed them that I had selected an insurance and no longer needed the services of Accuquote.
Then Accuquote agents escalated the phone calls. For the past month I have received 3 to 7 phone calls PER DAY from Accuquote.
Next I began getting phone calls and emails from acquaintances and relatives that Accuquote agents had hunted down (maybe through Facebook and Google searches?). Accuquote agents had somehow sought out my colleagues' and relatives' personal and/or work phone numbers, phoned them, and urged them to pressure me into a purchase.
I am appalled at these Accuquote agents' unscrupulous tactics and harassment in an effort to pressure a sale. I wouldn't put it passed them to use the incorrect medical information to try to extort me to buy a policy. It has been a LONG time since I've encountered such unethical behavior in a business.
Misled by agent
Replied to radio ad to get a quote on term life insurance. Agent said I would get a good rate based upon my history. Did the medical exam and then waited and waited. Had ot do many follow-up calls and e-maisl to finally after over 5 months being told they would not provide me a quote as my history of angioplasty made me uninsurable. Insuarance agrent I talked with should have known this and not wasted my time. While this occurred I turned 56 and that also puts me in a higher bracket. The misleading statements by Accuquote now will result in a higher premium due to my age when I get a quote form a reputable insurance agent. Do not trust what they tell you on the phone!

Website lie
The website (http://www.accuquotelife.com/about.cfm) says "AccuQuote consistently delivers the best values in life insurance by offering a choice of hundreds of life insurance products through nearly 140 top-rated life insurance carriers". I worked at Accuquote and this is not true. We worked with a dozen or so carriers, period.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Called my unlisted home phone that is on "do not call"

We are sorry if we caused any inconvenience. However, please realize that we don't "cold call" anyone. We only contact people upon them requesting a life insurance quote from us. Upon receiving a quote from us, our website clearly states that we will contact you to follow up with you. According to the do not call rules, if a consumer initiates a business transaction with a company (such as receiving a quote) the company has up to 90 days to contact that person by phone.
Hi Lynns - We do not say that we work with 140 top-rated life insurance carriers. We say dozens. I am the public relations manager at AccuQuote and handle all of the copywriting. Not sure where you got this idea from?
