When I was unable to make my payment to ABC Financial for my gym membership at Fitness Edge, I called to cancel due to financial hardship. They instructed me to call ABC Financial to cancel my membership. Which I did and was told that I would need to pay my past due amount and that the membership takes 30 days to cancel and it must be in writing and that I would be responsible for the past due amount and the next month ahead. At that time, I was unable to pay both months, so sent my cancellation letter along with a check in the past due amount. I had many conversations with representatives at ABC Financial about my financial hardship and that even though it was a mere $68.50, times are tough and I cannot pay it right now. ABC took it upon themselves to NOT cancel my membership and continued to charge me $68.50/month. In my opinion, that is ROBBERY!

A contract is a contract. Stick to it or pay the penalties. If anyone and everyone could violate a contract well than maybee your bank can say hmm were gonna sell your house because we have no money and cant afford to cary your loan anymore. Oh but wait that cant happen because you have a mortgage or in other words a contract. Man up and stop using the military as a scape goat because you signed a contract to join that too. Anyone who served in the military hates idiots like you making excuses. If your in such hardship how are you on the internet. Good luck fighting the largest collection company in the fitness indusrty POSER.
My girlfriend and I are both in college and signed up for a memebership at anytime fitness. We both knew we were going to transfer to a different college during spring semester. We looked at the anytime website and it said they were putting in a gym soon at the city we were moving too. BUT when the time came anytime backed out and we needed to cancel. SO BIG BAD WORKING MAN what would you do when they ABC tried to charge us for two extra months of membership we cant use and a 75 dollar cancellation fee. I said BS and then was forced to pay. Airbone Rangers are bad [censored] by the way.
I paid termination fee, and I pay my bills, why do you think I have a high credit score over 800, ABC Financial and Golds Gym are the BIGGEST SCAM and this economy they are hurting to keep customers, but not this customer... Keep billing me until you run out of stamps or money, I am on total disability, thanks to US Army that didnt have money for airborne rangers... I pay my bills and have NO DEBT... I was a working man, go back to the gym, and worj for $6.00 an hour or min wage since working at the gym allows member discounts to lift weights, gruntttttt, or GUIDO or fudge packer, whatever name makes you feel better than other people becuz your an honorable working man bashing people from behind a computer... are you unemployed or JEALOUS, guido - 80 definitions - A sad pathetic excuse for a male;
You signed the agreement containing all of this info. Don't blame the billing company for YOUR "financial hardship". People used to walk into the gym I worked at holding a $5 starbucks claiming that they had a financial hardship. Riiiiiight. Good one. You should take up stand up comedy. Pay your bill. You signed up for a cell phone plan for a two year agreement. Did you call them and cancel when you had this "hardship" too? Probably not, and they have a $175 early termination fee. Take responsibility for your actions. When it says 12 month agreement, it's a 12 month agreement. Not 3 or 4 or how ever many you feel like paying. Go ahead and call your auto loan rep and ask him if you can get out of your car payments because of your "financial hardship".
I totally agree this company is just amazing. I joined a local health club and didn't realize I'd need an attorney to check all the fine print in this contract. I have been trying to cancel my membership for 3 months now. It looks like I will save myself a lot of grief to just cancel my bank card since I have no intention of using this health club again. I have called ABC (4 times ) and gotten several different ways that will supposedly cancel my membership. I've faxed letters, talked to people at the local health club, emailed them, you name it. It is easier to get a divorce than cancel this contract. I can't believe companies like this think customers will want to do business with them again once they discover how they operate. I feel sorry for the local health clubs because I have no problems with the local club other than the fact they use ABC Financial for their contract management. I should have known their would be problems when the bank draft shows up as ABC Fitness Express. When you google that, no business shows up just complaints. I had to call the bank and get the phone number which then links to ABC Financial. If you go to ABC Financial"s web page there is no way to contact anyone. That was danger sign #2. Another thing that surprises me is that ABC Financial has a "satisfactory" rating on the Little Rock BBB web pg. I don't know what it takes to warrant an "unsatisfactory" rating. I suppose contract companies like these are 1 more advantage to buying exercise equipment to use at home and forget the local health clubs.
I completely agree with you...ABC Financial is the most ridiculous company I have ever worked with. They are telling me that because I put my account on hold for medical reasons last year that I cant cancel my membership for another year. I asked why and they told me because when I freeze my account it extends my contract so I said hmm ok well Ill check my contract and sure enough it is not written in there at all. They actually laughed at me when I said that because they said I should assume thats what a freeze was, I said umm excuse me this is a CONTRACT not a piece of paper based on assumptions. They are still fighting me. I thought my membership was cancelled last month because I signed a membership cancellation and then i had to call which I did and they are saying I didnt call. I have never had so many problems. They take money out of my account without my permission all the time and its illegal. Another thing...when I said I WAS cancelling they said I need a doctors note so I said well what about the one my doctor sent you last year saying I could not work out for 8 months. They actually told me that I have to have a permanent disablility...well thats odd because the CONTRACT states that I have to have a doctors note that states if I cant work out for 3 months or longer than I can cancel. However...Im being told that I cant. Im still in the process of fighting this and I will fight it until this ends right. One last thing...I do admit to having spelling errors, especially typing however my contract is terrible. It has at LEAST 6 spelling errors and several more grammar. I mean this is supposed to be a business right? They are taking peoples money that they dont deserve...I think they should at least use it to get spell check. =)
