AARP Services worse now then when I started

I have always felt that aarp served my interests in a very good fashion. I am 57 years old and have worked very hard to keep a good credit score.
Low and behold, aarp offered credit protection, and I signed up for it.
When I started with trusted id in april 2014 my credit score (Equifax) was 817. I never missed a payment nor did I take out any loans or open any credit cards.in may it dropped to 801.in june it dropped to 798 and in july it dropped to
791. I have contacted trusted id and been put on hold for extended periods then dropped, called back and the same thing happens. When I do talk to someone they are giving me a canned response (You could tell they were reading it from a screen) that I have proved wrong over and over again.
For my score to drop 26 points in three months is unacceptable. I thought you were going to help me keep it up? It takes years to bring ones credit score up to the level that mine was until I had you help me.
I am very unhappy, dismayed and upset, this is a rip off of epic proportions. No one seems willing to try to help, you have really messed up my credit and really do not give a darn. Barry heider

Your membership in Trusted ID is not a factor in your credit score. Late payments, ratio of credit card use to limits, length of credit history are the main factors. Trusted ID will prevent damage to your score caused by somebody pretending to be you, charging up big bills then not paying.

AARP Services no help in airline refund due to weather

AARP-Expedia Travel abandons me and takes my money! We bought round trip tickets Charlotte-Kalamazoo for New Years Eve, 2013. To make a long story short, we never flew the the leg from Chicago to Kalamazoo due to weather cancellations. I am trying to get a refund on that portion of the trip. Forget that American cost me an extra $500 in hotel fees due to all of their cancellations. Aarp Expedia travel directs me to American Airlines for ticket refund due to weather cancellations: AA directs me to AARP-Expedia. AARP-Expedia wanted to know how many times I had tried to contact AA directly or on the internet, as if that should make any difference. I had to ask for a supervisor to get any response to my request for assistance. I had previously been on the phone with Aarp Expedia for 2 hours. Aarp Expedia clearly did not want to help, almost to the point of refusing to do so. I had to argue and then ask for a manager to get any help. I should have just given them the money with no expectations of actually traveling and no expectations of service. AA's refund website replied that my refund request could not be processes because of 'an error with their server', but they assured me the error had been logged and apologized for any inconvenience. Caught between AARP-Expedia and AA, I have no representation from AARP-Expedia. More than 3 hours on the phone and I have been hung up on twice. The reps are not allowed to call back so I have to start the process all over again. What crooks. AARP should fire Expedia. I'll be surprised to get any follow up. Warning my family and friends and going to Twitter and is probably the best I can do. If ARP-Expedia can't do better than this, they should refund all or part of my airline tickets. Yeah, sure.

AARP Services bad insurance information

I called today to find out about my coverage while I am going abroad. I was told that I have no coverage! So I called another company to get emergency coverage. I then called AARP back to find out about canceling my insurance while I am away, and now they saw I am covered. But in the mean time, I have bought additional insurance! Now I am on hold, again for a long time, with your rep, Daniela Fuentes, who is researching what coverage I have. And she has categorically denied that you will pay me back for the additional insurance that I have ordered. VERY BAD SERVICE!

How AARP caused my checking Account to be overdrawn and their refusal to acknowledge their mistake.

As a Veteran that depends on my Disability and my VA Pension, AARP will not respond only stonewall. Plus they will not refund any money that is owed immediately.

But as I was told it will take to billing cycles = to 60 days to refund $32.00. Nor refund the overdraft fees ($175.00) that was created by their error. Do business with AARP at your own risk.

Per my conversations with: Customer Service Rep (Alisa), Spvr. (Patty Kidd) and Jennifer Dishman on 06-08-2017. Please see the attached Bank Statement regarding the Unauthorized Debit of $16.00 from my Checking Account for the AARP membership. Your company (AARP) took an additional ($16.00) for the membership and this caused my account to be severely overdrawn in the amount (211.52). I am a Disabled Veteran living on a fixed monthly income, my Wife is unemployed and this is our only source of income. This mistake was AARP and not mines, but none of the above referenced employees from AARP was willing to admit only that they could see the additional amount of ($16.00) totally $32.00 that was taken. Instead they tried to say it was my mistake and I would receive my requested refund in 2 billing cycles per (Patty Kidd). I was told to send this fax to you so I and this matter can be resolve. Because this is AARP MISTAKE and not mine. Im requesting that upon the receipt of this FAX that, (1) AARP Cancel the membership. (2) Refund my entire ($32.00). (3) Refund the ($175.00) Overdraft Charges. (4) Provide me with an E-Mail or Fax stating that I did not authorize AARP to debit the extra $16.00 which caused my account to be overdrawn. Thank You for your immediate attention to this Unauthorized Debit.

Per Danielle Davis in the CEO office she advised all she could do was verify the fax number and it will be 3 days to expect a reply to my fax.

THIS IS HOW AARP TREATS PEOPLE. AARP IS ONLY INTERESTED IN MONEY AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE WHEN AARP MAKES A MISTAKE.

I had the same problem with AARP. I noticed that I had a $16 debit to my checking account for AARP. I am only 44 and have never even considered signing up for AARP. Some how AARP got my banking information and posted a debit to my account. I called today to get the the $16 removed from my account. They made me verify my address, phone number, and birth date. They had all of my personal information in their system...how?

I was told that it would take 2 billing cycles for the credit to post. I am not concerned about $16. I am concerned that AARP got all of my personal information without my knowledge or authorization. In my opinion this is fraud.

The fact that AARP will not refund charges that were not authorized immediately tells you a lot about the ethics of the company. I would strongly suggest that everyone beware of doing any business with AARP.

Well, thanks for lettting us know. I hate this happened to you. That's not fair.
I was charged twice by allstate last fall after they refused to credit me for a bill that I paid in cash! Wow, how corrupt some of these insurance companies are.

I talked to a woman in the Tunnel Road office in East Asheville and told her that I had already paid the bill in October, but she just got hostile and rude towards me and started yelling at me instead of crediting me the $35 they owed me!
It's good these websites are in operation though, for they prevent others from using these companies for business & therefore cut down on their profits, which they deserve!
they need to treat their customers with respect & integrity! Call the Insurance Commissioner on these people LeoP88. It cannot hurt.

The more they are complained about to the ins. commissioner, the less likely they are to get away with duping people and ripping them off.
Good luck to ya.
I'm now hunting for new insurance myself. Later for these ripoff companies!
you're not in good hands with allstate! you're in bad hands! :(

AARP Services repayment from aarp

I attended your Convention in Atlanta, GA- 2013. There was a mix up with my church, Brentwood Baptist Church, to go on line and register for the convention and our registration fee would be free. Arriving at the center, we found we were not registered. I paid and was told to and call AARP for reimbursement for my $25. I call twice and was told, check in the mail. I call today and was told since I paid cash, cannot locate my payment. Contact me at [protected]. I know you know whether I paid or not. beverly.[protected]@va.gov

How Dare you use government email to try to reclaim money from a trip you took from some religious cult? The Inspector General and FBI need to investigate you and your misuse of taxpayers time and money. Typical christian behavior stealing from the honest hard working taxpayer to conduct personal business. Most people work for the government because they can't function in the real world and need to steal from the working man for them to live. Jesus effin Christ

AARP Services wrongful termination

I have been with the SCSEP for about one year, when I was told to come to the office for a "re-certification". I had a re-certification meeting on March 6th 2013 and provided all the papers I was asked for. The next day I had a phone call asking me for my Social Security benefits letter…I guess they forgot to copy that…No problem, I went and faxed it to the office, anxiously waiting for my next assignment, since I was put on unpaid leave until this re-certification was complete…
Finally, twenty days later, I started work at my new host agency, grateful to be on payroll again. I had worked only 3 days, when, again, I was pulled off the job and was forced into an unpaid leave of absence, unjustly, for a paper that has been in my file since March 7th 2013, I think this is abuse of power!
It was like an avalanche of e-mails and phone calls asking me to provide that paper again, or else…(It’s always: Do this, do that, or else!) No respect whatsoever, "they" demean you, order you and what not..
"They" wanted me to go to the S.S Office to get that exact same paper...(One of the managers even lied to me saying that the award letter from the S.S Office contained some codes or other, and that's why it was needed)
I went the S.S website and checked:..."Award letter", "Benefits letter", "Proof of income letter" were all one and the same... I e-mailed this information to the Management of SCSEP to no avail...
I felt harassed and bullied…

AARP Services false add

AARP advertising for Allstate roadside at 50% off first year. Did online sign up to be charged $61.00 instead of the advertised $35.50. Called both AARP and Allstate, they blame each other for problem. But Allstate will not honor the AARP add stating they never offered any such discount. AARP just kept transferring me and said they have no idea why they won't honor the add

AARP Services false advertising and bait and switch

I was recently booking a cruise and on their web page it had a AARP special price of $679. It showed a "GTY" cabin available. When I selected this cabin type, it continued on like a normal booking would, and when it got time to pay, the per person cabin rate had jumped to $949 per person. After talking to someone at Expedia, then her supervisor, they put the blame on Norwegian because Norwegian would not add another room at that rate. This was Expedia's site, and they just said oh they sold out of the cabins at that rate. The normal thing to see on a site when a rate is sold out is a message saying the rate is no longer available, and don't continue on with the reservation. They did nothing, AARP did nothing other than send a request to Expedia to explain their reasoning to me, which they did. But in my opinion this is fraud and bait and switch from Expedia and AARP apparently condones the practice without regard to their members. Just beware if you purchase from them to make sure the price you believe to be valid is the price they are really charging you.

AARP Services was terminated from program

when i got with this program, i thought i was going to be able to get help going back to work, all I got was mislead, and lies. mrs Chappmen whom is the head of this program, would never be in the office to help, and when she was there she would put paper over her office door so that no one could see her, and she would always talk down on you. she would not help the black women, and when she would tell you that a trainning class would be starting, on a certain date. she would tell me that it was not something that she felt was not for me. so I told her that i wss dissapointed with the way she was running the program, so she and Mrs Elain Swift would send me to places that wass to far for me to go. I would go any way to see if it was something that I might want to do. but i would let them know that it was to far and could find me something closer. I was with the Houston read commision for a while. and one day I was out and one of the other women had filled out my time sheet. and sent it in, so mrs chappmen called the read commision looking for me but I wass out that day, when I went in om monday the girls told me that mrs chappman said that i was not getting paid for working there because she did not send me there, and i was no longer in the program because i faulsified hours. she is a evil and mean lady. and she has no respect for the humen race. she knew that all mt time sheets was sent to the place I Doris Larry couldnt understand what she was talking about please do something so other seniors wont havt to go through this. right now I have no income, and no where to turn for help. t

AARP Services canceled travel package due to medical emergency

I contend that any no-refund "policy" made by private enterprise is unlawful when the services paid for are not rendered.

I booked a flight-hotel-car rental this year [Feb 29-March 5, 2012] by way of AARP's Expedia.com service to retiree's. A few days before leaving I saw a physician to examine a cyst that was problematic in terms of pain and difficulty putting my shoe on due to size of cyst on top of foot. The first physician would not treat the cyst surgically, so I found another physician who would surgically drain the cyst. This medical issue forced me to cancel the flight-hotel-car package the day before due to leave. I was unable to make the trip therefore I canceled it a day prior, then and had surgery to remove the cyst (drain it).

I did not make the trip, flight + Car + hotel.

Now Expedia.Com says they will refund $198.65, issue a credit -$50.00 surcharge fee for an airline flight (that I do not need)...

Traveler: Dr. Bill Misner
Airline Ticket No.:[protected]
Expedia Itin No.: [protected]

AARP Travel Center...$428.18 [Canceled]
Frontier [protected] $256.80 [Canceled]
------------------------
Charges...$684.98
Credit...$198.65
Total...$486.33 (unrendered service fee due Bill Misner)

Under the above circumstances, a medical issue, I contend that I am due full refund of $486.33.

Traveler: Dr. Bill Misner
Airline Ticket No.:[protected]
Expedia Itin No.: [protected]

It seems to me the customer who booked these services, that the AARP agency Expedia.com should consider a medical issue ground to make a full refund. I will not make another AARP-Expedia.com trip nor will I endorse use of this so-called service to seniors. I have filed a formal complaint to the Aviation Consumer Protection Division (DOT ACPD) U.S. Department of Transportation while also forwarding this report for your being involved if hopefully so deemed an injustice.

Respectfully,

Bill Misner

AARP Services membership

After being annoyed for the past three years to renew my membership after a three year renewal, I renewed reluctantly for another five years. I received no confirmation although I was encouraged to update my online information. After checking my membership status the following day, I noted no change in my membership dues status scheduled to expire in August. It was only March. I checked my online banking which verified a payment to AARP. I called AARP. They have no record of my payment. They apologized for my frustration but offered no resolution or further concern. It is my problem to solve. Why do I need AARP?

Every year I get renew notices when I am always paid up 4 years in advance. How many people do they get duplicate paymens from in this way. Unless you keep great records one could easily get mixed up and pay again. Also, their perks to join are photographed and labeled as one thing but when received the item is always a disapponting, too small, unusable or not as pictured

I sent this letter to AARP in May and have not recieved a response. The wording of the letter is below.

Membership Services,

I am very upset and extremely angry at your ineptness in handling my application request for membership in AARP. I had reservations about renewing my membership, now; I regret having mailed out the application. If there was a way to rescind my membership and AARP return the money to me I would welcome the opportunity.
My wife sent the application that I filled out with a check which included both names as members. Mail was waiting for me when I came home from work Monday from AARP announcing “WELCOME your AARP membership card is inside.” When I looked at the contents inside there were two membership cards but they were not for my wife and I. The cards also indicated having been a member since 1994, which is not true either.
The names on both the cards were for people I knew and loved but both are deceased. One name was my father and the other person was my father’s friend of 30 years. I am angry about that and feel very sad that AARP membership services have made such a blatant error. Since the signature name on the check was my wife Maryanne.
How in the world could AARP membership services have made such an egregious mistake? Obviously, you do not actually look at or read the content of your membership applications, if you did take the time to read the application this mistake would never have happened and this letter would not have to be written.
I thought AARP was going to be an advocate for me and my wife in our later years, boy was I wrong. If AARP can’t do a simple thing like process a membership application correctly how can I trust that AARP will actually be able to decipher more complex important issues and to make good decisions for me and other members that will rely on AARP for guidance. This eye opening disappointment and very disheartening experience has shaken my belief and trust in the AARP organization.
Now AARP needs to make this right ASAP by; sending my wife and me an apology for causing us so much embarrassment. You unnecessarily raised our blood pressure when the anger kicked in as we looked at the total mix-up on membership cards. Then you must replace the cards you sent with ones that have the correct information for both my wife and me. I have enclosed a copy of a voided check so you can get the names right this time.

Unhappy in Philly,

Dan and Maryanne Campbell

Then to add insult to injury we recieve a notice from AARP thanking us for renewing membership along with a new membership card for Julia Jeinnings. This whole episode is appauling.

Since AARP takes positions contrary to what really benefits seniors, I chose not to renew my membership. I kept getting letters pleading for my renewal. In June, Mr. Rand who heads the organization membership wrote that this was my FINAL NOTICE and he would not be able to write me again. Of course, the letters under his signature continued, so he was simply lying. The organization has no credibility, and actually its major source of income is payments from the insurance companies it promotes. There are better options out there to watch out for seniors and to get the type of discounts that AARP offers.

AARP has turned into a money-making machine with no regard for the welfare of older Americans! Now there is an alternative. Check out AMAC, a MUCH better company that actually looks out for us!

AARP Services - misrepresented

Apparently AARP has been sending this crappy little good for nothing bag for a long time (looks like the complaints started in 2009 on here). The bag in the photo shows a bag with 3 (possibly 4) zippered pockets and a large AARP logo on the bottom pocket. I renewed my membership only to receive an insulated miniature bag that as others have said, isn't good...

AARP Services super horrible

My daughter and son-in-law were really treated horribly at RV City in Huachuca City, AZ. They live in their RV and have for 3 years. They purchased a new RV at this RV dealership/service business called RV City. They also purchased an AC, dome satellite, and hundreds on service, parts, and accessories over the past. At least 75, 000 +. There last experience was their last experience! These people made them wait 2 months to replace their blackwater tank. Carriage agreed to cover the costs. After my daughter and her husband had to live (full time) in their RV for 2 months, without a toilet, using the park's public toilet down the street, they could just not do it anymore. They had to call RV City over and over and heard excuse after excuse week after week, for 2 months. What occurred after that was extremely deceptive on RV City's part. She confirmed with Carriage that the repair was covered. Carriage confirmed with RV City that the repairs were covered. Finally, RV City repaired the blackwater tank. Took them less than a day. When my daughter and her husband went to get the RV, they were told by the service manager and the owner that they had to pay RV City $2, 400 on the spot or they could not get their home. RV City told them that they did not want to wait to be paid by Carriage therefore my daughter and husband would have to pay the bloated, inflated, invoice immediately. So... a blackwater tank that cost $160.00 was turned into a $2, 400. charge. Of course my kids did not have that kind of money. My daughter asked if she could at least retrieve her medication, clothes, and some food from RV. She was told no! Luckily I was visiting nearby. My daughter was horrified. My husband and I went down to pay the outrageous invoice and at first RV City denied to take our charge card. They demanded CASH! Who carries $2, 400.00 in cash, on a Saturday? Well the Cochise County Sheriffs were called and RV City had to take our charge card. My daughter and husband will be trying to pay us off for at least a couple of years. A reputable dealer would have dealt directly with the manufacturer for repairs that were confirmed to be covered. A reputable dealer would not have deceived a loyal customer about their plans to charge the customer directly for covered costs. And to leave them without a place to live, eat, etc. until this ridiculous amount was paid, was inexcusable. Don't be taken advantage of by RV City! If you walk on the lot, you WILL be taken advantage of.

AARP Services unauthorized debits to your account

Today I noticed a $16 debit to my checking account for AARP. I called the number that was listed on my online checking account for AARP. The female that answered the phone questioned me to verify my name, address, and date of birth. They had all this information plus my bank account numbers in their system…how? I have never done any transactions with AARP, I am only 44 and it is my understanding AARP has an age requirement of 50.

The female did some checking, place me on hold for quite a while and said a credit would be issued to my account within 2 months. The $16 is not the issue that I am concerned about, I am concerned that they have my checking account information, address, and date of birth in their systems without my consent. In my opinion this is fraud, they obviously obtained my personal information via an unethical means. So AARP, steals your personal information, debits your account and then keeps your CASH for 2 months before they will consider giving it back to you. That is if they will give it back to you…

AARP Services money applied to wrong membrship

I started calling aarp roadside asst. Since 8/8/11 in reference to my renewal payment of $45. Oo. The bank cashed the check on 8/8/11. I then received another bill from them... A couple of days later. I called and stated that the check had been cashed by them motor club inc. (. Which they told me they changed their name to). I have called 8/10, 8/11, 8/13, 8/16/and 8/18/2011 trying to get the problem resolved. Talk with many people, melissa, charlotte, pattie, charles, and three person claiming to be supervisors.. Alex, jack and today jill. All the calls being placed to [protected] (other numbers with the same results). I've made so many call to that number and others to be told I was in india... I would then ask to speak to someone in the usa. Thru theses call I found out that they had applied my renewal payment to another members account. Customer service also gave me several bogus fax numbers...[protected], [protected], [protected], so I could fax a copy of the front and back of the cashed check. I'm at my wits end... All I want is them to apply my payment to the correct person.. I do know after this aarp roadside asst by allstate can forget it! I will never refer them to anyone! [protected]@cast.net

Called weeks before renewal to ask for a bill and to let them know not to auto charge my credit card. No bill came so I emailed thru their web page three days before renewal asking for a bill and requesting my credit card not be billed. Today I checked my credit card and it has the auto charge by AARP. Called customer service and asked for it to be reversed. Let the clerk know of my dissatisfaction with their lack of service. If you deal with this company be prepared to follow up and don't expect quality service. Been a member for many years and never called for help. If their roadside assistance is as bad as their customer service, you might be in trouble.

I wish I had read this before I applied to the road service. I have made many calls to customer service only to find out that my check was cashed and I don't have an account. What! I sent in the money and the form that came in the mail. I was told that maybe I misspelled my own name, did I mention my name was printed on the form. Finally I was told to send another check and I would get the roadside service. ok people, I know were older now but do they think were stupid too. Don't send in your money, burn it instead u will get better results. $ 45.00 GONE!

AARP Services - false advertising

If anyone rerceives an "invitation to membership" with instructions to receive a "free travel bag", don't believe it. This bag is only 5"x 3" x 2", large enough to take a tube of lipstick, maybe a toothbrush, and a small tube of toothpaste. It is not a travel bag. It is a"pencil" bag-a little small for my traveling needs. I know baggage is expensive on air...

AARP Services fraudulent practices

My mother took out a policy with NY LIfe throuigh her AARP membership in late 1990's. She decded to switch because her previous insurer kept forgetting to process her payments and she was cancelled a cvouple fimtes when they found her checkes sititng in their drawer (she paid in person!)
When she died in Dec 2001, my sister filed her death claim through the insurance compeny. She received a check for a little over $300 saying thaty were returning the premiums she had paid because she had died of a "preexisting medical condition" and had they known about it, they would never have issued the policy!
I took over and informed them that since they advertise "No medical questions" and you "cannot be refused" that if they had medical concerns about her health it was THEIR responsibility to determine that when they issued the policy.
BY the way, she died of an septic infection foilliwing emergency surgery because of a hiatal herni. So her "pre-existing condition" was the fact that she was orn with a hiatal hernia!
I threatetned a fraud charge and followed through filing a fradulent advertising charge with the NYS Attorney General and surprisingly a couple of weeks later, we received the check for the full amount.
I then sent a letter to AARP requesting them to look into the practices of the companies they tout and sell for but received no answer. Later learned that this is a BIG money maker for AARP so they don't really give a damn if their members and especially their famlies are getting screwed.
My biggest concern is taht this association which claims to be fighting for the rights of retired person, is actually maing money off of a fraud that gives seniors the reassurance that they are leaving something for their famileis to lessen the burden of a funeral, etc and then after the person dies, these companies refuse the claim.
Just another examnple of the old adage that insurance companies refuse EVERY claim hoping that people won't fight back. If you do, you can get what you're owed!

They also sell riders to existing contracts that have beneficieries and conveniently change it to estate . Try to tell you you have to submit both claims or loose all of the claim you are beneficiery to.

AARP Services aarp's support for cutting into medicare & social security

I have been with AARP now for 3 years now and wanted to let AARP and its consumers know that AARP is Lobbying in Washington DC to let the Politicians know that they "UNDERSTOOD" about changes having to be made to Medicare & Social Security. Well let me and my husband tell you now AARP! We are both on medicare and my husband is disabled and having to depend on his SSDI and Medicare as well and the problem is NOT SOCIAL SECURITY or MEDICARE and V.A COMP as well for that matter. The problem is in the Government dipping into Social Security and its programs and anything having to do with senior citizens drawing hard earned retirement or disabilities to pay for the Governments over spending and unnecessary expenditures in over seas operations and high paying income jobs for our representatives in the Government. The U.S can spend big money on helping other countries for their problems but always end up cutting into our retirement that actually supports Folks like you at AARP! Now, because of this with AARP supporting its cause in Washington, See if you will be able to get any more monies out of me and my husband from whence the money came from out of our disability and medicare retirements ie; SSDI and SS. See if AARP can survive on nothing since they want us to live on nothing. You can support the politicians in Washington but rest assured AARP, your company will not get anymore money or support from either me or my husband since you believe in cutting into medicare and Social Security. ...GOOD LUCK AARP. We sure do hope that the rest of the retirement community and seniors can take this letter of support and Stop Supporting AARP!

Darned right! I tore-up my AARP card & mailed it back. What a fraud.

Better yet, join American Seniors at: http://www.americanseniors.org/. They have better serivces, LISTEN to their members, and don't obscure their intentions. Or, you might want to try Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) at http://www.amac.us. Either is light-years ahead of the liberal AARP.

I just got off the phone with AARP MedicareRX Plans UnitedHelthcare What a bunch of liars ad thieves They were trying to charge my 82 year old mother $1, 157.80 stating she had $ due from 2012. Well when I spoke to Marcus (pretending to be my mother since even though she has alzheimers and cant remember anything) After several moment of I don't think so and oh I have proof. It turns out she owes $307.80. I must say wow. That is quite the difference. I am curious does AARP and United Health care think that anyone who is elderly is #1 stupid or #2 has no one? Allow me to tell you they do. I am very unimpressed with AARP, they seem much more interested with $$$$ than they do with their clients. So not impressed. That would be wrong with some one that you are now trying to buy your trying to buy their product. I believed in this company for so long now I am seeing them for what they have turned out to be. WOW who is running this company now? They don't care about any one or anything but their bottom line.

Re: gloria e. Thompson vs. Secure horizons
Appeal number: 1-[protected]

Gentlemen
This is a follow up to the letter you sent to me dated april 4, 2010 (Copy attached). Please advise the status of your efforts.
My appeal is based upon the claim by my wife’s medical provider that they have sent in multiple copies of three claims with only one having been paid. The insurer claims that the second two were duplicates, were sent to the wrong address, etc. The latter cannot be true as they received and paid the first claim which was sent to the same address. I have sent in the claim to be sure it was sent to the right address. The insurer never acknowledged receiving the claim from me and commented that they do not accept claims from policy holders! I will never understand the rationale behind this reasoning.
The provider has referred their debt to a collection agency. The collection agency has reported my wife to three credit bureaus. The collection agency now threatens to sue us for the amount due. All this has been revealed to secure horizons and the do not care.
What worth is an insurance policy that does not pay valid claims? In total frustration I have offered to pay the amount due with the belief that I will not be reimbursed as the insurer has already stated that they do not accept claims from policy holders. If I pay the claim, it appears that I will bear the cost in spite of having insurance that is supposed to respond.
Out of total frustration I have sought help from the texas dept. Of insurance which has responded that they have no jurisdiction. Where can I go for help?
My wife and I are retired and living on a fixed income. Paying this claim out of our pocket would present a financial hardship. We are also concerned that secure horizons will not pay future claims. If something serious happens to my wife or i, it appears unlikely that our insurer will respond based upon their actions on this claim. We are very worried. The next open enrollment period for medicare is oct., 2011. We are counting the days. Any insurer would be better than secure horizons.
I will be happy to send you copies of the multitude of documents I have sent to secure horizons (Note: many of which have been ignored), the providers collection agency and to the provider.
Secure horizons is incompetent and arrogant. I can’t fight them any longer. Please help!

Sincerely,

John w. Thompson

AARP Services overcharging

They really treat their customers very bad. I had enrolled in the AARP Part D Plan in the enrollment period December 2005, Humana was alot cheaper at that time, so in the same month I enrolled in Humana. Now it is 2011, AARP Pard D was cheaper so I enrolled with them. They are now charging me for that enrollement in 2005 when I was with Humana and paid them. Since I have to be enrolled in a part D program, they are trying to make me pay for that. I called them and spoke to Kayle, she spoke down to me and treated me very bad and did not even care about the explanation or that I had proff of being with Humana and paid them for my Part D. Stay away from AARP, they don't care about you! It is all about getting your money. And since you are made to be in a Part D program, they do not care about your problems. Pay extra and go somewhere else.
