After an accident, A1 was the first to appear at the crash scene to help. I spoke to my insurer who confirmed that A1 can tow my car for repairs to the panelbeater. But that is not what happened. They towed my car to their own yard. It is now two days after the crash and my car has still not been delivered to the panelbeater! To make things worse, someone stole all the cash in my wallet which I forgot in the car. I still plan to contact them about the theft issue, but it seems they can't manage or administrate themselves. Now the insurance wants to know who is going to pay for the tow of the car from A1's premesis to the panelbeater! It won't be me!

That's how they operate, had the same problem (Crooks). Was told R450 for towing and asked R9300 to release the car

Hi,

I have had the same situation in this regard. A man also called my insurer and promised me that they will cover the towing costs. Now my insurance company does not cover the towing and 'm responsible to pay R9690 to release my car from their yard.

I'm not sure if I'm currently going to be sitting in the same situation because I have been in a accident last week Tuesday and the guy said the Tuesday that it was to late for them to tow the car to the place we wanted it to go but they will tow it tomorrow morning as there were no talking of any other charges the following day we phoned them and they said the car will go no where until the payment is made.

I also went through every little thing with the guy to make sure all is there... I WILL BE LOSING IT IF SOMETHING ISN'T THERE BECAUSE ON THE PAPER HE WROTE WICH I HAVE NOT SIGNED SAID THERE IS NO CAR BATTERY, NO SPARE TYRE WICH I HAVE ALL INDICATED TO HIM THAT IT WAS THERE...

IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS THE PHOTO OF THE MAN WHOM HELPED ME...

I was involved in a car accident on 9 December 2015 in Florida and A1 Assist were the first to appear on the scene. I was with my two kids, thank God none of us were injured. A guy by the name of Tobie of A1 Assist came to me and asked me which insurance company I was using. When I gave him the details, he then used his phone to call my insurance company and gave the phone to me to speak to a guy by the name of Gerard of Old Mutual Iwyze. This Gerard guy asked a few security questions and I asked him if I should allow these guys to take my car, he agreed and said that he will give them an authorization number to take my car and I should relax as everything is going to be well taken care of. When I called my insurance company to follow up on my claim, they said to me they have not received anything from A1 Assist and that the authorization number format is not theirs. I immediately called A1 Assist and asked them what had happened, I even went there and they said to me that what happens on the field is none of their concern and I signed for my car to be taken and that I should pay R9450.00 if I want my car. My car is currently with them and incurring a cost of R300 everyday for storage. I am sooo FURIOUS as this Tobie guy took advantage of a mother in distress and defrauded me. these guys are ruthless and evil. How am I to get my car back now as my insurance isnt going to pay for my car to be released as they didnt authorize for it to be taken. I wish there was some board that could really help us as these guys are really robbing us of our cars.

Yep same thing happened to me yesterday, guy with a tow truck insisted to take my car after I said NO, but said it was leaking and will only charge R450 only, to my surprised we were asked to pay R9300 for admin and storage fees.
