My husband had a credit card that was past due. After he passed away, I was attempting to resolve all of his and my outstanding debts. When I called the credit card bank, I was told that this account was already placed into collections with IC Systems and they gave me their phone number to call. My first contact with ICS went very smoothly. I talked to an account manager named Jeff and he gave me a settlement amount to pay which was a around a hundred dollars less than the outstanding balance. I had not received a notice in the mail yet from IC systems, so I sent the payment directly to the credit card company. I called IC Systems back and they confirmed that the payment had been received and the balance was paid in full. I asked for a confirmation letter, and they agreed to send one.

A few days later, I received the first "bill" from IC Systems. It was for the full amount. I called them back and was told that there was no documentation of any settlement on this account. That I had made the payment to the credit card company, so therefore I MUST have made the settlement with them. She was very rude and kept talking over me, threatening to hang up on me, etc. She said I would have to fax a letter from the credit card company saying THEY accepted the settlement agreement amount.

I looked again at my notes from the first phone call and noticed that I had indeed called IC Systems for the settlement. When I made first contact with the credit card company, they told me that they had turned this over for collection and gave me their number to call to make arrangements.

I called IC Systems back again, they still refuse to acknowledge that I paid the settlement amount, said there was NEVER a settlement amount.

I called IC Systems again the next day, and the Account Manager happened to answer the phone, and he VERIFIED to me over the phone that yes, he saw that it was a settlement, and yes it was paid in full. When I asked for a letter of verification he put me on hold.

Then the collection manager picked up I told Megan that I had been talking with Jeff and she denied that Jeff EVER told me those things on the phone. It is just a headache and a run around and they lie to your face and it is so frustrating!

I have been very adult, there have been very very few times that I have been in this position and EVERY single time when ICS has contacted me they have tried their pathetic best to make me feel like crap. Thank goodness that I can see them for what they really are. I do pay my bills. Plain and simple its like this, when you people treat others like crap expect to get sworn at plain and simple.
There is no one, and I mean no one that I have ever talked to that has no more than loathing for someone in your choice of career. debt collectors IMHO are the lowest of low. The bigger picture is that the companies should have known not to extend credit to the people in the first place. They should not have hired the maladjusted individuals that for the most part are not on the types of meds that they really should be on to keep them from being such angry people.

More contact information on IC System:
Verizon landlines improperly sent my final bill to I C System, even though it was only $10, wasn't due until a week in the future. and my credit rating is prefect. I found when ICS called me with their harrasment machine, tone "1" that "yes, I'm that guy", never got me a human. Only a message to call them again later. They called me! I was only finally able to reach a human there with this number that Verizon said they use internally when they call ICS:
800-279-1783.

I also sucessfully sent I.C. System a fax at:
Fax: 800-328-9595
The CID when they called me, and other contact info from the web, were:
651-204-1329, 6512041317, 651-204-1314 651-204-1341

IC Systems, Inc
444 Highway 96 East
PO Box 64887
St. Paul MN 55164

They like payments to:
I.C. SYSTEM, INC
P.O. 64378
St. Paul, MN 55164-0378

Their website was useless for disputing:
http://www.yourpayment.com/

This is a completely unscrupulous company.
Some state attorney general should be able to go after them for their practice of making 500 harassment calls at once, with 0 or 2 staff standing by to talk with all the people pushing "1" for "I'm the guy let's talk", calls that do not disclose the amount alledgedly owed, the creditor, or acct number. They ring you 20 times per day. This is deliberately just a harrassment machine.

In all defense, I am just looking from both point of view. If someone else owes you money, you expect it back in a timely fashion, no one wants to push for money that's why we have collection agencies. A collection agency does not have customer services, if you want customer service then go to Burger King. The customer in their view is the client that they are collecting for, the consumers are the debtors. Do you see the difference? On occasions you have those who can't pay their bills and those who simply are bums and won't get off their buns to pay any bills but expects the food for free. You are given a time frame before being put in collection, don't you think it is fair that they are harsh at times? There are people who wait six months or one year to pay their bills, don't you think your electricity would have been cut off by that time? I personally don't feel sorry for anyone. A medical bill is different from all bills. It is unexpected and life sometimes has that but other than that then everyone deserves what's coming to them. You had time and bills, PAY THEM. And just FYI, whatever the debtors don't pay because their butts are too loaded paying their cell phone bills instead, I will have to pay for their debts with my taxes, so I say if you owe money, then pay it otherwise, you deserve what you get it. It's not a surprise, you got the service, pay the god damn bill!

Wow I just read every single comment and I am glad that I am not alone. I am a very responsible person and have always paid my bills on time. I did the 30 day trial for ATT and did not liek it after about two weeks. I went back to the kiosk in Costco and the same gentleman helped me change it over to Verizon. About a month later I received a bill from ATT for $515.00 for each line(I had 2 lines). I called immediately and they told me that it was because I canceled my service. I reminded them that I had a 30 day trial and canceled before the 30 days and I had proof. They took the charges off and said that EVERYTHING was taken off. I received another bill a month after that for $262.00 for some unknown reason. I called ATT aagin and this time they said that I had to pay activation fees and the minutes that I accrued over two weeks. Does it seem like I would use that many miutes in two weeks time? I don't think so. They reduced the bill to $134.00 and I still did not agree that I should have to pay. They sent it to IC systems and now the fun begins. My boyfriends mom started getting calls from them every 30 min for like three days straight. I lived there for like three months and did not use her phone number for anything. She finally answered and told them I did not live there and to stop calling her. They called back one more time which is illegal! They sent me a letter nust about a week ago saying that I had "30 days to respond" or it would be shown on my credit history. It has not even been a week since I received this letter and I get a call this morning from some dueche bag telling me that if I did not pay the amount IMMEDIATELY he would mark it as a refusal to pay. I told him that I needed to discuss this matter with ATT because there has been some misunderstanding. He said oh well I gues your not paying this. I told him I was not refusing to pay but that I am not going to pay this second. I told him I had 30 days to take action and then he said that I called on March 31st? Which never even happened so he is trying to scare me into paying this bogus debt. He told me I was incorrect and that I did not have 30 days even though the letter clearly stated I did. So obviously they will keep harrassing because that is all that they are good at. They try to make you feel like you are scum and worthless while in fact they are themselves. They probably make what like minimum wage and are struggling with their bills just like a lot of other people. Maybe this compnay should learn how to communicate with individuals and they would actually be able to Collect this money from each person. Harassing will get them no where and if their so called Supervisors had any kind of brains they would realize that being polite actually works. For whoever on here that works for IC systems, do not sit there and say that you guys are only rude if we are rude first. That is complete BS. You guys thrive off of treating people like crap. It is pretty much instilled in you debt collectors. If I do not pay a bill, that does not necessarily make me a scummy person. I just choose to give my money to people who are actually respectful and have some class. Most of these people are probably low class, hillbilly, white trash that are just jeolous of others. I mean look what they do for a living, you guys are so much better than us! Give me a break! Next time one of these loosers call me I am simoly going to tell him to take a manners lesson or a speech course and then call me afterwards and we will then talk about the money that I owe!

Why don't you just pay your bill? You wouldnt be in that situation if you'd take responsibility for your obligations.
101 days ago by Erika [send email]
Actually I did take responsibility and called ATT long before they sent this to your lame company, and the gentleman I spoke with said it was taken care of then they sent me another bill saying they sent the amount to your company. I do take responsibility for my actions so do not condescend me, thanks!

Does anyone find it a LITTLE strange there are IC Systems employees posting to this and other forums regarding the practices of this company? How did you know about this site IC Systems collector? Did you Google the company you work for? My wife answered one of your harassments and was immediately treated rudely. So this farce that your company doesn't train you jackasses to be rude is simply not true. Dude, look at this site. OBVIOUSLY something WRONG with your practices. I couldn't imagine being in your call center. Must be LOUD. By the way. I'm the guy who called you back 4 times last night and let you 4 punks HAVE it ONLY after you attacked my wife. I'm also the guy that is going to keep calling YOU and wasting YOUR time. Sorry...can't help it...just to fun! I’m sure you guys have one hell of a security force up there in Minnesota. Good thing for you. It cracks me up that when you ask to talk to a manager, the MANAGER is a jerk. Has anyone heard of that before? And to the other d##che that posted from the company – It IS phishing honey. The way you try to bully people I wonder how many little old ladies actually pay you something they don’t owe! That’s phishing.

Here is how you get IC System to stop calling and "harrassing" you, Take Responsibility for your actions and PAY YOUR BILLS. I gaurentee it when you pay your bills, they will stop calling you immediately without question. You see how simple that is???
98 days ago by Collector [send email]
Too all you people saying that ic system calling back after you told them that their is no one that lives there by that name is illegal are wrong it isn't illegal. Do you realize how many people say that trying to get out of there bills cuz they are too lazy to get a job after they were fired or lost there job for whatever reason. People understand it is NOT customer service !!

Here is for all you deadbeats out their complaining about being in collections. If you spent half as much time attempting to work out an arrangement to become productive members of society and get out of collections as you are trying to avoid you debts, or as I call them, Debt Dodging, just think what you could accomplish with all that extra time and not having to worry about a debt collector calling you. If you think about it, People shouldnt have to call you to pay your bills. It should be AUTOMATIC. I am a collector, and I am proud of being a collector, because its a self-esteem booster, and for those of you who think were a bunch of low lifes who call you-what does that say about you??? your in collections, how does that NOT make you a low-life??? I think its funny all the excuses debtors like to use. Let me tell you, you DEBTORS are entertaining, you make me laugh at work. No day is dull.
98 days ago by Ic Systems Hater [send email]
No Daryl you have wrong. You're the entertainment. It is a BLAST f##cking with you dips##ts. Hell I just called you last night to mess with you. Funny how I seem to be able to get you so flustered you wanna cry like a girl. Keep thinking we're all just deadbeats. I make more in a month than you do in 4. I specifically didn't pay a bill JUST so I could f#ck with IC Systems and enjoy every minute of it. As someone said, debt collecting is stressfull. I hope so. I hope it's so stressfull you go into a deep depression and kill yourself. I notice you wussies say nothing about how you treat the person. It's one think to collect a debt. It's another to be a total dick while doing it.

What should you do if a debt collector is intimidating or harassing you?

(1) Find out if the collector is violating the FDCPA or your state's laws. If so, send the collector a certified letter, return receipt requested, telling them that you believe he is in violation of the FDCPA or your state's laws; and, if you want
(2) Tell the debt collector you want him to stop phoning you at home and at work.
(3) You can file a complaint online at www.ftc.gov. The FTC is the body in charge of regulating debt collection agencies. They will not handle your case personally, but you should report the agency anyway, since they will sanction the agency if it receives enough complaints from consumers.
(4) Report the activity to your State Attorney General's office. They will investigate the matter.
(5) You can also gather evidence by recording phone conversations with the debt collection agency. If you can prove the debt collector used illegal tactics, you can sue for damages under the FDCPA.

38 states DO NOT Require you to let the debt collector know that they are being recorded. AND if they say that "In the state of XYZ we CAN call you at home just not at work". WELL Under FEDERAL LAW they are considered to be a 3rd party collector so YOU CAN ask them to stop calling you at home. The only time that does'nt apply is if they are the ORIGINAL creditor.

To IC Hater- If you make so much money, you wouldnt be in collections, 2- you are a deadbeat IF you have NOTHING better to do than call a collection agency and "mess" with them. You have no life to speak of whatsoever, when I say "mess" I mean you have no chance whatsoever winning. I destroy people for a living, thats what we do, you are the reason we have a job. I would like to thank you and your fellow deadbeats for the GREAT job security we have in this dwindling economy. I should buy you a beer, considering it would be with your money anyway, thats the least I could do for you being a non productive member of society, wait a minuete, I pay taxes to support your worthess ass. You should buy me a beer.

To Maybe This Will Help- A "Cease and Desist" does not mean your DEBT goes away, and in most cases when a DEBTOR goes that route, The Agency will take them to court and it will cost you, The DEBTOR, more money. So my advice to you DEBTORS who want help... Pony up and pay your BILLS, that is the easiest way to get collection agencys off your ass!!!
97 days ago by Ic Systems Hater [send email]
Daryl - "I destroy people for a living" this is why you're going to hell.

And no actually I have a very busy, full productive life. Unlike you who after he gets off work choses to jump on his kiddie porn ridden computer and CONTINUE to f#ck with people. I'm just one that’s not going to take your shit.

Dude you're just proving the points of every poster here.
Your company is full of a bunch of d#uche bags.
It's just WAY to much fun "messing" with you to the point of you wetting your pants.

"A "Cease and Desist" does not mean your DEBT goes away" - you're right but it does mean you lose all power and purpose in life..and that, d#uche, is all we want. And let "the agency" take us to court. Once again - it takes your looser ass company OUT of the picture.
"when I say "mess" I mean you have no chance whatsoever winning" - what the f#uck kind of grammar is that? The combined statements have nothing to do with each other. D#uche.
But that just proves you're an uneducated weasel making minimum wage - by the way have you NO goals in life. What are you going to do, be a debt collector you whole life. Hey everybody look at me I'm 50 and sit on the phone all day collecting other people’s money. You're cool.

I also find it funny that whenever I tell you losers YOU'RE being recorded your balls fly up into your stomach.

Hmm…what else... oh did I mention you're a d#uche bag?
Tell you what tough guy, this Sunday, at noon, why don't you meet me in the Sears parking lot of Southridge mall in Des Moines Iowa.

Stand at the entrance of Sears. Don't worry you'll know who I am. I'll be the one towering over you as you make poopy in your pants.

After reading all of your complaints about a company that is hired to collect debt. I started thinking about the "CORE OF THE PROBLEM" I asked myself "What do all of these complaints have in common?" "What could make all of this not happen in the 1st place?" and the same answer came to me for every complaint!

******************PAY YOUR BILLS!!!***********************

Blame yourself for the "Higher cost of Living!" you're the ones that make it happen! The economy has to make up the money from your unstable money spending problem!!! It's called a BUDGET, learn to do so, and PAY YOUR BILLS!!! and guess what
there will be NO MORE CALLS!!!

To IC Hater- You just proved my point with your post. Thank You for making it easy on me. You just got DESTROYED and didnt even know it.

For all you complainers about this company, just so you know, they're doing a job! I can guarantee if someone owed you money you'd be collecting IC System has nothing to do with any fees added thats the creditor part not IC'S part. If you look it up you cannot call trying to collect a debt as harrassment it's called collecting or as some people call it doing their job. We are all human too and yes we do feel bad but when we call you and you scream at us or curse at us just think how you'd feel if you borrowed someone 1, 000 dollars and they never paid you they always said I'm not working or I have no money remember some effort is better than no effort!!
95 days ago by R.l. Stine [send email]
being in collections does suck, and it can be frustrating, but that is the point. the business is set up to push you over the edge, and usually that means paying it, as sad as that sounds. people who owe lots of money generally find it easier to avoid the situation instead of taking care of it. its the same concept as "it is easier to apologize than to ask permission." I do credit card collections, and most people intend to pay, they just lost their job, or got injured at work, and they cant pay. they buy insurance on the credit card so if they get unemployed the interest and fees stop, but they dont realize that the minimum payment has to be made each month. other times people have had the same account for the same bill in collections with different collection companies. if one fails, it gets sold at a lower cost to another company. kind of a "here, you try cuz we can't fucking get them to pay" sort of deal. so then people get calls from a new company with new collectors. these new collectors might be nice and help you get it taken care of (we are rare, but we are out there if you be civil with us), and there are those collectors who see think the easiest way to make you pay is to push you over that edge...eventually you just say fuck it and either pay it online or with the original store or credit card company they owe it to. most often, bypassing the collection company will give you piece of mind that you paid it, but it wont stop the calls. the agency will tell you to prove that you paid it by sending a copy of the receipt that shows the balance in full was paid. this can be equally as tough sometimes. I have left messages for people everyday for 3 weeks before and they just choose to not return the calls, ever. then out of the blue they pay the credit card company (not my collection company). i always want to call them and say "what do you think i was calling about? I was just trying to help", but once a debt is paid we cant call them anymore by law. i just think everyone should know that not all collections workers are assholes. Im a college student, I only work part time, and my boyfriend and I manage to make a fair living being civil with people and showing respect, all the while helping people pay their debts and obtain better credit scores.
