My husband had a credit card that was past due. After he passed away, I was attempting to resolve all of his and my outstanding debts. When I called the credit card bank, I was told that this account was already placed into collections with IC Systems and they gave me their phone number to call. My first contact with ICS went very smoothly. I talked to an account manager named Jeff and he gave me a settlement amount to pay which was a around a hundred dollars less than the outstanding balance. I had not received a notice in the mail yet from IC systems, so I sent the payment directly to the credit card company. I called IC Systems back and they confirmed that the payment had been received and the balance was paid in full. I asked for a confirmation letter, and they agreed to send one.

A few days later, I received the first "bill" from IC Systems. It was for the full amount. I called them back and was told that there was no documentation of any settlement on this account. That I had made the payment to the credit card company, so therefore I MUST have made the settlement with them. She was very rude and kept talking over me, threatening to hang up on me, etc. She said I would have to fax a letter from the credit card company saying THEY accepted the settlement agreement amount.

I looked again at my notes from the first phone call and noticed that I had indeed called IC Systems for the settlement. When I made first contact with the credit card company, they told me that they had turned this over for collection and gave me their number to call to make arrangements.

I called IC Systems back again, they still refuse to acknowledge that I paid the settlement amount, said there was NEVER a settlement amount.

I called IC Systems again the next day, and the Account Manager happened to answer the phone, and he VERIFIED to me over the phone that yes, he saw that it was a settlement, and yes it was paid in full. When I asked for a letter of verification he put me on hold.

Then the collection manager picked up I told Megan that I had been talking with Jeff and she denied that Jeff EVER told me those things on the phone. It is just a headache and a run around and they lie to your face and it is so frustrating!

I experienced this same problem, even though I've never had bad debt. However, IC had my phone number listed as belonging to one of their "hunted" and refused to remove it from their lists. They called over and over for "Victoria" and even gave me personal credit information about her. Call your state's Attorney General's office and COMPLAIN now. Even if you owe the debt, there are laws that prevent you from being hounded and mistreated.

This mornning I learned who ICSystems, Inc was and learned all I could about my rights as a consumer Law sites, FCRA and some other judicial sites - I just knew calling someone like that couldn't be right let alone legal and I found sure enough, it isn't!

SEARCH - The Fair Credit Reporting Act. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER - KNOW what the law states before you ever deal with a collection agency. they DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES - get over it! Tell them for every infraction of the law it will cost them $1,000 as the LAW ALLOWS! 12 infgractions $12grand. Don't be casual about it but quote the law as it actually states and if you don't actually plan to pursue it, don't bluff. Still yet the law is the law and no collection agency has the right to call anyone more than 3 times a week without breaching the FCRA, it's harrassment! Additionally, the law allows upto $500,000 in damages including court costs, attoreny's fees, and punitve damages if you can prove intentional abuse. Calling repeatedly is abuse INTENTIONALLY. NOT sending a letter confirming the original debtor, it's amount, etc is against the law. One remedy, send a certified letter (signiture required!) stating your intentions and demand information concerning your debt, origination date , etc. if they do not send it in a reasonable time, send another letter stating the law and what it means to them and you because their non-compliance.

This should start you off in the right direction, keep in mind DO NOT get emotional about it, it clouds your judgement. Be polite, no one wants to be yelled at and made to feel inferior (consider who you're dealing with) Outbound telemarketing agents, it's probably not really where they want to be, if you give them a reason, their possible frustration could easily be taken out on you! So, behave!

Shalom!

I dont understand how hard it is to pay a freeking bill. How do you justify taking goods or services and not paying for them? How do you sleep at night? Doesnt it bother you know that you owe someone? Collections agents dont care about you. They dont care about your feelings. We have heard your story a million times. Take responsibility get a life and grow up.

IC systems keeps calling me, too. I think I'm going to answer and make up a language to speak to them in. Maybe that will stop them from calling when they see they can't communicate with me.
113 days ago by Bill Collector [send email]
Good make up a language then we will have more sympathy for because will only think that you are a retarted debtor. Good thinkin... And you wonder why you are in debt.

Recently I was called by this company. He called my cell phone but asked for my boyfriend, Jason. He did not give his name or his company. When I asked him which Jason he was referring to, he did eventually tell me my boyfriend's last name. I had to ask him for his name, which was Paul, but he would not give any more information about himself. He sounded very nervous, not like a collection agent would sound. Did not say "this is an effort to collect a debt, etc" like most companies are required by law to say.

He wanted a payment for $25 for a real estate program that we supposedly ordered on August 13th, 2007. We do not remember any such purchase made, and even though he said he sent us a letter, we never got one. He said that if we did not pay over the phone via credit card or check that day, that it would effect Jason's credit immediately as a decline of payment.

We of course disputed the charge and did not agree to pay him anything, and told him if he wanted money from us he would have to send a letter. He told Jason it would arrive within two weeks, and then told me they would be in touch with me tomorrow. So far they have not called back.

I ended up calling the Minnesota police department because I thought it was a scam to steak credit card numbers. They sent me to the attorney general's office, where I finally found out where this number belongs... to IC Systems. After reading this page, I am convinced that this company is no good, and possibly a scam. I recommend all of you contact the BBB, and make a claim on the attorney general's website: www.ag.state.mn.us

They called me today for the first time, saying that we owed over $300 for some company that we'd never heard of. Not only that, the date that apparently we had incurred this 'service' from them we weren't even living at the address they had on file. They said the service was for a 'tax consultant and/or accountant'. I replied 'now why would we go to someone about taxes in December...we wouldn't have even received our W-2 forms yet. She told me that we must have told that company we lived at the other address, and that she cannot answer the questions about why we had the consultation, only that every Saturday this 'delinquent' bill was being reported and affecting our credit rating. I asked where this 'accountant and/or tax consultant' was located and she said she didn't have that information. I asked what this 'accountant and/or tax consultant's phone number was, and again, she said she didn't have that information. Then she asked if I would be paying with my credit or debit card and to give her the account number. I told her there was no way I would be paying her anything for a service we never had nor asked for. I told her that WE would be reporting THEM every week and asked for the phone number of I. C. Systems and she gave me a number. It was NOT the number on our Caller ID. After we hung up, I called the number she had given me and it was a recording. There was no introduction of the company, only a recording saying "Please hold for the next available assistant". I just hung up and shook my head.

Apparently there is nothing fraudulent unless they actually get your money, so there is nothing that anyone can do except be careful about these types. Imagine somebody telling us that the 'bill' was incurred when we didn't even live at the address they had, and then telling me that it was the address I'd given this 'tax consultant and/or accountant' that she had no idea where he was or what his phone number was. Give me a BREAK! I don't know who these people are, I just hope they get caught!

IC System is not a phishing company and they do not buy lists from companies. Companies hire agencies like IC System to collect debts for them. Companies place accounts with ICS to be their client. ICS and like companies, have to follow the rules of the client. If the client wants them to verify the address or phone # of the correct party, the agency must follow that. Please next time you have a complaint that they are "phishing", complain to the company that hired ICS in the first place.

When it comes to phone numbers, the number on the caller id or the number given will be different for the different clients that are being represented. There is nothing to be "caught". ICS is a very large company with a very large number of clients and they all have different numbers to be given to keep all of the clients seperated.

WOW! I am so glad I told them that no one was here by that name and they removed me from that crazy automated phone calling system. I mean, they start calling at 8 in the morning on a Sunday and it goes on all day!

at least I'm not the only one this company is harassing. I recently had my Target card account forwarded to them (all because I was 1 month behind and did catch up but whatever), after about the 4th call in the first day I spoke to a gentleman who absolutely refused to listen to anything I had to offer to try to settle the debt (at least I was trying), I also said stop with the incessant calling, he claimed it's "part of his job" yeah right I didn't know harassment was in your job description! Now on average they call my cell phone 5 TIMES A DAY at all different times, at least once I answer and immediately tell them to stop calling but nobody cares, they must pass it on to the next idiot. I am looking into filing a complaint with the FTC or the AG on this, I don't have the time to deal with people who refuse to be reasonable with you!

What you people don't understand is the companies that send you to collections give the numbers they have with the accounts so its not ic system that comes up with these numbers. Also if you are not going to act like a mature adult don't expect to get treated like one. It is a very stressful job and you being very rude doesn't help your cause. You could not even start to fathom how many people I have helped in different situations. You are all so QUICK TO JUDGE !! If you don't want them calling you PAY YOUR BILL. Everything they do is legal believe me they try very hard to keep everything by the rules of the FDCPA.

When I told ic I would pay $66.
00...all that was owed, on the 3rd of the month when my SS arrived, she said, "No. I will put in the report 'refused to pay.'" (It was then2nd!) When I told her I was on SS because of a heart attack after my husband died, she said, "Too bad. Either pay now or"REFUSAL". i CALLED THE BANK AND WAS TOLD TO SEND IT TO THEM...THEY WOULD HANDLE IT. THEY ALSO TOLD ME HOW IC SYSTEMS ACTUALLY TRAINS THEIR EMPLOYEES TO BE RUDE FOR THE PURPOSE OF INTIMIDATION.

uhhh, here's an idea, pay your bills on time and actually act like you care about your credit score, show a little responsibility, and you wont get turned over to a national collections agency. that simple. duh.
98 days ago by Z. Meyer [send email]
ok, this is an easy fix...if you dont like getting collection calls that you claim to be harrassing, pay your bills on time! collections agencies arent calling to be your friend. its just business! pay on time and take some responsibility and you dont have to worry about getting turned in for not paying money that you owe! Duh.

I actually work for IC System, we are a very very large company and have a lot of work to do. The way it works is, if we call you we have the information right in front of us, none of you can hide.. its right there.. but it is against the law for us to state what the debt is for until you verify the correct address, we could be giving the wrong person your personal information, and we dont want to do that. Its that easy if we say is your address 123 happy st? and you say yes or no but its a previous address, we can go further tell you what the debt is about thats all you have to say its that easy. I know some people that work there can be rude but they're only rude if you are rude to them first, so its simple just go with the flow verify the address, and thats that. were not selling you anything we're not giving you false information, we're trying to help you out

You have heard all the sob stories etc, well great for you. I would love nothing more than to pay the 15k that I owe to the medical centre that did the Angioplasty that I told them that I had no insurance to pay for. I will be even happier to file bankruptcy if nothing else than to prevent ICS from getting a fusking dime out of me. I understand its your job to call and belittle people, make them feel like the lowest form of slime that you perceive them to be . After that I will then make direct payments to the facility that performed the procedure and bypass your slimy asses. It is my most sincere hope that you personally experience the slow and painful reality of a non curable cancer, then you may have a clue what crap you people are. you are the defining reason for thinning the heard, and as a final note. you are one load your mother should have swallowed. now go and take those thoughts of suicide that you had when you were younger and act on them.

The last post is what I am talking about. Grow up and act like an adult ! How would you feel if you got yelled at and swore at everyday. Yes there are a few who are total jerks no matter what but not every debt collector is that way!
