I am a fido cell-phone user. One week ago, 75464 sent me an advertisement text. It is a company called PrizeKing Alerts, which I have never heard before. Then, without any authorization, it sent me unwanted text messages and charged them. This company has sent 4 messages to my cell-phone. Why should I pay over $20/week to this third-party company through Fido's bill? I have already sent e-mails to Fido customer service twice, and they said they were not responsible for third-party and their actions. But I have never signed up as a PrizeKing Alerts Club member.
Details of third party is :
Content Provider : PrizeKing
Code / Services Description : 75464 PrizeKing Alerts Club

I have already sent “Stop” to 75464 and they indeed stop sending me text messages. But the whole stuff goes really weird. First I have never heard a company named “PrizeKing Alerts Club” before. How could they send me messages while I am not a member of them? I want to know details about when and how did I get contact with this third-party company. By the way, I do not want to pay for those charged messages.

Fido is an irresponsible company because they refuse to answer my questions about the relationship between them and those third-party companies. I used to think Fido is a large company with good reputation. Now, I do not trust Fido any more.
Thanks for your advice L.Wong. Perhaps Fido do have deals with those third-party company.
My invoice is available today, and I do not want to pay the extra third-party charges.

I have unsolicited adds appearing on my chrome browser in all the web sites I go to, even this one! offering me prises if I answer a quiz. Prises are ipad or cash card etc. (Sounds too good to be true and it IS.) One of the questions on the quiz is my mobile phone number which I refuse to give out.
I have traced these pop up adds to prise king. The give number above is an answering machine. They say they will get back to you, (I bett). There is obviously something on my computer now that is causing all these pop up adds to appear, because its in nearly every web site I go to, even this one. I want to know how they did this because I never signed up for any of this!
The soon I get rid of this the better.

Hello, Mike Hornbrook,
If you want to know more details about this scam, I could help you. Could you please provide your phone #.
And i think the Prizeking is making Worms or Trojan disguised as Internet Browsers' add-ons for Firefox or IE.

The same story happens to me recently. I never signed up any online prize lottery. And I get charged for CAD$5 for every messages. I called their toll free # to stop. The representative said they would be cancelling something I never ordered. But next month, I got an even bigger phone bill by charging me more text messages.

And the even more weird thing is I never received any text messages on my phone. But the bill comes. I doubt this is a game of Prizeking with Fido together. And fido is trying to tell me they are not responsible. How despicable of this Prizeking.com and how bad the Fido is. Because of that, I terminated my Fido contract and switched to Wind.

The last thing, Prizeking purposely distributed Trojan viruses and worm viruses into your computer system and trap people by disguises like " you are selected by GOOGLE". Google is a decent respectful company compared to the clown Prizeking.com.

One of your victims.

I have the same problem and my invoices are same as L.Wong. I am pretty sure that I had never subscribed for this prizeking but I clearly remember how it started and it can help by more investigations. My primary plan with Fido was a basic 25$/montly without texting. So I requested Fido to add a value pack including 200 text a month. Once my value pack became activated, I received these messages from prizeking and got overcharged for them. It clearly proves that our phone numbers are provided to these third party companies by Fido.
I am so angry and wondering if there is any way I can claim my money from either Fido or prizeking? I am an international student and can not afford these unexpected expenses. I' ve never seen such a thing in other countries before.

well now us brits are getting attacked by prize king just got hit for 2 text messages £4.50 each sent over 30 emails to prize king for them to now just ignor me everytime i set up a new complaint it just gets deleted, i changed my tel number from one carrier to another and all of a suden i get these texts funny thing is they say i signed up on the 10/01/2011 and i got charged for these in late september 2011 after i signed up with a new carrier it even states in prize kings terms and conditions 4.1 termination-members, Where a Member transfers their mobile phone number to a different carrier, we are required by carrier regulations to cancel the Member's Membership. even after this they still wont refund. a bloody joke of a company, bunch of scammers if you ask me i would like to add i never signed up or asked for there service and given the fact that my old phone was pay as you go i find it highly unlikly that i would sign up to a priemium rate service

Hi there, I do have the same problem with Fido, back in May, I received 2 bills, one is around $180. and the 2nd one about $70.
I contact them, and nothing is solved by Fido, and let left me with a big bills to pay. Few days ago, I got contact by this man
from CBC News, he is investigate on this issue, and will be help us to publicize all of the scams done by Fido, Rogers, etc cellular company. I include his contact email, you can in touch with him, and he will in good help.
...

I would like to get more details about how you got ensnarled in the web of third-party billings initially, and what FIDO did when you brought it to their attention. From what I've learned it seems a customer is pretty much on his/her own after the charges start coming.
Anti-spam legislation passed by Parliament last year has just come into effect and there's hope it will stop this kind of abuse. But more legislation may be needed.
Can you give me a call at the number below so we can go over the details?
Many thanks!
Mike

Hi JC,

For any third-party content received, if you text "STOP" back to the sender of these messages you will no longer be subscribed. Once you've texted "STOP" you should receive an SMS confirming the cancellation.

Please contact the Content Provider for any disputes or issues with the service. Hope this helps - cheers!

Sincerely,
@Rogers_Kelly
