CIC is billing me monthly for a service I do not use, do not need and can't seem to stop. I will call them, write them, report them to the BBB and to the attorney general. Shame on CIC!

I just got charged USD 12.9 5 from CIC Triple Advantage that I di not request. This is totally unfair. I am in India and not sure how to handle this.

I regret to inform you all that in many cases an account cannot be closed. I, for example, had called the customer service line multiple times and received a total of 5 confirmation numbers on my account closing. However, like clockwork, the charge would reappear the following month. Eventually I had to transfer the balance from the particular CC that was being charged to another card so as to avoid that one particular charge. All in All they took me for over $70. Don't believe that a confirmation number has any sort of validity on your next call.

I just got hit with 2 months of this. It's highway robbery. I don't know how those that work at CIC can sleep at night. I will be disputing this one all the way until I get my $25 back.

I just found two charges with in a 30 period from CIC*Triple Advantage. I immediately called Visa to find out what it was and they gave me the phone number 877-481-6825. I called the number, spoke to a CSR named Joshua and explained to him that I never authorized the charges. He told me that it was done when I got my free credit report, I was enrolled into a "free" trial month for credit monitoring. I definitely never enrolled in any such thing. He saw that my account wasn't used in 2 months, credited me the 2 charges and cancelled the service. He told me to expect the 2 refunds within 7-10 business days. When I asked for a confirmation number he told me that one wasn't available and when I then asked for some sort of employee ID number, he said he didn't have one of those either.

I am currently on the line with Visa again because this last charge put me over my limit.

This company is doing the same thing to me and one of my friends. It is not good business and the people from the company are very rude. I refuse to let this go on.

I have a fee on my American Express for $12.95 for a credit report which I never purchased. Why would I purchase a report when everyone knows you can get a credit report free.

These mysterious charges keep appearing on my credit card, and the same with my girlfriend. CIC has never done anything for either of us.

I too just discovered this charge on my credit card. I was doing a search to find out what it is and found this site. I'll try the number listed by Holly. Hope it works!

We too are receiving the same problems from the same company. We are being charged monthly by two different credit reporting agencies: freecreditreport.com and creditreport.com. The phone numbers are FCR.com 877-481-6825 and CR.com 866-408-4016. Make sure you get the name of the customer service rep and a confirmation number. From what we understand, once you have been given a confirmation number to stop the service if you receive another charge the company is breaking a Federal law.

I am being charged $12 monthly on my credit card ~ a charge I never authorized. The company doesn't deliver the service that they are charging for and have made the process to cancel the subscription as difficult as possible. Highly unethical!

I got a charge today from CIC (freecreditreport.com) I never even signed up for the service as a trial. This company is highly suspect.

If you call 1-877-481-6825 you can cancel and get a refund. Make sure you get phone operator's name and company ID!

I signed up for triple advantage credit card report through (freecreditreport.com) after watching several commercials on TV. I signed up for the free trial and forgot about the trial. Well it recurred 1 month and I got charged for 1 month of, $12.95. No biggie I tried to cancel the account by calling 877-4816825, and according to the rep, the account was canceled. Well after couple months later, I realized it never got cancelled! I call the same number 877-4816825 but it was always busy or gave me message saying there was no one there. I managed to get the number of the parent company, consumer info of 1-888-888-8553. According to the rep of this number, I did call the previous rep before, but I never cancelled the account. She said according to the record, I wanted to continue the service. What the hell!? why would i call the rep just to say I want to continue the service??? Well this time she assured the account is cancel and she even gave me a reference number, and said I will get a confirmation email. Overall I got charged 12.95 five times for getting to view my "free credit report" once.

I signed up for a "FREE" credit report and got what I expected, 1 report telling me what my current status was. I didn't realize until 6 months later that Triple Advantage was charging me $12.95 monthly, even though in the small print it did say they would after 30 days. But when I called them and complained about the whole thing they canceled my account and reimbursed me the entire amount. I am very satisfied with their customer service.

I like everyone else want there credit report free and then it turns out that you get charge every month. This should be against the law. Now i have try to stop them from charging my credit card, or i have to cancel my credit card.

CIC Triple Advantage has been billing my credit card without authorization for $12.00 each time. They don't cancel!!

I was also taken in because of the fine print on the blue background of their first page. Even though I later re-read that portion and found it to be correct, I still think they are on the borderline of dishonest advertising. I should have known better that anything advertised as 'FREE' but still requiring a credit card number is a danger sign.

Those of you who state that you never signed up for this monthly billed service are incorrect. I do have sympathy for your situations, however, you DID sign up for the service when you agreed to the terms and conditions in whatever CIC associated web site you visited. This is how marketing works. You went on there to get your "free credit report", and the credit report was provided to you without charge. However, the catch is that to get that "free" service, you have to agree to the terms and conditions, which include your consent to sign up for the 30 day trial, and be billed on a monthly basis thereafter should you not cancel your subscription. It IS spelled out very clearly in the small print. You have ALL agreed to this service when you click on "confirm" on freecreditreport.com. So I really do not understand what your fuss is all about. Do you really think that any company can afford to give you any free service out of the blue? Nothing is "free" in this world. Even the air you breathe comes for a charge. So, next time before you fall for scams: Read the contract you are signing!

I called the number that was given (877-481-6825). Ask them to cancel your account and for a refund. The company states that they can only refund you for the past two months. Also, they do not provide a confirmation # for the refund, but will provide one for the cancellation. The woman on the phone said the refund should post in 7-10 days and that you can call back to verify.
