Signed up for service I never received and did not want or need!

CIC is billing me monthly for a service I do not use, do not need and can't seem to stop. I will call them, write them, report them to the BBB and to the attorney general. Shame on CIC!

This is the worst company. It is so discouraging as a trusting person and someone who wants to believe the good in people to have this happen to me is disheartening. It confirms to me that some people really do personify the bad American image that we have. Just remember that this should be an example of why there needs to be good in the world and you should be a part of it.

Can't take a stand either way, but I handle a lot of these as I work for bank of America. I adv that all of be sure to call the merchant because they are willing to work with you in every case I've ever dealt with. Also, read the fine more finely that will help you a lot.

I just got off the phone with "Jerry" who said my account was cancelled, but who knows my bank said that they need to give me a cancellation #, but he said he could not and just gave me his corporate id.. so who knows.

I called to cancel this service i never signed up for... They were trying to only give me a partial refund... I had to yell & cuss & threaten but after i screamed for a while i got full reimbursement... They kept trying to give me a corp. Code instead of a cancellation code just yell & tell them you will not go away until you get the cancellation code... Be forceful!!! Good luck all of you...

There is a charge on my credit card to CIC Triple Advantage, but I remember going to Experian to get a credit report. At Experian they have no record of me although I'm sure I filed complaints about my credit score. Several debts it listed were already paid.

I did a Google for CIC Triple Advantage and this complaint board came up at the top. I can't afford a $12.95 charge for nothing right now.

I was concerned about my credit score because I saw it listed as Fair at Prosper.com. This charge for $12.95 happened this month, so if there is a credit report I would like to see it, but this was the site that came up at the top. I haven't really the time to go looking for their Home Web Site.

I agree with the first commenter, Sarah Smith, the organization that needs to hear about this is the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They have jurisdiction over the credit bureaus and have already fined this company $1.25 million dollars.

I initially authorized them to charge my card $24.95 for the purchase of the Three credit reports at once. They never said anything about a monthly fee. I just called and raised chain with them and she finally agreed to refund all three charges. I should receive a refund in 7-10 days from them. We will see. I also work for my bank and I know the rules on processing a dispute. GO TO YOUR BANK AND DISPUTE THE CHARGES TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK! THEY CAN HELP YOU WITHOUT CHARGING YOU ANYMORE!!! I called my bank about charges I did not authorize, I was told to call the EXPERIAN company, who is doing the charges and cancel. Then call my bank back and they will place a stop on any more withdrawals by them and file a complaint. Hope that works

My turn. Just called the credit card company to dispute. Will call CIC tomorrow with little to no optimism, maybe a chance to vent.

The charge portion is mentioned in the small print:

"Payment Information
When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 30-day trial period, you will be billed $12.95 for each month that you continue your membership. If you are not satisfied, you can cancel at any time to discontinue the membership and stop the monthly billing; however, you will not be eligible for a pro-rated refund of your current month's paid membership fee."

...and to think we've been socialized to think that prices should be stated clearly next to what we are purchasing. Must have got it all wrong.

As a part of the package that came with Turbo Tax (an Intuit product), I took advantage of a FREE credit report. Now I find a charge on my credit card for $12 for CIC Triple Advantage. In googling that company's name, I came across other complaints about this.

How do I get them to reverse those charges?

I too found out that I had this repeating charge on my account. Unfortunately I didn't realize it wasn't another service I was signed up for until after 3 months of charges and was not able to recall what server this particular one was. After looking up the charge on my statement I found numerous complaints including this one.

It is a shame that the standard internet site follows by these same rules, it would be nice if there was a different attitude over all. The have a free membership, and then after 30 days make you have to agree to continue the membership and be billed instead of the system atomically billing you and making you a full member. The reason for this is instead of praying on our natural ability to forget to cancel the membership, they would provide a product in which they would profit off of someone actually taking the time to want to become a full member and letting the free trial membership accounts expire at the end of their duration.

Anyways, I called their phone number as stated in their FAQ on how to cancel my account. I talked to a guy and in a calm voice explained the whole issue. Told him the truth of the manner, that due to their system I am responsible for their charges though it is 'hidden' and not obvious when you sign up for that one free report. I explained how there are tons of complains about this very issue and it is unfortunate that they have to rope people into a membership in such a manner. I told them I wanted my account canceled and then requested that a refund for the last three months of charges. After being put on hold for a min. my consumer rep returned and told me that my account had been canceled and I had been approved for a 2 month refund.

All in all they were nice to deal with and I see no reason for yelling or getting angry because they drounded you in so much info you failed to read the fine print like most of us. They did seem willing to deal with me and address my request and I will see in the next 7-10 days if this actually worked.

I've been in Iraq for 9 months in an area without readily available internet or phone service, now that we got it I've seen for the last year (12 months) I've been billed. WTF. So hooah roger got it, I'm about to sign up for the phones and cuss some one out. Thanks much for the number.
