CIC is billing me monthly for a service I do not use, do not need and can't seem to stop. I will call them, write them, report them to the BBB and to the attorney general. Shame on CIC!

My fiance signed up for this service & we were billed within 2 weeks of signing up! Unfortunately I was not aware he was signing up for this service in the first place and he swears up & down that he either didn't receive an email with confirmation of "enrollment" or that he couldn't find info to cancel.

I know he's just squirming because he's in trouble for signing up for something like this & not taking care of it (cancelling) right away. However, I am most upset about the fact that it was supposed to be a FREE 30-day trial & our account was hit in 14 days. Bad practices if you ask me, and not quite a scam, but certainly praying upon the less internet-savy like my fiance.

I just found out about these mysterious withdrawals today! How do I make it stop?! I had no part in asking them to take any money from my account.

No-one knew. This is the FREE CREDIT REPORT people and there is nothing free about it. I have been trying to cancel for three months...Make sure whatever you do you (get a confirmation email). I had to call for two days straight and talk to several people before they would send me one and I still will be checking my statements. There # is 800-388-8725

I went to the actual free site last year, and got my free annual report. but this year, I got a number, but no place to put it in. Meanwhile, my wife went to te free site, and they redirected her to the freecreditreport site, and she didn't put in anything. these crooks stole her credit card number, and proceeded to rip her off, right out of her bank account. she called, and they said they would refund the money, but we went to the bank and got her a new card, as the old one is comprised now. I tried to send them an angry email, but that doesn't work either. what a rip off! their commercial is real cute, but the business practices are quite shady, and most criminal. Here is the clincher...my bank manager tells me there is no legal way he can show me my credit report, or even tell me what it says! This has New World Order written all over it, folks. don't fall for their spiel, you will get ripped off.

I got chatged 14.95 for what was to be a free credit report. I did not think it would cost me for a FREE report.
Please take the cost off my credit card and I do not want any more taken from my account. Please remove me from that service .
Thank you

I work for a legal department for a large advertising firm and the best thing you can do is to go to the better business bureau and file a complaint. They will mediate the issue.

I also was scammed by their "free" credit report... and then automatically billed every month after the first 30 days (they catch you with the fine print). I didn't notice the charges when they were mixed in with other charges but this pass month I had not used my credit card at all and that was when I noticed the CIC triple advantage charge. Your credit card can't do anything and luckily I called 877-481-6825 and got ahold of a competent person...after being on hold for about 15 minutes listening to wedding music. I canceled the "service" and was at least able to get a refund on this latest charge.

I don't want the headache of continuing on about the past charges but if you do my advice: GO TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! Once you file they will contact CIC within 2 days and force them to answer within 3 weeks to either give you a settlement or at the very least a quick response.

They got me for two months!! Here is what you do call 877-481-6825 select the prompt to speak with a representitve then when you have them on the phone tell them you will file fraud charges with your bank unless the refund the ENTIRE amount of money because if you don't they will offer to give you a "courtesy refund" of one months fees. BE PERSISTENT!! Request your customer ID number then tell them to transfer you to the ESCALTIONS DEPT. They will leave you on hold for at least 20-25 minutes but wait it out when that rep answers give her your name and customer ID, again explain to her or him that if they do not refund the entire amount you WILL FILE FRAUD CHARGES!! Got every dime of mine back just going to take 7-10 days to get it. Also just a side note they will not give out there last names but the do have employee numbers make sure you get it just in case. GOOD LUCK ALL GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!! ROTTEN THEIVES

I noticed the same thing today. I phoned them and requested cancellation of this account I didn't even know existed. The woman on the other end attempted in vain to get me to keep my account open, advising me that they are monitoring my credit. After much attempt on my part to get the cancellation, I was told I'd get an email that would cancel my account in 30 days and no other charges would go through. I then called my bank and filed a complaint. I also cancelled my card and am getting a new one so they are unable to continue charging my account. This is completely ridiculous. Good luck to everyone.

This "Company" is charging my account $12.00 per month, and I never used the service! Never completed any forms, or gave any authorizations! How in hell do I stop the charge from my checking account?
75 days ago by Reality Check [send email]
Stop bitchin and moaning and call them up. Ask them to cancel the account and to refund your money. That's it.

It takes all of two minutes, and if you're cool about it, they'll take care of you. If you sit there and bitch and moan, and piss them off, it's on you. They were actually helpful.

I got them to refund 2 months of charges that I didn't sign up for ( I got the free Triple package initially) with no problems.

Peace and stop complaining. Being lazy may be free, but it'll cost you more in the end.

These guys are awful. It's all part of FreeCreditReport.com, which is alledgedly owned by Experian. Pretty shady behaviour for a credit reporting agency. I called today to try and cancel and the representative, although unpleasant, assured me there would be no further charges, although he said he could not refund any fees as I have already used the service. I never used the service.

The same happening to both me and my mother. I called 1-877-481-6826 and cancelled both accounts. I also requested a refund and they would refuse. I simply said that their company was ripping off people. I also said that their webpage does not clearly state that there will be a charge. They kept refusing to refund me my money but i simply refused a no for an answer. Simply call and be patient...also try not to be rude but make sure a you demand you money...They can give you back your money. I received all my money back for both me and my mothers account. Also if you google "CIC Triple Advantage" you can see other links that will help you on ways to talk to them...

I also made the mistake of not reading the small print that is located on the home page, and only the home page, of the freecreditreport.com web site. Please read:

"When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period*, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership.

ConsumerInfo.com and Freecreditreport.com are not affiliated with the annual free credit report program. Under a new Federal law, you have the right to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies. To request your free annual report under that law, you must go to www.annualcreditreport.com."

So you see, you will be billed within one week of receiving your "free" credit report. No matter what you do on this site, you are going to be signed up for a membership unless otherwise contacting the company to unsubscribe.

If I recall correctly though, I was never informed that I was *paying* for anything! I just started getting charged on my MasterCard. It took my googling the charges from a "CIC Triple Advantage" to discover what I was being billed for and what I needed to do about it.

What shady business tactics!! I called the 877 number and spoke with a representative who seemed to really hate his job. I was not rude or angry with him but he would not reverse the charges nor stop a pending one for the month (it was the 3rd). I was adament that I had been charged for services I wasn't aware of and hadn't ever used. I said that I would take my complaints to the FTC and BBB and he said, "okay."

So I filed my complaint with ftccomplaintassistant.gov (and you should too) as well as the Better Business Bureau, I've told all my friends to beware of "free" credit reports (annualcreditreport.com is the federally madated, truly free credit report), and I vow never to do business with Triple Advantage or Experian.

Much aggrieved,
Amy

I have the same complaint as above. I have contacted my credit card company to deny any more charges for a service I did not receive nor want.

Have you tried reporting your debit/credit card lost or stolen due to the unauthorized transactions? Because usually that will close the account and then when they try to process the transaction it would likely be declined. I was also enrolled in this service because of FreeCreditReport.com but I guess I'm in a minority because they actually cancelled my service first time around. My friend had slightly more problems with them. She said that when she went to cancel the service they had completely changed their website.

I just talked to a rep who was very hard to understand and who also tried to tell me how important the service was that they were stealing my money from me for was. I finally, after being very persisitent got her to cancel my account. I am waiting on my confirmation e-mail now. Here's hoping.
