CIC is billing me monthly for a service I do not use, do not need and can't seem to stop. I will call them, write them, report them to the BBB and to the attorney general. Shame on CIC!

Here's a new one. Unaware of this scam, my husband ordered his "free" credit report, and we now have three months worth of a $14.95 charge on one of our credit cards. We called to cancel -- they did... we'll see when next month's statement comes. We asked for a refund, rep says he isn't authorized, got a supervisor on the line. Her spin? We "had" to have put in a credit card number to be billed for their ridiculous service. My husband never put in a credit card number. They work with Experian -- they have all that info anyways!! So her spin on it is that "you have to put in your cc info during the process" so therefore, so one else used our card to get the credit report and we must take it up with our cc company. Bullsh*t!
Next on the line is the BBB and FTC.

I called 3 mos. ago and canceled . They keep billing my credit card. I have e-mailed them. I did get a reply, so I printed it out and sent it to my credit card company. Now, MAYBE it will stop being billed to my card.

I do not know what CIC* TripleAdvantage is: all I know is
that this is getting to be a pain. This company is taking
money from my bank account and this must stop I only make enough to cover my bills and my account is getting overdraft charges and now I need to know how I get my money back and make them refund all these overdraft charges.

Was stupid enough to sign up for freecreditreport.com... I called to cancel a few hours later after a long wait on hold. Got a confirmation number but it sort of sounded like she was making it up. No charges yet but I'm very worried they will come.

This is unbelievable. I'm so glad I found this webpage so I could one, figure out where it was coming from and two, get it taken care of right away and be wary of whether the cancellation went through. After all of these complaints I can't believe they are still in business and haven't been sued yet. Amazing and terrible.

p.s. I posted a few of these complaints on my blog to help spread the word. I think the only way to fight this is to make as many people aware of the problem so they are more careful with what they agree to in the fine print in the future. It would be nice if we can help others from letting it happen to them. <p>

I just called the 1-877-481-6825 for CIC and told them if they did not credit me back the amount charged to my credit card that I would turn them in the Better Business Bureau and let them know how many websites are showing there fraud for what it is. They QUICKLY credited the money back.

I too was scammed. I'm a poor college student and it's horrible how they sneak you into paying for a service you do not knowingly authorize. I remember saying to my mother before I signed up for freecreditreport, "Why do they need my credit card number? Will they charge me?" Even my mother was duped (and she's a lawyer!)

I called the 1-877-481-6825 number and received someone immediately. He didn't try to throw offers at me or anything which was nice.

A lot of the people who have posted on this complaint have been told that they would be refunded their money. When I asked to be refunded they told me no because I agreed to their terms of service. I then asked them why others were refunded, and yet I am not. He never answered, he just reiterated the "terms of service" excuse.

I was sure to get a confirmation number, the customer service guy's name, and an immediate confirmation email so I can go after them if they ever charge me again. I've also filed a dispute with my credit card (because it's the principle of the thing, even if it is 14.95.)

Yep.. me too! I have been trying for 2 months to get the $29.99 charge off my visa; after reading these post', I don't ever remember giving them an account number either!? I've emailed at least 10 times, even mailed in a very discrete statement with THEIR charge on it. I got so many different stories ..they are going to "stop billing my account" Great!! But I still want that intial charge removed! Thanks for the number, I too will try and see if I can get anywhere! Thanks.

I called the same number and canceled. Of course the lady tried to tell me that I should cancel, but just be strong and tell them that you want to. I to am hoping that the 12.95 doesn't show up anymore on my account. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

I just checked my credit card account, and I too have been charged for two months of service, for $12 each. I called the number listed on the 2nd page here, and spoke with "Jake" who kept repeating that "I had read the website, I agreed to those terms of service." I was a real b*tch, said that I did NOT authorize this service, that it should be canceled immediately, and that I needed my $24 refunded immediately. Jake kept repeating that he could cancel my service, but that they absolutely could not refund my money.

I kept pushing him, saying no, you need to refund this immediately, I will be calling the BBB, etc. This still wasn't working so I kept insisting to speak to his supervisor. He would not put me through, saying he had already canceled my service and I wouldn't be charged anymore, and that there was nothing I needed to speak with his supervisor about.

I kept insisting to speak to his supervisor, he said, "well fine, they are all in a meeting, so you'll have to hold over an hour. " I told him I would wait, so he threw me on hold. About 30 seconds later, he came back on the line, said my account had been refunded and I would not be charged anything in the future.

So... if you call, are persistant, tell them you will report them, ask to speak to a supervisor, and just act furious and angry, they will eventually give you what you want.

What a bunch of crooks.

Yup. THIEVES. I was told the same thing. They will not refund my money, so I just reported them to the BBB and to the FTC. I am so angry at being SCAMMED! Especially since they misrepresent themselves as Experian, and they are SUPPOSED to be an agency that helps people to NOT get scammed. And, here they are - worst of the WORST. I am also going to cancel the credit card because they have been absolutely no help. They have basically said I'm on my own trying to get these LYING CHEATS to refund my money.

HOW IS THIS LEGAL?!!! I have the same problem with CIC Triple Advantage charging me every month for something I NEVER asked for!!
153 days ago by Marie [send email]
RE: "HOW IS THIS LEGAL?!!!"
I wondered the same thing myself. Why haven't they been stopped?!?! There are hundreds of stories on this one website alone about people being ripped off by these scam artists. It can not be legal for someone to misrepresent themselves in order to steal money from unsuspecting people.
I imagine most people are like myself - don't have much money, live day to day, and wanted to make sure my credit report was correct. These are the people they are stealing from. Nice.
