Charged for products - not received!
Complaint Rating: 89 % with 100 votes
I ordered the trial of vitamins when I ordered Pro Active Solution. I finally received my trial like a month later. Then right after that was charged for another shipment ( $33.94) - It has been 2 weeks and 5 days. I haven't received anything. I still have not completed the trial - because it arrived very late. I'm trying to find a way to contact this company so I can discontinue automatic payments and shipments.

Call 888-684-9660. After a long wait an english speaking rep. did get to the phone. I cancelled my order and asked for a confimation number on my cancellation. She couldn't provide a confirmation no. but she did give me my customer number and her name as reference to my call. Found it to easy to be true after reading all these stories so I called back to double check that my order was cancelled and it was.

As I was on hold, I thought of how nice my skin, hair and nails were when I was pregnant and I logged onto GNC searched for prenatal vitamins-comapred it to the vital clear box-guess what-same active ingredients. So if you feel the vitamins are doing you justice, I suggest prenatals are the way to go. At least your credit card won't get charged without your knowledge. And there is a GNC in every corner. And I'm pretty sure a local Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens or CVS also carries well known prenatals.

888-848-2797 & 888-684-9660, after painful waiting for over one and half an hour, I hang up the phone. After that, I tried to call 760-773-9022 which is the number of Guthy-Renker, I finally had a chance to talk to person. It's like rainbow after rain, by the way.
I asked her to put me through to a customer representative. And then I talked to the CR, her atitude is very good. It was not difficult for me to cancel Vita Clear, and I asked her to give me a call after confirmation. Hope this time works and here I just want to give a advice on how to cancel.

Hey Guys!! so i just called this # 888 848 2797, waited no more then 5mins...spoke to a young lady named Jamie. who pretty much explained to me that i would have 1 more payment then after that no more...she specifically said that she put it in her system as cancelled under her name so if anything were to go wrong it would come back on her...i asked if i could have a faxed document saying that i cancelled it, but she said they dont offer any type of docs saying order was cancelled.

So im trusting that everything will be handled...i suggest u all call that # asap.

Peace

Vita Clear is a ripoff!!! I called to cancel my order two weeks ago and told them that I was going to return my shipment. Tom, Operator #3578, NEVER said that I would be charged an additional $33.94 on January 13th, probably before they received my returned order. I called today and got Tom, Operator #3578, again. He argued with me in a very condecending tone that he did tell me of the additional charge. All of this AFTER I had been on hold for 30 minutes. After trying to talk to Tom, Operator #3578, for 10 minutes I asked if I could speak with a supervisor. He said he needed a reason why. I told him I wanted to speak to the supervisor about the additional charge. He told me THAT wasn't a reason. After asking several times to speak to a supervisor he let out a huge sigh (highly unprofessional) and said ok and he didn't think it would do any good. He left me on hold for 2 minutes and came back and said that no supervisor was available and he could not keep me on hold any longer. I offered to wait, several times. Tom, Operator #3578, said it was against their policy to keep a person on hold longer than 2 minutes to wait for a supervisor and he was not going to let me get him into trouble. Are you kidding me???? My bank is right now persuing unauthorized charges on my credit card from these jokers and I have had to cancel that card and get a different one from my bank (at my banks recommendation) DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT!!!! Is Tom, Operator #3578, the only employee they have??? I have never been treated so badly by a customer service representative. Isn't the whole idea behind customer service......CUSTOMER SERVICE????? Proactive should not have their name associated with a company which screws customers the way Vita Clear does.

I have had the same experience as all of you with Vita-Clear. I tried to cancel everything with Pro-Active & was told they were not connected to the vitamin co. I have try 2 times to cancel the Vita-Clear thrue their customer service numbers 888-848-2797. Today once again they told me that they were canceling the shipment, I will wait and see, if not I will be calling STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S office and file a complaint.

I agree this company sucks! I tried canceling my order but they have me on hold for ever and never get to talk to anyone. I called 888-848-2797 but no one ever answers. Does anyone have another suggestion?

I had the same problem with majority of the people on this forum. I called and called and called 1-888-848-2797. I even remembered it. I just wanted the no strings attached trial but the problem is getting a hold of these people. WTF, if you know what i mean. So called proactive and tried them to speak with the reps there no luck. They told me it was a different company WTF. I want a refund for the 2 months of supplies that I DIDN'T touch. I'll try again tommorrow this time early like 8 am.

I want to cancel my order but to this day, I have not been able to do so. This is the second time I get Vita clear vitamins and I still have an unused box. What is the deal with this company???

I ordered Proactiv in the end of December. After waiting 3 weeks to get it... it came... then 2 weeks after came the Vita Clear. I thought I'd try it out.. but they have made me very sick even eating large meals with them as well. So I called Proactiv to cancel... and now when I try to call the Vita Clear number, their systems are down and you can only email them. I do not want to get charged for this so I will be changing my debit card number TODAY after hearing everyones complaints. Hopefully I won't fall victim to this scam!

Please everyone file a Complain to http://welcome.bbb.org/ or bbb.org it's the Better Business Bureau. I'm very dissapointed with both VitaClear and Proactive.

I had the same problem. I tried to cancel and they kept charging me and not even sending the vitamins. I finally had to dispute this with the credit card company and had to cancel my credit card in order to stop it. This company should be investigated by the better business bureau.

I had just got off the phone not even a minute ago after calling 1-888-848-2797. I spoke with a rep named Oakiea (I even asked her to spell it just in case) and she told me that since their system is down, she would just have to take my name, address and phone number and relate that to her supervisor so that those guys in turn can put it into their system once it's back up. She said they would call me when it's done...

If they don't call me within a couple of days, I'm definitely calling back. Their system has been down for some time and it's only today that anyone can actually get through to customer service.

I also tried to do the proactive trial and i'd always be charged way in advance of getting the actual product... so i cancelled my membership... i just go to the mall now and buy it... its cheaper there and you can pay cash they don't require it to be set up for monthly payments.

I called the 1-888-848-2797 number. They told me to return the unopened product to:

95 Old Shoals Rd
Arden, NC 28704

When you send it, request a receipt.

You still need to call them to cancel the account. They said they would reimburse my account once they receive the product.

I am just like all of you... and Vita Clear had took my money.(so I called Vita Clear and they hung up on me and said there was nothing that they could do). so I figured I would go to guthy-renker.com to take it up with them.. It did take a few days to get a response but I finally just got an email back saying i will get my $67.88 back. and a sorry!

You all should do the same if you guys don't get results.

I just cancelled right now after hearing all this! I'm glad I was forewarned. I was going to cancel anyway, but give it a week or so but I just did it right now. That's crazy stuff!! Also, the product make me feel like I'm going to throw up after I take them. I mean, within minutes. So I've stopped taking them anyway. How f@#&ed up!

I haven't tried this product, and after reading your remarks I will not order it along with the rest of my Proactiv...HOWEVER I have numerous comments to make about angry people on here who let their irritation override logic.

#1) If you mail in a written cancellation, keep a copy and be sure to send it certified mail. This isn't pricey and it requires the recipient to sign for the letter. The signed card is then mailed back to you by the postal service. This provides you with solid proof that you did in fact cancel. You stating that you sent something won't hold up in a legal dispute, but physical proof will.

#2) The statement regarding Vitaclear on the Proactiv website states "When you order, you'll automatically be registered to receive a fresh 60-day supply of VitaClear vitamins every two months and you'll lock in the special low price of just $29.95 plus $3.99 s&h a month. " This clearly states that orders are placed in 2-month increments, with $29.95 being charged for each of the 2 months. For the person who said that having a disclaimer doesn't make it legal: yes it does. That is the purpose of a disclaimer. And it's up to the consumer to be responsible for reading all information associated with an agreement. Admittedly, I don't always read everything--but if I'm hit with a surprise, it's clearly my fault for not reading the material given to me. If you are old enough to place credit card orders, then you are old enough to assume personal responsibilty as an adult. Crying "That's not fair" is no longer an effective argument past the toddler years.

#3) If two or more companies have the same owner, that doesn't mean that one can make decisions or take action on behalf of the other. There are many examples of this in the business world. Just one example: Victoria's Secret, C.O. Bigelow, Bath & Body Works, Henri Bendel, La Senza, and The White Barn Candle Co. are all owned by Limited Brands Inc. Would a person be able to take a Victoria's Secret bra into Bath & Body Works and receive a refund? Absolutely not. While owned by the same parent company, each of these brands are separate entities. Just as Proactiv and Vitaclear are.

#4) If personal responsibility is taken for a misunderstanding, a documented cancellation is submitted, and your credit card is charged again AFTER the last 60-day (2 payment) cycle is completed. Then and only then do you have an argument that would hold water in a legal argument. At this point you can submit a fraud claim with your bank, charges will be refunded and a new account number will be issued, and your bank will send you an affadavit for you to fill out and return. At this point you can send them a COPY of your cancellation claim and proof of receipt along with you personal statement--and voila!--all of this material will have dates and nothing can be disputed. The company would be held accountable for the charges and you will be free. No need to complain, no need to sue...when the proper steps are taken it can all be handled in a clean, simple, and professional matter. But then again if all terms of the agreement were read, then there might not even be a need to take these extra steps.

The whole point here is that when you use your credit card (in any manner) you are taking responsibility for it. Even if you fall for an Internet scam and get ripped off, yes it's illegal and wrong that these people did that to you, but YOU were the fool who handed over your information. So when a legitimate company lays out the terms of a purchase agreement, and you agree to the terms by handing over your information, it is you who is responsible.

Hopefully this helped some people understand the workings of business or the way to handle fraud issues, but at the very least I hope it gave people something to think about.

I am experiencing the same problem. My only complaint is that I did read the automatic shipment clause when I ordered the free sample. However, what the vitaclear offer does not state is that the vitamins are offered through another company and you cannot cancel shipments through Proactiv. I called Proactiv 2 weeks ago to cancel my account with them. I thought by cancelling my account with proactiv it would effectively take care of the Vitamins. Unfortunately it didn't. When my bank account was charged I contacted Proactiv and was then notified that the vitamins were sold through a different company. I also became very sick after taking the vitamins for 4 days. so I too have the free 30 day supply and 180 day supply of vitamins coming to my house.

For Mandy B., great information. However, you can lose the condescending attitude. I'm sure if half of these people were fully disclosed of where their product was coming from there would not be as many complaints on this bulletin as there are.
