I have just bought a new prepaid Airtel chip (No. 99031-7607X). I wanted to know the GPRS settings. First of all navigating through the IVR of Airtel is painful because you have to wait till the voice stops parroting. Then, if by chance you enter a number (option) twice, you get disconnected. When you do choose, for example, English Language, you don't get an option to connect to Customer Care. Only after I learned that you must dial the secret number "9" at the secret point in the IVR do you get connected to Customer Care.

The Customer Care really don't care about the customer. Perfect parrot in practiced English dictions, a little off-beat question confuses them thoroughly. They put you on hold and ask their supervisor. In my case, I was told to dial 7070 for technical assistance. I asked whether the number was toll-free and "yes" came the reply.

I called 7070. They had no idea regarding GPRS settings (AND THEY CALL THEMSELVES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE?) and asked weird and vague questions and finally said they had no idea regarding my question. Ah well! I always knew they were dumb. After hanging up, I was shocked to see my balance depleted for Rs 26.xx for a less than 10 min call.

Moral of the story: Don't trust Airtel. Don't buy Airtel. If you can't afford Hutch, go without a phone. Hire a messenger to send your messages. Above all, don't call customer care and waste your time. Buy some other card. Even an out-of-state on roam SIM.

One of the most painful mobile service provider in the country. I hope they get wiped out by Idea & Vodaphone. Go for Idea or Vodaphone for better service. Hope they start the no. portability soon, Airtel will lose their customer base very fast. Most of the people hold on to their existing providers as they don't want to change their nos and go through the process of contacting everyone with their new numbers. In order to improve customer experience and have better services, it is very important for the regulators to put in place systems for customers to dump bad service providers and move on to better service providers in a hassle-free manner. Down with Airtel!!!

THIS IS NOT AIRTEL CUSTOMER CARE!!!
This is some fraud individual or organization. They call up people posing as cust. care executives and ask for personal information on the pretext that they need to perform a verification. This no is active in Delhi (appears to be a Noida no "0120") but I'm pretty sure that there are others throughout the country.

REMEMBER. No matter what, customer care people are not supposed to ask u information except ur name. So NEVER give out personal info such as address, house no password for b'band and anything. No matter how trivial the information u should never give it away.

And anyway customer care standard procedure does not allow asking for personal information of any sort. Even if it's Airel cust care never tell them anything except ur name. U CANNOT TRUST AIRTEL OR ANY OTHER COMPANY IN MATTERS LIKE THESE. After all they are just making money!!!

Airtel Customer Service is Pathetic.
I have asked Airtel to discontinue my postpaid service as I was moving out of the Country for a while.
Customer Care Confirms that by January-15-2008 number will be disconnected. I paid all the dues till that time frame hoping that i wont get the bill again.
But what a shock even at July-20-2008 I am still receiving the bills.
Every month they sent a bill to me and I reply to that mail that this number has been discontinued and I won’t pay the bill.
Just want to know, how to file the complaint in Consumer Court for harassing me for sending the bill for the disconnected line.

Dear Concerned Person,

Myself is Amit Kapila working as Agency Manager in Bharti Axa Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Mohali. I bought new airtel (Postpaid) corporate connection (09779091702) through Bharti Axa on 10th of July, 2008. I submitted my two proofs. My Driving License copy as a ID Proof and as my address proof i have submitted in written on my Company's Letter Head as per instructions given by your corporate dealer in Chandigarh i.e. Strategic Marketing Co. Ltd., Sector - 17, Chandigarh. On my License, there was our old address and verification executive gone to our that old address as i already told them that the address i have given on my company's letter head that is our present & permanent address. On 13th of july, outgoing barred on my number, then i called up Customer Care Executive & Dealer (SMPL) for then they told me that i have to submit documents again. On 16th i have submitted my same two documents to executive of SMPL (Mr. Bhuvesh & Mr. Laxman) as per instructions by them. They told me that your number (09779091702) will in service again till 12PM (Midninght of 16th July). My number got service again on 17th of July. Now, after five days again i am facing same problem. My outgoing again barred on 22nd July. Kindly confirm from your dealer that why they are harassing me and making scene again and again.

I already have 3 more connections of Airtel at my home 2 postpaid & 1 Prepaid. But till date we never face any problem. But now, we are facing very much problem due to mistake of Airtel Dealer.

If this number (09779091702) will not get any service again then i will not pay any single peny or any outstanding payment against this number (09779091702) as i have already escalted this number (09779091702) in my corporate circle & Friend Circle.
You can better understand how much problem i am facing.

Kindly arrange to confirm from dealer or please activate outgoing call facility on this number (09779091702) at the earliest possible.

Hi,

This is amrish singh and my airtel mobile no is 9910780485.Pls dont trust on airtel connection.
The airtel customercare service is very-2 poor..I have problem in my airtel connection.Customercare service is not availale on my airtel connection.When i call cust.care from my another airtel connections and does complaint.The cust.care executive says,
in 24 hour the cust.care facility will be avilable on your mobile.I am requesting from 1 month . But my request was denied all times. They all are useless fellow.I can't get any information from airtel cust.care.What benifit from airtel cust care service.All airtel cust care executive is very lazy.So i decided i will disconnect my airtel prepaid or postpaid connections.

Airtel is a big cheat...i recently changed my plan from 699 combo to 399 combo. previously my call rates were 1 rupee/min. now they r charging Rs 2.4 /min. when i asked them bout the high rate they said it was because of plan change. and instead of informing me during the change they said it was my duty to ask. total fraud. at the time of connection also they cheated. they promised 256 Kbps while i am getting only 64. I wish i had recorded that representatives' voice. I swear i would have shown this company their real status. now i am getting my phone disconnected. at the time of installation i was told about Rs. 200 refund on return of the modem which is now blatantly denied. i request all u people out there to disown this company as soon as possible. Robbers...

I came to India and started using the Airtel prepaid card. After using the card I had exactly the same experience that other people mentioned above regarding hopeless / 3rd grade service offered by Airtel. Too much of talking on Voice Menu options and no possibility to break into customer care representative till the time you press 9 at a point. CC representatives not very helpful in indentifying and resolving problem rather asked me to dial the same number again and look for the option that is not even there (I called them after trying 4-5 times).
Finally I visited their store in vasant vihar, delhi where I was told that my issue will be resolved within 24 hours and document will be sent to my house in within this time frame. Nothing happened and after 2 days I went to the store again and this time I heard another story on the issue, finally the CC agent tracked the problem and this time told me to come back to the store to collect my document (cheque) from the store itself. She does not know when it was not sent to my house when it was already promised by the agent 2 days ago.

I am happy to provide more inputs if needed. (Previous interaction with them via email from abroad was also not good).

I have taken connection of Airtel Prepaid card at IIT Kharagpur
The employees of Airtel came to me and taken filled up form alongwith one photograph.Now the same person every asking me for another photo graph. Yesterday I received one message from Airtel if I wont submit form then connection will be disconnected. I have disgusted with behaviour of the employee of the Airtel as well service of Airtel. My Experience with AIRTEL, Orissa is also same as above complaints. Customers Care are careless for Customers. They dont respond to your complaints. They just suck your money in the name of various offers which sometime do not materialises. I have a bitter experience which I am still fighting with them. Feel to stop subscribing to Airtel. I dont think Mr.Sunil Mittal is aware of Customers plights.

all above complaint are 100% correct airtel people are total waste in my area half of the time gprs is noty working if you complain they have one answer server is no working? or tower has some fault ? but they dont know who will mend it? but they are the first one to cut charges...
