I have just bought a new prepaid Airtel chip (No. 99031-7607X). I wanted to know the GPRS settings. First of all navigating through the IVR of Airtel is painful because you have to wait till the voice stops parroting. Then, if by chance you enter a number (option) twice, you get disconnected. When you do choose, for example, English Language, you don't get an option to connect to Customer Care. Only after I learned that you must dial the secret number "9" at the secret point in the IVR do you get connected to Customer Care.

The Customer Care really don't care about the customer. Perfect parrot in practiced English dictions, a little off-beat question confuses them thoroughly. They put you on hold and ask their supervisor. In my case, I was told to dial 7070 for technical assistance. I asked whether the number was toll-free and "yes" came the reply.

I called 7070. They had no idea regarding GPRS settings (AND THEY CALL THEMSELVES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE?) and asked weird and vague questions and finally said they had no idea regarding my question. Ah well! I always knew they were dumb. After hanging up, I was shocked to see my balance depleted for Rs 26.xx for a less than 10 min call.

Moral of the story: Don't trust Airtel. Don't buy Airtel. If you can't afford Hutch, go without a phone. Hire a messenger to send your messages. Above all, don't call customer care and waste your time. Buy some other card. Even an out-of-state on roam SIM.

Airtel is good for nothing. I was complaining to stop all the unwanted calls and sms alerts. I complained with customer care so many times and still they are not able to stop that. I am paying more than Rs. 4500 per month and they are not able to provide a good services to a customer. They just want the publics money and cheating the public with poor service. One of the worst service provider in India.

I am using my Airtel connection for one and half years, and I am satisfied too. The problem is , Once a lost an amount of Rs 10 from my balance and got a message some service is renewed. Then I inquire about this thought customer care and they convince me about the service and why the money is lost and assure to deactivate the service as per my request. But assurance is a fake one and still now I am suffering due to that service and i am paying Rs 10 for the service. My statement is " Only because of being a customer of Airtel I am not supposed loose Rs10 from my balance".

I agree with everyone here that Airtel's customer care service is the biggest lie in this world.

I don't know if its pertinent here but I would like to tell everyone here that I've been CHEATED by Airtel broadband division and please never ever think of using their broadband service. In fact I have discovered that their billing system is fraudulent and they are charging bogus calls (in some cases) and DSL usage (definite) from customers. They intelligently add units to your DSL usage to your account.

But my main problem was, that they changed my plan from unlimited to a limited one without any reason and without my permission..which caused a bill of more than 2 thousand rupees for a month. Why? because I had no clue that I am not using my original plan but the one changed by some silly staff person in Airtel enjoying his freedom of expression.

I am chasing this issue with Airtel for the past two months but no success. They promise, give their names, give personal promises, escalate but never call back on the issue a single time. I've spent my time at least 50 times calling and repeatedly explaining the case history to different people..and what I've got... I CANNOT USE MY ACCOUNT.. NO INTERNET.. NO LANDLINE..cause it was disconnected after due date.. as its not resolved as yet. I have no hope with this company I'll never use AIRTEL in my life for any service once I am out of this sh*t...

Hey guys u really don't know my tragedy with these airtel 'M... fu**ers' as***les these sluts n whores. They have activated missed call alert on my no. Since 5 months although i never requested 4 it. On 27th of every month an sms comes sayin thankyou 4 using airtel MCA, and rs 15 is deducted from my account. I have been complaining since 5 months but to no avail. Every time they take a complaint and ask me to wait for 48hr. Every time i have to explain the whole matter to the new c.c. Executive. These whores... Now i am planning to send them a legal notice.

I have requested for GE199+99 AND GE249 PLAN however it was activated under MANIPAL PLAN.

I feel communication is missing in AIRTEL .

I have been requesting to do the needful since 2 months .
All of you must learn how to handle customer first .

Very very poor response from AIRTEL and AIRTEL persons.

FYI We approached Airtel postpaid billing center several times to pay our bill, but every time customer care guys are insisting that server down.

Then we received the due date SMS from Airtel stating u are in over due.

After then we decided to pay by online. We payed the bill amount by online from a browsing center. Practically it is not possible to all to pay by online every time.

So pl appreciate my request to speed up the process to rectify the server down issue in all areas.

We find the server down issue in choolaimedu, Nungambakam area Chennai.

Since problem lies in your side. Pls accept our receipt with out any penalty.

Airtel kolkata is pathetic. Sends you sms to recharge today to get some offer. once you recharge it will just swallow the amount an won't give you any benefit... you can't find any customer care type of thing... they are just to comply with some TRAI rule... they are just useless... they will say that that particular offer is not applicable to your mobile... I ask then why hell they send such deceptive offer through SMS... simply to cheat people and make revenue... you will simply waste your time... beware of these crooks... recharge only you want your money to sink...

I have made request to Airtel to stop all promotional calls by sending " STOP DND" to 121 on 12.10.07. I have got confirmation code 79538. On 12.10.07 at I have got SMS from Airtel that my complain is registered NDNC is S1000421701 & it was confimed that all promotional calls & messages shall be stopped with in 45 days. My problems could not resolved. I gain contacted Airetel over 121 on 02.12.07. On 03.12.07, I again recived message that Under service complain no. 14746779, my complain is registered and saying that Airetl now contact me on 03.Jan2008, 1000 Hrs. No response from Airtel.
