My mother received flowers for her 82nd birthday today. The card had a message on it but was unsigned. A call to the delivering florist asking the identity of the sender was met with questions of her own. The shop owner had earlier tried to contact 1800flowers to find the same answer. Chick at 1800flowers said she could not give out the name of the sender. I told the florist I would call later and find out myself. I called this evening and spoke to a nice young lady. She also was unable to give me the name of the sender citing their privacy policy. She called the sender and tried to get an OK to give out his name. He was not home. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I waited for a LONG time until I was "DISCONNECTED" before the supervisor got to me. I immediately called back, spoke to Chris and said I wanted to know NOW the name of the sender. And to give me a supervisor please. Soon, Kyle came on the line and again cited the privacy policy. What about my mother's privacy? I explained the situation our family had been going thru the last few years and we would like to know if this was again a police matter. He told me if I was that upset to call the police! I doubt that Kyle would even give the police the name of the sender. Hey I guess no one you know has ever been stalked and harassed and taunted. Protect the anonymous sender... fine... you won't see me at ANY of your conglomerate sites... ever.

It breaks my heart that a company that has been around as long as 800F has gone to the dogs… I wish I had checked reviews before hand. It truly is a sadden shame.

I agree. They use to be the number one florist and now they are one of the worst. One of the problems is hiring overseas processors who do not understand english. Hour long waits on the phone for a simple request or question. I was put on hold for 10 times, it was awful.

When this company had american employees who spoke english, the company ran smooth.

It is terrible how so many of our companies now have such poor customer service due to the hiring of non american workers in India and the philippines. Paying cheap doesn't always work.

Same thing just happened to me, I called literally 8 different times and they won’t tell me. They called the guy and he said he doesn’t want me to know. I had some guy come into my work asking for me the other day! This is creepy! This policy is BS! Will be going to cops tomorrow and hopefully they can figure this out…don’t know how seriously they will take me but fingers crossed. It’s a very uneasy feeling.

Your freaking out for no reason. Take the gesture as what it is. Your grandmother or anyone of you guys had a right to deny acceptance of the flowers. Whether the person sends you flowers or not. If they are stalker, they are stalker regardless of sending you flowers. Some people feel that mystery and intrigue might make her feel good that someone actually may possibly know her. Did you ask your grandmother how she feels about them. If a stalker wanted to do any ill will they would send you a rock with a note on it through your window at your home! :)

If I had a stalker (and I have many) I'd rather them send me flowers and be done with it. I have gotten a lot of unsolicited gifts BC my family and I were pretty well known in our parts and I'd say thanks to whoever sent me this beautiful arrangement and possibly they might have the balls to approach me. I have gotten flowers and cards from people professing their love to me when they have met me once. BC, I am good tipper of have some class as through their eyes. WHen I was 18 I had a card and flowers on my car. And, I worked for this apartment complex. They were read roses so its romantic and a card telling me about himself, his age, he must have been ten years or a little older than me. Some Military guy, as I remember it was of decent rank and he said he came in to get a package and thought I was so beautiful and sweet and he lives in unit "who knows now" after 27 years later. i actually still look like in my late 20's and early 30's and that's why I always have these young kids that pursue me as friends. One of my girlfriends was like "That's not fair you Asians can be whatever age you want. Most people say they can tell how old I am when I speak. BC, I am told that I am very intelligent as well. :). Yes, I can rub my own ego. Ha ha. But yea, he said that he would love it if I would let him take me out and put his number on it and said if I didn't call him. He promised he would never bother me again. And, he didn't, besides I never stay at a job very long, not even after I got recruited from grad school straight from the .com boom.

It's a kind gesture and take it as it is, rather then over doing the attention seeking thing letting everyone know she got anonymous flowers recycle them then. Maybe the lady in the next room over doesn't have any flowers and tell her your grandmother wanted to hope her a speedy recovery and asked you her nephew or whoever you are to grab her a nice bouquet and you hope this brightens her day. Get over it! It's things like this that causes unnecessary drama and wars!

You clearly do not understand. You clearly have never had a stalker. My dad has one and she keeps sending him flowers from 1800 and even drove 3 hours at 4 am to confront him at our door, so no she’s not being “dramatic”. Being scared that some crazy person is going to hurt your family and then having a company protect THEM instead of you is something to be mad about. It’s not a kind gesture it’s creepy. Stop being such a narcissist.

Wow people are so insensitive. I just received anonymous flowers with a scary note saying they have been watching me and admiring me. Not flattering at all as a woman who works all kinds of hours. There should be a system to protect us from feeling vulnerable. They were delivered when I wasn't there so the argument to refuse delivery doesn't fly. And it not about the flowers, it the note and the intent behind it that males me afraid.

As so many have already said, if you're worried about a stalker, then call the police. Anonymous flowers are harmless.

Here's a link showing how much women actually love receiving anonymous flowers...https://www.quora.com/Women-What-does-it-feel-like-to-receive-flowers-unexpectedly

I'm just devastated that 1800flowers.com would take your money and not even live up to there guarantee of "available for same day delivery" I'm just at a lost for words hey failed to deliver my Valentines day order on 2/14 or 2/15 mind when I placed the order it said that it was available for same day delivery. I placed the order on 2/12/2008 and received a confirmation of the order on the same day. When I called them tonight on 2/15/2008 they're telling me that it will be delivered on Monday 2/18/2008. Monday is a holiday I'm not at work on that day and neither will she and I know dang well she is not going to accept a Happy Valentines Day gift on that day! I don't want that sorry ### apology they gave me. I'm stuck but I will be disputing the charges!

1800 Flowers not only failed to deliver 2 of 3 of my flower arrangements but they are also an un-American company. The original person that takes your order is wonderful and just so happens is an American. You think that everything is ok. Then someone calls you back stating that some of the orders will not be able to be delivered. So you have to call them back IN INDIA! Everyone you talk to is Indonesian. The reception is horrible! They are unfamiliar with policies and procedures.
It took me two days to finally cancel the 2 orders that they weren't going to be able to fill. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

If you have never been stalked, you have no idea of the mental anguish it inflicts on a person. It causes anxiety, paranoia, and depression among other mental illnesses. The stalker is not doing something "nice" but intentionally inflicting mental and emotional pain on the victim. The person who receives flowers from an anonymous person is not receiving a loving gift and is not living a "horrible life". It is terrorizing to have flowers delivered to one's door and then have the company refuse to assist in relieving your fears. Those of you who have not been stalked are ignorant about this issue. Educated yourselves before you write something that further demeans the victim. Yes, this is anonymously written because I live in fear of the stalker...it is CREEPY!

Yeah, i have to say you are foolish if you think someone stalking you is gonna spenf money on sending you flowers. Where is the logic? Seriously some of you people must be living a horrible life while doing some horrible things if you fear flowers from an anonymous person. Wow

Umm, they absolutely did the right thing. YOu don't have any right to know who anonymously sent flowers. It wasn't a bomb threat...it was FLOWERS. I would sue them if I had sent the flowers and they had given you my name. If you think it's a police matter...if you think it might be dangerous, then CALL THE POLICE AND REPORT IT. They handled it correctly.

A few of you are idiots. I'm referring to the ones who don't understand why getting anonymous flowers would be troubling. Are you really that stupid? Violent men stalk women. They stalk single, married and women in relationships. How can you be so stupid that you couldn't even think of this possibility. That is why we need to know who sent them.

the problem ...as a women who lives alone..knowing someone sent me flowers who doesn't want to be know is scary. that means they know my address where I live and if it were a true friend they wouldn't need to be anonymous they would simply out their name. its creepy. now I have to look over my shoulder.

I'm sending flowers to an old friend back home who I haven't spoken to for a year now. Why is it so bad to send flowers to someone? I want to hide my identity not because I'm a stalker. I just want them to know I'm sorry for everything and I wish them the best. People who send flowers needs privacy for all types of reasons. If you don't want to receive flowers from the company, then don't accept it. It's that simple! And by reading your post make me get scared to even send them out. I'm sure anyone will be scared to send flowers privately now if they didn't have the policy. So why have police involved? If you get threatened messages or repeated flower orders then yes call the police. But if no actually harm is done then let it go!

My girlfriend was going through a nasty divorce and having a bad run of luck with dating. As Valentines day rapidly approached, I sent her an anonymous bouquet. The message simply stated "You are stronger than you realize" I was able to keep it anonymous and her mood was lifted. It was a simple gesture that meant a lot. She called to find out who sent it and got the "privacy policy" response. The effects would not have been as good had she known it was from me.

I agree with the complaint. Just received flowers from Pro Flowers with no indication of who sent them. Called them and given the same privacy crap. Just wrote them a note as they are interfering with my rights by refusing to tell me as this is a stalker. Police are next, but no name to give them. Asked everyone with the information of my address, and sent by no-one. Had a stalker who drove from ND to PA (yes, drove here) when I told him I would call about strokes as had one of those early in the year and was heading into having a sternotomy. It may have been him, but at this point simply lost on who would be sending me anything, anonymously. This can be a serious matter for those of you simply hoping for anonymous gifts.

My daughter also recieved flowers from 1800flowers.com today 3/23. The card read "To the most beautiful women I have ever known." Well as a mother I believe this is inapropiriate for a young girl to recieve. I called 1800flowers.com and I was told the phone # (didn't have time to write it down) and that it was a man that placed the order but they had to contact him for approval to release his name. After waiting 6hours I called again and the rep said the first rep broke policy just giving me that information and they were still waiting for a response. They have tried to call 2 times, sent emails, and text messages and now almost 12 hours later still no response. I suppose it's the police department next. if any sugestions please email me @ barbara3webb@aol.com

Anyone in this situation should call Freed & Weiss to join a building class action against the company behind this scam. (It's pretty easy, just call them and tell them your story).

Trilegiant is the company behind this abuse. They use bogus marketing tactics to get people to unknowingly sign up for memberships and then people are charged every month, again and again.

Call Freed & Weiss! Toll free: 866.799.9610. They need to hear from you so that they can move the class action forward and put a stop to this terrible customer abuse.

OMG! Somebody sent FLOWERS to someone else?! POLICE! FBI! HOMELAND SECURITY! ARMY! NAVY! This is a horrible crime. We need to form a LYNCH MOB NOW. Let's start a petition to our congress to make it a capital offense to send flowers, along with sending birthday cards and just being plain nice to each other.

I can imagine the kind of shallow, controlling, mean spirited person that gets upset about such a silly thing. Talk about too much time on their hands. I feel sorry for their husband or wife -- oh wait I am pretty sure they are divorced or a spinster...

PS. by the way I noticed that the complainer is also anonymous.

when using this company DON"T roll over insist on what you want. It all depends on who you complain to and if you can put up with it those that don't speak english (that's right an american company that is putting americans out of work and hiring those they can pay $3 an hr to) are willing to give you all your money back and a redelivery. Once it's in the notes on the order they have to up hold.

Terrible service. I called 24 hours in advance for next day delivery of a dozen roses for a friend's birthday. I called the 800 number on the day of delivery and was told that the flowers were delivered. I also received an email confirmation of the delivery. I found out the next day that the flowers were never delivered. As a consolation I was offered redelivery (at no extra cost - imagine that!) or a 20% discount. Outrageous. I would never recommend using this company.

In this case, it is true that most companies that are in this business have this exact type of policy in place. I have worked for 1800Flowers.com and I can tell you that it is part of their privacy policy that they can not release the information without the customers permission, not because of people who have affairs but because of the "secret admirer" and because our customers have requested that they be able to use our service and know that their information is kept private. Any recipient who receives an anonymous gift and calls in the ask who is informed we cannot release without the senders permission. Then an attempt to contact the sender is made through phone and e-mail and when there is an answer the recipient is notified. In cases like stalkers or harrassments, it is not that the company does not want to help but we do ask that you go to your local police station so they can legally obtain the information for their investigation. Even the police station will tell you that in order for them to help someone who has a stalker or harrassment issue, that you need to contact them regarding these situations so that they can properly protect you.

I worked for 1800 flowers for the last 2 days a driver. I relized that the names of the senders weren't on the flowers at all. Then i remember my girlfriend telling me the other day of a guy who was having an affair and sent flowers to his secret lover. His Wife found out he had flower purchases and found out he was sending flowers to some other lady. The guy sued 1800flowers, don't know if he won or not. But prolly to avoid more lawsuits, they stop giving out personal information on who sent flowers. Yeah, it does suck, but if you ran your own company you wouldn't want to risk the chance of someone suing it. Eventually the person who sent you flower will call back and say "Did you get my flowers grandmama!"

I understand that you're upset, but in my opinion, 1800Flowers did the right thing in this instance. How would you feel if you anonymously sent flowers to your secret crush and the florist just caved in because the recipient made up some clever story about why he or she needed to know your identity?

Sending someone mail is usually not considered an invasion of their privacy (otherwise junk mailers would be swimming in a sea of lawsuits). If your mother was not expecting flowers, and did not want them, she was free to refuse the delivery when the florist showed up.

If you really have a legitimate concern about someone stalking your 82-year-old mother, then present your case to a judge, get a subpoena, and 1800Flowers will be forced to release the name of the sender.
