Never came back to finish the job!

Castaway Pools and Spas installed a pool at my home on 4/5/07. They have never came back to finish the job despite numerous phone calls and letters sent to their office. Their salesman john refuses to answer any phone calls. I would advise anyone in the tristate area to be aware of this company. If this company is hired to install a pool at your home read the contract and beware that the are not responsible for any damage to your home or property. Do not under any circumstances make a payment until they are completely done. They seem friendly but are that lie and deceive the public.

Ok Agnes? I didn't even finish reading your post, but I have to respond.

If you are the sales person for a company, you get a sale, recieve 8 thousand dollars on a deposit for that sale. Why would you not return a single call in 6 months.

I guess we are all being to hard on John and the other salesman. They are so busy they can't even return one phonecall.

But thanks for clearing up that Migde Kalai is the owner. I need to make some calls.

Ok now I got it. That person Agnes is actually John Sr.

He gave me the same sentimental bull shit when I talked to him on the phone back in December.

He even called me a couple of days ago posing as a detective to get info from me.

The fire is about to get lit and they are starting to reach for straws.

Maybe this is just me...but:

If anyone ever called me (unsolicited) and said they were an official representative of something having to do with the police, or with a bank, or with a credit card company, or ANYONE who calls me about CASTAWAY in ANY CAPACITY (official, legislator, attorney, cop, bail bondsman, Dog the Bounty Hunter, or whatever), I would not say ANYTHING to them, but get their information, tell them I will call them back and hang up...and then call the place where they say they work directly (using a public number like one found in the phone book, or by dialing 4-1-1), and ask for them... and if they answer and want to talk to me, then I'll be glad to discuss things. Cell phones numbers don't count either, unless I get it from the main place. This also assumes that the Caller ID info doesn't look bonafide.

If it turned out that the person who called me wasn't who they said they were, my next call would be to the police. If someone called me posing as a police officer, I'm pretty sure that's a crime..probably a nice felony.

P.S. - Isn't the internet great? This complaint now has 12 pages, and our pals at Castaway Pools & Spas, LLC, now have the 5th WORST RATING here on the complaints board (pointed out in another posting by Randy). If you look on the left side of the page near the top, you'll see the list. Castaway has yet to beat the dreaded Maytag / French Door Refrigerator, but I have confidence they will be at the top of the list before we know it.

This company doesn't seem to have existed on the internet before they got up on the Leisure Pools site.

Hopefully what we have here is a case of Leisure dumping Castaway completely and finding a completely new installer in this area.

although it appears suspicious....seems to be no affiliation at all between this East Coast and John or John Sr.

simply a coincidence...most likely Leisure Pools either got burned already from our scam artists friends or stayed on top w/ this message board and pulled out to avoid any further bad press from being linked to Castaway.

has anyone spoken to Dolphin Industries? that was Castaway's last supplier of pools. maybe they should be notified that Castaway is once again looking for a pool manufacture...and should be given the heads up.

it is so obvious that the post by Agnes is John SR. How does Agnes know so much about John Jr. and his past....and his current status w/ court...restitution...etc....

John Sr. has said on many occasions he is pissed off John Jr. is constantly being bashed on this forumn.

here's the clear indicator it's John Sr.
in the post Agnes states to have never met Dencil....yet towards the end the dumb ass slips up and refers to Dencil as DENNY. HMMMM.....if Agnes never met Dencil....than how would she ever know to call him denny.

Agnes also stated that she never met John, but how does she know so much about him??And the slip up with mentioning denny and john are good people towards the end. So does she know him or not? Also, I know some of us, including me, ramble on, not paying any attention to our early grammar lessons. I was thought was a sentence was one complete thought, not one paragraph! The funny thing is, it wasn't this blog that made them not want to do anything for us, it was after they received the "BIG" check. Then the BS and run around game began. For some, it only took the deposit, to get them started.
We were promised the world. In the beginning, we were going to go with either Mystic or Waterworld.
John pointed out ALL OF Waterworld faults, even showed us on the computer how their pools were inferior. How the went bankrupt and changed their company name several time. He even stooped as low as showing us the BBB report on them.
We were to get fiber optic lights with remote-the remote never appeared until late August, when Dave found one! The delux steps and hand rails-never got them until July, final grade-never happened. the permits for the pool-paid with a bounced check a month after the pool was installed. The real permits were not done until AUGUST!, after our pool was closed down from the township, as an unsafe structure because of the electric. We have a warranty, that isn't worth the paper that it is NOT printed on. The pool has a leak, that we lost 1-2 inches a water a day and the bottom of the pool was covered with sand/dirt.This is only the tip of the iceberg, Our pool was installed in March.
What ever happened to our contract, our file and permit papers? Well for the permit papers, you know and the yellow card you put in your window to show you have a permit, all were still in our file in BVT building inspectors office, They were never picked up because the CHECK BOUNCED! so everything that was done for the pool was done WITHOUT permits. Oh, and Johnny Boy, told Kalai and the others that my Husband begged him to put the pool in without permits! Lets do some basic math...
contract signed- 2/24/07
check cashed ($5,000)deposit 3/8/07
John called-3/23/07 permits are in pool goes
in Monday
pool installed 3/26/07
$19,000 handed over 3/28/07 first promise to be broken- Electric on schedule for Friday 3/30/07
3/30/07-NO SHOW! Let the Lies begin
4/25 applies for permits
5/2 their check bounces!
AUGUST-we find out their were no permits
lets see, so they have $24,000 worth of our money
the check bounced, and never made good on it, the pool has been in the ground for 30 days, no electric or concrete!
4/28 electric goes in but failed
5/2 John tells us to take pictures of the wire around, said the electrical inspector told him that that was all he needed to see and it would be okay to pour the concrete, the pool concrete is scheduled today

Oh, forgot this one, we were chronic complainers, assholes, nothing would make us happy and the best one yet, my husband is a DRUNK!

JULY-electrical inspector comes wants all the concrete ripped up, THEIR were NO PERMITS!!!!!!
So Agnes, this is what you call a man who is trying to make good on things.
