After signing up for a website w/www.1and1.com, I saw right away I did not like it and I cancelled in less than 24hrs w/o building or publishing a site (They have a 90 day money back guarantee). At first they acknowledged cancellation, then about a week later I got an email saying they tried to charge my credit card and it was denied (I stopped my card from paying them anything as soon as I cancelled). I replied, explaining the cancellation and reminded them they had confirmed it. Several times over next 3 wks they sent the same exact email about not being able to charge my credit card and I kept replying to them. It was like they were not reading my replies. Finally, I just quit replying to them. Now they have turned my account over to a collection agency and have hurt my credit, and they still will not respond to my attempts to contact them except with a canned message that does not make sense. Be very careful dealing with this company, there are many better hosting companies out there, no need to deal with one that will mess your credit up through no fault of your own.

I hope you can get out unscathed. July of last year they started charging me for domains I did not want renewed. It took until December to finally get a cancelled account. But yesterday March 21, they are again piling fees on me for God knows what.

Getting collection phone calls from NCO or similar name. Finally called, they didn't have my last name or my address right and couldn't tell me what or why I reportedly owed money. Got an account number, called 1and1, couldn't get info from the first person on how much or why I reportedly owed money, she transfered me to their "corporate office." That person wanted info from me, I wasn't giving, I was asking for info. Finally mentioned NCO person and info she had provided on first call (my account number), the person at 1&1 "corporate office" said I was speaking to NCO. Don't know what their scam or deal is but I sure wasn't giving them any info they didn't have on me to let them further perpetuate the fraud. If calls continue I'll pursue further. First person claimed she was removing my number from the call list.

Totally agree, 1and1 is awful. Everyone who has had a problem should send an email to their legal department at legal@1and1.com. Perhaps of the get a few hundred thousand emails they will wake up.

1&1 is has also locked my account and i owe them nothing. They charged my credit card for $160 in error and after a few weeks I filed a complaint with my bank who reversed the charge. Then 1&1 issued a credit and the bank reversed the amount charged back to 1 and 1. So, everything is even I owe them nothing. A week after the bank reversed the charge back, 1&1 locked my account and stated that it cannon be unlocked until I sign a statement that their charges were valid.

Stay away from this company. They are crooks.

BEWARE of 1&1

When I was first miss-billed I tried to transfer my domains. IMPOSSIBLE because 1&1 will not release any of them; not even the one’s not in the contract.

The second time, I was advised trough an email to change my package. Impossible as well. Can't cancel and can't transfer. Nothing works! They simply don't care.

I was just hung up on … because billing said, “I am ending this call because I’ve warned you not to interrupt me again!” Click. OMG I’m laughing and crying at the same time!

I’ve never been credited for my affiliate work either.

Finally, seems my customer’s domains and my customer’s webmail are being held hostage because my account has been locked for several weeks now. Apparently, there seems to be no resolve other than pay for billing that I do not owe.

1and1 is rubish, is 0% customer service, both purchase department, security department, they are not professional, they need more training, inorder to understand how it works in the global market. We are their customers and without our help they cant build this company, when things is not going right we have the right to complain.
I refer a customer and after the purchase, they refuse to release is order- depite several phone calls and proof of ID. 1and1, please wake up and get yourself together.Your service s***ks
I regret to recommend my client to them- they make my company look rubish andcheap like them

I too had a similar problem with 1 & 1 internet inc. I had 2 accounts with them for about 3 years and never used ether, the charges were taken out of my credit card. Then when I lost my credit card and canceled it I received a the bill from 1 & 1 I emailed them to cancel both accounts. They emailed me back that they couldn't do that I would have to log in and cancel it my self. So after finally locating the old account numbers and passwords I did just that, but several days latter I received another bill and was told that I didn't cancel it correctly and therefore it wasn't canceled. I then wrote them a letter and sent it US Mail and still no good they wouldn't cancel the accounts. I am now receiving letters from the collection people.
I would like to report them to the BBB and anyone else, does anyone have any names and addresses to send complaints to? I tried to look up the President of 1&1 but with no luck, anyone have his address?
Thanks Donald

Refer them to the Better Business Bureau. After going through false collections (on an account had a confirmed cancellation), they stopped their fraudulent activity after I contacted the BBB.

Us too. They sent us to collection on an old address that we haven't used in years. We paid it, and here we are again two years later being sent to collections. We called to cancel, but no longer remember the password so they refused to cancel it. Since we don't have the email account that we used anymore, we can not get our password, therefore cannot cancel the service. Not sure what we'll do, but this is crazy! Do Not use them!

The so called 1 and 1 Internet are complete vagabonds, senseless and pathetic crooks. The seem to have a problem with refunds when advised their service is not required. There are thieves and rogues which I have intent to do business with. They caused some liabilities which when done dealing with them, they'll be shutting down.

I agree with you on 1 and 1. I did use the services for 6 months, that is what I thought I paid for and had a agreement to. I canceled and moved my website to another company. I was informed that I signed up for a year. I did not sign up for a year. They wanted me to at first but then agreed to 6 months, so I paid upfrong. Now they put a collection agent after me for $50.00. I will never use this service again or will never recommend it.

Thx

Seriously, 1and 1 Internet web services SUX. They charge credit cards without consent, leverage forced continuity, and sick collection hounds on you if you charge back or refuse to pay for a service you WON'T receive.

AVOID 1AND1. There are a million other web hosting companies that are ethical, and do good business with their clients. These punks don't.

I also was taken by this company! I did not even confirm the order and they had taken $ out of my account, I called immediately to cancel, and was told just to send the itme back. The chg. was suppose to be $1.95, but the company also took another $48.92 out off my account. After calling the bank to find out who these people were that chged my account and getting back on the internet to find out who this company was I read that these people had been taking $110.00's out of others accounts I closed the acct. out. I have since then sent the product back ( tiny) suppose to last 30 days(no way). I am still trying to call and get a refund with no luck!
DO NOT OREDER THIS YOU WILL BE SORRY!

Where in the hell is the attorney general or greedy lawyers wanting to get in on a slam dunk class action suit? 1 & 1 internet are blatant crooks that need to be jailed imo. This isn't just "mistakes" on their part it's god damned racketeering and they've been getting away with it for years. They know what they're doing and their intent isn't to offer a service, but to lock you into their system of corruption. And, think about this, after talking to their employees it's got to just scare the hell out people knowing they have your credit card information. It's got to the point to where you have to do a background check on everyone you do business with these days.

Request 1&1 Internet Inc. to cancel domain by their control center setting set to not renew. I submit the request to non renew a confirmation email follow immediately. I reply comfirmation of cancellation however a second email of cancel comfirmation was also sent. However never received it. This voided my cancellation. This is nothing but a way to obtain your domain upon the renewal . I have filed a complaint to my billing company and also FCC and ICANN the 1&1 Internet Inc. stuborn and tricky be careful.
