Zillow Disappointing Changes to Zillow: Charging for Listings and Taking Over Contact Information

Zillow.com is a website that has been around for many years and has been a valuable tool for many landlords, real estate professionals, and private homeowners. However, recently they have made some changes that have left many users feeling frustrated and disappointed.

One of the biggest changes that Zillow has made is that they are now charging users to list their properties on their website in some states. While this may not be a big deal for some, for others it can be a significant expense. As a landlord with several properties, I was sad to learn that I would have to pay $9.99 per week to list just one of my homes.

But that's not the only issue. Zillow has also taken over control of how people can contact me. They have replaced my phone number with their own, claiming that it's for security reasons to keep my identity safe. While I appreciate the concern for my safety, I don't appreciate the fact that people who want to contact me can no longer email me or call me directly. Instead, they reach an answering service that tells them who knows what.

To make matters worse, Zillow now keeps all emails and phone messages in their message center, which means that I have to log on to their website multiple times a day just to check for new messages. This is a huge inconvenience and has made it much more difficult for me to manage my properties.

Overall, I am very disappointed with the new Zillow. It's no longer user-friendly, and it's frustrating to have to deal with their message center and answering service. I am anxiously waiting for another company to develop a listing site that will provide the same level of service that Zillow used to provide. Even the public is complaining about the changes, and I hope that Zillow will listen to their users and make some improvements soon.

Zillow Zillow Review: A Great Tool for Finding Your Next Home

Me and my hubby have been living in northern CA for more than 30 years now, but we're planning to move back to our home state, Wisconsin. We're not doing it because we love the weather, humidity, bugs, snakes, and all that jazz. We just want to be closer to our family. And since we're living so far away, we're using Zillow to help us find our new home.

Let me tell you, Zillow is a pretty good tool to use if you're looking for a new place to live. But before I go any further, let me just say that WE ALREADY HAVE A REALTOR in WI, and we're not planning to use anyone listing a particular home. So, if you're like us, PLEASE DO NOT PRESS THE BUTTON that says "I'm interested in this home" because you'll get bombarded with unwanted phone calls from agents!

Anyway, back to Zillow. This website gives you a lot of information about the homes you're interested in. You can find out about the Facts and Features, Year Built, Square Footage, Room Sizes, Heating and Cooling (Central air is a MUST!), acreage, Taxes, price per square foot, schools, and much more. They even have a "Zestimate" that can tell you if the home is priced too high or too low. And if you're wondering how long the home has been listed on Zillow, they'll tell you that too. Plus, they have a history of the home's price increases or decreases or "taken off the market", which can help you figure out if the seller might be willing to accept a lower price.

Now, there are a couple of downsides to using Zillow. For one thing, the pictures they show of the homes may be limited. And if you don't already have a realtor, you take a chance on whoever is listing the home. But since we're from WI, we already have a realtor we know and trust.

Overall, I'd say that Zillow is a great site to use if you're planning to move somewhere far away. It gives you a good idea of what's out there and how much it costs. So, if you're in the same boat as us, give Zillow a try!

Zillow Zillow's Zestimate: Unreliable and Causing Problems for Home Buyers and Sellers

So, I gotta say, Zillow has been getting a lot of flack lately for their estimate of houses. I mean, they claim to "go on algorithms" without even seeing a house. What kind of craziness is that? And it's not just me saying this, many realtors and other businesses have been fighting this because Zillow has been owning other websites that question antitrust laws. It's a whole mess, let me tell you.

Their Zestimate is often wrong and it's causing problems for home buyers and sellers alike. It's like, how are we supposed to trust this estimate when it's not even accurate? And it seems like everyone is influenced by this estimate of a house. It's like we're all guilty of believing it.

I've had my own personal experience with Zillow and it wasn't great. I sent them several emails and showed them all the houses around us that were $60k over ours, even though we had more square footage and updates. And what did they do? They just shrugged their shoulders and claimed algorithms. Like, what kind of answer is that? And to top it all off, there was a house down the street that was purchased for minimum and it was showing up on Zillow as being worth more than ours. It's like they're just making it up as they go along.

But, to be fair, after I politely emailed them several times, they did offer me $10k more. So, I guess that's something. But it still seems like an underestimate and I can't help but wonder if it influenced the sale. I mean, who knows, right?

Anyway, it seems like after several complaints, Zillow has changed its ways and is now using comps to compare house values. Which is definitely an improvement. But the damage has already been done for many of us. It's like the housing market is used to ignoring these Zestimates when it comes to buying and fighting for a house now.

Overall, my review still stands as what I went through with Zillow. It's just not reliable and it's caused a lot of problems for a lot of people. But hey, at least I believe in God, not Zillow. ;)

Zillow Zillow Premier Agent Review: Deceptive Practices and Wasted Leads

I gotta say, Zillow ain't all it's cracked up to be. I caved in to their sales guys' constant pestering and signed up to be a Zillow Premier agent. I needed more leads for my agents, but I made it clear that I wouldn't be the one taking the calls. They assured me that the calls would be routed to my team, but after I signed the contract and forked over more than $2,000 a month, they stopped caring. It took them over two weeks to get my calls to my buyers agents, and I missed out on a bunch of opportunities. And they won't even reimburse me for more than half a month of wasted leads!

I sell over 25 homes a year myself, and most of those deals come from online leads that I generate. I signed up with Zillow to get more leads for my new buyers agents, but they completely let me down. And get this: Zillow competes against their own paying clients! They cherry pick the best leads and buy or list those homes themselves instead of giving the listings to their paying clients. And they leave under contract and sold properties on their website to generate more calls so they can sell more zip code shares to your direct competitors. They'll even tell you that you're the last agent they can have in your zip code just to get you to sign up, and then they'll add 10 more agents months into your contract, reducing your leads significantly. It's super deceptive!

I've been selling homes from online leads since 2005, and I can tell you from experience: don't give Zillow any of your money. They'll take it and run, with zero accountability.

Zillow Nightmare Experience Buying a Zillow-Owned House: Unprofessionalism and Confusion

So, I recently went through the process of buying a house that was owned by Zillow. Let me tell you, it was a real pain in the neck. It was pretty obvious that they didn't really know what they were doing when they decided to get into this side of the business. First of all, it took them three whole days to respond to our offer. But then, when they sent us a counter offer, they expected us to respond within eight hours. It wasn't until our realtor threatened to rescind our offer that they finally got back to us.

And that was just the beginning. Our realtor had to stay on top of them for every little thing. We were coming up on the end of our due diligence period and we still hadn't heard anything about the minor repairs we had requested. And when it came time to close, they were late. Our lender was ready to close early, but we didn't even know when the notary was coming until the morning of the 16th. And even then, Zillow didn't close on time because they kept forgetting to sign documents or had us sign documents that weren't updated.

We thought we were finally in the clear and had transferred the utilities on the day we thought we had closed. But then, our painters showed up to a blaring alarm because Zillow had cancelled our electricity. And to top it all off, our realtor contacted us this morning about another document that Zillow wants us to sign - even though the file has been closed for days.

Honestly, I didn't even think we were going to get the house with all the confusion and unprofessionalism that was going on. The only reason I'm giving them one star is because the house itself is beautiful. But that's not really their doing - they just put it on the market. All in all, Zillow was a nightmare to work with. Their staff seemed untrained and the whole business was just a mess.

Zillow My Experience with Zillow Offers: A Cautionary Tale for Home Sellers

Zillow Offers is not a good option for selling your home. I want to share my experience with others so they don't make the same mistake I did. I was in a hurry to sell my house because I found another house that I wanted to buy. It was a great deal and was bank-owned, so I needed to act fast. I asked Zillow for an offer on my house on 8/15/2019.

It took them over a month to finally give me an offer on 9/26/19. The offer was very low, but I still wanted to close on the other house. On 10/13/2019, there was an appointment to go over the offer and have someone look over the house. On 10/15/2019, they made a final offer marking down anything they found wrong with the house. This could be anything from a wall plate not matching in color to them wanting to rip out my brand new expensive carpet that I just installed and installing cheap carpet instead. The reality is they are just trying to get the house as cheap as they can.

On 10/31/2019, I wrote Zillow to explain some of the crazy items they wanted to change. For example, taking out built-ins and replacing all outlet switches. They wrote back to me on the same day saying they would get back to me. After trying every few days by phone to get ahold of them, I wrote an email asking for an update on 11/18/19.

On 11/19/2019, I wrote them again begging them to get back to me or I would lose the house I wanted and my NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $22,365 (My life savings). I only did this because Zillow was supposed to be a sure thing. Later in the day, they got back to me saying they should know more information by 4 pm.

The next day, 11/20/2019, I wrote them at 9:50 am and 5:14 pm saying I had not heard anything back. On 11/22/19, I finally heard from Zillow. They would not reduce any of the fixing they wanted to charge me. (taking out built-ins, changing all light switches, that are all in great condition, for example). At this point, I had no choice but to take the offer as is or lose my deposit and my dream home. I wrote them back and said fine. One hour passed, and they said because of the time that has passed, we will have to start all over again. I explained the problem to them and asked how fast we could get this done.

At the end of the day on 11/22/19, they wrote me one last time saying they just changed what homes they are buying, and my home is too large for them. They are no longer going to buy my home. I was forced to sell my home on a fire sale with the MLS or lose the dream home and my deposit for the home. In the end, I sold the home for $30,000 less than Zillow's final offer because they backed out. I also had to pay a realtor about $30,875 to sell it. If I would have just sold it on the MLS from the beginning, I would have had the time to do a lot better instead of trying to use Zillow and having them shift the price they were going to give us and ultimately backing out of the deal, costing me $68,875.

Zillow Zillow's Lack of Communication and Dropping Home Values: A Frustrating Experience

Last week, I checked out Zillow's website to see what their "Zestimate" of my home value was. It was $562,147, which I thought was pretty good. I was getting ready to sell my home, so I decided to give "Zillow Offer" a try. I filled out the online form, and the next day, I received a phone call from one of their agents, Kate. She told me that because I had indicated that I was working with a realtor, they needed to speak with my agent. So, I had my realtor call Kate at Zillow the next day to answer her questions. She said that we would have a Zillow Offer by Friday, 9/1/18.

I was out of town for the Labor Day weekend, but when I returned, I found that Zillow had offered me $461,843, which was over $100,000 less than their "Zestimate". I was shocked! I checked Zillow again on 9/3/18, and to my surprise, Zillow had dropped their Zestimate of my home to $508,362. That was a $53,785 drop in value over the course of a few days! I was suspicious of this activity, so I tried to call Kate at Zillow on 9/3/18, but she didn't answer. I left a voice message asking for an explanation, but I didn't hear back from her.

The next day, I called again and left another voice message. I was worried about the value of my home dropping so much in such a short amount of time. I spoke to an agent named Cindy, who told me that Kate was working that day, but they had been "busy." She said that the valuations were based on "an algorithm," and that the zestimates are constantly changing. I told her that I understood this, but that I knew my home's area and I also had the comps for my home. I assured her that we did not have any recent closings that would cause my home to lose 10% of its value in a matter of days. Cindy said she would have a manager call me back.

It's been a few days now, and I still haven't heard back from anyone at Zillow. I'm really frustrated with their lack of communication. Today, Zillow's Zestimate shows that my home's value has dropped 10.2% in the past 30 days. The house next door to mine, which is my identical floor plan, has experienced a +0.6% increase in value over 30 days and is valued at more than $50,000 over the current "value" of my home. Another home a few doors down, again with an identical floor plan, has experienced a -0.5% decrease in value over 30 days, although it is valued at nearly $90,000 more than my home.

If this is an algorithm at work, Zillow had better audit their software engineer's work! I'm really disappointed with their lack of customer service and communication. If a class-action suit is organized, sign me up.

Zillow also said that the Private Zestimate, which can only be seen by the home owner, can be edited by the home owner if they see any incorrect data on the home page. However, the comps that appear on Zillow's property pages are computer generated and cannot be manually edited or removed.

In conclusion, Zillow's Zestimate is just an estimate that is calculated based on data, sales records, tax information, and home facts. It is not meant to be used for comparative market analysis, and it is just a starting point value of the home. Zillow's algorithm models are constantly updating to provide the best starting value of a home given the data that they have available. While the Zestimate may not be accurate for everyone, Zillow is doing their best to provide the most accurate estimate possible.

Zillow Zillow's Unethical Separation of FSBO Listings from MLS Listings: A Violation of Truth in Advertising and Real Estate Best Practices

Zillow has been making some changes to their website that have left many users feeling misled and frustrated. One of the most significant changes is the separation of FSBO listings from MLS listings, with the latter being given priority and shown first under an exclusive tab. This has caused confusion among users, as the "Other Listings" tab for FSBOs and foreclosures is very faded and in the background, making it difficult to notice.

Before this change, MLS and FSBO listings were combined, but Zillow's business plan all along was to get buyers and sellers "hooked" on using their site by providing a free and easy way to research markets and obtain a variety of information and photos/maps of all kinds of properties. Once almost anyone buying or selling property is using Zillow in some way, Zillow separated and prioritized "Agent Listings" (MLS) because they launched an additional product and brought "Agents" on board with them at an additional cost.

This change has left FSBO sellers feeling like they are not provided equal opportunity/access to buyers and realtors, and vice versa. Zillow even has their "Call Agent" and "Message Agent" buttons below the FSBO listing heading and their "Contact Agent" information within the FSBO listing, leading users to believe that's the way to make contact with a seller. However, there is no agent, except Zillow's own agent force/relationship.

This is unethical on every level and a violation of Truth in Advertising and Real Estate Best Practices/Codes of Conduct. Zillow was made successful by "the people," but now they're almost a duplication of the MLS and using the public. This is just another case of a huge internet-based corporation manipulating data and how information is presented to us, all for the almighty dollar. It's disappointing to see a company that was once built by the public now taking advantage of them.

Zillow Property manager

I requested to view an apartment at 127 Jacques Ave #2 Staten Island listed for $2200.00 a month.

After communicating briefly with the Property Manager Wilson Fung, i was told I needed to provide my W2 before I could view the property.

I refused, because in the apartments I looked at I was never asked to provide a W2 before i could view the property.

Zillow Home Listing -BSMO 64015

My agent listed my home 10/20/23, Zillow posted my property as foreclosure which is a false statement and may affect my sale and sale price with this false information. I will pursue a lawsuit against Zillow should this stop my immediate sale of my property causing false claims to be investigated against me in selling. I want it fixed on the site immediately and will document this for my attorney.

You are listing my property as of September 25, 2023 as being in foreclosure on the internet. and it has never been in foreclosure. It was noted that is was forclosed, owned by bank and up for sale.

Zillow Signing lease and not getting keys

We signed the rental lease for 2261 north woodstock street On 7/31/2023 and my fiance was supposed to meet up with the zillow realtor mr dewhite white at 12pm on 8/1/2023 to give him the $600 remaining balance for the deposit for 2261 north woodstock street and get the keys which she was 15 minutes late and my dewhite white texted her and said he had an emergency with his cousin that was in the hospital and that he would call or text her after he gets out of the hospital visit with his cousin, after a few hours later my dewite white texted her stating the owner had questions about if we lived at 1846 penfield street and wanted to contact the owner of said address to confirm she lived there and when he was given the contact information she had he then stated the name she gave does not match the owners info and he wouldn't be able to move forward with giving her the keys until owners was contacted. However me and my fiance already rented a uhaul and paid for other services because me and her was told and showed we was approved to rent the house and everything went though. So we are seeking damages for rental of uhaul truck. Missed time at work and other expenses we incurred because of his negligence and unprofessional behavior

Zillow Map search resale properties Pine Grove Spring TX. 77373

Hello,

I received a call yesterday from another agent who noticed that our resale listings, in the Pine Grove Subdivision of Spring TX. 77373, were not showing up on the map searches of the area. I did notice however, that there are 13 properties showing as "available" by the builder, when in actuality, there is only 1 property that is under "Pending" status. That's fine, however, the other "12 available" properties"are actually 12 different"buildable"floor plans. The problem?... this Subdivision is SOLD OUT. We as agents are wondering how it is possible that NONE of our Re-sale listings are showing up on the map and that the builder's basically non-existent 12 of 13 available properties are. It definitely feels like we are being"blocked" and that the Builder, Centex Homes, is simply using the space to receive inquiries and steer buyers to other neighborhoods. We understand that the builder has purchased advertising space, however when the Subdivision is Sold Out, it should state that clearly, immediately and certainly not show bogus available properties. This is entirely unfair to the sellers and the brokerages. We also noticed on the map that the community of Pine Grove is colored in blue and we are wondering why. Thank you for any assistance.

Desired outcome: We as agents would 1st like to see our re-sale listings showing up on the map for searches related to the area. Secondly, we would like for the builder to be more candid about actual available inventory in the Subdivision.

Zillow Inaccurate home value for sale by owner

My address is 160 clubhouse lane in Lebanon Ohio. It is priced at 249 per square foot and was built-in 2012

I have attached what zillow believes my home is worth. It has not increased this value to the 250 per square foot value of my neighbourhood.

I have attached 2 comparable homes. Priced over 250 square foot. They are both selling for that. Both of these homes are over 10 years older than mine.

I have message zillow a number of times and they stopped responding.

Desired outcome: Change my home valuation to the list price of the home which is $269450

Zillow The current Zillow listing /information for my property is incorrect /please update/ change

I own a townhouse at 82 Laudaten Way in Warwick, NY 10990. Trigger event- Another townhouse right next to mine was sold last week. It has effected my listing. My listing has disappeared. For example, When you go on the Zillow website to look up my 82 laudaten Way townhouse , a different townhouse comes up. (86 Laudaten Way )townhouse comes up. This 86 townhouse was sold. It is not mine. Can someone please list my townhouse with correct information? This happened 5 days ago and I cant seem to get it changed . I have contacted Zillow help line by phone and by email. Zillow 3 of my listings are erroneous on Zillow

They have put 3 of my listings in the wrong areas which has caused me to lose business and it has caused customers to be confused. They "scrape" the listings from out MLS, so they have accurate information, but they somehow manage to get it wrong.

407 Fir Street is located in Westwood, CA 96137, NOT Susanville, CA 96130

Zillow False advertisement

There is a man posting on Zillow claiming he has several properties for rent, when you call he tells you to go to this website print the standard application fill it out and call back when done. I asked I did so I got nowhere he is very rude called me stupid. He claims he takes housing choice voucher also post that he does but he stated I'm a stupid voucher can't be used a source of income. You can never see any of his places but I have applied to many of his places. He has several different phone numbers and agents. Most of his properties are undisclosed address. Zillow Zillow's Rental Guarantee Falls Short: My Disappointing Experience

I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with Zillow. I was trying to rent out my fully furnished 5 bedroom/5 bath home for a few months, and I thought Zillow would be the perfect place to do it. I listed it under the "temporary/sublet" category and was promised by Zillow that I'd get at least one lead, or I'd get an extra week for free. Seemed like a pretty sweet deal to me.

But then things got weird. Instead of getting leads for my house, I started getting calls about a 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment on the other side of town. I had no idea what was going on, but apparently Zillow was directing those leads to me by mistake. People were asking for "Sharon," who was apparently the landlord for that apartment. I don't know if Sharon was getting my leads or what, but it was all very confusing.

I tried to get Zillow to fix the situation and give me my free weeks, but they told me that "ANY" lead counts toward the guarantee. Even if the leads were for someone else's property, it didn't matter. So for three weeks, my listing auto-renewed at $9.99 per week, and I never got a single inquiry that was actually about my house. It was a total waste of $30.

Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with Zillow. I thought they were supposed to be a reliable platform for finding renters, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn't recommend using them if you're trying to rent out your property.

Zillow Zillow's For Sale By Owner Listing Process is a Hassle and Incompetent

I gotta say, I ain't too happy with Zillow. I tried to sell my house on there as a for sale by owner, but it was a real hassle. I filled out all the info they asked for and got an email saying I "claimed" my property. They said it would take 72 hours to process, but I didn't hear back from them for 114 hours! Finally, I got a call from some lady named Rebecca who was hard to understand and didn't seem to know much about real estate. She kept asking me where I submitted the listing from, even though I told her like a million times. She wouldn't even list my property, saying it didn't match or something. But I'm the owner and my address is in Indiana, just like the property records say! I even Googled it and found my phone number was linked to that address. It's like their system is all messed up or something.

And don't even get me started on the neighborhood info and estimates they have on there. It's all wrong! I can't believe how incompetent they are. I've lost out on potential income because of their screw-ups. It's been a real headache dealing with Zillow.

Zillow Zillow's Shady Business Practices: A Review of Real Estate Corruption

I gotta say, I've been having some issues with Zillow lately. They done went and dropped the value of my house like a hot potato, and it just don't make no sense. I mean, all the other houses in the neighborhood went up in value, but mine just took a nosedive. And get this, I'm pretty sure it's all because of some shady real estate transactions that went down in the area. I'm a mandated reporter for elder abuse and vulnerable adults, and I know a thing or two about fraud. So when I saw what was happening to my house on Zillow, I knew something was fishy.

I tried to reach out to Zillow to get some answers, but all they did was give me the runaround. They changed the value a little bit, but it still didn't make no sense. And then they went and took down the picture of my house altogether! What's up with that? It's like they don't want nobody to see what's really going on.

I can't help but wonder if Zillow is in cahoots with some of these realtors who are up to no good. Maybe they're getting paid to make false claims against me and my property. It wouldn't surprise me none. There's so much corruption in the real estate game these days, it's hard to know who to trust.

One thing's for sure, though. If you see a realtor who's pushing hospice on their blog or trying to get you to learn about it for your elderly parents, you better watch out. That's a sure sign that they're up to no good. Corruption abounds, my friends. Don't let 'em get away with it.

Zillow Don't Fall for the Real Estate Market Trap: A Warning About Zillow and Big Investors

Listen up, folks! If you're thinking about buying a property in this crazy market, think again. You'll end up paying double what it's actually worth. Trust me, I've seen it happen time and time again. And don't even get me started on Zillow.com.

Now, I know some of you might be thinking, "But Zillow is a reputable company, right?" Wrong. They're just like any other big real estate investor out there. They buy distressed homes that have been left on the market or are up for auction, slap on some cheap cosmetic work, and sell them to you for twice (or even more) what they paid. And they'll try to lure you in with a low interest rate, but let me tell you, that won't last forever. The Feds won't be able to keep it low for much longer, and before you know it, you'll be drowning in mortgage payments and property taxes.

And what happens when you can't keep up with those payments? You'll be forced to give your house back to Zillow, who will then turn around and sell it to another unsuspecting buyer. It's a vicious cycle, folks.

But here's the thing: you don't have to fall for their tricks. Be a wise buyer and wait for the market to dip down. It's bound to happen sooner rather than later, especially with the recession already here. And when it does, go out there and buy your dream home for the right price and value.

I, for one, am eagerly awaiting this opportunity. I refuse to let big real estate investors like Zillow and Redfin get richer at the expense of hardworking Americans like us. So let's all be smart about this and wait for the right time to make our move. Trust me, it'll be worth it in the end.

Zillow Zillow Home Loans: A Heartless Company That Doesn't Care About Its Customers

Zillow home loans done messed up big time. They told us the day before we were supposed to close on our new crib that they screwed up some paperwork and we couldn't close. It took them two whole days to fix the issue. That caused a whole lot of stress and embarrassment, ya know, buying a home from a family member and all. Plus, we had to reschedule our friends, movers, and work, which cost us a pretty penny.

To make matters worse, they changed the move-out date of our old place from Friday to Sunday, and if we weren't out in three days, we'd be hit with a $5,000 penalty. What a surprise and change of plans! A so-called "manager" told us we'd be compensated in some way to "make it right." But five weeks went by with dozens of emails and phone calls, and everyone just kept passing the buck to someone else. Finally, we were connected to a customer care team, but phone tag went on for another week or more. And guess what? They told us we wouldn't be compensated in any way.

Apparently, the hassle they created has no "value" to them. Can you believe that? They don't care about us as human beings, just as numbers. They didn't even give us a written apology or a gift card to a steakhouse.

So, if you're thinking about using Zillow, be warned. They might mess up your paperwork, cause you a ton of stress and embarrassment, and then not even care about it. It's like they don't even have a heart.

Zillow Zillow.com Review: A Disappointing Experience Trying to Sell Our Home Without an Agent

We tried to sell our crib without a real estate agent using zillow.com. It was a hot mess from the jump and one of the biggest real estate mistakes that we ever made. The info entered by the company was often incorrect and untimely posted. At a critical time, zillow delayed the listing for over a week with no explanation. Communication offered by the company was nearly non-existent and extremely inadequate. After numerous attempts of entering our contact info, prospective buyers were forced to come in person to our home and make an appointment for showings by knocking on our door, sometimes very early in the morning. When we finally received a response from a zillow employee, he indicated that "the system was having problems" with no remedy. Having lost precious time with a major financial transaction, perhaps the biggest of our lives, we were forced to list our home by another means. To this day, the final "sales price" of our home posted by zillow (without any input from us) is incorrect by $40,000. When I attempt to obtain real estate info from the zillow site now, the map feature, which is critical to my needs, doesn't function at all. In general, I find the website extremely user unfriendly to both sellers and buyers.

Zillow Zillow Needs to Step Up: A Review of the Rental Listing Site

Looking for a place to rent can be a real headache, and Zillow doesn't make it any easier. I don't know if it's the fault of Zillow or the sellers and agents, but the listings are never accurate, never make sense, and never have enough detail. I've seen listings with no pictures at all, all caps text that's hard to read, and descriptions that are careless and sloppy. And don't even get me started on the roommate listings - I'm sick of seeing prices that seem reasonable, only to find out that they're for a single bedroom in a shared apartment.

Zillow needs to step up and start moderating these listings. People need to be more specific about what they're offering - not providing square footage or clear pictures of the rental isn't going to help anyone. And I've been baited and switched so many times that I've lost count. It's not fair for agents to post listings that aren't even available, and then try to get your information to show you other apartments that you're not interested in.

And let's talk about fees. Some listings claim to be no-fee, but then you find out at the last minute that there are broker fees or other charges that you weren't told about. It's frustrating and time-consuming to have to deal with this kind of thing.

Overall, Zillow has a lot of work to do if they want to be a reliable source for renters. They need to crack down on inaccurate and incomplete listings, and make sure that agents are being honest about what they're offering. Until then, I'll be looking elsewhere for my next rental.
