YMCA Rip off

So let me get this straight. I'm order for my kids to be active in the winter at the new bremen oh ymca.. I need to pay for and sign them up for programs because that's the only was to utilize the facility from after school hours until 745 8 at night? So a membership payment of 73 dollars a month is only enough to take my kids to enjoy the ymca experience on the weekend. This is not okay and I will be canceling my membership.

Claimed loss: Nothing after this month

Desired outcome: When building a facility or scheduling activities don't forget you have monthly paying members who would also enjoy to experience the facility.

YMCA - Asheboro ymca wrong memberships

Front desk employees are rude and don't assist customers correctly. When opening a Membership in Asheboro YMCA, employees tend to charge you for a wrong amount, give you inaccurate information and will change your Membership policies without previous notice, making you look bad in public when it is their mistake. The membership director King doesn't know...

YMCA Violentation of efficiency communication by the American Disability Act Law

This evening I experienced a violation of the code of ethics, discrimination, and lack of efficient communication from the manager. English is not my first language, so I am so lost for English words now that I am having a hard time thinking over the trauma I had experienced with communication. However, I was told by the manager that a representative from their leadership will be contacting me via email. I will be waiting to hear from the Downtown corporation office in the meantime.

Desired outcome: I wanted the efficient communication enforced by the American Disability Act.

Is YMCA legit?

Our verdict: Complaints Board's thorough examination reveals YMCA as a legitimate entity with notable strengths. Despite a 11% resolution rate on customer complaints, which invites a closer look, YMCA stands out for its commitment to quality and security. Clients considering YMCA should delve into its customer service record to gauge compatibility with their expectations.

YMCA earns 91% level of Trustworthiness

Perfect Trust Endorsement: YMCA achives 91% ligitmacy per Complaints Board. Highly recommended, yet always stay vigilant.

We found clear and detailed contact information for YMCA. The company provides a physical address, 4 phone numbers, and 2 emails, as well as 2 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.

A long registered date for ymca.net can be seen as a positive aspect for YMCA as it indicates a commitment to maintaining the website and its domain name for a long period of time. It also suggests that the company is organized and has taken steps to secure its online presence.

The age of YMCA's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

Ymca.net has a valid SSL certificate, which indicates that the website is secure and trustworthy. Look for the padlock icon in the browser and the "https" prefix in the URL to confirm that the website is using SSL.

Ymca.net has been deemed safe to visit, as it is protected by a cloud-based cybersecurity solution that uses the Domain Name System (DNS) to help protect networks from online threats.

We looked up YMCA and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information

However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:

  • While YMCA has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 11% of 349 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
  • YMCA protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
  • We conducted a search on social media and found several negative reviews related to YMCA. These reviews may indicate issues with the company's products, services, or customer support. It is important to thoroughly research the company and its offerings before making any purchases to avoid any potential risks.

YMCA Customer service and the lack of telling the truth

On January 4,2024 I went to the Hammond Family Ymca on 7322 southeastern Ave Hammond Indiana to play some basketball with my niece. I have a membership and so does she but I left my card at home so the lady looked up my account but my niece account was not paid up. The lady informed me that the account needed to be paid up in order for her to be admitted to play ball. I asked the lady if I can get an guest pass for her. The lady told me that they don't have any guest passes at first then after I said no guest passes she changed it to I have to be the parent in order to get a pass. Why lie about the guest passes to begin with? I will be cancelling my membership on Feb 1,2024 because I don't like being lied to I guess she nor her co-workers read the Ymca rules or what the Ymca standards for. They could have said guest passes are for 18 years and older but to say they don't have any was a flat out lie.

Desired outcome: I don't know what outcome will make me chance my mind to keep the membership because I don't like being lied to and I paying the salary of workers who lied to members.

YMCA YMCA standards not kept by employees/mgmt sex discrimination

After going to Monica McKinley about the violated dress code of staff member in charge of Fitness and Marketing Director - Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA Mary-Ladd Watts Yonkman explaining that all her private areas would show thru workout panty hose like outfit (gross and appearing to be soliciting) I was told this was not proper dress code for any member or employee of the YMCA. This Fitness and Marketing Director was not suspended or fired for a year. Monica McKinley Branch Executive Director - Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA favors the opposite sex regarding following the policy of giving a verbal or written warning. In fact over the past year Mary-Ladd Watts Yonkman has dressed this way in front of Monica McKinley and members with no action taken, When i MENTIONED THAT IT WAS GROSS. I was suspended for a year from the YMCA with no warning or no warning letter. I have not heard from Rick Callebs yet regarding this matter.

Claimed loss: punished for following or mentioning ymca rules sexual discrimination against men

Desired outcome: A public apology and suspension of both of these for a year or terminated for a year from any ymca Monica McKinley and Mary-Ladd Watts Yonkman. noted as a sex discriminator(s).

YMCA Bullying of mentally ill, elderly person

I said something inappropriate to a Moody YMCA lifeguard during Covid lock-down. We were all isolated, and for members with mental illness, it was an especially hard time. I am not even sure that what I said was wrong, but the Director, Nick, called me on the telephone while Mica listened in and said very little. He did not request a private meeting but threatened to end my membership. We "made up" and I continued to swim. I ended my membership to join a country club. I have decided to return to rejoin, but to our shock, we have been banned. Nick has ghosted me (recently discussed in a NY Times article of this cruel practice) and has not responded to my request for my husband and me to return.

Claimed loss: $50 joiner fee

Desired outcome: I would like an apology from Nick and Mica for sweeping mental illness under the rug. I would like to return as a Moody YMCA swimmer and mental health advocate.

YMCA Treated unfairly and caused of damages

I am a nationwide member and I visit the NORTHWEST YMCA in tarrant county. I was working out and was informed by the director of this ymca that I couldn’t work out in the studio and also that I and my children couldn’t sit in the waiting area while my husband finished his workout. I was followed by one of the working into the studio room and was told I couldn’t work out. I asked the why and she said that there a have been $700 worth of damage done and that I could l couldn’t work out because of that, and accusing me and my children of doing those damages. I have been a member for many year and was disappointed by her behavior. She said there were rules about it and I ask what was the rules and can I see them on paper that stated the rules. She said that she enforced the rules. I was treated unfairly and was being watched as I worked out. This behavior is unacceptable. No one of any color should be treated they way my family and I was treated. I have never been treated this way in all the many ymca gyms I have visited. The NORTHWEST YMCA in tarrant county WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Claimed loss: None

YMCA No warning suspension of membership

11/8/2023 10am Monica Mckinnly branch director called Theodore Koppe to come into her office today. I was told while she was gone that there were complaints about conversations with other members.

I was never told by anyone about the subject was a problem. Personal or other than personal. I have many members tell me about their lives and I do not complain. I even ask if the topic is ok and am told yes.

I sense that this is a racial issue due to the fact that when I turn in a complaint on an individual 5 times that is breaking the ymca rules in the presence of staff as well as on video in the pool area that do not act and the person is of another race. The person is given a warning after 5 times.. This is because the person is not white. There are other signs of the racial problem of topics this race discusses. My identity is given and theirs is not.

Claimed loss: public humiliation. Racism. discriminated against.

Desired outcome: Monica asst. mgr. and members to be disclosed. The discriminating members to have the same membership to be suspended for one year.YMCA policy for membership suspension without any warnings.

YMCA Counselor/worker “Nikki” worker at after school program Townley Elementary

I would like to report Miss Nikki, who works at the Townley Elementary school after school program. In addition to being inattentive, she is rude and out of place with her comments. I was on my cell phone, in my car, talking to a friend whose granddaughter had JUST died in a very tragic auto accident. Miss Nikki saw me on my phone and told my grandson that he needs to tell his grandma that the Y is not a babysitting service and she is to come get him as soon as she gets there. To stay off her phone. Also, to pick up my grandson I knock on the door and the worker opens it and hands me the check out device. Instead of holding the door open Miss Nikki lets go of it and it hits me and almost knocks me down. This has happened on more than one occasion. She is not friendly nor outgoing. She is rude, impatient, and inattentive to the kids.

Desired outcome: Miss Nikki needs to be fired

YMCA - Flag football

Lake Houston YMCA Easier for me to give you a list: 1. Incorrect signup date. I received emails stating that the season was going to start in one week however the front desk rep said that it was three weeks away. Fortunately, I signed my son up early. 2. We received a practice and game schedule that was full of errors. One of the practices was for...

YMCA - Life guards very rude and disrespectful

My children and I have been members for years and have gone swimming for years with no issues. Today, we went to our local YMCA like normal. My son never needs a life jacket as he is almost 5ft tall. He is only 9 but almost taller than I am (his mother). He can also swim. Today they told me he had to wear a life jacket or pass the swim test, even though he...

YMCA New YMCA rules excluding grandchildren access

First off, I can tell how useless this complaint of mine will be handled since the YMCA has resolved a paltry 39 complaints and hasn't resolved 296!

For years my grandchildren have enjoyed the YMCA open swim times and the 2 playrooms at Westside YMCA as well as the large climbing room at the Pittsford YMCA. Young children having fun with others, what could be wrong in promoting that healthy, family style activity. Found out this morning that YMCA has changed their policy to program based only activites in those play/swim areas. See desire for more money$ via programs and paid memberships at that exclusion of others that cannot afford an entire membership.

Shame on you YMCA, your previous wonderful history of including all people in a healthy family environment has been replaced by greed. Shame on you!

Desired outcome: return to the stated requirements on your website that allows youngsters $30 monthly fee, instead of me having to call and find out that offer is no longer valid!!! False advertising much?????

YMCA Employment opportunity

I was called in to interview at the YMCA by Mathew on mills rd in downtown Orlando fl and was pushed thru to a second interview with a lady named Kristen and all went well. They told me I was HIRED and should receive some emails. I cancelled all my interviews because of this information. Fast forward a week later they contacted me to let me know they promoted someone internally while Mathew was on vacation. I emailed Mathew two days prior to him calling me and called up to the Y and no one responded to me by email or phone, when I called the Y I was told Mathew was busy. I feel that I was played out of a position and it was handled very unprofessionally. I’m a previous district manager so I know how to conduct interview processes and this was by far the most unprofessional way to do this. I now have to call my old interviews back and reschedule to attempt to find employment elsewhere after being told I had a supervisor position at the Y. I have emails of all the interviews as well with Mathew and Kristen. Even if I was turned down for the position I should’ve been told a week ago not left to wonder. I would like to speak to someone in HR to clarify this situation asap!

Desired outcome: I’d like to speak to HR and let them know about my unprofessional experience asap! Something needs to be done

YMCA Paying for classes

9/5/2023

I have been going to the Yfor over 10 years, then covid came, now I have been back since March. I have paid for the Les Mills, which I love.
The problems is I am paying for these classes and half the time the vitual class is not working so home I go.
I just went to take my class and there is a board meeting, so home I go.
Our classes have been stopped for machine not working, meetings, school pictures, and whatever the room is needed for but not for paying memebers, If it wasn't for Les MIlls I would go to the two gyms down the street. As much as I was happy I would never refere anyone to the Y classes.
Why should we have to pay if we don't get what we can for?

Desired outcome: Would like our classes when we are suppose to have them, please

YMCA Disrespectful behavior to seniors! Poor customer service.

Mel Korum YMCA in Puyallup, WA, Poor Christian deportment!

Front desk associate berated my Mother, a 70 year old woman, who said she could not hear her, as the associate is leaning down speaking to the floor instead of to her. Now we have a block on our account, unable to utilize the YMCA that we are paying for. unable to remove the block until we talk to the Senior Customer Service Agent, who is on vacation. YMCA Showers in men's restroom

3 showers... 1 dollar tree shower curtain, and 1 handle for the showers. You take the handle off and go shower to shower with the handle turning on the water so you can find which shower has the hot water. Ceiling panels missing. MOLD AND MILDEW all over walls and ceiling as you can see in the pictures. Also have video that was sent to health department. When I asked about the bathroom getting clean 3 months ago I was told to be patient. Fast forward 3 months this is what are YMCA bathrooms and showers look like. 💩

The place is so nasty and unhealthy.

Desired outcome: I want them to get the men's showers clean. Prison showers are more clean and healthier than this. As you can see mold and mildew all over the ceiling and walls. Pike County health department has been notified of this nastiness

YMCA Bad customer service

I went into the Santa Monica location today on Westgate to exercise. I was not greeted but treated very rudely by Shalia. She was having the personal social conversation with someone that was leaving and I could not scan my barcode to get in. Her friend said “guess it doesn’t like you” when I got rejected from entrance. Instead of trying to help, she laughed with the member and then just ignored me. Finally I said can you stop having the social gathering and just let me in. Carlos who was sitting at the desk could care less.

Then, 15 minutes later I came back and told Carlos and he was passive and unhelpful. At one point I did use some foul language but as I explained to Carlos, it doesn’t help matters when you are in a bad situation and they just keep laughing and don’t care.

Please reprimand these two for their terrible customer service and I would like to cancel my membership

YMCA After school care

My son goes to the Petal MS YMCA and has been going since last school year. Since we have enrolled, my son has been hurt on quite a few different occasions. The initial issue is the staff is not watching the kids. They have been left unattended, and have made up games that include possibly harming one another. This last game of “tag with pencils” left my son with a scar on the inner corner of his eye which could’ve caused permanent eye damage. The director wouldn’t even tell my husband what happened when he came to get our son one afternoon, but instead told a younger employee to tell my husband about the incident. This occurred on august 11th. Monday I asked for corporate phone number when a lady told me the YMCA doesn’t have one, but would have someone call me. Tuesday August 15th 2023 I received 3 calls in a row, but I haven’t spoken with anyone yet. I wanted to have this brought up reguardleas of what the directors want to tell me, but I can tell many more occasions like the last that have happened at the Petal location, and even when I’ve brought it up to them, they state they will make changes, but here we are back in the same situation. I’m sure many other parents want to complain, but won’t because this is one of the only daycares open til 6pm for after school care so it best fits my schedule, but how can I keep sending him there if every time he goes, he gets bullied by other kids and the teachers aren’t even watching them to see it happening, so they can’t stop it. Just yesterday august 15th, my son came home and said another young boy punched him 3 times, and the director was no where to be found, instead a young boy told my husband “he had an altercation with another kid” and then walked away. After hearing what my son said about it, he said no teachers were stopping what was happening to him. This is unacceptable. But as a parent, I don’t have many choices for after school care, but they have got to do better than this. I just want my son to be watched and taken care of, and I pay the Y to do that, but they have fallen short. If you have any further questions, please reach out. I have a couple more times this has happened.

Desired outcome: Teachers to watch the kidsDirector to personally handle delicate situations ex: when kids get bullied / get into fightsFor the parents to see the teachers engaging and teaching our children, not just sitting by watching them create chaos.
