VCA Animal Hospitals VCA Southwick - Incomplete care for our puppies

We brought in our litter of 8 precious Golden Retriever puppies to VCA Southwick,MA for a full vet exam and were informed later that their exam and care was incomplete.

No individual record cards were accompanied with the puppies along with any pertinent health documentation, staff reported they no longer do that, Veterinarian wasn’t able to complete paperwork in proper time, we left without puppy medical records.

In addition, speaking with a member of a VCA animal hospital in Westfield, they confirmed that all puppies during their litter exam are accompanied with free first preventative heart worm medication, this option was never provided or even offered at VCA Southwick.

Representative at VCA Southwick reported they don’t provide that with health exams…. What?

Is your staff not up to date with codes, examination expectations?

Also, the first examination and “care” bill was astronomical high and double that of any other participating licensed veterinarian. After several calls made to local vet areas, the individual price for a puppy vaccine is on average $35 at other veterinary hospitals vs a whopping $66 at VCA animal hospital.

At check out, Sabrina the receptionist (had no name tag just “cashier written on receipt), was repeated “hello “ twice, she still made no connection with greeting a customer. Sabrina was asked to break down the cost of the bill due to the high amount, very clearly she didn’t want to but after much deliberation did and never offered any addition payment plan options, just to rush us out the door. Not one staff ever asked to help us with our litter of 8 puppies, couldn’t even clean the floor of the examination room, we walked around in dog urine.

As a health professional for over 10 years and a loving pet owner it’s clear that VCA Southwick failed with expectations of what an animal hospital should be. Staff have poor training with customer service, billing expectations and clearly appropriate care for people’s animals.

We will never be returning to VCA Southwick animal hospital and have transferred our pets to a more reputable veterinary hospital with better reviews, services and customer service.

Recommendation: Please call ahead of time with pricing and your expectations

VCA Animal Hospitals Avoid VCAHospitals in Austin: Poor Care, Medication Errors, and Fraudulent Advertising

I gotta say, I had a pretty bad experience with VCAHospitals in the Austin, Texas area. My poor dog was given Graves' Disease by a clinic that is now owned by VCA, and unfortunately, he didn't recover from it. It was all because of a medication error, which is just unacceptable.

Fast forward ten years later, and I found myself in another unfortunate situation with VCA. The veterinarian who was supposed to help my dog was overbooked, so they sent me to another VCA vet. This one couldn't even recognize that my dog was in an emergency situation, and didn't even bother doing most of the exam or necessary labs. I mean, come on, they don't even have onsite labs? That's just fraudulent advertising if you ask me. The vet told me to wait on unnecessary testing for treatment, and unfortunately, my dog passed away just hours later in a pretty awful way.

Honestly, I don't think that vet could pass a basic veterinary triage exam. She never even mentioned what actually killed my dog, and insisted on something else. And to make matters worse, my primary vet probably caused that emergency by pushing VCA branded supplements that interfered with medication. It's just a mess.

Overall, I would definitely avoid VCAHospitals in the Austin area. They're just not good corporate veterinarians, especially when there are so many good private vets and other better veterinary chains out there. Plus, they're wildly overpriced and can't even do basic emergency triage. It's just not worth it.

VCA Animal Hospitals Negligence and Racism at VCA Aventura Animal Hospital: A Heartbreaking Experience

I'm writing this review to share my experience with VCA Aventura Animal Hospital. I've been taking my chihuahua there since 2016, but unfortunately, my recent visit ended in tragedy. Dr. Nikki Cutrone, also known as Dr. Nikki Zisholtz or Dr. Nikki Cutrone Zisholtz, examined my dog on July 15, 2021. She performed an x-ray and prescribed cough syrup. However, my dog passed away on July 28, 2021. I'm heartbroken and devastated.

I believe Dr. Cutrone was negligent in her care for my dog. She never provided me with the results of the x-ray, and I feel like she didn't care about my dog's well-being. It's disappointing because VCA Aventura Animal Hospital claims to care about pets, but in my experience, they only pretend to care.

In addition to my negative experience with Dr. Cutrone, I also experienced racism from one of the vet techs, Giovanni. In December 2020, he told me that his chihuahua doesn't like BLACK people. As a BLACK woman, I was offended and left two messages for the office manager, but she never returned my call. Over the years, I've noticed a lack of diversity among the customers and employees at VCA Aventura Animal Hospital. It's disheartening to see that skin color still matters in this day and age.

I'm not a racist person, so I ignored other signs of racism. However, I can't ignore the pain I feel from losing my beloved pet. I'm sharing my experience to help others who love their pets. On August 23, 2021, Dr. Urday apologized for Dr. Cutrone's mistake, but an apology can't take away the pain I feel. No pet owner should have to go through this because of a doctor's negligence.

In conclusion, I urge everyone to be careful when choosing a veterinarian for their pets. Don't just go to the closest one or the one with the best reviews. Do your research and make sure they truly care about your pet's well-being.

VCA Animal Hospitals Poor Customer Service and Unnecessary Charges at VCA Hospitals

I've been taking my furry friend to VCAHospitals for a couple of years now and it was all good until my last two visits. We went in for our dog's annual shots and to have a look at his paw that he was limping on. The doctor gave our dog the Bordatella shot, which is optional and we don't usually get, without even asking us. I only found out about it when we were checking out and I saw the charge. I asked the receptionist about it and she replied, "too bad we can't squeeze the medicine back out of him!" That shot cost us over $50, which was quite a lot. We were also prescribed some medicine to help with his paw and were told to make a follow-up appointment. I was told that the appointment would be free of charge since it was a follow-up. However, when we went to the appointment and checked in, we waited for about 10-15 minutes before being told that they had canceled our appointment. They had called my home phone, but I didn't receive the message. I should have been notified when I checked in, but they didn't do that. My son made another appointment a few days later, and after that appointment was made, I received 4 text messages, 1 call on my cell phone, 1 email, and 1 call on my home phone. I wondered why they didn't do that when they canceled the previous appointment. When my son came to the next appointment, he was charged for a follow-up appointment. I called immediately and expressed my frustration with this office. I was told that a manager would call me back, but I NEVER received a call. I waited for 2 weeks and called back again and told them my frustration. They assured me that Sarah would call me that day, but she NEVER called, and I haven't heard from anyone there for 2 weeks now! I don't think I'll be going back to this vet. I advise people to look over their bill before they pay it because once they get their money, they don't seem to care about your concerns!

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointing Experience at VCA Petmed: Overpriced and Unfriendly Walk-In Services

My daughter's dog (LJ) got into the garage and I was worried that something might be seriously wrong. Luckily, one of the vets at VCAHospitals had a cancellation so LJ was seen right away. I expected to spend a couple hundred dollars since LJ needed an x-ray, which cost $180. However, the vet, K. L., DVM, kept talking like LJ had been vomiting a lot, but LJ had only vomited once. Dr. K. L. talked to me, not with me, which made me feel uneasy. Then she started talking about giving LJ meds to settle the GI irritation. Being worried about LJ, I agreed to 2 prescriptions and 2 injections. However, I was never given an initial or updated treatment plan/estimate. I was NEVER TOLD the injections of Famotidine/ Pepcid & Maropitant were $26.75 & $107.45, respectively. If I had known, I would have said "NO". Needless to say, I was very upset that my bill totaled $476.00. I called to get my $107.45 refunded, but the hospital manager told me multiple times that because it was treatment LJ received, my $107.45 could not be refunded. I corrected her, saying that she could but wouldn't refund my money. She admitted that was actually the case.

On a previous occasion, VCAHospitals contacted the incorrect person to get authorization for additional testing. I argued and got that charge removed. This facility used to be a small private Veterinary Hospital where a doctor saw appointments, walk-ins, and surgeries every day. Walk-ins were truly welcome and received the same treatment whether they needed emergency treatment or an annual exam. However, since VCA took over, the services continue to decline while charges continue to increase. VCA charges $15 extra for walk-in patients. Plus, VCA wants you to make an appointment for a walk-in time-frame, which is just plain stupid and contrary to the whole philosophy of convenient & easy patient access. VCA charges a day-boarding fee if your pet is there without a human, even if it's at their request and/or for their convenience. VCA obviously does not know how to provide patient-friendly and convenient walk-in services.

This is one more case of small business services being far superior to those from a corporation. My family will never use VCA Petmed, Antioch, TN, again. It's a shame that VCAHospitals has lost sight of what's important - providing quality care for pets and their owners.

VCA Animal Hospitals Warning: Do Not Take Your Pet Here - Worst Vet Hospital Experience

This place is the worst vet hospital I've ever been to. The receptionists and doctors were unable to answer my questions about my cat's health problems, and they refused to work with me money-wise. It took five hours of applying for loans and asking my family members for help before they even suggested a "back-up plan" or "last resort plan," which was only a third of the initial bill. After finally letting me know about this last option, they did not give me proper information on how to properly maintain my cat, even when I asked, and failed to send me home with the proper equipment to help my cat through his pain. They did not give me pain medicine for him, and told me "He should be fine by tonight or early the next morning." When he was not "fine" the next morning, I took him back in to get whatever they messed up, fixed. They refused to fix it and told me "you can pay everything we need to fix him, or you can put him down." About an hour later, with no other options, because I couldn't pay, I decided I had to put him down. But wait, after they had given me those ONLY two options, and I had given them my final decision, they said, "Well. We can go ahead and take care of him anyways. But he can't be yours anymore. You'll have to surrender him."

Who the hell screws with someone like that over their beloved pet? There is something extremely wrong with this place. They're disgusting. After surrendering him, they told me they have someone willing to foster him and he'll be up for adoption on their website. Well, I did my research. And even asked them which places they adopt him out from. Guess what they told me? That they "don't adopt out, and have no association with any adoption agencies."

What the f*** is wrong with this place? Disgusting people here. Do not go here. A good vet is in Pomona, off of Gary and the 10 freeway. Never go to this Upland vet. They're despicable human beings and had no sympathy for me losing my baby boy. Never once apologized for failing to inform me of everything he needed, and withholding information about the well-being of my precious furbaby.

If you care about your pet, you won't take them here.

VCA Animal Hospitals Terrible Experience at VCAHospitals: Lack of Care and Empathy for Pets

I was referred to VCAHospitals when my dog had an emergency. When I arrived, the receptionists seemed unaware of why I was there, even though my referring vet had called ahead. I explained the situation, but they didn't seem to care. Despite the lack of other patients, I was made to wait for 45 minutes while they created a new patient account. Finally, we were taken to a triage room where we waited another 45 minutes for a tech to come in and take notes. After an hour, someone came in and demanded payment for an outstanding balance, even though I had just created a new account. I reluctantly paid the $600 fee, even though I felt it was extortion. An hour later, the tech returned my credit card and said we could leave without paying. However, she then informed me that I would need to pay another $700 for the estimate of services. I paid it, and they took my dog's blood. After another 45 minutes, a tech came in and said they needed to take my dog to the back for more blood. When I asked why, she said she didn't know because my dog wasn't her patient. It turned out my dog had an infection and needed medication. When I went to check out, the cashier claimed I hadn't paid anything yet, even though I had a receipt. I paid another $450 for the medication. The discharge orders were given by a tech who couldn't answer any of our questions. The vet who saw my dog should have done that. Overall, it was a terrible experience. VCAHospitals only cares about money, not pets. They showed a disgusting lack of care and empathy. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Additionally, I received a writeup from VCA that described my dog as "unkempt," which was insulting and inaccurate. My dog is a clean, well-cared-for labradoodle who just doesn't have a fancy haircut.

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointing Experience with VCAHospitals: Lack of Compassion and Poor Judgments

I gotta say, my experience with VCAHospitals was not the best. My dog was having some serious issues with his hind legs, and we had just been to another emergency vet the day before. They had prescribed some meds and said to wait it out. But when we went to VCAHospitals, they said we needed an MRI and possibly surgery, which we couldn't afford. They didn't seem to think the meds would work, and they gave us a pretty grim prognosis. We left in tears and had to make the tough decision to euthanize our dog.

But then something miraculous happened. Overnight, our dog started using his back legs again! We were overjoyed, but when we went back to VCAHospitals to ask if there was hope, they basically told us to give up and euthanize him. They even refused to refill his meds, which were helping him recover. They said they were "controlled substances" and couldn't be refilled without seeing our dog in person. But he couldn't walk, so that wasn't an option.

Thankfully, we found a compassionate vet from Lap of Love who understood the importance of the meds in our dog's recovery plan. He called in the prescription and helped us manage our dog's pain. It turns out our dog may have IVDD, which can often be treated with rest, therapy, steroids, and pain management. There was hope after all!

Overall, I was disappointed with VCAHospitals. They seemed to lack compassion and made some poor judgments about our dog's care. We've been using them for over 25 years, but this experience has made me question whether they're really the best option for our pets.

VCA Animal Hospitals Terrible Experience with VCA Palmetto: Misdiagnosis, Incompetence, and Negligence Resulted in Amputation of My Cat's Leg and Tail

My experience with VCA Hospitals was absolutely terrible. I had a new vet, Dr. Maura, who completely messed up and misdiagnosed my cat's leg fracture. She also missed her hip and tail fractures, which were caused by an attack from a large animal. Dr. Maura claimed it was a "cat bite," even though the wound was much larger than any cat could cause. She cleaned the wound but didn't bandage it, and then put the dirty shirt back on the wound, which contaminated it. She suggested we take the cat to a specialty hospital four hours away, but we couldn't afford it after spending almost $1300 at VCA Palmetto.

Dr. Maura charged us for pre-surgery blood work even though we told her we were taking the cat to our regular vet the next day. Dr. Julie, another vet at the hospital, told us that Dr. Maura's diagnosis was wrong and that our cat had hip and tail fractures as well. Dr. Maura wasn't even going to give pain medication or antibiotics, but luckily my sister, who is a vet tech, made sure we left with some. However, the pain medication didn't work, and the antibiotic wasn't even the right one for the wound.

Dr. Maura didn't give us any education on how to care for the wound or provide any supplies. It was clear that she was just trying to get as much money out of us as possible. Thankfully, my sister helped stabilize my cat until we could take her to our regular vet the next day. Our vet retook x-rays and charged us $140 for the correct antibiotics, appropriate pain medication, supplies, laser therapy, and debridement.

When I complained to VCA Palmetto, I spoke to Dr. Buerkle, the Medical Director. She only refunded the emergency office visit fee of $127 and said she would use it as a learning opportunity for Dr. Maura to improve her communication skills with clients. But what about her incompetence and wrong diagnosis? My cat had to have surgery to amputate her leg and tail because of this malpractice.

It's clear that VCA Palmetto is all about the money and not the well-being of their clients. Dr. Buerkle is covering up for Dr. Maura, who had no senior supervision and was left on her own to do further damage to my poor cat. I wouldn't trust these money-grubbing idiots with my beloved pets. Thank goodness for vets like Dr. Julie at Lori's Animal Hospital, who put their patients' well-being first. Shame on you, Dr. Buerkle and your practice.

VCA Animal Hospitals Warning: Negligence at VCA Roswell Animal Hospital caused my puppy to lose a leg and foot. Don't trust them with your beloved pets

I recently had a terrible experience with VCA Roswell animal hospital that I feel compelled to share. My 10-month-old German Shepherd puppy had a dislocated hip and I took him to VCA for treatment. The attending vet, Jessica Corley, assured me that it was a simple fix and just needed to be set back in place and wrapped. She also suggested getting x-rays to check for hip dysplasia, which would cost an additional $400.

I was told to watch my puppy's toes to make sure the wrap wasn't too tight. Two days later, my puppy was clearly in discomfort and crying, so I brought him back to VCA. The facility director, Roper D. V. M., checked the wrap and cut slits in the leg. However, two days later, my puppy's toes were swollen and the front desk clerk, Danielle, told me not to bother coming in as they were closing in 30 minutes. I drove home and removed the bandage myself, only to find that my puppy's foot was oozing watery blood and his circulation had been cut off. His foot was already dead and it was too late.

When I called VCA on Saturday, they refused to see my puppy and insisted that the drainage was normal. They made me an appointment for Monday, but when I arrived, my puppy had a fever and an infection and wasn't getting circulation to his foot. They apologized and said they would try to reestablish circulation, but I would need to pick him up by 9 PM and drive him to a 24-hour vet to be monitored overnight. Then I would have to bring him back to VCA for the next two weeks.

A day later, my puppy was rushed to Blue Pearl in Sandy Springs, GA by vet ambulance to see a surgeon. It was at this point that I learned he would lose a leg. My dog has been at VCA on heavy sedatives and an antibiotic pump this entire time, and each passing day I take my son to visit him. Finally, I took my dog to The University of Georgia where he is having a partial leg amputation and being fitted for a prosthetic.

I want to warn others about my experience with VCA Roswell animal hospital. They are not to be trusted and their negligence caused my puppy to lose a leg and foot. Please be careful when choosing a vet for your beloved pets.

VCA Animal Hospitals Negligence at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Care Specialists: My Experience with Hyperthyroidism and Heart Disease in My Cat Harvey

VCAHospitals is a veterinary care provider that has been receiving some negative reviews lately. However, I would like to share my experience with them. I had to take my cat, Harvey, to VCA San Francisco Veterinary Care Specialists for a hyperthyroidism case. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned, and my cat suffered greatly due to the negligence of the doctors.

Harvey suffered a thromboembolism (saddle thrombus) and was paralyzed from the waist down. This is a symptom of heart disease, which is a secondary condition caused by hyperthyroidism. However, the doctors failed to identify this and falsely told me that there was no effective treatment for Harvey. They even pressured me to euthanize him, which was devastating for me.

The doctors at VCAHospitals fraudulently concealed the fact that hyperthyroidism causes heart disease and failed to inform me that heart disease is reversible when hyperthyroidism is treated. They prescribed an inadequate dose of thyroid medication and warned me against giving even that pitiful dosage. They also failed to provide me with guidance on how to recognize the symptoms of congestive heart failure (CHF) and pulmonary/pleural edema, which are life-threatening conditions that Harvey was at risk of developing.

As a result of their negligence, Harvey suffered from respiratory distress, hypertension, heart murmur, cardiomegaly, cardiomyopathy, and congestive cardiac disease. He needed expensive and stressful echocardiograms and other expensive treatments that had been pushed on me. However, what Harvey needed was a proper dosage of the thyroid medication, methimazole. When Harvey finally got a higher dosage, the other problems started to resolve. Not only did Harvey's breathing stabilize with adequate thyroid medication, but also his anorexia and weight loss resolved. His appetite returned, and after many months he was finally restored to his original weight of 11 pounds.

I am currently pursuing legal action against VCA San Francisco Veterinary Care Specialists and The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for their mistreatment of my cat. I believe that they are jointly and severally liable for $10,000 for their negligence, which caused me to incur significant financial losses and emotional distress.

In conclusion, I would not recommend VCAHospitals to anyone. They are not trustworthy and do not have their patients' best interests at heart. If you are looking for a veterinary care provider, I suggest that you look elsewhere.

VCA Animal Hospitals Accusation on questioning business policy pricing

When I asked questions about their pricing policy, I was told by the attendant that she did not feel safe and then left the room. My wife and I were stunned. The lead clinic doctor came in and told me to leave, my wife could stay. We tried to explain that all we were asking is that if we can trust the clinic as we had been double charged before. The last time I was in the attendant insisted on quoting me prices on dental surgery even though i had asked to not be given such. This recent totally wrong accusation has resulted in my not wanting to leave my home, as now I do not feel safe.

Desired outcome: apology

VCA Animal Hospitals Attitude office manager

Was given false medical information by an employee there. They refused to see my cat. Because I wrote an “abrasive” reply to an email they sent me in which there was no answer to my question and no effort to find records where I said that they would likely be. In my “abrasive” reply I used the words resent, annoyed, and rude, in response to THEM. Apparently they won’t see you unless you’re really looking forward to spending time and money on a routine visit simply to get a prescription for a cats obvious worm infestation. The office manager even admitted I was polite in-person. But apparently she could not handle the fact

That I said I was annoyed but wouldn’t let show or be an issue in our interactions. Very weird and scared of ANYONE who does not plaster a huge fake smile on their faces and gush about how wonderful it is to spend lot of time and money on what should be an over the counter med. 4 days later my car was dead.

Desired outcome: Hello. My name is David stariha. You killed my cat.

VCA Animal Hospitals Care Credit only 6 months no interest

On 8/3/2023 I had my cat at the Dunmore VCA in PA the bill was 369.52. I used care credit which would allow me to pay off slowly. VCA Dunmore only allows 6 months on a 299.00 -1000 bill. That is ridiculous! I used care credit there before and it was given a longer period. I called care credit and was told it was VCA that uses 6 months. I called VCA Dunmore the office manager stated that'hs what they use the 6 months.

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and I also get my dogs groomed there. I will be looking for another vet. I am not returning to VCA Dunmore ever again.

It seems as long as they get their money, they don't care about the customer. I am on social security and now the payment is doubled to pay in 6 months.

VCA Animal Hospitals Cost

Exorbitant pricing. Preying on pain. $5.88 for one Amlodipine pill vs. $.17 cents at any pharmacy. Echocardiogram - VCA subcontracts, and adds $500.00 out of an $800.00 charge. Corporate vets pushing product. Can't diagnose without expensive tests. You know one test will lead to more expensive $$$$$$ tests. Vet has no real-world training. Clearly trained to profit company on pet owner's backs. VCA - $2.2 billion in revenue three years ago. $6 billion of pet owner's money last year. VCA sent out thousands of letters to independent pet practices essentially threatening them if they don't sell to VCA. VCA buys diagnostic companies and software companies to dominate the market. Animal shelters can't find homes because VCA has pushed the price of care beyond what human hospitals charge.

VCA Animal Hospitals Deposit policy

With this day and age, safety is my main concern.

With VCA in Kent Washington demanding a deposit for a appointment I made for as a new client for my new kitty Lexi..

As for me, am Deaf and rely on texting for my communication needs.

I made a appointment on the VCA website and confirm it with that site.

I have been bomber with texts from Kat at the Kent VCA, demanding a deposit as well all the Q& A's about Lexi which I have input all the necessary information on the VCA website.

I just feel being targeted and harassed by the staff..

Desired outcome: I would like a apology .

VCA Animal Hospitals Dispensing fee rip - off

Needed to pick up one Cerenia pill for our pup

Cost of pill around $5, but dispensing fee was $ 23.00 This took place on June 22, 2023 in Richmond Hill, Ontario

At the pet pharmacy , the dispensing fee by qualified pharmacists is $8.83. This is a huge difference , and how do you justify this discrepancy?

Why are customers being ripped off to this extent?

Vet fees are high , so why price gouge on medications dispensed at veterinary clinics?

Desired outcome: Reduce to dispensing fees in line with pet pharmacy rates.

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointing Service at VCAHospitals: Doctor Suggested Euthanasia Despite Request for Other Options

I went to VCAHospitals with my pet and I was not happy with the service. The doctor was not very nice and did not seem to care about my pet. I was very upset and emotional, but the doctor did not seem to understand. She kept telling me that I should euthanize my pet, even though I asked for other options. I did not like this at all.

When I called the hospital to talk to the doctor, she was very argumentative and did not want to come out to talk to me in person. I was very disappointed with this. I felt like she did not care about my pet or my feelings. Eventually, she kicked me out of the hospital.

I would not recommend VCAHospitals to anyone who wants their pet to live. There are many other vet hospitals out there that have staff who truly care about animals and their profession.

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointing Experience with VCAHospitals: Automatic Renewal and Double Payments

So, I gotta say, I had a pretty frustrating experience with VCAHospitals. First off, I didn't realize that my plan would automatically renew every year on the same date that I signed up. They only told me this once, and then never mentioned it again. I mean, come on, how am I supposed to remember that kind of thing a whole year later? So, when they renewed my plan without any warning, it caught me off guard and I ended up with a bill that I wasn't expecting. Let me tell you, that really put a dent in my wallet - I'm talking a couple hundred bucks here.

But that's not even the worst part. These guys took my payment out on December 9th, and then AGAIN on the 23rd. Like, what the heck? I was lucky that it didn't overdraft my account, because if it had, I would have been seriously considering taking legal action against them.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with VCAHospitals. They really need to do a better job of communicating with their customers and making sure that they understand all the terms and conditions of their plans. And seriously, taking payments out twice in one month? That's just ridiculous.

VCA Animal Hospitals Unethical Practices at Animal Clinic: Putting Profit Over Pet Care

This place ain't all that great. They seem to care more about making money than taking care of animals. They don't answer questions and they always try to push a bunch of tests on you, even if they ain't really necessary. They don't follow the standard of care, they just do whatever they can to make more money. They won't give you a straight answer about your pet unless you keep on spending money. I called them four times in a month and each time they gave me a different price for the same dang x-ray. If they really cared about animals, they'd do more to help owners afford to save their pets' lives. But no, they just care about making money off of them. It's a real shame.

VCA Animal Hospitals Warning: Do Not Trust VCAHospitals with Your Pet's Remains

I recently brought my furry friend to VCAHospitals for medical attention. Unfortunately, my beloved pet passed away unexpectedly and it was a very difficult time for me. I expressed my desire to have my pet cremated and was given a booklet with options for cremation arrangements. I selected and paid $130 for an urn to have my pet's remains returned to me.

However, when I called to inquire about the status of my pet's remains, I was informed that the communal cremation option had been selected and my pet's remains were not going to be returned to me. The employee simply apologized and did not offer any refund for the services that were not rendered.

Losing my pet was already a painful experience, but knowing that my pet's remains were not being treated with the respect and care that I had requested was even more devastating. It was a mistake made by an incompetent employee at VCAHospitals and it has caused me a great deal of pain.

I hope that others do not have to experience this kind of pain and disappointment. I strongly advise against trusting VCAHospitals with the care of your pets or their remains.

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointing Experience with VCA Indian Trace Vet in Weston, FL: More Interested in Money than Quality Care

I recently had an experience with a Vet at VCA Indian Trace in Weston, FL that left me feeling quite disappointed. My cat had been acting a bit off, but nothing too serious. When I explained this to the Vet, she immediately presented me with a list of 8 different items that she wanted me to pay for. I was taken aback by this, as most of the items on the list were not necessary. For example, she wanted to inject my cat with pain medication, even though he wasn't in any pain! She also insisted on giving him two injections for nausea and vomiting, even though he wasn't experiencing either of those symptoms.

To make matters worse, VCAHospitals.com had an offer on their website that promised to waive the consultation fee if any treatment was needed. However, when I pointed this out to the Vet, she claimed to know nothing about it. I ended up paying $64 for absolutely nothing, which was quite frustrating.

Overall, I would caution others to stay away from this particular VCA location. It seems as though they are more interested in making money than providing quality care for pets.

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointing Experience at VCA Apache Animal Hospital: More Interested in Money Than Helping My Cat

I took my cat to VCA, Apache Animal Hospital in Sierra Vista, Az because she was vomiting three times a day. The staff examined my cat for about 10 minutes and then gave me a list of tests they wanted me to pay for. The total cost of the tests was $2,200.00! I negotiated with them for two hours and finally agreed to pay for the thyroid, kidneys, and urine tests, which cost $328.00. The results of the tests were negative for all conditions.

The staff suggested that I feed my cat gastrointestinal food and gave me a quarter of a bill for vomiting, which cost $22.00! I found the exact same medication on Chewy for $19.98 for a pack of four pills. I ended up spending a total of $435.00 on food and medication, but my cat still wasn't feeling better.

I called the hospital to ask for a prescription for the vomiting pills, but they refused to give it to me unless I paid for the remaining tests, which would have cost $2,000. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to pay for the additional tests, so my poor cat is still vomiting and not getting any better.

Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at VCA, Apache Animal Hospital. The staff seemed more interested in making money than in helping my cat. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone looking for quality care for their pets.

VCA Animal Hospitals Unprofessional and Uncaring Treatment: A Review of Dr. Longo and His Clinic

I gotta say, I ain't too keen on takin' my pooch to this clinic. Dr. Longo, bless his heart, treated our furry friend in a way that was downright unprofessional and uncaring. He didn't seem to have any emotion or compassion for our dog, and even went ahead with a procedure despite knowin' that our pup was old, had health issues, and a small heart murmur. That was a real problem, 'cause there was a good chance our dog wouldn't make it out alive.

And let me tell ya, our dog suffered somethin' fierce for two whole weeks after that procedure. We had to take him back to the vet (Dr. Longo again) to get an injection that would calm him down and ease his pain, but instead the doctor gave him an injection that made things even worse. Our poor pup was in so much pain that he passed away just a few hours after that visit.

It's a real shame, 'cause it seems like this clinic is all about the money. Dr. Longo didn't seem to care about our dog's well-being at all, and just treated him like another dollar sign. I will say, though, that the rest of the staff at the clinic was pretty good and kind. My criticism is solely directed at Dr. Longo himself.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend takin' your furry friend to this clinic. If you want a vet who actually cares about your pet and isn't just in it for the money, you might wanna look elsewhere.

VCA Animal Hospitals Unethical Billing Practices at VCAHospitals: A Review of My Experience

I had to take my feral cat CT to VCAHospitals in May because he was very sick. Dr. DeCamp saw him and confirmed my suspicions that CT needed to be humanely euthanized. I was devastated, but Dr. DeCamp was very kind and understanding. He even offered to do a necropsy to find out what was wrong with CT, but I declined because I didn't need the answers myself and didn't want to incur any further charges.

However, months later, I received a bill from VCAHospitals for the necropsy that I never asked for or approved. I was furious! I spoke with the staff and they confirmed that Dr. DeCamp had told me there would be no charge, but it seemed like someone had gone ahead and checked CT in for the necropsy anyway. I demanded to see the signed treatment plan, but they couldn't produce it.

I couldn't believe that VCAHospitals would stoop so low as to charge me for a service that I never requested. It seemed like they were just trying to make money off of my dead cat. I even wondered if they were diagnosing false anal gland infections just to bring in more revenue.

Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience at VCAHospitals. While Dr. DeCamp was kind and understanding, the billing department seemed to be more concerned with making money than providing quality care. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

VCA Animal Hospitals Disappointed with VCAHospitals: Hidden Fees and Cash Grab Tactics

I recently visited VCAHospitals for my second vet appointment after four weeks. During my first visit, I received a "promotion" which included a free exam. However, during my second visit, I noticed that I was charged an exam fee. When I inquired about it, they informed me that they usually don't charge an exam fee after just four weeks, but they would double-check. After waiting on hold for a while, they informed me that multiple boosters require an exam. I was never informed about this before the appointment, which made me feel a bit uneasy.

Furthermore, the vet called me back while I was waiting for them to bring my dog out and asked me to bring in a stool sample. They said it was to check for any worms or parasites. While I understand the importance of this, I informed the vet that my puppy had already received three worm medications to date. However, they insisted that it was good to check anyway. This made me wonder if it was just a cash grab.

The way they skirted around the exam fee made it very clear that they were trying to get the money back from the "free first exam." My neighbors even heard about VCA and how much of a cash grab they are. I would rather pay more at another vet knowing that they won't try to swindle me. Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at VCAHospitals and would not recommend them to others.

VCA Animal Hospitals Avoid VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital and Dr. Bischofhausen - A Terrible Experience with Lies and Poor Treatment

I gotta say, I ain't too happy with VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital in Irving, Texas. And let me tell ya, Dr. Bischofhausen ain't no good either.

Last year, Dr. B. told us some lies about my dog's cancer treatment. We trusted him and let him operate on our pup, but it turned out to be a useless surgery. And when we brought our dog home, he was sick as a dog - gagging, having trouble breathing, the whole nine yards. Turns out he had Laryngeal Paralysis LP, but Dr. B. tried to say it was just a coincidence. Yeah, right! And even though we spent a bunch of money and made lots of trips to his office, it wasn't Dr. B. who figured out what was really wrong with our dog or who successfully treated him for the cancer.

But that ain't even the worst part. VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital treated us like dirt!

When we started asking questions about Dr. B.'s practices and his tech, we asked for our dog's medical records. And what do ya know, they fired us as customers after we'd been going there for four years and paying all their bills. Can you believe that?

So yeah, I definitely don't recommend VCA Metroplex Animal Hospital or Dr. Bischofhausen. Stay away if you know what's good for ya.

VCA Animal Hospitals Rude staff and apparently the doctors too!

Simply, my cat has hyperthyroidism and I had an upcoming appointment with a new "regular" Vet because I have a list of test to be run for an upcoming radiocat.com appointment for a thyroid therapy procedure, which requires a x-rays other tests before their procedure can be done. I have just moved to the Alexandria area and chose to make an appointment with the VCA-Duke Street Veterinary clinic. I simply arrived to the appointment in Alexandria and could not find the office, as it's located in a quagmire of side roads of various sorts. I became obviously late; just 10 minutes, for an 8 am appointment. I finally pulled over on a side road and called the Vet clinic and told the lady I was lost. I was not helped to find the clinic at all. Indeed, I was told upfront that the doctor would not see me because it would "back up his schedule for the rest of the day." I told her I was not familiar with this area, that this Clinic was hard to find, and that my cat needed to be seen because she is in pain. It appeared to not matter at all, so I simply turned around and started my way back home. Then, 10 minutes later I received a call (as I was driving back home), by the same lady from the VCA clinic. She said the doctor would see me at 9m only because I had said the cat is in pain. Clearly, someone lied about the appointment schedule and did not care if my animal was in pain at all. But overall, it was rude to ME, the cat owner; and a new client at that, to lie about some "booked solid schedule" conflict that didn't apparently exist. Moreover, if I had read some of the very negative reviews for this practice, I would not have made an appointment there in the first place. I come from an area where I had been at the same Veterinarian clinic for at least the last 8 to 10 years (with my cats and dogs). Thus, PLEASE beware of using this clinic and obviously (from the reviews) this entire Veterinary practice, because someone once said, "People are often rude after being on the receiving end of rudeness!" My animals deserve Vets and their (front office) associates that are kind, compassionate, and whose mannerisms are respectable and trustworthy!
