Rent-A-Center Don't Pay Outright. They Lied and said I could have a refund

I had been looking for a coffee table and end tables for our guest home. I went to several different place and I didn't find any that I like. I had one more stop to make but I saw the Rent a Center store and thought well I check to see if they have something. The salesman I dealt with was Garrett. I told him what I was looking for and and he said he had 2 different sets. He showed me the sets. I explained that I had one more store I was going check and it was on my home (30 miles). There was one set that I liked but was not the exact color I was wanting. I asked him if I purchased it could I have a refund if the other store has what I wanted. He said "Let me check" He went into the back office and then came back to counter and said "Yes, I can do that." I purchased the item and he loaded it in my truck. I went to the other store and found the tables that I wanted. I drove back to the Rent a Center to get a refund on my credit card. Garrett was at lunch so I spoke with the Assistant Manager Jason. He told me they do not give refunds. (This item was brand new in the box. Had not been touched by anyone but Garrett in two hours). I explained to him what happened with Garrett and again he told be they do not give refunds but I could wait on Garrett to come back from lunch and discuss it with him. I waited for over 30 minutes. When Garrett arrived Jason had discussed this with him. When I approached Garrett and told him I needed my refund he said they did not give refunds. He lied! Of course I became angry because I spoke my mind. I told him and Jason to look at their cameras and they could see that Garrett lied. He told me I could call the 1-800 number and file a complaint. I left the store very angry. I was on hold for 47 minutes. I spoke with a young lady and explained everything that happened. She said she would send the complaint to the district manager and he would call me within 48 hours. That was 4 days ago. I have heard nothing. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They have absolutely no integrity. They lie just to get a sale. The worst service I have ever experienced with a company.

Rent-A-Center They hit my house with their truck, tire off the, roof and gutter, and left without saying a word!

They came out today to pickup a washer and dryer. I had them scheduled to come between 12PM and 3PM. They showed up at 1045AM when I was not home. My son was home and said they backed in, and when he came to the door to let them in, they were [protected]@ They did not knock or leave a note or anything. I called the district manager, and she said that they misunderstood the time and they would be back out after 12PM. They did show back up and took their merchandise. However, when I arrived home, I noticed that the roof over my carport was completely ripped off in the corner! There is a hole., and the drainage pipe was pulled off and ripped in half! They caused thousands of dollars in damage! And the best part? The guys who showed up the 1st time, decided that since they hit the roof they would leave and not say [protected]@ They thought no one was home so they would get away with it. Luckily, someone was home, saw them back in near the carport, and leave with a vengeance. I am livid that they would just leave! I called the district manager and she said she would put in a claim with their insurance. No apology, no nothing. I dont know if she did contact the insurance, I have no proof she did. I do have proof that the roof was fine the day before, (I have time stamped pictures of my front yard that shows the entire roof of the carport) I was taking pictures of my yard. This is UNACCEPTABLE! I do not own my home, and the landlord is going to be so mad. I am afraid that she will evict me because of this. They dont seem to really even care. And the district manager then says, the 1st guys who came out were from another store, that is out of her area. Basically, not taking responsibility as a district manager! To me, it is ALL RAC, I don't care WHAT store, or WHO came first! All I do know is that they caused several thousand in property damage, and they wont take responsibility for it. This, and them telling my family that I will be arrested if I don't call them to return the items! Sorry, but that is illegal for creditors to release information such as that, AND it is a civil matter (not a police matter). Besides the fact that I spent weeks in the hospital which is why I did not immediately reach back out. But I returned the items, and this is how they say thanks I guess. UNREAL

Rent-A-Center Years ago I moved into a new home

Years ago I moved into a new home. I was looking for nice furniture that I could afford while making house payments. I looked in many furniture stores for something unique and different. I did not have much luck since I was looking for something that would be durable but with darker colors. One day I was going to a dry cleaner and next store was a Rent A Center. I decided to just take a stroll and see what they had. Since I have never rented to own furniture I was a little skeptical. After going in I was surprised to find something I really liked. I found a black sofa, chair and love seat that had such a pretty pattern. It was like sprays of paint in multi colors. The set also had these really cool glass tables with stone bases. I also loved the lamps that where black poles that went up and over the sofa with 5 globe bulbs that fanned out over the furniture. This set was very different and was really neat. I talked it over with my boyfriend because I was not real keen on the idea of paying interest to rent to own. We both decided to do the transaction because I really wanted the set. Well let me say that I was happy at first until the sofa that I was paying so much for was starting to sag. I had the set for less than 1 year and the cushions where so messed up it was like sitting on a marshmallow. I had to keep turning them over to try and make the sagging not appear so much. I also was sorry I bought the tables because they never stayed clean. I had to dust them everyday. I did like them but they where a pain. I called the store and told them about the furniture falling apart. They did nothing and I was bound to a contract. Either make the payments or the furniture gets taken. Since I was so upset I went to the store to talk to manager there and advised him of what was going on. He never did anything to fix replace or repair the flabby furniture. I wound up paying it off. And then giving it away. I will never buy anything from these scam artist again. In the end I wound up paying almost double for furniture only because I liked the look. Well looks can be very deceiving. Remember this my friends. The sweetest candy can be rotten on the inside. These types of company's prey on people who can't afford to buy lavish furniture promising to back there products. What a big joke. I like the design of the furniture but if I knew it was put together with elmer's glue and cotton balls, I would have made it myself. I would have been better of with bean bag chairs at least they are meant to sag. I hope this helps anyone who may consider using fraud furniture stores. Rent-A-Center Unrecieved merchandise

I had ordered some merchandise. Was charged. Never got the delivery. And then now getting a my payment is late message this is ridiculous I never got anything delivered nobody ever contacted me about a delivery. I now have the product that I need and I would like my refund. It gives me no option to cancel on the website which is just crazy to me I would like to refund applied to the same card that I used to make the payment with please and thank you have a great day

Rent-A-Center Employee harasses me and threatened me

I have been in contact with rent a center for a month and a half through text letting him know that I lost my job and that I have no money to give. I just recently got a job but have not gotten paid enough yet to give them anything.

He called and threatened me and he was a total narcissist about it. I told him I’m a single mom and I have to feed my kids before I pay off the product.

I actually felt scared of him and called my boyfriend in tears because he was so rude

Rent-A-Center Unprofessional communication, Unprofessional customer service

I've been a customer since jan. 2023 agreement number [protected], In july 2023 we had a bad roach infestation I informed the store to take there fridge and stove back they never did so we placed them in storage during extermination which took 2 wks. They were damaged while in storage to where they were no longer functioning. I informed my store of this, was told it was my fault, I am still required to continue my payments even though merchandise has to be tossed. I continued making payments up until sept. 5 2023 when I lost my job. I informed the store I lost my job, how do they want to proceed in terms of me re paying them for lost product. I was told i'd get a call with in 48 hrs from store. Never got a call it's been 72 days after I heard from anyone or anyform of communication from the store, an on 11/14/2023 A rent a center driver showed up on my door demanding my 14 yr old daughter let him in to take everything out of our kitchen. I tried contacting the store multiple times an got hung up on each time. They know we no longer have the fridge and stove that is in our agreement they have known since july, an they have not contacted me for 72 days no email no phone call no text. There driver does not need to harrass a child. and it is poor customer service if you ignore a customer and payments im trying to work out for 72days. Why wait 72 days an then just randomly show up with out a word saying you are going take all of my stuff. I have tried to work with my local store on many occaisions regarding this issue an they have failed at each attempt.

Desired outcome: Stop contacting me , stop coming to my home. I am to resume payments if that is what store wishes on dec. 1. 2023 when i recieve my first pay from my new job if they are not going to accept these terms then please stop harassing

Rent-A-Center Unlawful entry

Rent a Center employees entered my home without anyone there, went into my bedroom and removed a television without my consent leaving my sliding door open and left. I call it HOME Invasion. This took place 09/22/23 at 3:36pm while I was in the Hospital. I was only a months behind and they knew that. Rent-A-Center Agreement [protected]

On [protected] I put in a request for a Queen bed with mattress, platform and headboard. It was a special online and the cost for 2 weeks would total $25.00 which was paid on [protected]. I have attached the receipt. After payment I did not receive a phone call only an email and I had to call the store to get the following information. On 8-21 I was scheduled for a delivery so I took PTO time to be home. About an hour before delivery I sent a message to ask if possible please give me 10mmins advance to put my dog away. I was told that delivery was not happening due to documents not being given or signed... I was never ever made aware of such documents. I sent information requested and I was told that they could not deliver until 8-29 so I asked if I could pick it up sooner to which they advised yes. I went to the store on 2 occasions only to find it was closed early and finally on 8-28 I met with someone in the store. He advised that I could not pick up due to them not having all my documents... again I was never made aware of this and gave everything requested prior. I gave additional documents and was able to pick up the bed minus the headboard as it would fit on 8-30. Once home I realised that the headboard was just too big for the room and let the store know I would return the end piece and to please update the cost. I took the item back to the store and was advised that due to lack of info they would start my PAID 2 weeks on 9-1 and my next payment due would be 9-15.

I was checking through my emails and noticed that a payment was processed on 8-31 in the amount of $92.19... not an amount I was ever expecting and not on the signed agreement. I also noticed that after removing auto-pay it was put into Auto-pay again without my consent. I removed Auto-pay again and soon after it was once again added to my account so I called the store. I was told that a refund would be made in the amount of $92.19 as I hadnt even had the items for a week yet and I had already paid for 2. I was also told that the payment amount would be lower and a new contract would be sent to me soon. A contract was sent and I waited to sign after I received a refund but this never happened. I callled the store and was asked to call back in 20mins and when I did there was no answer. Now I am showing I am in defualt as yet another payment was trying to come out of my account and I havent even had the partial items for 2 weeks. I have paid for 4 weeks already and additional funds were taken for?

Also, why am I being Auto-pay drafted after I have removed Auto-pay several times? This is Fraudulent and should not be possible without my consent. I have emails to show each and every time this happens if needed.

In a nutshell I have paid for a mattress and metal platform = $117.19 8-31 and I only had the items for 3 days. Now I am showing I am in default? I was under the impression I was getting a refund not another charge. Can someone please help me in anyway possible. I have blocked Rent-a-Center from taking any funds as I have not authorized any payments or even signed a new contract.

Desired outcome: Refund of all payments made and removal of my information. I am taking legal action for anything else.

I have called and complained to customer service, and nobody has reached out to me for a follow up on rude and disrespectful I was treated by the driver. I am waiting for my $25.00 confirmation for the funds to be back in my bank and I CAN NOT GET AN ANSWER ON THAT

Someone settle this today with showing me proof of cancellation and money being refunded.

Rent-A-Center Employee-Daniel @ Cleveland Rent A Center, Church Square Plaza

This is the second complaint that I have filed with no response. My former account manager, Amber, informed me that our rent to own agreement would be paid in full July, 2023. I am still making payments. The above named employee stated that I have to make five (5) more payments including the payment made in August, 2023.Daniel was very rude, and disrespectful. I am a long standing customer and have paid off several items purchased with your company. That being said, This situation needs to be remedied immediately. Here it is time for another monthly payment. I was told by the employee you need to make your payments on time. He also stated that the former account manager was doing some underhanded things and no longer works for the company. This is not my problem! I am a long standing , good paying customer and to be treated like this is unacceptable.

Desired outcome: My desired outcome for this situation is for the account to be marked paid in full as I was previously informed or at the very least some type of compromise.

Rent-A-Center Employee

Good evening,

My name is Tiffany Jones,I'm retired military, and I had a hard time of transitioning getting out honorably, so I didn't have lots of time to think. Your Employee was very rude, I contacted corporate about it and I will be emailing them. I was trying to get information on sending it back and not being able to pay, and they said they will call the law when I didn't know it would be reported as stolen. My intent isn't to steal, that's why I called and asked for information.

Desired outcome: Be able to make a payment plan for next month and switch locations.

Rent-A-Center Illegal dumping

Norwalk Rent a Center in Ohio illegally dumped a bed bug infested couch on our property. The police dept. called them and told them they needed to pick the couch up. As the property manager I called them and asked them to pick up the couch, the lady told me to call the police and hung up on me. She claimed a tenant gave them permission when asked who the tenant was it was not a tenant on our property instead it was another property. And tenants do not have this authority due to the fact we have to pay for this. The fact is the tenant didn't dump the couch their driver did. I have now been on hold for an hour for someone from customer service to file a complaint on the company. We are charged by the trash services for any furniture to be picked up this is unacceptable. Not to mention the health risk of a bed bug infested couch being left on our premises.

Desired outcome: Pick up their bed bug infested couch they illegally dumped.
