Billing / Customer Service
As we journey through our IVF process, Progyny insurance has been instrumental in coordinating our treatments and tests. While other providers seamlessly work with Progyny, our recent experience with Quest Diagnostics was disappointing. While my own billing inquiry was swiftly resolved, my wife encountered unprofessional conduct when attempting to address billing matters, leaving her emotionally drained. Moreover, I personally reached out to Quest Diagnostics, recalling previous successful interactions, only to encounter exceedingly rude customer service that abruptly hung up on me before the billing issue could be resolved. Consequently, we have chosen to discontinue our association with Quest Diagnostics and feel compelled to advise others against utilizing their services, as their customer service failed to meet our expectations.
Claimed loss: 5 Hours lost dealing with constant hang ups from rude customer service.
Desired outcome: Accept the Authorization code provided by our insurance company Progyny.

Medical laboratory assistant
Arrived more than 15 minutes prior to appointment. Next client arrived after me, he stated he did not have an appointment. Technician came out and looked at us both, and said I'll take you (pointing at the person without the appointment). This is contrary to their stated policy.
I was called in after him, by same tech, this was for a drop off of at-home-testing. A requisition form had been given to a previous lab tech, when I picked up the necessary testing gear. At that time, I requested a copy of the requisition form, because I have had previous problems with Quest techs stating "the physician requisition forms are not in the system," after personally giving those forms to Quest personnel. This time again, the tech stated the previous tech had not entered them in the system and I would need to get a copy. I told the technician a copy of the requisition form was in the one envelope for mail in results, I just happened to bring it with me. She tore the envelope open, with nitrile/latex gloved hands and said I would need to repair this and mail it in. I said I would not and she stated she would list me as a "refusal." I left the lab after receiving her first name. I immediately filed a complaint with Quest customer service and was told I would receive a call back in 1 to 4 hours. I did not. Attempting to file formal complaint a second time. Issue unresolved.
Desired outcome: Improved customer service and record keeping by Quest personnel

Online scheduling
They say “no more walk-ins” but make online appointment setting impossible. Happens each time I need. Bloodwork done: Fo to Quest site, choose location, select time that THEY show are open, then get message “ time u selected not available” You can select 100 positions THEY SHOW AVAILABLE and get same result. This will happen for at least three weeks ahead, or until your thumbs give out from typing. Cannot be done. I’ve been told for a year that “is a problem we’re aware of.” A year later, I guess they’re still aware.
Desired outcome: Let me make a damn appointment.

Lab work billing
I am not insured currently. My doctor ordered 6 tests. Shortly thereafter I was horrified to find my bill at almost $700.00.
At walkinlab.com, you can order specifically LabCorp or QUEST DIAGNOSTICS tests yourself. Had I known I was going to be robbed, I could have paid the cost of $233.00 total for ALL of my tests. This does not include the additional discount offer of 10% off of that total.
The response from the very rude "customer service" person at QUEST DIAGNOSTICS to explain the reasoning behind why I am being charged almost THREE TIMES the amount of the tests ... is that the doctor ordered it. This does not make sense at all. He ordered it for me. I would have gladly ordered it for myself had I known this was going to be the result.
Additionally, I have had these very tests semi-annually for YEARS with insurance and without, always through a doctor and have NEVER seen this outrageous pricing.
Terrible and unethical business practices.
Claimed loss: $447.53
Desired outcome: They update the billing to reflect the online pricing and I pay the rate advertised online.

Avoid Sarah
2600 Oxnard Quest. There is a large, very unpleasant, heavy-handed rood, nurse named Sarah and I advise everyone to avoid having to be under her needle. I’m a compassionate person and I’m sorry she doesn’t have plans for her birthday or Thanksgiving but it’s like she took that out on me and left my arm completely swollen and hurting, still over 7hrs later. For one vial of blood. Mind you two days prior. I had to give six tubes of blood which was taken by a wonderful, kind, sweet nurse named Jessica. Blood makes me crazy and I let both nurses now prior to my injection. Tell me why when I open my eyes, she has the blood sitting right in front of me this Sarah person who helped distract me by telling her unfortunate no plan life. Just take care of yourself and your loved ones and avoid her. A large nurse name, Sarah.
Billing
We have been in communication with Quest Diagnostics for over a year now. When I get blood work done, Quest will mail a bill to me. Upon receipt, I pay the bill via online banking. Then, I will receive a bill from Quest saying my account is past due. I go to online banking, print out a copy of the check (Proof of Payment) and mail that copy along with the past due notice to Quest. This process happens every single time I go for blood work. Then, out of the clear blue, Quest mailed a check to me for $15.00 on 9/6/23. On my next visit to the lab for blood work, they told me my account was past due. I have previously filed a complaint with you on November 8, 2023, complete with copies of the correspondence with Quest requesting a full audit of my account but have not heard from you. Please respond to via e-mail at [protected]@comcast.net. Thank you.
Desired outcome: Resolution.
Quest Diagnostics - Service
Staff at the Azle industrial Ave. unprofessional employee. She came and said” someone wit the last name that starts with “S” I understand my last name difficult to most people but I have a very easy first Name. She had bo idea of my first name either” she ask what’s the first name . She did recognize my last name as I pronounce it for her. Apparently she...

Every 6 months, I must have blood and urine test for kidney failure. The day I receive the bill, I pay it via online banking. There has been an ongoing problem with the funds being credited to my account at Quest. I receive a past due notice, go online to my account and print out proof of payment and provide a copy of the cancelled and endorsed check. This has been going back and forth all year. I have sent these proof of payment every single time and finally, on Sept. 6,2023, Quest sent a check to me for $15.00 (check #[protected]) I'm at my wits end with the creative accounting practices of the accounts payable department and would like to request a full audit of my account. In the meantime, I have set up a file for Quest with copies of all bills, all communication with the accounts payable department and copies of the checks online banking sent to Quest to pay my bills. Can you help me? [protected]@comcast.net
Desired outcome: Please order a full audit of my account with Quest Diagnostics so we can resolve what happened to the money online banking sent to Quest Diagnostics to apply to my account.
Customer service
I visited the 12731 Marblestone Drive location in Woodbridge, VA today and had to wait for 25 minutes just to ask a question regarding dropping a urine sample for my Mother, which should be easy to do within 10 minutes time. I apparently need to schedule an appointment just to drop something off or wait for hours, which is ridiculous.
The amount of time to wait to get an answer to a simple question was ridiculous, and the response was that I would have to wait until all of the patients with appointments were seen is ridiculous just to drop something off that shouldn't take more than 10 minutes time. The room was full and I would have been expected to wait the entire day or at a minimum two or more hours, the employees were extremely slow and no one seemed willing to address individual waiting at the counter to ask a question or to pick something up.
In the future I will ask that my and my Mother's physician send requests for lab work to LabCorp, they at least have people at the front desk that can answer questions and not keep you waiting until someone is willing to acknowledge you and answer your questions.
The company needs to have a better process for drop offs, better customer service for people that just need to ask a question,
My recommendation would also be to change your advertising become you do not get people in and out so that they can get back to their lives unless it is someone with an appointment and doesn't need to ask any questions.
Desired outcome: Better service for people with questions and drop offs.
Quest customer service is a joke
Quest Customer Service is a Joke. Usually I do not have an issue with the lab technicians at the Portola Hills Quest Laboratory. They have all been very nice, except for this new lab technician. She is a total nightmare. The issue is this — I went in today (10/2/2023) to have one lab performed. I handed her a single lab slip with one lab on it that was to be done.
She she took several vials of blood and I questioned her and asked her why she took so many vials of blood for one test. She stated that it was for all of the labs that were ordered on August 30th, which were for my pre-op, as surgery was scheduled on November 30th. I told her that she should not have done that as those labs were not to be performed until 25 days prior to surgery, meaning labs should not have been done until November 5th or so. She told me that I will have to contact the doctor and have more labs ordered. It may not seem like a big deal, but it really is.
It is annoying and she completely dismissed me and ignored what was on the lab slip. This is the second time she has done this. She is extremely rude and then she asked for payment and said I owed $15 before she could perform my labs.
I could not even made a compliant as there is no way to make a complaint against their employees, only about a payment, etc.
Blood work charged when I didn't go to them for blood work
On August 5 2023 I received a invoice for $502.82 for blood work on 3)29/23. I did not go to quest to have my blood drawn. I called them and they claim they have results and I have to pay the bill. I explained that this is impossible. They are standing their ground. Guess I have to take this to court? How can this be happening? My doctor office shows an order however I went to another lab. I have spoken to the other lab and they said my bill is paid in full and they have a completely different order and there is no way this is linked to them. This is insane.
Quest absolutely has no ground to stand on yet they claim they are correct. If they have blood and results it's not my blood.
Desired outcome: Quest needs to zero my eronous charges and send me a zero balance
Driver
Driver of vehicle 15906, License Plate # 9FNP731 - passed my brother travelling West on Ridge Road, (already going 60 in a 55) on a double yellow and entering a blind corner. July 14 @ about 6:55 pm.
Location is the second photo. Also known as Highway 104.
The first photo was taken when we caught up to driver at the stop light, a couple of minutes after. (lol)
We've all done dumb things driving, but this is a triple negative.
If he was carrying something time sensitive, then he should've had the proper equipment on his vehicle to ensure that the public is aware of that.
Desired outcome: I think an apology to my brother [from the driver] would be nice.Either way the driver needs to be made aware that he's being scrutinized by the public. The sticker on the van indicates that its speed is being monitored.....
Quest will NOT bill my secondary insurance!
Quest will NOT bill my secondary insurance! They have been contacted more than 15 times by myself and my secondary insurance and they say they'll send it over to Anthem but they never do!
This is beyond ridiculous to have to go through this for a company that is trying to rip me off instead of following through with the billing. I am going to be forced to contact the State of Ohio Insurance Department and the US Department of Health and Human Services!
Why should (we), I've seen the hundreds and hundreds of other patients who are going through the same nonsense!
I will NEVER use Quest again after this fiasco which STILL hasn't been resolved!
Desired outcome: Send the information over to Anthem! Like you said you've done numerous times
Quest blood billing
Hello. I contested a bill of $19.05 dated Dec 28,2022 acct# [protected], as it was PAID, I submitted all invoice/bill documents, copy of cashed check front and back # [protected] from my insurance subsidiary Health Equity [protected]. pd 4/4/23, sent to Quest collection website ccspayment.com
to: Credit Collection Services PO Box 337 Norwood MA [protected]. [protected] - by website:
RE : reference [protected] Submitted File # [protected] Corro ID EQ27V422FC
My main complaint is I went to Quest 8-12-23 for a blood draw-health maintenance (thru my Blue cross/Blue shield insurance) and was told they would refuse services if I did not pay the $19.05. seriously? what more do you need for proof of payment? Why would services be denied in this case? This is atrocious!
I paid the $19.05 but it is ridiculous and horrible billing and customer service. I request a credit of $19.05 to my Quest account plus $200 for damages. Next I will be asking my attorney for assistance.
Desired outcome: request a credit of $19.05 to my Quest account plus $200 for damages.
Billing
My husband had a kidney transplant. He has primary health insurance through his employer and secondary through Medicare (yes, it's secondary). He has been going to Quest for his labs, and they correctly bill the primary insurance. They say they are submitting the bills to Medicare also, but Medicare has not received any of the lab bills. Every time we call Quest billing, they say they're working on it. Last month, we called Medicare, and they confirmed they haven't received a bill. We then called Quest again, and the person acknowledged there is no record of Medicare being billed. She said she would put the account on hold again while they bill. However, we are still getting bills and threatened with collections by the lab in Gardner, Massachusetts. The lab in Gardner is now making us pre-pay for testing that we don't even know if we are liable for - this seems illegal as Quest is the one messing things up. We just want to know what we owe so we can pay it. I don't know if this is Quest willfully playing a game because they don't want to deal with Medicare or if they just don't know how to deal with Medicare as a secondary payer. We're tired of living in limbo - we just want to pay what's owed, but until both insurances have been billed, how do we know what's owed?
Desired outcome: For Quest to bill both the primary AND secondary insurance. After billing both, let us know what, if anything, is owed so we can pay it
Quest charged wrong insurance after being told numerous times (now sent bill to collections)
So I was on a program for my addiction and the doctors office and quest had some deal hooked up so that I was forced to go in every week and get a drug test sent to a lab despite multiple requests to not do this as it was a hassle when quest would send out the bill to only ONE of my insurance companies. I have Mass Health and Medicare so I know that one covers the stuff the other won't and I never end up having to pay out of pocket for anything.
Despite this, I recieved not 1 but 8 separate bills all for $120. Reading them you could almost think I only owed $120( Though the collection agency they forwarded it too is trying to ask for $960 ). I obviously called both my doctors and Quest to inform them they must have been charging only one of my insurance carriers, after waiting HOURS on hold I finally was able to talk to someone who said they could fixed the issue and that it would take some time to go through but that it should no longer be a problem(this was in august of 2021). Fast forward to now, I've moved and changed jobs and don't even go to that doctors anymore and yesterday I get brought mail from the person who lives at my last house that says I owe $960 to a collections agency "ARStrat".
Well I know that I shouldn't owe this money simply because of the insurance I carried at the time, the phone calls I had with both my doctors office and Quest, and because I was told BY QUEST that it was all taken care of. So I will be contacting my attorney, my insurance company, news media agencies, my state representatives at the state and federal level to inform them of this disgusting practice. No wonder medicare recently told these kinds of providers that they would only cover 1 visit a month starting this year, because Quest and these offices had some sort of deal worked out forcing me as a patient to go in every single week no matter what so they could fleece me and my insurance companies. I probably never would have noticed or cared if they had just billed my insurances correct but now... This is just disgusting.
Desired outcome: I would like my bill to be clear from collections.
Disrespectful lab technician
I was in the lab at Memorial Hermann Center for Advanced Heart Failure at 6400 Fannin St Ste 2500 Houston TX 77030, getting labs drawn. I get labs drawn often here and every time I go there. I see a young girl that is a lab technician that wears slides to work, which concerns me as she is around needles and blood products. I also see her every time on her phone constantly or sleeping with her feet up bundled up in a blanket and lights off. Today she was at the worst with her slides off and feet up on the desk with the lights off. I am appalled at this. I spoke with another staff member and asked if I can complain and was told they are Quest employees and not Memorial Hermann. Sad that my great doctors office has people that work for another company making them look bad. This Quest lab technicians name is Sydnee. This is a professional establishment and they see many patients that have transplants and LVAD's and having a lab tech that places her dirty feet on desks and sleeps on the job is not good for them or these types of patients.
Desired outcome: She does not need to be an employee of your company and especially not work in this office around these ill of patients.
