America Star Books / Publish America - Publishing contract for angoleth's hair and angoleth's sacrifice

I am a little late to report my troubles here but see that many authors have had the same issue as mine. This company, America Star Books, had published two books for me. When they went out of business the books remained available for sale and I have never seen a single penny beyond my initial contract with them. So now I am issuing a formal complaint and...

Hi Valerie: I'm sorry you experienced the same problems I did with PublishAmerica. I published 3 books with PA from [protected] - and was never paid any royalties. I wondered if you would be willing to share a copy of your contract with me (redacted if necessary). My copy was lost in a flood. The reason I need a copy of the contract is because I want to be sure there are no other provisions, after termination, that PA may be entitled to. Even though it has been said that PA is out of business, I think it is more likely that they have started up another entity. I want to be sure they're really dead before I proceed with re-publishing. America Star Books / Publish America Publish America Not Being Honest

In 2008, Publish America published my book "The Algonquian Conquest of the Mediterranean Region of 11,500 Years Ago," and they did not live up to their promises. They did send one dollar. That's all I made. I'm not stupid! With a title my book has, many people would be attracted. Books about Atlantis tend to do very well. Atlantis is a very popular subject! Write "Atlantis" in the search box and many books about Atlantis show up. And "Atlantis" was one of my many keywords, yet I did not generate any sells. It's not only Publish America, it's also all the online bookstores. I investigated and found several online bookstores offering my book for sell. Authors must be very cautious!

Desired outcome: To republish! Authorities will not do anything!

I did make some money in 2009. Between February 1, 2009 and July 31, 2009, I made $13.93. I sold 9 books during those 6 months.

After July 31, 2009, PA did not pay money owed to me. Not that I know of. And I continued to advertise my book using Amazon@com.

Probable government censoring that caused PA to not continue to send payments owed to me. I stopped using Amazon@com for a long time then found out PA was in conflict.

With each advertising campaign nothing followed. Yahoo, Google and other pay per click opportunities, ended up in court for deceiving innocent people. It's risky yet there's not many other ways to promote a book.

America Star Books / Publish America Contact and Services

This company is a Total Rip Off. A class action suit should be started. Publish American is a fraudulent service. They take advantage of their writers. They keep all of the profits for your hard earned work. It is utterly nonsensical to continue literary operations. The saga is endless regarding this place of drama. A major transformation must be made for CHANGE.

Let me apolgize for them! I'm to blame. They published my book in 2008 and they never sent promised royalty reports, ect. They are criminals and have been treated as such. However, pertaining to their afterlifes, they are not allowed afterlifes. If they crave afterlifes, there is only one way they can achieve that which they crave! They have committed countless premeditated crimes. Since their crimes are premeditated, they are in very serious trouble. And they do believe in the afterlife. All book publishing companies, violate most of their authors. So it's not only Publish America that has to deal with no afterlifes. Continue on with publishing your books Tenisha! Investigate book publishing companies first however. Samuel Poe.

I ask that they send it to me but they said they couldnt. I should have much more money than that but i didnt know what to do so i left it alone.

America Star Books / Publish America don't keep their promises

My book Potpourri of Poems Susan O'Neal (me) was published in May 2012. It was promised that there would be press releases announcing my book and that it would be made available to book stores which led me to believe that book stores would be told about the availability of my book. Each month I was sent emails promoting advertising that I needed to pay for to advertise my book. I purchased these when I could afford it but many times the price was way out of my range as I am disabled and on a fixed income. On the promotions I was able to pay for, I was told that my book would be front and center at the convention or whatever the event was. Yet I never got any sales off of these advertising gimmicks. I don't think America Star Books did as they promised and then they wanted me to buy back my copyright and of course I didn't have the money to do that either. I think they prey on people and give them false hope.

America Star Books / Publish America not paying royalties

This company published my book "Vietnam As I Remember" in February 2017 and were supposed to pay royalties in Aug 2017 and have not paid a penny.
The book is still being sold on Amazon world wide and price ranges from $17.95 to $461.00. Some say out of stock where before they said only 10 in stock or only 1 left, I have purchased two from Amazon myself. The companies web site will not load, they do not answer emails or phone calls as of Aug 2017. All indications that they have went out of business leaving hundreds of authors hanging out to dry.

America Star Books / Publish America misleading authors to publish their books

In 2007 I published a book with Publish America God's Gift A Child A lesson in Love, By Eleanor J. Monroe. The company failed to make the necessary corrections before publication, even though I sent them in before a timely manner. My book was a complete failure, Then that wanted to charge me to make the corrections. I believe this is how they scam authors to make money. This book came from my heart, and my struggles and triumphs of having a child with special needs. I was so hurt and discussed and suffered from a state of depression for a year before I could come to terms with what this organization had done to me. I felt that there was nothing to be done, until I researched and found out that they have done this to numerations authors hoping to make their dreams come true. I deserve retribution and the right to republish my book, to revise the mistake that Publish America made. I have no doubt that this was done on purpose.
Thank you

America Star Books / Publish America Defrauds its authors

Publish America has paid me $17.57 since July, 2008. . They lead their authors into a false sense of security. Thus so, authors willing sign a contract that contains an arbitration clause. Authors can not take Publish America to court. Authors tried to start a class action lawsuit. Publish America took over the web site.
My book has sold in Europe, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, eBay, and on the university level. Publish America says that this is nonsense. My book is on DealOz.com for one. To find it there, enter ISBN: [protected] into the search engine. Mary Burns is my pen name. My maiden name was "Buresh".
In one month, Publish America sent me 127 emails whose sole intent was harassment. I have a file 3 1/2 inches thick in which I have documented evidence against Publish America, Amazon.com (their distributor), Walmart, and eBay.
Jim C. Walton is on the board of Walmart. He is also a member of the Commission of Publishers in Frederick, Maryland. He has used my Walmart credit card to buy items from site to store in Frederick, MD. In 2011, I discovered this. I asked the store manager for a run of the year 2011. I received 42 pages. However, 8 were blank. I photocopied the evidence I found. I can prove my allegations.
I have been a member of eBay for about a decade. Ebay has sold my book through four sellers surreptitiously.
On September 21, 2012, "USA TODAY" reported that Walmart and Amazon were having trouble with their Kindle Fire. I have a copy of the newspaper article. There is another link among these industry giants.
Walmart has been the subject of many protests. Employees are protesting them for better wages and conditions. Pet owners have protested Walmart, because pets have died from Walmart treats. About two months ago, Brian Ross, a journalist who writes "The Blotter" daily for ABC News, reported the ninth garment factory fire in 6 months in Bangladesh.
Comp, Disney, and Gap were involved. However, Mr. Ross reported that Walmart was primarily at fault. Garment factory workers are paid 21 cents an hour in Bangladesh. This is the lowest salary paid anywhere. Approximately, 500 people died, because a supervisor padlocked the the only exit. Many people jumped out windows to avoid being burned to death. The families of the dead were paid $1200.00 per body according to Mr. Ross.
It is one thing not to pay me for my book. However, when people and pets die that is entirely different.
Therefore, I hired a lawyer. I wanted all him to sue Publish America, Amazon, Walmart, and eBay. He agreed to sue only Publish America. I told his secretary to have him call me three weeks ago; I had the money for the lawsuit. She said she would tell him. I have heard nothing since. America Star Books / Publish America Over priced books

Publish America is ripping us authors off! They want us to buy our books and then sell them ourselves but even with our discounts they are too expensive. Especially when we have to pay $3.99 shipping for each book ordered. I have three books with them. I bought the first two and was able to sell them But with the shipping adding on, I didn't make any profit what so ever. I was lucky to get enough to pay off my credt card. My third book is still sitting there. It was published in 2010 and not one book has been sold, not even to me. I refuse to buy any and they have not even tried to get it sold. For the length of the book, it is wayyyyyy too expensive. If I refuse to pay their price, I don't expect anyone else to either. What a rip off!

I personally went throught this nightmare with Kaplan. But Being the pig headed person who refuses to back down, I turned them in to the bbb.I posted remarks about them all over their web sites. I called the corp office And I screamed rudely at their so called unbudsman that was handling my case. I got my check over night.
