Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Meter reading personnel

After receiving a bill for over $600.00 out of nowhere, I was told that my prior bills were estimated back to Sept 2022. today is Dec 1, 2023. Despite the meter reading persons coming out to my address and going into my basement pretending that they were reading the meter.

Note that the gas meter is read remotely and they would only have to come into my basement to read the electric meter. So knowing that they have come into my home and into my basement to read the meter but have not done so due to estimated bills is very alarming. The super of the property comes each and every time with the reader but neither he nor I go into the basement with them. The super was nice enough to advise the PSEG manager on the phone that he witnessed the reader coming to my home to read the meter yet my bills don't reflect that. I need answers. called pseg, after 1 hour wait time, I was hung up on 3 times before getting someone to actually help.

Desired outcome: I would like a partial refund and an explanation as to what the reader was actually doing if not reading my meter during visits. If the reader has access to my basement why were my bills estimated for over a year.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] - Water Heater broken...no hot water Winter in NJ

I have had "Worry Free" coverage for this water heater ever since it was installed over 10 years ago. It stopped working as of yesterday 11/25/23 and when the technician came today, he deemed it unrepairable and stated PSE&G does not cover replacement. For more than 10 years, I have been paying for protection on this water heater. The water heater worked...

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Power line damaged by a falling tree - first reported 11/22/23.

At 2:33am 11/22 a dead tree fell on the power line, detaching it from its pole and disrupting several adjacent wires. Power was interrupted but then resumed. The falling tree is now suspended by a Verizon cable wire but is dangling over the ACTIVE POWER LINE. This situation was reported to PSEG by my neighbor and I, a representative came and surveyed the damage and stated that repair was not likely to happen on Thanksgiving. Since no one has appeared to make a repair, I called PSEG again on 11/24 at 12:41pm only to learn that PSEG doesn’t have a plan for repair, has not yet assigned anyone to the task and can’t say when they will. The tree cannot be removed until the ACTIVE POWER LINE is repaired/replaced. If the Verizon cable wire fails to continue holding up the tree, power to at least three homes will be interrupted due PSEG’s failure to take reasonable action despite documented notice to PSEG.

Claimed loss: I’m trying to avoid a loss to my home and others.

Desired outcome: A timely repair of an ACTIVE POWER LINE, dangling approximately 6 feet off the ground before someone or something is harmed or injured.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] - Worry free

I have been paying for a worry contract on my current water heater that was purchased new in July 2010, so a little more than 13 years. On Monday 9/4 late at night I heard a loud high pitched sound coming from the water heater, Tuesday morning I had no hot water. I tried calling PSE&G and had to deal with an annoying AI rep taking in circles so I made the...

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Installation of new gas meter.

On 7/18, pseg ran new gaslines and replaced my gas inside meter with an outside gas meter within feet of my front door. Not only does this new meter look like [censored], my front lawn has been destroyed and will cost thousands to repair. They left large tree roots, rocks and uneven ground so no lawn mower can possible go over it. They also damaged a large, 100 year old oak tree on my property.

Desired outcome: Fix the damage. Repair and resod the lawn. Repair the tree.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Billing issues and agreements

Last year I was approved for the deferred payment plan. I signed an agreement with Pseg where I would be paying $10 a month on the previous outstanding bill and in addition I was put on a budget plan 504 a month. Out of no where the company reassessed my bill changing the total to 754 a month. I was never told this would happen 6 months later. I’ve been struggling the past 3 months with unexpected medical bills and financial stressors. I received a call from an operator on 7/2/23 basically pressuring me to complete a payment before the funds was in the account. She said it would be at least 4 days with the holiday before it posted. The payment bounced with my bank. I went to make the payment today and the website will not let me make it because this was the second time this occurred. I need legitimate help with my bill and payment options.

Desired outcome: Realistic affordable bill agreement with the company.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] equal payment plan

This is obviously a scam. They offer a monthly set amount as if that is going to be the absolute bill for the year. This induces you to use the service more and get higher usage. They are supposed to warn you in 6 months if your usage is higher but they didn't even do that. They suddenly just bill you the actual usage at the end of the year. If you used less, then they give you credit, not cash back.

This is so obviously a scam and even the representative on the phone could not explain what the actual benefit of this plan is; because there is no benefit. It is there to get you off guard and cause you to use more energy.

Shame on you PSEG

Desired outcome: I demand they stop offering this plan like it can benefit people and waive the end of the year bill.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] I took advantage of a free nest thermostat program problem with installer

After receiving the Nest Thermostat, I called PSEG for installation, Iwas given the phone number for ONTech-Smart Services at phone number is [protected]. Before I could make appointment, I had to listen to a sales pitch of other Nest products. I was sold a protection plan and a camera system. She made appointment and the technician showed up 4 hours later with and equipment to install camera and no camera. In additions he spoke very badly about PSEG and referred to the product they were sending to its customers as garbage. We had to make another appointment. He said someone would call in two days to make appointment. No one called until about 5 days and I email to cancel entire order, the order said I had 60 days to cancel. Called back twice. they said they could not give me any written acknowledgement of cancellation. After speaking to someone again she said I would a receive a charge back no later than January 10, 2023. that did not happen, called again no luck. I want my money back. I believe this is a shady company and I do not want to do business with them. My name is Anita Harvey at 732.322.4618. My address for services is 1080Rahway Road, Plainfield, NJ 07060. [protected]@yahoo.com

Desired outcome: I want a full refund of $358.31

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Worry free warranty not being enabled even after payment made

Our furnace was showing issues and we needed to have it repaired, we contacted PSE&G and checked the status of our 'worry free' contract. My wife called them and was told it was on hold due to a late payment or $93.40. So she payed it on the phone, and I also used their website to also make an additional payment, as she was concerned that the operator was having an issue with the credit card, and wasn't sure it had gone through.

So we 'payed' the $93 twice.

Now our online website version of the account shows a credit of nearly $100 and a few days later I used the website to request a tech to come out to fix our non-working furnace.

The tech did come out (a day later than we scheduled originally) and inspected the furnace and said we need parts. But then he just left, because our contract was not showing as active on his device.

I called PSE&G and after a very unsatisfactory attempt to reach the billing department (all I could get was automated voice trees that showed we have a credit) I got an low level support agent from some other department. And discovered the reason our contract was still not in effect, was the original agent who worked with my wife had only charged her card $93.00 and we were 'short' $0.40 cents. My own on line payment was 'ignored' and just treated as a credit.

So we are in a freezing cold house, with risk of breaking pipes because PSE&G's automated systems couldn't 'see' our credit and apply to our account, while still making it nearly impossible to reach a live person to fix this type of error.

Desired outcome: Worry free contract be honored as active, and our furnace be repaired, asap!

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Utility meter installation

For 6 months I have been waiting for a simple utility meter to be installed, the inspection of the town and the installation is done by a registered electrician, the procedures before PSEG are already done, all the permits paid. We are simply waiting for the inspector to come to give the order to install the meter. We have called him more than three times, he never answers, we leave him messages on the answering machine and he doesn't return the call either. In the PSEG construction department, they tell us THEY HAVE NO NEWS ABOUT THIS INSTALLATION, when I gave them the file number they found it there, because they did not have the will to look for it, they say they are going to come and we keep waiting and the utility meter is not placed. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SIX MONTHS, THE PSEG WORKS DEPARTMENT IS A DISASTER, AND THE PEOPLE WHO WORK ARE RUDE, who do not solve anything. I hope someone does something, thanks

Desired outcome: I want the utility meter to be installed as soon as possible

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Electrical interference with a amateur radio station

I have complained about inference coming from a pole across the street from my house several times this year. I have only had one truck show up and the lineman stepped out of his truck looked up at the pole and said everything looks good and than said I'll have to turn this over to Engineering. This was over a month ago, Nothing has happened since. I began complaining about this problem back in this past Summer to no avail. Now that it is getting colder the electrical interference is getting to the point that I'm having a very difficult time receiving stations on my radio gear. I have walked over to the pole and held a small handheld receiver near the ground wire on this pole and the noise is very pronounced at this location. If something isn't done about this issue very soon I will send a letter to the Public Utility Commission for assistance with this issue. The pole number is 62769ML. The approximate address is 308Heather Dr. Mount Laurel, NJ

Desired outcome: I hate to say it but the Solar Panel on this pole could be the issue and I would like to have it removed. These panels have been a consent source of electrical noise since they were installed by PSE&G in South Jersey.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] light pole was moved 4 feet and my service was ripped out and on the ground

The PSEG service tech came to my residence after I had to replace 3 coffee makers. Finally, I was home for the 3rd one and heard a loud bang. I went downstairs and checked the kitchen and smelled "electric wires burning" The tech found that the wires from the pole and at the house did not have a ground and documented the same. That is why my coffee makers burned out. I sent receipts for re imbursement and never heard from them in the 45 days.

But even worse they moved my service 4 feet to the east and ripped my meter pan off my house. When I called them they threatened to turn off my electric. I was able to get an electrician to put it back up on the house. That took a few hours and cost $750.00 which was never reimbursed after I was told it would be.

PSEG is horrible. I have been on hold for 30 minutes on the phone when someone picked up then hung up so they didn't have to talk to anyone. I am now on hold again for 30 minutes !

Desired outcome: re imburse me for the $750.00 electrician fees and my 3 coffee makers

PSEG is a poorly run monopoly. The service tech who came to my house said they sub contracted the work out to guys from down south and they didn't have a clue on certain things like putting my ground wires on at the pole and my house. They also moved the pole without making the wires longer to my house. They haven't done a thing for re imbursement and calling the emergency number results in a 30 minute wait.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] PSEG Gas Connection - Supervisor Clinton Stokes

Gas line leaked, PSEG came and fixed it but never reconnected the gas line although they were notified that this is a commercial building with an active DR. office, School and NJ Transit office. They refused to connect the gas line and notified the owner that the connection will only be restored after the fine is paid. The supervisor Clinton Stokes was extremely rude and uncooperative. Although he was told that the gas line was only 16" below grade and the valve was hidden under blacktop which by code should be accessible and by the curb. He refused to hear anything and did not want to assist in any way. In fact, he specifically said that the connection will only be restored after the fine is paid and probably will not be reconnected until 2023

Desired outcome: Reconnect Gas line and file a complaint against the PSEG supervisor - Clinton Stokes.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] Road Construction

There was construction done in front of my home on two separate occasions where each time the PSEG workers dug bug holes in the road right in front of my house.

So after the first time they dug holes, the workers filled the hole back up, roughly with no thought into appearance. And to my surprise, another crew (asphalt crew) came a few days later and removed what the previous crew did, and installed asphalt and made it look very nice and smooth, almost like it there was nothing done previously.

Now as for the second time the crew came out and dug the hole, they filled the hole roughly, and no consideration for appearance or being smooth. We were under the impression that a second crew (asphalt crew) would come like they did previously and make it look nice and smooth. But it has been over two weeks and no one has come to correct the road properly. The hole is poorly covered, and uneven. When it snows and the plows come, the road will get destroyed and come right up. And the curb will also be destroyed even more.

Also, the curb in front of my house has been destroyed. I have included photos that show that the curb has been broken and moved, so it is not straight any longer.

Need the second asphalt crew to come out and correct the holes that are uneven and look horrible. And need someone to come out to fix the curb.

Desired outcome: To come and correctly fix the holes that were dug up. I have attached photos for your reference, You can see hole 1 & 2 are nice, but hole 3 & 4 are poor. And lastly, I also included photos of the broken curb that needs to be fixed.

Public Service Electric & Gas [PSEG] worry free service - washing machine

I have had worry free insurance on most of my appliances for decades. My washing machine broke on May 16th. Jay from worry free appliance came to my home a few days later and asked for the model and serial number of the unit. He and my niece could not find the numbers on the unit. He refused to do any work on the unit and was rude to my niece.

On May 20th I called the worry free service and explained that they had worked on this same unit in January of 2019 and could they please come and work on it again. Another appointment was made for Monday. Jay returned and never came into the house. He asked for the model and serial number which I told the scheduler we did not have and was again rude to my niece.

I again called the worried free service and complained about Jay's manors and the fact that he wouldn't even look at the washing machine. The woman I spoke with had her boss call Jay's boss and told me that the conclusion was that they will not work on any equipment that doesn't have a model and serial number. I asked to speak to both managers and was told that the consumer care manager would not talk to me and that I would get a call from the scheduling manager in 24 hours. It is now 36 hours and I have not been contacted. I since hired an independent contractor who looked at my unit and told me it was rusted and needed to be replaced. He also advised on what replacement unit I should purchase. I placed an additional call to the worry protection team yesterday and still have not received a response. I am requesting at minimum an apology for Jay's rudeness to my niece and a refund of the money I have paid to worry free service for my washing machine since January 2019. I can't believe the total service of PSEG has fallen so low. Poor communication from management, collecting money for a service they have no intention of providing, inability of the call center to directly communicate with the service center, and rudeness by technician are unacceptable.

Desired outcome: An apology and return of my fees since January 2019
