I worked for Miken Construction from 2008 – 2012. I have nothing bad to say about the company. It was through them, I gained knowledge, experience and friendships that money could not buy. I took with me and applied the company phrase they stand on, and that is, “Every job we do, we do it RIGHT the first time. “
Through the dedication and team work of the staff at Miken Construction, I saw projects accomplished that were nothing less than evidence of hard work. They listened to the needs of the customer and delivered outstanding results exceeding expectations. This was an elite company that insured satisfaction guaranteed no matter what it took.
A company like this is hard to find these days.
I was a vendor for Miken Construction for over 5 years, working closely with each of their project managers. I always found them to have a high level of professionalism and effective communication, making each transaction a smooth one. From upper management on down, they're a solid and efficient organization.
PE contractor
I was a contractor in the field for Miken and they are one of the better companies that make sure you are paid on time and fairly. Their project managers were very knowledgeable and made sure that they were in constant communication with you. I enjoyed working with the whole Miken Team and appreciate all they do for us in the field.
Takes concerns very seriously
Miken Construction has #1 customer service and goes above and beyond daily to make sure the customer is very satisfied with our repairs. Upper management is a great support system when it comes to clearing up any issues immediately. I enjoy working at this company and the benefits they provide. It is hard to get good benefits and have great work environment with a lot of companies nowadays. I have been working for Miken for 51/2 years and have grown so much in my knowledge of construction. All companies have their ups and downs, but in my book, this company is GREAT!

Great Environment
I've worked at Miken Construction for 5 years and have had many opportunities for advancement. Miken doesn't have employees but instead they have team members. Their goal isn’t just good customer service but also good vendor relationships. Management has always said it takes everyone to be successful no matter the part they play. If you ever have the opportunity to work here, take it.

I worked for Miken Construction as a contractor providing services such as lawn maintenance, trash outs and securing vacant properties for their property preservation department. I found the staff members to be very helpful, they always provided the training tools that I needed to succeed. At times I was sent out of my service area but was always compensated as promised and payment was very timely.

employed there. They are dedicated, hardworking,

Doing the right thing was always at the forefront of the projects they
would take on. They never cut corners
and continually work together, as a team, to get the highest quality of results

NO PAYMENT for work done for them
Did clean-out work for them and didn't get paid the full amount. Did initial yard clean-ups and was "guaranteed" the re-cuts; NEVER received ANY! Every time you call, you talk to someone different and they never are on the same page about anything. I WOULD SUGGEST TO NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU LIKE LOOSING MONEY!

Why do companies like this even exist ? They're middle men who do nothing but sit in a office all day and make up numbers out of thin air. The calculations are usually wrong. Many workers do not last very long there because they work you to the bone. It was funny looking into managements eyes. The lifelessness was astounding. Sane people should stay away all together.
STAY AWAY, their business ethics are horrible. Management often say things like "that makes us look bad" WELL HELLO, your ENTIRE practice makes you look bad. I could no longer stay there because I have a conscience, unlike the rest of the pea brains still working there.

Non payment
A few months ago our company was contracted to do repairs on properties in CT, MD and GA. The work was performed in time, but no payment came. I called their REO supervisor/Manager Vonda at Miken Construction and she stated that we needed to do addtional work that the bank has approved. We only requested payment on the original contract $8, 910 and up to today they refuse to pay. This company is nothing more than a scam. They want you to work for nothing and they alone can make money. Elizabeth Miller, Nichole Robertson, Elijay Matthew they must be ashmed scaming people like that and Vonda their manager is mor than happy to go alone. Any person looking for work be advised your services are for free. Do your homework, get in contact with someone in the field before you commit. You will be legally robered. I am launching a complaint with the better business department as well as getting in contact with a law firm to see further steps to take here in California to this scamer from scamming so many people.

Theft of Services II
Miken Construction does send out pay checks once a week but they try to find every excuse not to pay, to short-pay, or to send you out on a job a second time to complete further work at your expense. They have a constant turn-over of employees (which also has to tell you something) and you speak with someone different almost every time you talk with them over the phone. I would not recommend working for this company.

Home destroyed and theft!!
I am a home owner that had my home compeletly destroyed and vandalized by Jason and Ron from Miken Construction out of Lansing, MI. My husband caught them ruffling through our belongings in the garage, their is a foot print on the door where they kicked it in, they left the back door open and flooded our addition (with a brand new floor mind you), they broke out windows and tracked glass through the entire house, and then blew the water lines up into the house blowing rusty water all over and breaking faucets. To top it off they blew the lines off my hot water heater and drained 50gallons of water into my house. They tried to state the hotwater heater was frozen..funny its an ELECTRIC hot water heater with power on! Jason was busted at our property on 5 different occasions..but only had 2 work orders! Very shady and LIARS! We got over 4 different excuses and explinations f or all the damage, but Miken took their workers story and are trying to pin in on us and the bank.

Hey woodchips02, we have been doing this for some time for Miken and many other such companies. Learn how to control the expenses and employees labor costs and make some money. WE ARE. The amount they pay is some times on the low side, but this business is not for anyone who uses high dollar locks and other materials. Remember the properties are bank owned. Just do quality work on time with proper photos and life is good. Do not blame you're failures on other contractors, or Miken.
Anyone who works for Miken has no idea on how to run a business, 25.00 dollars to change a door knob? 20 dollars to board up a window? and they expect you to supply the materials? Impossible to do, if your working for Miken your paying to do the work.
Non-Payment
I was hired to do a follow up inspection on 1 of their properties under their management. This inspection was to ensure a previous contractor had performed all the work that they had requested. Learn from my experience with Miken Construction Inc. I completed all the work they requested and listed on their REPAIR LIST. I was told by them that the Real Estate Agent that was to sell this property took pictures of unsatisfactory work and work not up to par. an now they won't pay me what they owe me! Then the story changed 3 weeks later that the pictures were taken by a third party that was known by them for 30 years. They can't even get the story straight! Thank God I took pictures of this job from beginning to end I have I have 179 pictures of this job & the 14 staged pictures they showed me were taken @ 6:30pm of trash and left over construction debris where not in any of our pictures the worse part of this is that my pictures where taken at 3:30 the same day!
This is a great scam against small contractors in this economic times were in now.

In 2012, I did quite a number of inspections REO repairs, and insurance repairs for Miken Construction, throughout Alabama and parts of Mississippi and Georgia. I followed their picture and reporting requirements to the letter. I completed all my repairs as required by their Scope of Work document and took LOTS of photos. On average, I took between 235-250 pictures per house. I was very thorough. I uploaded all my pictures, inspection reports, and invoices to the FTP per their instructions. If my work was accepted by end of business on Thursday, I received a check the following Friday, via FedEx. There were very few exceptions and on those exceptions I was able to call their AP Supervisor on the phone and work-out any problems. Miken pays according to terms when their requirements are followed. I'm a reputable contractor who treated them fairly and the favor was returned. I did approximately $110, 000 in repair business with them last year. My only complaint is that their high employee turnover has made it difficult for me to maintain a working relationship with the project managers because they come and go so frequently, so my numbers are down with them this year. BE a professional with them and you will not be harmed financially.

do your job and do it properly and you will be paid for it. in these "hard times" people always use that excuse to half ### work. if you dont like working for this company stay away from their job offerings and find out how hard it really is out there. honestly if you have a problem doing this kinda work especially for a great company like miken go get a different job holding up business signs for dominos.

The inspection is not something they usually get paid to do it is a bid, they pretty much use your pictures and measurement to compose a bid to give to the asset manager at the bank. I do 10-12 inspections a week (mostly for free) and receive 1 or 2 jobs approvals per week. They usually pay on time. I would keep on them about the pay though. Email them the invoice at least weekly, and call about the same or 2 times a week also best time usually to get someone to answer is around 3:45pm west coast time. (ohh and if you think they are avoiding you just use the *67) (worse case you could file a lein on the property.. almost sure thing to get paid then)
They lied, said they needed home inspection done, needed quarter million pictures taken, formatted properly, then sent. They told me I did everything correctly and I should be getting my fuel/time compensation of fifty bucks for doing a twelve hour job soon . Stephen still tries to let me know it's on the way, funny now cause it's been six months or more now. Anyway, I feel sorry for people actually working for these folks. Stay away, cause you will be doing a three hundred dollar home inspection for not fifty bucks.
They contacted me cause I have a legit ad at Craigslist. They told me that they had a job that needed inspection, convinced me to go look at job and take a quarter million pictures formatted, properly of course, then sent back and at very least they would send me fifty bucks, cause as they said, "you can't drive out there for free right?" Pretty sure I did do it free though, cause it has been six months at least, Stephen still tells me they are sending me my stupid fifty bucks. It is okay to do the inspection for nothing if that's what you agree too, but if you are gonna tell someone that you are gonna pay the fifty bucks to do a twelve hour home inspection, go ahead and pay it. Stay away from these guys, can't imagine what they do to their contractors.-Roger

THEY DO NOT PAY! They lie to you and give you a different story each time you speak to someone...when they answer the phone. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL! AN EMBARASSMENT TO OUR INDUSTRY! NO ONE TAKES OWNERSHIP! Do not work for them. Contact the California State Attorney General and file a complaint.
