MetLife Intermittent FMLA

MetLife closed my intermittent FMLA claim after 5 months (not even 6), when proper x-rays and paperwork were submitted for my yearly intermittent FMLA claim. Years prior, our company handled it flawlessly, but ever since MetLife took over handling our FMLA claims, everyone at work is experiencing their consistent incompetence. MetLife claims they were missing additional paperwork (they were not). Apparently MetLife doesn't believe in conditions that are lifelong, and refuse to properly and ethically handle these claims. Their customer service reps are less than efficient. My physician sent them a reinstatement directive due to their errors, and they still have not resolved this issue. Absolutely horrible organization.

Desired outcome: A reinstatement of my intermittent FMLA claim (per physician's directive), and an explanation as to how they will prevent this error from occurring in the future, and I'd love to hear how they plan to implement better customer service.

MetLife MetLife LTD

I was denied LTD due to a history of migraines. I have contacted an attorney to see what my rights are. The MetLife letter has a date of November 20, 2023. Insurance companies end up with an excess of money every year. An insurance company should not be able to pick and choose who they will cover, especially for migraines. That's why MetLife has a 2 out of 5 rating.

MetLife Incompetent Service

Service Agent reference number [protected]. Called in at 8:18am Central. After immediately picking up the phone, she was nothing but stale and rude. After going through the needed verification process, she provided me information that was somehow confusing. I am calling to check on the status of an outgoing transfer and she kept repeating "This is the only thing I know" after telling me that the transfer was deferred on the 28th but was under processing on the 29th, so I asked, if there's anybody else that can further assist me or explain to me what that means. She has put me on hold for at least 8 times for 2-3 minutes throughout the whole 50 minute ordeal. I know she's refreshing her hold to look like she's talking to me but no, I was only able to talk to her 3 times for 50 minutes. She goes by the name Rona.

Desired outcome: I would like the company to meet their own standards for their service agents. This interaction has showed me how incompetent the workers of this company have in foreign countries.

MetLife Brighthouse Customert Service

I tried to speak with someone at Brighthouse to update my fathers mailing address. What a bunch of clowns! The representatives made it so difficult that they made my sister have a breakdown. I plan to repay that by filing complaints with the California Insurance Commissioner and the SEC. Your reps made fun of our situation. Now comes payback for your senior executives. I am meeting with our lawyers this afternoon and expect to file a lawsuit just to force you CEO to come to California for several days of depositions. We will be as nasty to him as his peope were to us.

I Robert Benavidez had filed an accident claim. I had 2 rotator cuff and 1 bicep tear repaired with surgery. Denied twice. Filed with BBB and Texas Insurance Board now. Read attached letter from surgeon stating that this type of injury isn't spontaneous. For any questions to contact his office. I had follow up with the surgeon and he advised that no one has contacted him. So, MetLife is denying my claims without looking at the MDs letter. I just want what my policy to pay out what we signed up for. If you don't pay an accident when you have accident protection, then why do you sell this policy? Someone needs to really take another close look at my claim. I'm about to post all over social media and next i trying to get the email addresses of all MetLife's Board of Directors and send a massive email to all. You hide their emails, but I will find them soon. Pay me what is owed to me, and this goes away. I just want fairness and you are not giving it.

Desired outcome: For MetLife to pay what is owed to me by what the policy claims. 2 rotator cuff tears and 1 bicep tear. 4 months on Physical Therapy.

MetLife I’d like my claim approved, I’d like better customer service

I applied for long term disability and signed all authorizations for MetLife to obtain my medical records a year ago. My claim was denied because MetLife never requested the medical records and didn’t tell me I needed to provide them. They advised me to appeal the decision and when I did, they denied it again. They stated I did not meet their definition of disability even though 2 different doctors of mine agreed I do. Their 3rd party doctor, Marvin Pietovsky is a complete fraud who has multiple lawsuits against him, denies disability claims on bad faith because Met Life doesn’t want to pay out. MetLife claims they could not reach my doctor for comment when my doctor made numerous attempts to speak with Met Life, even going as far as giving his personal cell number to them for a call back. I have done everything that I could while also fighting my illness. This MetLife situation has caused me a ridiculous amount of undue stress and they need to be investigated. The adjuster was Karen Rotundo who was totally unhelpful and her manager Lisa Kelly who told me have my doctor to write a letter so both doctors did stating I am disabled but my claim was still denied because I didn’t keep a headache diary, go to the ER and because my doctors chart notes were lacking. I would recommend people do not buy MetLife policies. Just look on the internet, mostly bad faith denials.

Desired outcome: some honesty , transparency and for MetLife to listen to treating doctors . Pay what they owe.

MetLife Accident insurance denial of claim.

Certificate #A9309000 Claim#874294. My accident was denied twice by your company. I have letters from the surgeon and Dr. of physical therapy saying different. I have filed a Federal External review with Maximus Federal services. Reference number FP23-000966. It's a HHS Federal External Review board of denied cases. I'm filing with BBB also and leaving a BBB review about your companies lack of paying claims. I tore 2 rotator cuffs and a bicep tendon and had them repaired. I feel back into my bed (by accident) and caught myself with the arm and shoulder that got damaged. I was like lightening going through my shoulder. You denied all accidental claims. I'm also going to file with the States Department of insurances in the next few days. BBB is suggesting but not recommending possible legal action on my part. I just want MetLife to cover my 3 tears as stated in the policy. Someone with authority needs to review my incident again. This is getting out of hand now. Robert Benavidez

MetLife Inappropriate policy lapse

On March 20, 2023, I received a letter regarding the acceptance of a reduced paid up death benefit that I want to take advantage of. I have called multiple times to invoke this benefit and after all of the calls, my policy has been placed in lapse mode because the premium payments have stopped and I haven’t received an amended endorsement which is what is stated in the letter. The customer service i have received is atrocious and I’m going to report this to the Federal Board of Insurance. I feel like all you are trying to do is figure out a way to cancel my policy. I’ve already had another policy cancelled due to a technicality which was ridiculous.

Desired outcome: I want an amended endorsement of the reduced benefit and any reference to a lapse in coverage removed from my record.

MetLife Corrupt billing department

We have been paying on a policy for over 35 years for Paul M. Rzeznik. It has been an automatic withdrawal without fail. We received a notice stating we werent making payments which is a LIE. Then we find out that behind our back and without notice, your corrupt company raised the rate to over double WITHOUT NOTIFYING US. What American company does this to their loyal customers? I WANT A CALL BACK FROM A SUPERVISOR THIS WEEK.

I am a retiree from Reynolds American Inc. Gropu Number: 39191. My name is Juan B. Morales and I live in Spain. Recently I tried to register in MyBenefits website with NO SUCCESS. Your website does not allow anybody living outside of the USA to register. I tried repeatedly to get from from your 1-800 number and basically got the message that I cannot register because I do not live in the USA. This is absurd and discriminatory. I urgently need to gain access to MyBenefits account.

MetLife Make sure all w-2's and forms requested by an individual be met without having to go through stress and upsetting ordeals.

Failure to send me a W-2 Form.

I've been trying to get a W-2 form since the end of Feb 2023, this is now April 3, 2023 still no W-2 form, the Nebraska office, account manager said she is not sending me one since no taxes were withheld. I had to call the Corporate Office in New York, they sent a message to her supervisor, my account manager called said she will be sending a request to finance department, that was over 10 days ago.

As of today, still no w-2 form. So this is information she gave me is faulty information. And a lie. I was told by several other customer service personnel, that they do need to send one, now I'm almost late with getting my taxes done.

Why is it so difficult for someone to do their job and do it correctly?

MetLife Hospital indemnity claim

My wife was in hospital for childbirth. I was told by my employer to file a claim for my hospital indemnity. Customer service told me it’ll take up to 10 days for approval. After 30 days I was told both claims for the mother and baby were denied. Reason for denial was, my policy had lapsed on 10.30.2022, yet it was active in the system. I made an appeal with all my paystubs for October, clearly showing that I was payments for my policy. After 3 days I contacted the insurance, customer service told me the denial was still being upheld for no specific reason.

Desired outcome: I want my claims to be paid out

MetLife Reinstatement of policy [protected] per customer service back room supervisor

My wife age 76 and I age 75, are writing you for a third time at the suggestion of a "back room" supervisor on 2/17/23 about the above captioned life insurance policy.

This is an "appeal" letter to reinstate the policy. We are told customer service has received the first two letters and again cashed our TDB # 3540 in the amount of $644.50 to pay the net premium and loan interest due in November 2022. A review of prior payments and correspondence demonstrates Judi's good faith in trying to pay the policy premium and loan interest:

.On11/15/22she sent you the net premium of $134.60.

. On/13/23 when she realized she still owed loan interest she sent you $473.06.

. On or about1/26/23, you refunded her payments of $644.65 before you sent her a letter on 1/27/23 notifying her you were declining her request for reinstatement and canceling her policy.

.Your customer service rep then told her to fax another letter requesting reinstatement.

. We did that and resent the$644.65 due. Again you cashed the check but refused to even consider her request for reinstatement.

. Today by this email we "appeal" to you to reinstate the policy per Alfred instructions of 2/6/23 and the 'back room" supervisor's instructions of 2/17/23.

Again Judi's demonstrates her good faith by paying what was due every year since1982.

She is in good health. Has no medical history which would preclude reinstatement.

MetLife Disability premium reimbursement

Ive sent every drs note that I have going back to 1998 and before. I have been recieving ssdi since 1998. Thats a federal program. With a judges letter. Thats federal also. Now you lose my paperwork then find itallin one conversation. Please dend me an american, to work with. Is this something I need to get my state government and congressman involved in?

Desired outcome: pay back the premium that i have been paying, that i did not know about going back to 1998.

MetLife Retirement sep

I took out SEP's for myself and my employees retirement back in the 80s. At the time the agent said, what's great about these plans in you can allocate your funds to mutual funds or fixed interest. The best thing is you can move your funds every day if you want. 10 years later they said you can only move a few times a month. Typical insurance company.

Fast forward to 2020, I am retired, fixed interest started going down with the Prime Rate. In 2022 I asked when they were going to raise fixed interest, since the Prime Rate is going up. I called a few times with no answer to my question. Finally I called back and was told the interest rate won't go up on old money, that you put in before you retired but you can still go into mutual funds.

These people are nothing more than a cheating insurance company, you can tell when they lie, listen for them to say anything. I would advise anyone not to trust MET LIFE.

Desired outcome: Raise interest rates on old money as well as new money. Stop cheating.

MetLife Claim reimbursement

My claim # [protected],my name is Olga Dobrynina,date of service:06/06/2022. The MetLife dental had failed to respond to my appeal, I have no communication whatsoever,I had called them and we had a 3 way conversation,and my dental office had sent all they asked for in this call, and the info was sent to the MetLife, but no response. I am the patient in my dental office for 20+years, I have no doubt that they sent the info,in fact when I came in for the cleaning appointment,the Dawn ( hygienist) was filling out the paperwork on my behalf and said so. The MetLife had covered my deep cleaning procedure,but denied the $120 antibiotic,which is absolutely needed to be administered.Indonthis procedure regularly,and it was never not covered with other insurance carriers,because it’s a preventative measure.

Desired outcome: $120 reimbursement

MetLife Will not allow me to cancel

I am told I need to be a member for one year; prior to that, I cannot cancel this insurance. But, on the phone a representative told me my cancelation would be effective immediately. One week later, I received a letter declining my cancelation. I have been emailing and calling--getting different information. Now, I told the representative (Albert--if that is his real name) that I want to cancel on the one-year mark. He told me I still need to send them a letter to cancel. Meanwhile, they are still taking money out of my bank account for dental insurance I am no longer using or interested in keeping.

MetLife Phone service

I have had the worst phone service experience of my life with Met Life insurance. Called once and they dropped my call. Called again and about an hour later a representative called back and said she would email me a form (she repeated back my email address correctly), but it didn't arrive (not in spam folder either). Called back and after several minutes spoke with a rep who referred me to another rep who answered after ~ 1 hour (no choice for a call-back given). This rep fumbled around for 10-15 minutes during which he checked back a couple of times saying he was working on it then another hour+ another rep picked up, who had no knowledge of the previous occurences and seemingly helped me (I'll know tomorrow if that is so). Altogether second call was ~3 hours10 minutes. So 4 hours + just to pay off a life insurance loan.

MetLife Cancelled life insurance / poor excuse for reps at met life

My policy number is [protected] I have had this policy since my son was 3 he is know 39. I got letter staing I needed to pay 117 so I called rep told me three times I didnt have to pay that just up my monthly fee from 41 to 59. I asked three times. Then is get letter staing theyare gonna cancel me, so I called again and again rep said she was sending it over to supervisor. Then I get letter its cancelled, so again icall the last rep didnt send it over, so this one says sent to reinstatement, they would listen to call. Waited no response, get letter know want 167 I do not have and should not have to pay your reps told me wrong imfo didnt sdo what said they were. Spoke to another supervisor, he said he would have it escalated to reinstate ent, didnt hear, so called yesterday, and again said they would have it escalated. I have paid this for over 30 yrs, if I die tomorrow my family isnt covered. Your rep told me I didnt have to pay the original 117, just pay 59 a month, their mistake not mine. I even said if need to lower face value a lil to make current I would do that. I am on fixed income. I need my life insurance, and your reps need to be trained better, not give false info, not do what they say, I should have my life insurance reinstated without me paying 167. Oo for your mistake. Metlife was suppose to be the best, what happened. I have paid faithfully for over 30 yrs.

MetLife Short Term Disability

I filed a claim to use my STD for maternity leave and have not been paid the entire six weeks even though it was approved weeks ago.

Any time I call, customer service says they'll transfer me, where I'm either disconnected, sent to a number that doesn't exist, or sent back to the main menu. I was supposed to receive 60% of my salary weekly and I haven't seen a dime and no one can tell me why.

Desired outcome: I would like to be paid the money I'm owed for the past 6 weeks right now.
