I may be a little biased here, but match.com did the trick. I met my husband on there 6 years ago. It's a bit ridiculous, but after waiting for someone to fall in my lap I had to finally do a little work. Yes, it's work. Dating online is by turns depressing, hilarious, interesting and emotional. You'll meet some nice people, although they might be nice for someone else. But hey, it's the best way to stay in practice and meet people instead of watching re-runs of The Bachelor in your sweatpants. You may meet your match, you may not, but at least you can say you tried.

Recently I understood that I'm too lone person. I have no friends almost, just couple of such ones and anyway we meet each other not so often as I want to. So, I have decided to apply to specialized service where I could find a soulmate, a person who I can chat day n night and I will be interested in this conversation. I applied here because it seemed to me that it's quite a huge dating platform where all people can find theri soulmates. Fortunately, everything was okay I found a soulmate and now we're chating all day long. Soo, I guess we will meet. Thanks to this paltform.

While I am sure that there are a lot of perverts and weirdos out there, I think if you use common sense (such as meeting for the first time in a public place, during the day, and letting someone else know where you are going to be), match.com can be a great place to meet new people. I have only interacted with genuine people on the site and never got "fake winks." For new members, search for a discount code before joining. I think I paid $15 a month for a 3 month subscription. I didn't meet anyone on the site, but I also encouraged my best friend to join and she is dating the person from the first date she went on! They are very cute together.

The premiere dating website - I think this is probably the best dating site out there, purely because it has such a large number of people to sort through. I also like the quality of the people on the site. Most are very real people and not just looking to have fun. These are people who are really looking for a relationship and it is great that you can screen them ahead of time. I will admit that there were a number of people who didn't look quite like their photo, but it wasn't that far off. I have tried dating on CL, and usually it ended up badly. Lots of flakes on CL. But I have always been rather impressed by the match.com people. Definitely worth signing up for their 6 month deal. Guys, my 2 cents is to just put down the higher income bracket, I initially put down a lower amount of money and found the girls would more likely go out with me if I just put down the higher bracket. And, hey, someday I'll make that much...

I had joined match.com on a one month trial basis. Somehow, I felt this site could not be as bad as the many many bad reviews would suggest. So, with a sense of fairness in mind, I said to heck with it and lets see what happens.

There are times when in dealing with businesses that we all truly understand they are all trying to make a buck. Whether that is Walmart.com maybe inflating the stated savings for an item, or some companies getting their employees to write good reviews for them. That's life and that is business. The very nature of such is selling a product service presented or in many cases overly presented to increase chances of a sale.
Nothing new there and we all know and accept it. But not is all lost. Just as companies have tricks of the trade to ensure maximum profits, so do consumers have the ability to look for savings and huge discounts. So the overall playing field is not as one sided as we would expect.

Then along come the likes of Match.com and their ilk. Where does one start with total dissatisfaction with this company. Everything and I mean everything is a scam. The only saving grace for match.com is the clever nature of how they have some nifty programmers and process architects at the company. I work in this field myself so am qualified to offer a validated comment or two in this regard. Though not working for a company like match.com or any one like it. So, basically, for all those out there who wonder how does thing work or who comes up with the concepts etc. Let me fill you in.

On the outside, from the customer facing viewpoint, we see or believe we see countless individuals similarly looking to meet others on this site. The plethora of pretty profile pics and bios would suggest this site really attracts the best out there. Look for yourself, there are for the most part some of the prettiest and best presented people on match.com. Now, as every new user imagines they are in with the best group around. Clever use of consumer psychology to let you think you as the new member are in with the in crowd. The use of dubious winks and interests etc. are merely a system automated process to take the place of actual and real users. Almost in the same fashion as an iv unit in a hospital will at intervals provide the correct dosage to the patient, so does the system of winks and interests work the same way.

Now for the profiles, did anybody know that match.com has devised templates to fill in many profile bios. It is all so simple in fact. Again I work in this area and know how it works. Many of the pics are harvested from all sorts of internet sources. Sure there maybe be some honest profiles, like mine and yours, and pics to go along with them. But again, it is quite easy in this industry, from personal experience, with the clever use of data source management to make anything look real. So, think of it like this, there is most probably an employee at match.com sifting through expired or cancelled profiles and searching for good pictures to then send to another dept to come up with profile bios. Then the finished product in the form of the profile is set aside in a database of profiles. When a new user joins, the location, age group, likes dislikes etc. of the user are recorded. All this is done to tailor the response profiles to fit the member preferences. Pretty nifty eh!.

Ever wonder why after receiving winks and favorites that the profile is then hidden or unavailable. This I must admit is really really clever. I counted 47 winks and favorites received only to find that the profile is hidden. To think in any reasonable terms that many members on match.com are prone to absurdly uncommon and unusual behaviour is a little hard to believe. Now comes the moment to pause and think for one second. If match.com was a reputable company, then they would have investigated why virtually every profile becomes hidden within minutes of activity. Now that is and is most possibly the straw that will eventually break the camels back. Pushing the ball back to match.com in this regard is most certainly something they have not looked at for now, or come up with some angle to excuse themselves from any wrongdoing.

Recently, I contacted match.com corporate office and insisted that I communicate with one of their senior mgmt. To outline my concerns. The very next day, there is not one wink, interest, email or favorite from "other" members. Zero Nada. When for some weeks before I would routinely receive a regular stream of the new winks and favorites from individuals in my area. My account is still active and paid for. No changes there. I will let you make up your own mind on that one ok.

Really, I am so interested to see what eventually happens to match.com and their ilk. Much needed regulation and judicial oversight is required to protect the interests of customers totally and utterly duped by such fraudulent business practices as those shown by match.com

Update 12/04/2015:

It has now become clear that any likes/interests given from profiles with just one picture will become hidden or profile unavailable immediately after it has been sent. Again, we can see the obvious use of ex members pictures in a blatantly disrespectful manner. In some cases, and I have used google images to verify, pics from a single former profile will appear in two or more new profiles. Do the powers that be not understand that Google images can verify origin of pics.

The ball maybe soon ending for Match, com. It is truly impossible for it to continue in the guise of a reputable business.

*** Let everybody who is a paying member perform this test. First look at your winks, before you even open them to see who sent it, I can almost assure you that the "senders" profile will have just one pic. This is obviously the last you will hear from this member, as the profile will then gone forever. Far too much of a coincidence in my honest opinion. Match.com likes to get as much usage and value it can out of old and non active profiles. I wonder if the owners of these pics actually know what is going on without their consent.?

Also, check your email inbox in your main email account. If you see messages from e. G ***@talkmatch.com, this is a one of those feed in emails that do nothing more than give a profile from thousands of miles away, and then do the "hidden profile or unavailable" when you access it. You will see another form of email coming from e. G ***@Talkmatch.com, note the capital T this time. These are real and from actual people. The other one mentioned is most possibly used by match.com to give the impression that there are so many active members interested, when it fact it is an absolute hoax.

When you receive winks and likes. First check to see if profile contains just one picture. This is a tell tale sign that the profile will go hidden or become unavailable within minutes.

I contacted Match.com to warn them about a man I met on their site back in June. Sadly, I was the one to reach out by commenting on a photo on his profile. He responded almost immediately and so it began. As a woman in her late 40'summer with plenty of life experiences, including bad relationships and my share of heartache, I wanted to believe that this person on the other end of a computer was not going to bend a jerk or predator.
After emails and learning the basics about each other and discovering he was in Afghanistan working, I still thought he was worth meeting. What could it hurt?
I should have known better that a man who is away every 3 months and across the world only to be home a couple days here and there wasn't looking for a relationship. I should have guessed when our first date was less about having meaningful conversation and more about plenty of distractions yet eager to make out with me at the end of the date... he was too eager and presumptious, but I just thought he really liked me and so I let it go.
I made the mistake of flying out to see him when he asked. I made the mistake of not telling him there would be no sex during that 4 day visit. He assumed we would, but was so sweet to inform me we wouldn't have sex that first evening when I arrived. That's when I told him I had no intention of having sex and that I wanted something meaningful, a relationship and not just a one night stand or hook up. I told him I didn't want to be uses and discarded. He heard me, but he still wanted what he wanted. Stupidly, loneliness, desire, and the need to be wanted got the best of me and I caved. We get caught in the moment and take chances and even dangerous risks to out health. He had every intention of having sex that weekend yet no condoms on hand nor a menation of whether he was HIV/AIDS/STD free. It was I who brought it up and started that conversation before anything ever happened.
As a woman, sex means more to us and we cannot have sex without becoming emotional or developing feelings for that person we give our bodies to... it just isn't chemically possible. This man I trusted, liked, cared for and was so excited about - that I failed to ask the questions I needed and wanted to ask because I was afraid it would scare him away - called me, wrote to me, text me and made plans for another weekend together. He had me somewhere I had never been before with any man and I lost myself. So many possibilities and potential plans as I counted the says until he returned. After another month - only this time hewas up visiting family in New England - he made sure we met up hours before our weekend was to begin so we could carry out something he wanted to do with me. Again, I just gave him what he wanted and then some. Didn't matter that I told him how much it meant to me to give him what he wanted, nor did it matter how much I wanted our weekend, he later called to cancel plans that night. And that's where it all really began to unravel.
I knew he was still on match even after we were intimate and I was uncomfortable and afraid. Yes, I hinted at it, but fear crept in and so I didn't dare question him on what it was he was doing or what we were doing. He told me we were dating on our second date. He talked about future plans to go places and more. I was naive and allowed him to dictate and control everything we were to do and did.
I got a call from this man I grew to care about, this man I thought was a gentleman and a man of faith telling me he had thought it over and realized that due to his work schedule (not being around enough) and that I became attached too quickly, that it was over. I was shocked, confused, hurt, and numb. We didn't just go out to dinner a movie a few times and parted ways. He said and dud things that would make any woman believe and think that not only were you dating each other, but in the early stages of a romantic adulthe relationship.
Please understand that I never expected anything more than to proceed as we were doing, allowing time to take its course and see where things between us would go. I waited a month for him to come home and suddenly, there I was wondering what happened.
He left town again and I couldn't understand what happened. He didn't have the decency or honor to have met me in person to discuss. He had no issue when it came to having sex so soon, but my caring about him, well that was just too much to handle I guess.
So there I was blaming myself for everything and he never said I'm sorry. I asked if all that took place between us meant nothing to him and he said nothing. It came down to a "Yeah" from him when I asked, "So that's it?"
This man continued to be on match right after he was done with me and was on it right before my membership expired. This man who told me he realized he didn't want a relationship due to his schedule had updated his profile to say that he is looking for the "one". Someone to hold hands with when he is 70 and tell himself how lucky he is. Funny coming from someone who just let some who wants a relationship and cares enough about him to try and work things out after he went back to Afghanistan. The man who actually called me and wrote how me might be able to do things we were supposed to do when he came back home. Yes, I was excited and yet a fool to think I could trust him again. That's why I wrote him a couple times asking him to think about what he wanted and to let me know because I couldn't take the chance to wait another month and a half only for him to change his mind and leave me waiting and devastated.

Guess asking for an answer was too much for him. His email response left me NUMB. He could have been nice and decent, but instead he was cruel. He wrote " 'dating" was something we have never done". He wrote I was a stalker and not to reply with an email telling him how awful he is because he had enough already. Perhaps those awful emails are from the other women he has been communicating with who he has hurt. Maybe it's from the woman he loves her legs in yoga pants... he had email me once stating how much he loved my legs in yoga pants, but I never wore any for him. It didn't hit me until after it ended and that made me worry even more about who the man I was with really is.
I called and emailed Match.con and all they wrote back is that "appropriate action " had been taken. Due to privacy policies, that's all they would allow me to know. That's interesting. Sour that tells us that anyone can get a paid Match.Com membership and have access to countless numbers, of men and women who are truly seeking a relationship and potentially be hurt by scammers, predators, and others posing as wanting a relationship when it's sex they really want.
I'm sure gbow321 will be online and continuing to find another person, like myself, who will give him a chance in spite of his schedule (for the next 2 Years and maybe longer) because they believe what he says, presents, and says he will do only to find themselves tossed aside.
I was an idiot, bit you don't have to be. Please take this warning seriously. I am not a stalker, nor am I a woman who is seeking revenge because this man wasn't into me after a couple dinner dates, nor do I want this man in my life ever again. There are many more explicit details about what took place between myself and gbow321 to prove what I'm saying is truthful and not some vendetta. As a woman, I must protect other women from what some men do so easily and without remorse. As I wrote him in a final email to him (for myself and not for him), I will never make the mistakes made with gbow321 again with any man. Get to know these men online, ladies. Ask everything upfront and do NOT be afraid to state what you want and will not do until that man has proven themselves to be worthy and in an exclusive and committed relationship with you! Do not settle and do not allow Match.Com to continue taking your money if they cannot protect you from people like gbow321 on their dating site.
There needs to be a profile rating system where members can post anything negative (based on actual facts/proof) to warn other members. If you pay a fee, then this should be part of the membership benefits, don't you agree?

I decided to take a chance after a years absence from POF and see if by chance things have changed. The first thing I noticed was an entirely new interface which seemed promising but sadly, that's where it ended.

For those of you looking for a dating site that will help you connect with singles then please do yourself a favor and just rely on strolling around the produce section of your local grocery store. Rather than just posting my personal opinions, I have provided you with hard evidence so you can decide for yourself. I have included screenshots and you'll find them at the bottom of this page.
I'll keep this as simple as possible. I will be sharing real examples of how useless and deceptive this site really is.

1. Hey guys, you said it's free but it doesn't work.
Nothing is free about this site. To send letters to women the men must first purchase tokens. The selection process is somewhat deceptive and misleading because there are numerous options and features that can confuse you about what you have access to. The most basic option is to purchase 1 token in order to send letters to members. You can purchase tokens in larger values and they will allow you to spruce up your profile with colored borders and bold text etc. None of this really works. It's just a cheap cash grab by the company which does NOT improve your chances of meeting anybody.

2. Return to sender.
This part I wish to take my time to elaborate on because many of you reading this will have a hard time believing it. Without exaggerating, my personal experience has demonstrated that approx 75% of profiles I reply to REJECT all letters from men. Why? I have no idea but I've included a screenshot below to prove this so have a look for yourself.
Think about it. This is a dating site. As a single male I would like to meet a single woman but they refuse & reject letters from all men. However, their profiles remain active for you to see. Why? What is the point of having an active profile and being online yet simultaneously you are rejecting contact from all men? Please understand that when the woman is online there is no mistake knowing this because there is a small blue dot with the word "ONLINE" next to her name indicating that she is logged on, BUT, she doesn't want to hear from you. Explain the logic to that?
That's like walking into a store and seeing all the merchandise on the shelves but you're not allowed to purchase anything and when you try to ask why, nobody is there to answer you. Explain that POF?

3. Can somebody help me please?
I attempted to contact customer service to request an answer to why profiles of women are active when they are rejecting all mail. If they wish to temporarily reject letters then the policy should be that their profiles are hidden so to avoid frustration. POF does NOT offer any contact information for such questions as per the attachment at the bottom of the page. If you notice at the bottom of the screenshot there is a link to a form that you can fill out with your concerns regarding questionable practices. I did attempt to go this route but there is NO option available to ask specific questions. They give you a limited list of options but none are suitable for the problem mentioned. In simple terms, POF is basically telling you to get lost and your concerns mean nothing to them.

4. Somebody is interested in me?
Wow, I was notified that there are women interested in me and how do I find out who they are? There is a link at the top of the page, "Interested in Me". If you click on this link here is what you will see (look at attachments). It's a blurred out image of a member. Now, if you click on that members photo/name it takes you to another page where you are informed that in order to see who this person is then you must PAY an additional fee (as per attachment). Here is the gut punch. If you can see in the image, there are two descriptions below the photo under the members name. 1. viewed you. 2. Viewed & liked you.
The "viewed & liked you" member is from outside the Province/State or Country. Yeah, women who are from outside Canada are very interested in me but locals are not. Hmm. Interesting how that works, huh?

5. Hello, how are you today?
Most women refuse to reply back to letters sent to them. I make it a point to send a very simple and neutral message. For example. "Hello, how are you tonight? I found your profile and wanted to see if you may like to chat?".
Most ignore the men's letters and rather than being civilized and decent, they ban the man from contacting them. Yeah, you get banned from sending her a letter. This only supports the suggestion that many profiles are fake for the purpose of attracting members who will spend money to use this site.

6. I can't send any more letters today?
When I purchased my token (allowing me to send letters), nowhere, I stress NOWHERE was I informed that I have a limited number of letters that I can send per day. Once I send out the limit that POF established I now must wait 24 hours before I can send another letter. But hold on a moment, I PAID to use this site which means I should be able to send all the letters I wish. Does that make sense to you? Not according to POF.

7. Did I see you somewhere else?
I decided to spend some time looking at profile from other provinces and into the US. To my surprise I found duplicate profiles from two different locations. In fact, two provinces. The photos were the same but a few minor details were changed such as age, employment and marital status. Brace yourself people, there are phony profiles on this site.

8. You live where?
I found a profile of a woman living in a town that I never heard of. I had to google it to see where it is. Turns out, according to the profile she lives in a remote community in Northern Ontario. Just for kicks I sent "her" a letter and she replied right away. Hmm. Could this be a real connection for me? "She" replied by telling me that she was happy to hear from me and wanted to get to know me. Within 5 messages she tells me that she is currently living in Nigeria and could use a few dollars to help her with groceries until her next pay check. How did I reply to that? I banned her.

9. What do you mean I can't change my personal information?
Do you want to change your username, well, PAY UP. Yeah, even information on your personal profile page cannot be changed unless you pay a monthly fee.

10. Hey lady, you're a dog.
You would think that profile would have photos of the person who is looking to meet you, right? Think again. On POF you will find profile photos of dogs, cats, horses, shoes and somebodies lunch. This is how the women attract a man on this site. How do you take somebody like that seriously?

11. I can't send you a letter because of what?
I have always suspected that POF has fake profiles and I believe this last example will support that suspicion. You will at times send a letter to a woman and discover that she will not accept letters UNLESS, you upgrade your account. What does that mean exactly. You must first agree to spend a monthly fee for additional features that you don't need at all. Oh, hold on here. What possible reason does that woman have to insist that YOU first pay an additional fee for your membership in order that you can contact her? What does she get out of this? NOTHING. Is she trying to tell you that to have the honor of contacting her you must first prove that you're frivolous with your money and that you'll do anything it takes to send her a letter even if it means she'll ignore you? Possibly, but I'm now convinced there is a darker reason. No sane person would think this way so that leaves us with only one possible explanation. POF has countless fake profiles which motivate you to spend money for a feature you do not need in order to contact a phantom member who does not exist. If this is not criminal behavior then you tell me what is? This is another example where POF goes out of its way to ignore you about these issues. I've attached a screenshot below to prove this point.

12. Photos are ripped from other sites. It's interesting when you stop and examine the woman's profile. The average number of photos per profile is 2 but many have only 1. Here is the dirty part. When you look at the photos they clearly are professional shots. Most of the profiles with 1 photo have a very deceptive profile. The woman clearly looks like she's in her mid 20's, BUT, posts her age as 50. I am now fully convinced that POF allows fake profiles to saturate their site to attract men and that is the scam.

Final thought. Perhaps it's time for POF to change its name to POS.

Everything about POF is a scam. This site exists only to extort money from your pocket and nothing more.
Please, save your money because this site does not deliver anything except frustration.

On 3/19/24, Match terminated my membership. Synopsis: A man on Match.com contacted me and gave me his full name in his message to me. Before I have a phone conversation with someone and definitely before I go out with them, I look them up on the PA Criminal Background Website - link: https://ujsportal.pacourts.us/CaseSearch - a FREE SERVICE offered through the PA Court system. I found he had an extensive record. I e-mailed him that the reason I wasn't interested was because he had a long criminal history and I cut and pasted ONE CHARGE of the many that were listed on him. He e-mailed back that what I did was ILLEGAL and he reported me to MATCH saying what I did was ILLEGAL. This is NOT illegal. It is a PUBLIC DATABASE. Match, without looking into it further, TERMIMATED MY MEMBERSHIP. The CRIMINAL's membership should have been terminated instead. After they terminated my membership, I reached out to Match and sent them the website and how to navigate it so they would see for themselves it is a LEGAL PA COURT SITE and they could SEE they have a person on Match with an extensive record-& even sent a screen shot. Nothing I did was ILLEGAL. Ironic that because I don't want to go out with a CRIMINAL, MY MEMBERSHIP is terminated and HIS no doubt continues... How fair is this? They also pointed out "one person complained about me in April 2023" - a year ago. lol. No detailed info of course. Guess anyone you don't go out or are not interested in with can report you and say anything even if untruthful (as it appears many of you HAVE experienced) and Match without investigating at all, terminates your membership. I am respectable person - a Piano Teacher with clearances for Child Abuse, PA Criminal background, and FBI Fingerprinting every 5 years which I renewed less than a year ago. But yet without Match investigating that it WAS a legal SITE, and HE DOES IN FACT have numerous charges in the past, TERMINATED "MY MEMBERSHIP" but probably let his continue. They need to INVESTIGATE before taking the word of someone - as the criminal website is open to the PUBLIC! I let the Better Business Bureau know and if no satisfaction, I will contact legal counsel. This is ABSURD!

I have been gone from Match for over a year and then I got a charge on my account for $130. I don't want to have my cc take it off because I have a lot of auto payments on this card and would have to do all of them over again to get the charge taken off and then get a new card.

They don't have a phone number to talk to a real person, they make you go to your old account and re-activate the account and then click a button to end your subscription and take the charge off, but no confirmation goes anywhere so you just have to wait to see if they took care of it. Nothing yet taken off my account. Why don't they have a customer service number? Because they are shady!

I have been a paying member of Match.com off and on for years. I have never had problems until now. Just a few days after signing up again, my account was banned for somehow “violating the terms and conditions.” I work for the federal government and get background checked regularly by the FBI, why would I EVER do anything inappropriate on a dating app? It’s absolute insanity. This company offered absolutely no explanation, and informed me that if I attempted to make another account, I would again be terminated. I can’t believe this company exists. I am disgusted by the lack of professionalism and unwillingness to actually investigate my appeal, look at whether I actually was inappropriate or not by asking whoever reported me for actual evidence, etc. I am beside myself with how violating this whole experience has become.

Phillip geoffrey smith & have been a ,e,ber some time, you do know me as i have resently complained about my site having so many cancelled lady profile blanked out on my normal views, since i complained you seem to have frozen me out of my profile, i can't sign in, you keeep directing me to the sign up again method. I tried this this morning, just to see what happen again & it refuses to accept my email address it says that this is not valid.

Please explain this asap.

There is no human being you can talk to at this site. I paid for my subscription, no technical problem there. I downloaded pictures, filled out all the inquiries, messaged a couple girls and now cant access my site by either email, phone number, or by sign in. This disgraceful automated customer service send me messages to correct the problem going thru the gear icon, but i cant get to the gear icon. You have to sign in to get to it.

I've been a customer with Match now for quite some time and sadly it's not working for me. Always around renewal time I get an increase in the amount of visitors and once I've let my subscription expire have an unusual amount of women "liking" me. I always relent and resubscribe and find that almost all the ones liking me have been suspended by the moderators.

I'm suggesting that these people didn't actually exist and that Match. Com are acting fraudulently. I don't want to be a member of this organisation anymore and demand my money back and the cancellation of my subscription.

I will report this to whoever it takes to get what I want.

Last month, Match, for some reason, blocked my account and would not give me any information as to why. They seem to have shared that information with other carriers, and now OK Cupoid and Zoosk will not allow me to join. I had been a paying member, off and on, for 10 years. How can they block me without provocation and then spread the info to other carriers? I want them to reinstate my account and stop maligning my good name and email.

I am unable to sign into my account, which I paid for! I only had match for about a week. For 3 days now, I am unable to sign it. I get a prompt stating that there is a problem with my account. I have reported to resolution department numerous time, and I just get a generic response about them sending my inquiry to another department. At this point, all the potential relationships I may have started are probably gone as I have no way to access my account. This is unacceptable. I paid for this, I could've gone on a free dating site and had better customer service. At this point, my money has been stolen by Match. This all began on 10/31/23.

I signed up for Match and paid my initial 1st month and was supposed to have the option to cancel my subscription within the initial 30 days. Within 5 days of my subscription be up for renewal I was locked out of my account per Match. I emailed to no avail and never heard a word. I cannot access my account and they just charged me for an additional month at almost $50.00

I want either my access reinstated or my money returned. This is a scam
