Gold's Gym Title: Warning: Terrible Experience with Gold's Gym Arcadia, CA

Warning: Terrible Experience with Gold's Gym Arcadia, CA

I recently had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Gold's Gym, specifically at the Arcadia, CA location. I feel compelled to share my story to warn others about the unprofessionalism and lack of integrity I encountered.

I initially signed up with a $1 initiation fee, expecting to take advantage of a promotional offer. However, I made it clear that I needed my account to be placed on freeze as I was traveling out of the country. Despite providing documentation of my travel plans, I discovered three months later that Gold's Gym had been charging my account every month, along with the initial fee, without my knowledge or consent.

When I finally realized what was happening and requested a refund, the process became a nightmare. I was met with constant excuses and delays whenever I tried to contact the management. Despite speaking to the General Manager and explaining my situation, I was met with indifference and ultimately denied a refund.

It's evident that Gold's Gym Arcadia cares more about squeezing money out of its customers than their fitness and wellness. The lack of accountability and disregard for customer satisfaction is appalling. It's even more disheartening to learn that the staff member who initially assisted me is no longer employed, allegedly due to similar complaints.

I urge anyone considering joining Gold's Gym in Arcadia, CA, to think twice. This establishment has shown a complete disregard for its customers' well-being and is only interested in profiting at their expense. I plan to share my experience on every social media platform to ensure that others are aware of what they might encounter.

In conclusion, my experience with Gold's Gym Arcadia, CA, was nothing short of a nightmare. Save yourself the trouble and find a gym that values its customers and their satisfaction.

Gold's Gym No one is responding back to me!

I haven't contacted the Gold's gym at Crossroad multiple times and no response. I no longer live in San Antonio TX due to unforeseen life events, we had to move to Ohio.

I've been trying to cancel through email but no response, called the property, they told me I had to come in. I told them I live in Ohio now. I can't come in.

Then he provided me his boss's email. I have email her twice and no response. I also have given them the time to respond back to me due to the holidays but still nothing. This is ridicules. I have been in customer service for 10 years and I would never treat my guest/ customers this way.

I have screenshots of my emails and not one response back.

Desired outcome: waive cancellation fee.

Gold's Gym Harassment

I was at the gym on bandera pointe with my boyfriend. GM Lauren Flores came up to us and started yelling at him that he cannot freelance. She was yelling so loud people were staring. I explained I’m his girlfriend I don’t pay him. She then said he brings other girls to the gym. In front of everyone. I was extremely embarrassed. There was numerous other couples working out. I’m wondering why we were attacked.

Gold's Gym Manager Keanu Jones at Northridge, CA

I went in in person and sat down at the desk with Keanu Jones (manager) at Northridge, California, Golds gym in September 2023 and I told him that I wanted to switch my boyfriends account under my name/ and credit card, so he asked for my credit card, I handed it to him and he swiped my card on a machine and had me sign a few documents and said that everything is good to go and that payments will start coming out of my card. The last 5 to 6 months payments Have not been coming out of my card and still on my boyfriends card and I checked on my end and nothing was coming out either (and I haven’t been going to the gym) so I called and asked what’s going on with my account and they said I haven’t been paying and they said that I have been getting in for free to the gym because nothing is being charged to my card. This was a huge mistake on their end and I called complaining about what had happened and I requested a full refund on the last five months, and (Keanu) he wouldn’t give it to me at all, and he’s basically telling me that I should pay my boyfriend from MY OWN money, the months that both of us haven’t been using the gym at all the last 5 to 6 months and the payment still haven’t been going out on his card. He was very rude over the phone saying that I should take money from out of my pocket and pay my own boyfriend the last months and not them when it was clearly 100% their fault. Communication and the service was completely 100%, messed up and wrong, and they knew it from the start, and they didn’t mention anything to us, and money has been taken out from my boyfriend’s card ever since without his notice. I want a full refund of the months we never used the gym and also because it was 100% their fault.

Gold's Gym Canceling membership after local location closed

I had a location-specific membership to my local Gold's Gym, and this location closed in December. I was charged again after the closure date, their increased rate in spite of closing, and now I can no longer walk-in or mail them my cancelation request. How do I cancel my membership, while continuing to bill me for a service in a location that is no longer open?

Gold's Gym Manager badgering member about talking to other members

While pulling into the parking lot, another member was blocking the way for other cars to enter. After I was able to park, I then walked up and told the other member to stop blocking the way and to leave if they plan on leaving. The member then complained and I was badgered by the manager and was told I am not allowed to talk to other members. I told the manager I am an adult and I am allowed to speak to whom ever I want. She then took it upon herself to hold my membership, that I was trying to upgrade, hostage and would not let me upgrade. I then told them to cancel my account and left and that I would not be treated in this manner.

I would appreciate something be done regarding this manager going on a power trip and using her status within the gym as leverage to bully members.

Claimed loss: Membership

Desired outcome: Refer to previous column

Gold's Gym Never received refund

I am still waiting on my refund and it has been 11 months. Please update me when you will be mailing a check for a full refund. I would like to get this taken care of ASAP

I talked to an ABC Fitness employee and told them that I cancelled my membership 4/18/22 and that because of his phone call I then realized Golds Gym kept billing me AFTER my cancellation.

I saw 4/16/22 my monthly due was charged to my credit card. I had not been able to use my gym membership as I had hoped due to my spinal disability so even though I only came into the gym a few times, I still paid the monthly fee over a year. I went online to cancel but policy said I had to go in person to cancel my membership. Your records should show I even requested my membership# 4/18/22 to try to cancel online. I went in person to the Mechanicsville, VA location on 4/18/22 and spoke to the person at the front desk to cancel my membership. He said they just needed it in writing, so he grabbed a flyer and wrote my name and membership# number to cancel the policy, he signed it and I signed it. He said the cancellation was processed.

But then after getting the call to update my billing I checked my credit card and noticed Golds Gym still billed me:

5/2/22 $49.99 Annual Fee

5/16/22 $33.99 Monthly Fee

6/16/22 $33.99 Monthly Fee

7/16/22 $33.99 Monthly Fee

So Golds Gym actually owes me a refund of $151.96 + Interest I endured of $485 = $637. And remove this collection immediately. I have contacted Golds Gym support as well. A Refund Check can be mailed to me and I will provide membership number, proof od documents, name, address, etc once you contact me so it is not stated publicly.

I have attached the cancellation written notice from 4/18/22, and billing history that shows the $151.96 Gold's Gym wrongfully billed me for. That credit card also has a 26.6% APR so I have endured ($40.42/month = $485 in interest to date!)

Please contact me immediately to let me know this balance due has been removed and that my refund is being sent to me asap.

Agreement#[protected]

Claimed loss: $151.96 + $485 APR = $637

Desired outcome: Full Refund

Gold's Gym Late Fees

My credit card got hack not once but twice with 2 weeks. Gold's Gym reimburse me for the first late Fee of $20.00 but the 2nd time they would not. I ask the manager Darren at the Waxahachie Gold's Gym. On September 18th it was hack the 1st time and then hack again on October 16th. My billing date is the 26th. So on the 2nd hack I was told my management that I could not be reimburse for that $20.00 dollar. Why can't I get reimburse for the 2nd hack when it was not my fault. And the time ran for due date before I could get my new card.

Claimed loss: $20.00

Desired outcome: My $20.00 back from late fees

Gold's Gym 24 days and still no refund

Amazing that the GM of the McAllen, Tx facility is okay with taking advantage of an 18 year old kid and take their hard earned money.

On October 2 my son purchased a membership. On October 3 he had to cancel the membership. It was due to a policy of the gym, which we completely understand. My son was wanting to use the racquetball court to practice on his color guard. We had the general manager (Oscar) come tell us it wasn't allowed even though numerous people on his staff told us on 2OCT and even when we showed up that it was okay. Again, we understand the policy and why it wasn't allowed...no issues with that.

The issue is now that Oscar assured us that he'd put the refund request in. After a week we didn't receive the refund, I reached out to him, and he said he processed it and said he'd send me a copy of the processed refund. He never sent it. I've gone by and called, left messages...he has yet to respond. I feel that this is absolutely inexcusable, unacceptable, and unprofessional of him. Especially as a “General Manager”.

I am currently active-duty Army and was assigned here in the RGV area to teach at the university. When we arrived it was an important task for us to try and find a location that could facilitate his ability to practice and even workout. Again, understand the policy...but the lack of common courtesy of Oscar and him basically saying "screw you" to my 18-year-old son who spent his hard-earned money for the membership is ridiculous.

Gym looks okay. Staff was all very friendly. GM, needs a lot of work… unless this is how he is for non customers. I’d hope he doesn’t treat actual clients like this.

Desired outcome: My son receive his refund

Gold's Gym They won't cancel my membership and want to continue charging me.

I have been unable to go to the gym for over 6 months, and decided to cancel my membership. They tell me I am required to give 30 days notice before they cancel the membership. However, today is 10/4/23 and my last bill was 9/25/23. They say that I have to pay again on 10/25/23 and my membership will end on 11/25/23. Their contract says they will terminate their services effective 30 days after I submit my request which is today 10/4/23. That means they are making me pay a full month more for service that is beyond the 30 days. They won't pro-rate it so that I only pay for 10/25-11/4. They were extremely rude to me via emails and refuse to cancel my membership or let it expire on 10/25 as it should. They have record of me not stepping foot into a Gold's gym in over 6 months and so they have more than enough free money from me. Additionally they raised the rates on me from $32.xx to $37.xx without my permission.

Desired outcome: I want my membership to end on October 25th and to not be billed again from them. Ever.

Gold's Gym Gym Staff asking members not to carry gym bags inside the gym floor while workingout

This happened Yesterday inside the gym, i got approached by two staff members ( trainers) asking me to stop carrying my gym bag inside the gym floor while doing the workout , and keep it inside floor lockers.

When asking why , they answered that they started noticing some gym equipments disappearing ( some members stealing gym accessories and equipments as per their feedback) and they managed to catch the member who did that.

We use gym bags to carry important staff needed for better workout ( personal workout equipments : special grips , ropes … etc , protein shakes , water , special supplements, also my personal mobile , sometimes money which I can’t leave inside the lockers because the gym have a disclaimer on the lockers stating that they don’t take any responsibility if anyone loses their staff even if it’s being kept in lockers).

Desired outcome: We are asking the gym to stop bothering professional members while doing their workout asking not to carry gym bags which is very important thing to me as to many other members as well.and to focus on the other important things in the gym.

Gold's Gym The Manager of Gold's Gym Studio in Maadi

I paid a membership for my son in Maadi Branch and in 3 days I requested a refund. This happened as my son couldn't manage his time with his private lessons and gym. we decided to postpone the membership for few months.

I filled the refund request on 12 Sep 23 and nobody has called back. I kept following up with the gym staff and at the end after almost 3 weeks they told me you signed an old version of the refund request (which is not my fault at all and I should have been contacted to sign the new form, but nobody cares to call).

Yesterday 28 Sep, I went again and signed the new form, but staff told me the manager of the branch Mr Omar should call u before u get ur refund. and till now he hasn't cared to call and I haven't got my refund. I thought am dealing with Gold's Gym and that I will get the refund the soonest.

The worst experience ever.

Desired outcome: I would like an apology and the refund as soon as possible. It's been around 3 weeks!!!

Gold's Gym A employee

Hi I would like to make a complaint because I wanted to try your 7 day free trial pass and I went in person and the employee was just pushing me to buy a membership without trying out the gym to see if I even like it. I sent messages to the employee because I wanted to make sure it was for 7 days the trial and he said yes so I went back in person and the employee said I couldn’t work out that I used the day pass already but I even showed him where it says 7 days and the messages where he said it would be 7 days but he said the only way I can work out is if I buy a membership. I don’t think that was okay because you guys have promoted 7 days so I don’t understand why he only allowed me one day.

This was the golds gym in Hollywood

1016 Cole Ave

Hollywood, CA 90038

United States

The employee was Duane

Me and my friend just had a horrible experience we really just wanted to check out the gym for the 7 day free trial but I guess because we weren’t sure if we were gonna buy a membership he didn’t let us continue our 7 days

Desired outcome: I would like him to get notified that what he did was wrong and we should have been able to workout 7 days like it’s promoted

Gold's Gym Refused to process buyer's remorse few hours after the service is requested

I went to Gold's gym in Glendale CA. I thought I was only going to register because i've already enrolled thru my insurance.

I was enticed to get a personal trainer and was charged $1,128. After 3hours, I called and expressed my desire to cancel saying I want to think about it, I was told to wait on the line, call was transferred 2x so I decided to go to the area since I am still inside the mall. To my surprise the staff were just gathered around a table while my call was on hold, when I asked them they said they were talking about my request (I was informed over the phone earlier that they need to speak to the regional manager)

When I was at the store, they printed a copy that I signed stating, service can't be cancelled, I expressed frustration as this was not disclosed to me (I was too trusting to sign earlier as I thought it was just to confirm the enrolment)

The personnel told me they will request cancellation and I have to wait for 5-7 business days to know if they will approve the "request"

This is very misleading and can be considered as a fraud to hook you into something where "buyers remorse" seemed not honored/considered.

It is not fait to fall into a trap w/o proper disclosure, I please need help.

Incident happened today, October 11, 2023 before 3pm PST.

Desired outcome: money back, no service was rendered yet

Gold's Gym Harassment / bullying

Members knowingly causing physical contact with another when the person knows or should reasonably believe that the other will regard the contact as offensive or provocative. Not to mention, making ugly comments about individual, in essence - pushing their own personal beliefs onto others, rather than standing up for the individual. There are no consequences for these members, and it shouldn’t fall on the trainer's shoulders either. No one will stick up for the individual who clearly is at a disadvantage because of his/ her disabilities.

Desired outcome: For gym to take accountability, make all Gold’s Gyms file with BBB, undergo investigation.
