eHarmony Mixed Experiences with eHarmony: Proceed with Caution

As someone who has explored the world of online dating, I understand the importance of finding a platform that truly connects you with like-minded individuals. Looking at the reviews for eHarmony, it's evident that the experiences are quite polarized. While some users have found success in meeting compatible matches and building meaningful connections, others have faced challenges with scammers, billing issues, and a lack of quality matches. It seems that eHarmony's approach may work well for some, but it's essential to proceed with caution and manage expectations. If you decide to give it a try, make sure to stay vigilant and communicate any concerns promptly with their customer service team. Remember, finding love online can be a journey filled with ups and downs, so stay positive and open-minded throughout your experience with eHarmony.

eHarmony Excellent

I've read so many bad stories about dating scams that it took me forever to convince myself to join a dating site. But what can I say, I guess I am more lucky than most other guys. Joined eHarmony and Chemistry but also Mingle2day and Tinder. Personally, Mingle2day and eharmony worked best for me. Met a few women off both sites. Totally recommendable.

eHarmony Excellent!

I Had a really good experience on this site. I did meet my wife on this site and i couldn't recommend this site enough to people. Im a guy and i did get a lot of responses back from women over the course of my subscription. You have to be committed to it though. It took me about 6 months and going out on several dates with women to find the right person. Just be patient with it and the site will throw some good matches your way.

eHarmony I TOTALLY LOVE EHARMONY

I had no success on any other site like match.com or plenty of fish but in eharmony I got the real results I was looking for. They truly give you compatible people and don't play jokes, I like the long test they had that rats out all the people that only want a one night stand or those with serious anger issues (theres lots of them) and absolutely love that those people cannot get into the site, I had success after 4 months on it

eHarmony Surprisingly positive experience

I am totally surprised by the bad reviews about your site. They are completely inaccurate. I think your site is amazing. I signed up half-heartedly at a friend's request, and to my complete surprise, 'met' someone who is incredibly compatible the very next day. Even if it doesn't work out in the end with him, at least I know that there are guys out there that have the qualities I want. Also your personality book is wonderful and was completely accurate. Thank you. I've already learned a lot about myself and my own relationship weaknesses from joining your site.

eHarmony Excellent

I used eHarmony for four months and during this time I went on multiple dates. Same were great, some were a big waste of time, but that's not the fault of eHarmony. If you are looking for a decent and honest dating site, I think eHarmony is right for you. There can be a lack of matches in your area, depends where you from. I have made the experience that eHarmony works perfect in combination with Mingle2day which is also a good dating site. Both sites will basically cover all regions so if you weren't lucky on one site you may want to try the other site. Just an advise.

eHarmony I tried match.com and yahoo's personals first (both

I tried match.com and yahoo's personals first (both were terrible). First profile I made they said they couldn't find any matches so I created another one. It's true the personality tests take forever, and I suspect they're pretty worthless (if your answers don't line up into neat little boxes, they don't know what to do... real people, of course, never have contradictions, polar opposite feelings on things, etc.) but I went ahead and paid for the monthly service. I started talking to a couple girls (they were all far away, which is another thing that sucks... there was no one in my state). They do have an option for instant communication or whatever, but I actually liked the guided interaction with all the questions, because I think it prevents an issue on other dating sites, which is the attractive women get hundreds of emails so you never hear anything back. Anyway, I've got to give it 5 stars, because I actually met my wife on here. Back to the problem of matches being far away though, she lived in China. Life is crazy sometimes.

eHarmony Eharmony randomly closed my account after I submitted

Eharmony randomly closed my account after I submitted a suggestion to make their service better. I tried contacting them by phone but the rep had nothing useful to say other than telling me to reply to the email i received, oh by the way the email said:

Dear Customer,
Based on recent review of your account information and activity, eHarmony has made the decision to close your account. We do not disclose the specific reason for our decision, however, for your consideration we can provide some general information regarding such closure decisions.

The most common reason we may choose to close an account is for a violation of our Terms and Conditions regarding the misrepresentation of personal information, such as name, age, address, marital status or criminal history. On rare occasions, we also may close an account due to specific complaints about the content of a profile, communication, or for any other reason as stated in our Terms and Conditions.

If you have purchased a subscription and we have confirmed that a Terms and Conditions violation has occurred, your subscription dues may have been forfeited.

For any questions related to this action, you may visit our Frequently Asked Questions section concerning the closure of user accounts. You can find this information at the following link:

Also here is some bits from their terms and conditions that are SCAM indicators.
11. Term and Termination.

This Agreement will become effective upon your acceptance of the Agreement by your use of the Site or the Services and will remain in full force and effect unless and until terminated hereunder. Either you or eHarmony may terminate your account at any time, for any reason or no reason, without explanation, effective upon sending written notice to the other party. EHarmony reserves the right to immediately suspend or terminate your access to any of the Services, without notice, for any reason or no reason. We also reserve the right to remove your account information or data from our Services and any other records at any time at our sole discretion. In the event your access to any of the Services is suspended due to the breach of this Agreement, you agree that all fees then paid to eHarmony by you will be nonrefundable and all outstanding or pending payments will immediately be due. You may terminate your account by following the steps in the applicable section under "Cancellations" below, or by sending a notice of cancellation to: eHarmony, Inc., Attn: Cancellations, P. O. Box 3640, Santa Monica, CA 90408 USA. Following any termination of any Registered User's use of the Singles Service, eHarmony reserves the right to send a notice thereof to other Registered Users which whom you have corresponded.

This is an unfair policy, a great money making scam, and it encourages a fraudulent situation where in the company could cancel accounts after subscriptions are paid for and not have to provide any service. However, if you see there TV commercials, they claim to be the "best".

When I contacted their so called customer service center they provided no useful information as to why the account was canceled and referred me to respond to an email and that there was no phone contact for the section that deals with the cancelling of customer accounts, yes they have an entire section dedicated to searching for and cancelling user accounts. They even sent me some sort of legal affidavit requesting personal legal information about my marital status, under penalty of perjury. Now since giving them the personal legal information would be unreasonable considering the nature of their business and reputation as well as the means in which they requested it via a webmail service is simply inadequately secure for such personal and vital information i did not provide it. As well as the statement within their terms and conditions that states that"eHarmony and its contractors may use various ways of verifying information that users have provided. However, none of those ways are perfect, and you agree that eHarmony and its contractors will have no liability to you arising from any incorrectly verified information." In other words if they are wrong and threaten you with perjury they are not liable. So when I didn't provide them with the legal information they canceled my account. I think eHarmony and other sites like it are Big Business and Big Giant SCAM.

Yeah seriously #wasteofmoney, don't ever signup for this service they can close your account when ever they want for what ever reason or no reason and they can screw you over and not be liable. I put a fraud complaint in with my credit card company and they are getting my money back.

eHarmony I like the feature of the personality compatibility score

I like the feature of the personality compatibility score. It eliminates weeks of determining if compatibility is strong. A huge time saver.I dont like that the pool of true *** men is small. Men claim ***, but nothing in their profile reflects it other than the checked box. I casted a wide net and usually I have air if interest on other sites.Maybe my age group is not compatible. Seeking men ***.

Eharmony has a horrible business practice mentality. I fervantly recommend do not use their services. I was curious about their site and was unable to peruse unless I signed up. I signed up and paid the initial fee and looked through, only to find it was mediocre. Without even contacting one member, I cancelled the subscription less than 24 hours later and was surprised to be told, not only that I couldn't receive a refund but I still owed the remainder of the subscription. I attempted to work with customer service on at least stopping the other payment requests, but they kept siting the fine print that only certain state residents were able to get out of paying the full amount. Sounds like their state (not ***) took care of this disgusting practice for their residents. I'm now paying a monthly fee for a product I did not utilize nor will I ever-in total $400 down the drain-that's a sham. This is the worst dating site I've encountered and anyone who is on there is either stuck because they can't get out of it without losing money or they're cool with being swindled. I'm not one to complain when I know I signed up for it, but this company is truly sneaky and their claim "you can cancel anytime" but reality in the fine print of "but you still have to pay", makes them complete crooks-period! If I could give it no stars I would.

The worst dating site and customer service that I have ever experienced. After the first week I never got a match again and the match tab kept repeating Oops, try again. Customer service via email only (phone number does not work) sent the same canned reply every day for one week telling me to broaden my search criteria. I have been totally unable to get a refund.

Beware of eHarmony! Read this to understand how they do business. I know first hand because they did it to me.eHarmony, a site that I've never used and know nothing about, dinged my bank account for $510. I have no recollection of ever signing up with this website and as I've said, I don't ever remember even visiting that website.According to them, I signed up on some kind of 'Premium Membership' in which they set up to automatically renew after some time. After further investigation to this company, I discovered that their scheme is to get a person on a cheap intro rate and then stick it to them by giving themselves permission to your money (your bank account) in the future. You don't choose to auto-renew. THEY choose it for you. I can't imagine ever agreeing to such a thing, but then, I have no memory of doing it.I never received emails from them so 'out of sight; out of mind'. I never gave them or any other 'dating website' a thought. They never sent me an email letting me know that they were about to debit my bank account. When I saw it, I was immediately positive that somehow I'd been hacked and scammed.I sent them a message and requested that any 'service' that they think they had provided for me to be canceled immediately and my balance refunded. The first complaint I made was ignored. I sent a second one after a few weeks. They refused my request. As I said, I don't know how I could have avoided the eHarmony incident as I have no recollection of signing up with them much less to give them open access to my bank account in the future. They may or may not be a good dating site. I have no clue as I've never used it. But, their business practices while apparently legal are certainly unethical. Beware of eHarmony!

eHarmony I read up on eHarmony prior to committing

I read up on eHarmony prior to committing. I was really excited to use my profile. But, the matches were horrible. Nowhere near matching with my profile and not compatible whatsoever. The "algorithm" based on the personality profiles does not seem honest at all. My matches were not only terrible but they were so far outside of my location. I tried changing my zip code, or adjusting my profile and kept getting the same matches everyday and all at least 20-30 miles away. I reached out to eHarmony to ask for a refund on future months, and to cancel my subscription. I was told I could only cancel the subscription but would be responsible for the month to month cost. The site was not easy to navigate, the app is really limited, and the matches are literally the same poorly matched people everyday with no variation even if you improve your profile. This doesn't make sense. A friend bought this for me as a gift and I really wish I could get her a refund.

Eharmony is the worst dating app on the market. They have very shady business practices and literally no customer service. There are a ton of fake profiles and you will not meet anyone of substance. The few dates I did go on were scary. There are so many better choices as far as dating APPS go. Total unethical scam. DON'T USE THIS APP!

Do not waste money on this online dating site. This company manipulates vulnerable people into signing up for their service and traps you into a contract from which there is no escape. State Attorney Generals should investigate and defend their citizens from the unconscionable business practices of online dating companies such as Eharmony.

eHarmony My review is concerning a shady business practice that e-harmony uses

My review is concerning a shady business practice that e-harmony uses. I am aware that other businesses do this as well, but it doesn't make it ok. When signing up for a certain subscription for a particular length of time, they automatically turn on a "Automatic Renewal feature". Its great if you catch it and undo/turnoff per the verbiage that you may or may not see. They do this automatically under the guise of " This feature allows our members to continue with the service without interruption." The option to make one's account auto-renew should be initiated by the member, not them. It shouldn't be something up to a member to catch and undo a future purchase decision automatically made for them by the company. If a client misses this and sees the mistake after the auto-renewal date,-they do not work with you in recognizing this as mistake and issue a refund. They stick you to paying out the rest of that contract. They may make a payment plan for you, but you are stuck paying out for a contract period in which you may no longer care to use services: paying for services even though you chose to turn your profile off...for whatever reason. This isn't about them caring about you getting uninterrupted service, -its about them taking advantage of a way for them to get some uninterrupted money flow their direction. They have to know that a certain percentage of members will miss the auto-renewal feature upon signing up. Much of the bad reviews you see here are probably due to this. If it were about uninterrupted services for the member, they can send reminder emails and/or alert messages via the app. If the member is active, they can either renew a contract at that time or initiate/turn on the auto renew feature themselves at that time. If they are not active and don't pay attention to these, then they probably are not wanting to renew. That's my two cents about the matter for all its worth.

After E-*** deducted one initial membership payment from my bank account, I cancelled my membership before the next monthly cycle charge occurred because I was dissatisfied with their services. I cancelled the automatic payment feature. Three months later, I received an email stating that I owe them $128.00 and some change. This is outrageous. In my my opinion E-*** gives sub-par services to customers while charging them very high membership fees that are much higher than the industry average for a dating service. I advise potential customers to NOT give them your money by any means!

eHarmony How does a compnay with 1/5 stars get an A- rating????

How does a compnay with 1/5 stars get an A- rating? This company is a scam. Within 45 seconds - yes SECONDS - of signing up for the paid membership I was targed by scammers. How they knew just exactly when to do it is anyone's guess. Good luck trying to get any help from them - all they want is your $$ (and the scammer's have to pay too, by the way). I should have kept this $$ and used it for toilet paper during the next pandemic. At least I would have gotten some actual use out of it. Plus, I had to come here to get an actual phone number. If the service was all it was advertised, they could easily have a money back garauntee - even if only for 2 weeks - but I'm sure they know that would lead to their demise.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Bought their sale for a year last March. It became apparent almost immediately that the majority of profiles were bots or inactive or people who didnt pay so we couldnt talk on the site. Took the loss and moved on. Deleted the app off my phone and never thought about it again. Fast forward a year and I get an autorenew charge at DOUBLE the price with no notification that it was coming. Tried to go through customer service for a refund and was stonewalled. Apparently if theyre not required by federal or state law to send notification before taking peoples money they wont do it. Their customer service felt like bots copy and pasting text from their absurd policies. Stay away at all costs.

Total and complete scam. I would leave zero or negative stars if possible. The way they operate is completely unethical. You are not allowed to cancel your subscription and even if you do choose to delete your profile, you still have to pay for the full subscription. Otherwise, they turn it over to a collection agency. I believe they have to resort to doing this to people because it's the only way they can make money. No one would subscribe otherwise. Oh, and you are not able to delete your profile yourself, you have to contact customer service. I only received about 15 matches and of the few I did receive, several did not have photos. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. I was told to broaden my search to other countries. Seriously?!?! I would say don't use this service but unfortunately if you're here like me leaving a complaint it's already too late.

eHarmony I signed up to check this site out

I signed up to check this site out. Had to add my debit card to continue looking into this service. I then tried to cancel it and it would not allow me to do so on the very same day. They are charging me for a full year service. Was trying the FREE introductory ? I was considering the $19.99 per month for the 3 month service.
I need help with this problem so I am seeing a attorney this week.

eHarmony eHarmony is a great app to meet and chat with singles as well as adding them to your friend list

eHarmony is a great app to meet and chat with singles as well as adding them to your friend list. The only problem I had was when I wanted to delete my account along with the payments, according to their terms and conditions, they can make an exception to the terms and conditions sometimes they don't. In my case they did and I am grateful. They are also a more secure app and website then most dating apps. Just to be clear this is not a poor review, but like every app and website, they have flaws and can be corrected.

eHarmony eHarmony auto renewed my account and billed me without notification in violation of their own terms and conditions and

eHarmony auto renewed my account and billed me without notification in violation of their own terms and conditions and is refusing to waive the bill. I initially signed up for eHarmony on 10/6/19 at a promotional price for 12 months and paid in full with a prepaid VISA card at the time of purchase. Per this activation, I was asked to agree to eHarmony's terms and conditions which stated that I would receive a confirmation email containing my account information and any information about auto renewal, that I would be notified 30 days prior to any auto renewal activities, and that I could cancel this auto renewal feature at any time. I never received an initial confirmation email from eHarmony, but I was able to access my account, so I let that go. Boy was that a mistake! I recently logged onto my account and found that my account was locked and it had a note stating I owed *** with estimated tax) due to an auto renewal on my account that was charged on 10/6/20. Note that I saw this message only after I logged into my account and I was not notified by email of this charge. I immediately notified eHarmony (on 10/15/20) through their "contact us" feature on their website to request that the auto renewal charges be removed from my account as I was not notified prior to this charge so I would have the opportunity to cancel at that time. I also asked them if an additional 3 months could be added to my subscription end date due to their eHarmony guarantee policy since I had not found any suitable matches in the year that I had been on the website. They replied to my email the next day (10/16) saying that the eHarmony guarantee could only be applied within 30 days prior to my subscription expiration (which i was not notified of) and that the auto renewal charges would remain on my account and that i had 14 days to pay it. I immediately replied to their email stating that I had initially paid in full for my 12 month subscription, I had not gotten any notification that my subscription was ending or that my account would be charged an auto renewal in the next 30 days, and I was also not notified that they even tried to charge my account for the auto renewal when they did so on 10/06/20. They responded back 2 days later (10/18/20) stating the same info again and referencing their terms and conditions as to why I was charged the auto renewal. They also stated I was informed of this auto renewal on confirmation of my initial subscription (which I never received) and it would also be in the order confirmation which they said they resent me as a courtesy. I did not receive this either. They also stated they sent me a payment reminder on 10/12/20 and after 14 days with no response they sent me an email reminder for the total amount due *** plus tax). First of all, it has not been 14 days since 10/12, and second, I did not receive either payment email that they referenced. I responded back immediately stating such and I also asked if they could provide proof of my initial confirmation email, the auto renewal reminder (that they are supposed to send 30 days prior to any auto renewal activities per their own referenced terms and conditions), and either of the payment reminders. I also asked them to confirm what email they were sending those to since it obviously is not the email I have on my eHarmony account. I also asked that the existing fees be removed from my account once again since they were never communicated to me before being charged. They responded back today (10/19/20) saying that their team has carefully reviewed my recent inquiry about auto renewal charges and that my original denial was found to be appropriate and this would be their final decision. They also provided no proof of my confirmation email, 30 day auto renewal reminder email, resend of the confirmation email, or payment reminder emails as I had asked for in my previous communication. They also did not provide the email address that they were claiming to have sent these emails to. The email ended with "Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any further consideration of your request."

I had a 6 month subscription with eharmony. I checked off/cancelled the automatic renewal. EHarmony is saying I did not and charged C$940 for an annual renewal I did not ask for, in fact turned down. This discrepancy between my actions and eharmonies is probably due to their websites complexity and deceptions. eHarmony did refund me one half of this charge but are insisting on keeping half. This is very unfair to say the least.

The date of transaction was 3/25, I received a FRAUD alert on my credit card from my bank . I went through the steps advised, and disputed the charge. The company continues to email me, although, I desire to cancel the service, it was promoted as free views.

I paid my bill, but keep getting charged! Had multiple issues with the site, but they falsely advertise customer care 24/7, when there is no email or phone or chat or ANY way to reach help! Their service truly sucks!

eHarmony Date application finding me no matches

Eharmony charged me $55.08 a month for their services in September, October and November 2023. Yet I only got 3 contacts from men. One was over 200 hundred miles away and NOT within my specified search range. The second I met for a date and found out he was recovering from colon cancer. The third guy who messaged me was so ugly, he was a candidate for serious plastic surgery.

Eharmony is now well know for discriminating against racial and religious minorities and giving us very few matches. The company was founded by a fundamentalist Christian who caters to that very largely white crowd. I am a religious minority as indicated on my Eharmony application. I think that is the reason I received very few matches. I want all my money refunded. ($55.08 multiplied by 3.)

Claimed loss: $55.08 times 3 plus my time lost filling out their very long questionnaire

Desired outcome: Refund of all my money ($55.08*3) and $200 for my wasted time.

eHarmony SCAMMERS - Stay away. Negative star review.

Firstly, they'll tell you it's a free dating service but you are only allowed 1 or 2 messages before you have to sign up. Then you think you are locked in for 6 months. Then they will make it difficult to cancel and you'll think you actually have but really, they are very sneaky will do an auto renewal for a year at exorbitant prices! Then the customer service will run rings around you with their emails telling you they don't have an account under your name and someone will respond within 48 hours and you will never be able to speak to a real person. I'm glad to hear that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is taking them to Federal court for their dishonest and misleading business practices.
