I logged onto ebookee.org to find some free ebooks -- as they had advertised on their website description. I had several choices to download free ebooks. I selected a Direct Download. I was then directed to a REQUEST FOR MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION (I had absolutely no plans to use my credit card) but I was told on the webpage, [which I made a screen-print of], that my credit card WOULD NOT BE CHARGED. I then did click on a NEXT button to give them my credit card info... then I read -- by my joining - their monthly charge was an outlandish $34.00 plus. I immediately closed the website... but later I found that they DID get my credit card information. I grew suspicious and immediately checked my credit card account and found that they ALREADY PLACED A PENDING CHARGE OF $1.00 ON MY CREDIT CARD. And on the credit card account charge -they had provided a telephone number. I called the number and talked to a lady -- (she indicated that they are a GAME website, and she was at www.wishplay.net She informed me that the $1.00 charge was pending ONLY if I decided to become a member. Apparently, the ebookee.org was a website FOR wishplay.net, which is a game company. Then I rec'd a message late last night from wishplay.net -- welcoming me into their membership, which was FREE and that I would not be charged for their services until I bought anything on my account.
I told her I felt that the total plan was very MISLEADING, and that on the ebookee website, I was informed that I would have NO CHARGES on my card.
I have completely stopped my CREDIT CARD AUTHORIZATION FOR SEVEN DAYS!
I also have CONCERNS that the ebooks they offered WERE NOT LEGAL EBOOK COPIES. I have a record of all my transcactions.
I am just attempting to QUESTION the validity of this website... and apparently they are using unethical practices. I am very opposed to websites such as this and I would like to try to get them removed from the Internet- if at all possible. Next time, I will do my own research on the Internet before I use a questionable website. [protected]@live.com Crescent, OK, USA

Exact same experience for me. I signed up because it said FREE only to find out the free was for 5 days then the charges started. I immediately called and cancelled and advised that I thought their sign up page was misleading and deceptive. I received the cancellation email and can only hope they really do not charge my account. VERY DECEPTIVE WEBSITE
