RE: BE A STOCK CAR DRIVER.COM

Ok, well to begin with we had a session scheduled in May which was cancelled via email 2 days prior to our scheduled date. We live approx 2 hours from the venue so planning and arrangements were necessary for us. My husband and I both had to take the day off work...kids out of school, ect...

So our rescheduled date was yesterday. We went to Gresham Motorspeedway which is where we were originally told the venue was being held out. We arrive at 10am and got to meet Bill Elliots brother, that was neat...but he said that there is no event happening at their location and that they have a pending lawsuit against beastockcardriver for using their name.

We start heading home and I call the 800# and she informs me that the venue was changed to Lanier Motor Speedway and that an email was sent out. I never got this said email.

We arrive at 11:45 and are the very last people in line...32 people scheduled to drive for the 11:30 session. They have brought 3 race cars, 1 has transmission problems, 1 has some other issue and 1 is actually running pretty well. Because we were last, my husband got his first 5 laps with the instructor at 1:45pm. At 2pm, they tell us to take an hour for lunch and be back by 3pm.

Now, the package promises the following:
Detailed classroom instruction (We did not get)
A tour of the track (We did not get)
5 Hot laps (check, yes we got)
30 Laps behind the wheel (We did not get)
Personalized race suit and fire-proof hood (did not get)
Lunch provided for drivers (nope, didn't get that either)

Ok, so we come back at 3pm. We wait another hour only to find out that they have been shut down by Lanier because their check for the rental of the track bounced. So by 4pm, they finally get this worked out and start the cars again. Mind you they did not touch the cars during the 2 hour period, so we have to wait on them to do all of that now as well.

At this point it is now 4:30 and the group for the 2nd session of the day is showing up, only to be turned away. Due to the time, they are running you 15 laps, come in for instruction and go back out for 15 more laps. Shortly into this, one of the drivers blows the motor in one of the only 2 cars running. They say, we knew it had a bad motor and was going to go at any moment. So...they knowingly brought 1 good car for 32 people to drive? Anyway, they then tell us we can get a refund, come back on Sunday (which Lanier Motor Speedway did not have them scheduled for) or stay and wait your turn. We were told they were out until midnight on Tuesday, so needless to say we did not stay.

We talked to a lot of other people who had similiar issues with this company, I would not recommend paying this kind of money for this kind of experience!

We were there on Wednesday, June 15th. It was a total circus of clowns. Nothing promised in the package was provided...NOTHING! Got shut down for 2 hours because they wrote a bad check to the speedway. Engine blew up, transmission didn't work...1 running car for 32 people to "compete" in...TOTAL SHAM!

Update by JenPD
Jun 17, 2011 1:24 pm EDT

Not sure why my post came out that way...last part should read. They had 3 cars on site, 1 had transmission problems, 1 had a blown engine...so they had 1 running car for 32 people to compete in...and i use the word compete loosely.

I've had my time cancelled twice now. The first time they at least had the courtesy to give me prior notice of a few days and gave the explanation that they were trying to get their cars fixed so they did not have differing capabilities. However, I was scheduled to go June 20, 2011 at 4:30 and showed up at the track only to find no one was there. I checked my email and found they had sent a cancellation email only 3 hours before my scheduled time. I've called the company but still haven't gotten an explanation. However, from reading similar complaints on this website I can start to form a guess. My recent experiences also cause me to question the excuse given after the first cancellation. As a busy professional who has now twice had to schedule leave time on a weekday only to have the agreement dishonored I would absolutely not recommend anyone else give this company their money.

Bought a Groupon, traveled 2 hours to racetrack to find the cops have seized their assets! No e-mail, phone call, nada to tell us before we wasted a whole day driving up and back to find out www.BeaStockCarDriver.com is a SHAM!

I had a similar experience for my originally scheduled date at Hickory Motor Speedway. I was all excited because my fiancee and her mom got me the groupon for my birthday and I was going to get to drive after being in Charlotte for a weekend full of racing. I called multiple times to get a confirmation that I was locked into the Hickory date, which was the first on the schedule for 2011. I got no response for days and decided not to go the day of because I couldn't confirm. I got an email a few hours after I was supposed to start saying that they had a scheduling issue with my time and to schedule it for later. I continued to call and email BASCD for weeks to confirm my spot at Lanier a few days before I shipped out to Afghanistan. Finally, a few days before my June date at Lanier, they answered my phone call and explained that they were extremely understaffed and did not expect the response that they received. She said that they had a small operation to begin with and in the process many people had to be let go due to the high expenses of the experience they offered. She then sincerely apologized for the inconvenience and that they were giving me 10 extra laps to the 30 I had already purchased and then thanked me for my military service. The day came and when I showed up it went off with a bang. They had 3 cars, but one with problems so 2 were going to be running. I was 5 or 6 in line and waited about 2 1/2 hours before my turn. I got my 5 ride around laps, then started my driving. The instructed liked my control of the car after the first 4 or 5 laps and then let me hammer down on the gas and stay in it longer into the corners and get back into it quicker coming out. When the 30 laps were up the instructor said I know your deal you still have 10 more so hammer it down and go! Though I never received the video of my driving, racing suit, helmet, or souvenir bag I still had an amazing time going 130-140 mph around a short track. The staff was very polite and professional and worked to accommodate us all as best as they could. And I couldn't really be upset about not getting the gifts because for $169 I was able to ride for 5 laps and drive all out for 40! Any other racing school would charge you about $[protected] for that kind of experience. I know the company has had some problems but they are by no means a scam. They are just a small time operation that had struggles with customer service because they had to fire most of the staff due to expenses. I would and hopefully can buy another experience from them and get another chance to drive.

Well I just got an email from Groupon stating that "due to unforeseen circumstances..." they are refunding my money for the Beastockcardriver groupon that I bought a few months ago. I was planning to use it this fall for my birthday. I'm sorry that so many of you had problems. I'm happy that Groupon is a stand up organization and offered up a refund. I had no idea there were any issues. Again, it's too bad so many of you were scammed. I appreciate you all stepping up to let people know because heaven only knows how many more folks would have taken had you all not said any thing. I hope you all get refunds or at least some sort of compensation.

This is beginning to sound like a broken record. My brother and I have had the exact same experience as well. We've had three dates cancelled at the last minute (within 24-48 hours) after making arrangements to attend. These guys are one of the most unprofessional bunch of losers that I have ever dealt with. Groupon is refunding the money to my brother (he bought them as a Christmas gift) so they're at least handling it professionally. I don't know that there is much that could be done but I hope these guys get sued or maybe do a little jailtime.
And hey No Thanks...Thanks for chiming in with that brilliant idea but we've had these tix since October and were bought through Group On which is a reputable company whose coupons I've used many times. Their website only recently posted that message. Maybe stick to commenting on things you have a clue about.
And The Love Fist V - Yes, refunds have been given. That does not pay any of us back for time from work, travel expense, childcare, etc. Not to mention the value of our own personal time. Please shut up.

We've had the same HORRIBLE experience as most of you! I purchased the Groupon for my husband a few months ago for Father's Day. We were scheduled 1st for April 30th at Bristol. My husband is in the military so getting time off is very difficult. He took leave and we headed the 5hr trip to only get a call part way there telling us it had been cancelled due to possible severe weather conditions. We spent $100 for gas and food. We were rescheduled in May. Took the trip again to only sit and wait all day at the speedway. From 10am-5pm, I sat pregnant w/our three kids, while my husband waited his turn. We were turned away at 5pm and told that they didn't have the track past 5pm. This weekend trip cost us over $400. They again rescheduled for yesterday in Nashville. I arrange childcare this time and we drive an hour to Nashville to find out that the venue was cancelled w/out any notice. Yesterday cost us about $150. We have since sent emails and phone calls and they are not being returned! We have now spent close to $800 for NOTHING but heartache. Plus, my husband has spent several days of leave time! I'm not very impressed at all...

I bought this for my bf back in early spring for his birthday and have just now gotten to give it to him and try and schedule--had all of the same "no response" issues from BASCD as you guys and finally wrote groupon to ask their suggestions. This is their AWESOME response:

i Sarah,

Thank you very much for your feedback and I do apologize for any trouble.

We are actually in the process of pulling these deals, which is most likely why you were unable to redeem your Groupon. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

I have processed a refund and canceled this Groupon. Please allow up to 10 days for this to reflect in your credit card activity.

Thanks again and please let me know if I can help you further (and happy birthday to the bf!).

Regards,

Jeff M.

I got my deal in January for my birthday present. Was scheduled originally for May 26th at Gresham Motor Speedway and called several days in advance to verify. I was told it had been cancelled and I should have gotten an e-mail. Nope. I rescheduled for July 12th at Lanier, and now I'm seeing this message up about "unforeseeable circumstances". I'm trying to call, but 3 hours finds me with no answer at BASCD or at Lanier, who's recording states track offices don't open till July 20th. Further, I have been told that BASCD's equipment was confiscated by police...huh? What I'm hearing about number of cars and such is not what I was told at the bginning of all this. Obviously, the disappointment is high...BTW, I have no cancellation e-mails from BASCD at this time either...

I also purchased groupons last December as Christmas presents for my brother and I. Between my work in GA, his school /work schedule in TN, both of us wanting to research the tracks to get the best experience, and our laidback we'll get around to it soon enough attitudes, we never actually got the chance to schedule a date.
We had finally decided on Gresham MS in Feburary or March, but when I got on their website, Gresham was no longer listed but at least they had Lanier MS listed which was basically the same distance away. The dates were much later though and he started work at a new job so we had to go back to figuring out the best track with the new dates. Once we finally decided on a date for Lanier MS, I got on their site the next morning and all of the Lanier MS dates had been removed. I figured "damn" that's what I get for not signing up the second we picked a date that would work for both of us.
A few days later my brother then tells me he's moving to CO in a few weeks, and we need to schedule somewhere right away. He was looking at the site while I was driving back from a trip and Greenville-Pickens was the only decent option, but when I got home and on the site to finally schedule for real, it was "down for regular maintenance." Same thing the next day, then the next morning I refreshed the page just before heading to work and it was back up. I get to work and every track link goes to a "does not exist, page can't be found." I'm like wtf?! And a note at the top says that they no one is in the office because they are having a training session for all staff. I send an email to inform them of the broken links and to see if it would be easier to call and set up my 'experience.' Later the next day, the top of their page had a message saying that they know that their links are down but they should have them up and working in a few hours. I didn't actually get an email back from them, but I thought the acknowledgement on the site was good enough. The same message was up the next morning, but around lunch they had a new message stating " NOTICE: Due to unforeseeable circumstances, all previously posted tentative dates and locations for Experiences have been postponed, and online Booking will not be available until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we are working diligently to get dates and locations rescheduled as soon as possible. If new dates and locations that are suitable to you cannot be set within a reasonable time, all fees you have paid through Third Party Retailers or directly to us will be refunded to you as soon as possible. If you require a refund please go to Driver's Lounge and send us a message with REFUND in the subject line. Our commitment is to provide you with the highest level of customer service, and will make every effort to earn your support and continued business. We appreciate your patience while we get this situation resolved."
With my brother leaving for awhile, I don't have a major sense of urgency to schedule anymore, but it's pretty crappy that we've been looking forward to this for so long and won't have the opportunity to do it anytime soon. Since Groupon has been so great with refunds for the bascd exeriences, I'm going to hold out for awhile before throwing in the towel. Maybe BASCD can get their ### together, and I won't have to get a refund to then buy another racing experience where you only get to drive 5 laps for the same price as 30 laps with this offer. The coupon doesn't expire for several months so I figure I might as well wait it out until they post more tracks/dates or say that they are no longer in business. I wish I had just gone ahead and booked one of those Feburary/March dates right after Christmas, but at least I didn't get screwed over with taking off work or showing up at a track to then find out I would have to reschedule then go through the same thing with the rescheduled date like some of ya'll.
Has anyone gotten exactly what they expected to get or had a really great experience? There has to be more than just sholmes717.

We booked it through Groupon back in September 2010 as a present for our husbands for Christmas. After being cancelled 2x at Gresham/Lanier and ALL without any notice( again, our husbands had to take 2 days off work for this) and after reading their website yesterday I got my money back from Groupon this morning.

Kudos to Groupon. They have been nothing but professional and sincere throughout this whole process and I won't hesitate to buy anything through them because they always guarantee a refund.

No Thanks, most of these people purchased these coupons from groupon and other deal sites months ago, as early as fall of last year. The message on the website is a new development, something put up in the past week or so after the whole scheme/business appears to have collapsed. Groupon has already removed any running deals from bascd on their website.

A friend showed me it and immediately red flags went off everywhere. I have been racing for a few years so I have some understanding of what is involved and anyway I spun it I could not see how they could sustain a business with what they supposedly offered with their programs. Two main things - with the cost of the program through all the discount websites, I couldn't see how they could make money if they offered anywhere close to what they claimed in the experience. Secondly, with the amount of deals they sold - several thousand seemingly - I could not see how they could have the capacity to accommodate everyone, even if they ran this thing almost every day! I actually ended up buying through groupon because my friends were doing it although I was very skeptical. Our experience was the same as most, never actually got to the track, rescheduled over and over again, bascd was generally unresponsive to emails and calls. I just got my money back from groupon.

From my research it seems there were one or a few decent dates at Hickory, a few disastrous dates at a few other tracks and that's it. Maybe they actually served 50 or so customers out of thousands! As far as I can tell this thing is done. I feel bad to people that lost money on hotels, gas, actually drove out to the tracks, etc. We were skeptical so we waited to the last minute and I only lost out on some time off work for nothing.

I see two scenarios for what most likely happened here. The owners were very ignorant to what it takes to run a racing business and the whole thing collapsed, or it was pretty much a ponzi scheme scam from the start. Either way I'm not that surprised.

Fortunately it seems like Groupon is fulfilling all refunds, hopefully any other sites that ran the deals do too, although I question them running the deals to begin with.

Update. Groupon states they will fully refund the $169. They say it should be posted to my account within next 10 days. I will post again if they don't; however, I fully expect they will, as they responded immediately, multiple times, and without questioning my statements. Apparently more than just a small group of people are experiencing these issues with BASCD. I believe the May 31st date is the only one that has actually been completed. sholmes..I am envious that you got a good experience out of it - I would much rather have had that happen than all this mess I encountered.

Yep we got totally screwed too. Same deal, two days before the scheduled event I get an email saying its canceled but no comments. I called left messages for three days in a row and nothing. We did get our money back via Groupon which is a great thing that they stood behind their promise.
What sucks is that was to kick off our anniversary weekend. Kinda really sets the tone. I will be spreading the word about this company.

Ditto for me here in GA. I was rescheduled twice for the "compete experience" I bought for $169 (no problem except I lost my work personal leave...because of late notice from BASCD). I was rescheduled the third time by phone, for July 11th, and I assumed still at Gresham MS since the idiot on the phone didn't say otherwise. I never got the confirmation email that this person said she would send after "they post the new dates online, and she can officially schedule me". Next thing I know June 13th I get a "cancellation email" (again). Only this time, they proclaim that I scheduled for June 11th for the "rookie experience" at Bristol MS in TN and I may not get a refund or the experience. TOTAL AND COMPLETE SCAM. I agree with the last post completely. This company was a startup and had too good to be true discounts, hoping they could use all that money for startup. They could not afford what they got into and now I am out $169. I also emailed Groupon tonight, and told them that I would make it my lifes mission to inform all my friends and their friends and family that Groupon did not stand behind their "product" and were a dangerous gamble, if I didn't get a refund, and boy do I mean it. I will even go to the local news station because this is a BIGGIE! Can you imagine - I bet there are many more companies similar to BASCD that have pulled the same scam thru Groupon. I have been using EBay for decades now and have never had any issues that weren't resolved immediately. I am am just crushed (this was my birthday present...boy was I naive).

I bought groupon for BASCD a few days before Father's Day. I "unfortunately" didn't do research on company until after I bought groupon. Just a few minutes after I bought groupon, I did research online. I couldn't find 1 instance of anyone successfully, completing BASCD experience. Except for their own site, and bunch of ads for $169.00 discount offered by different coupon organizations across the U.S., the only other information I found were a few complaints. 1) Last minute cancellations and 2) BASCD not returning phone calls.

I immediately emailed Groupon, expressing my apprehension and inquiring about refund. Groupon emailed back, stating - "that Groupon stands by it's offers, they also try and give new, interesting businesses a chance. If there would be a significant issue with my BASCD groupon, I would be refunded". There was no offer to refund my money at that immediate time.

Fast forward a week later. I get email from Groupon stating - "due to unforseen problem with BASCD groupons. My groupon was being canceled, and my money would be returned to my account". This was 2 days ago, no refund yet. I like to believe that Groupon will honor their word.

I would suggest that anyone who bought BASCD groupon and had bad experience contact Groupon for refund. I do not agree with person who said, "this should be expected, since it's such a good deal". If this is the case it should be stated to you when you buy. At the BASCD site, they do mention that there may be instances of rescheduling. However, in any legit business this should not be the norm. It should be unusual, especially for such last minute notifications, of cancellation. There is especially no excuse for changing venues, and not contacting participants until just hours before. There is no excuse for not returning phone calls to customers in a timely manner. When I called BASCD inquiring about different venues, I also never got response.

It sounds to me like BASCD didn't have money to start business, and figured they could use all this groupon money to get it started. It sounds like they spent this money, on what, I'm not sure. They could have been spending it on actual company costs but highly underestimated these costs, and/or made assumptions that they could make arrangements with tracks at last minute. I'd like to believe that owners of BASCD had the best intentions, and were not just taking the money to run. I think they ran out of money before they had everything they needed, and came up with the idea to use groupons to come up with capital. They might not have thought that customers were going to try and use groupons so quickly, and found themselves completely unprepared.

So again, if you bought a groupon for BASCD, I suggest that you contact Groupon right away. Groupon may have to take a bath on this one, but I don't feel bad about that. They should have done better research on this company, before offering such a costly groupon. Best of luck to everyone.

Scheduled to go to Gresham on June 23, called BeAStockCarDriver.com on Wednesday to confirm and their offices are closed for employee training. Call Gresham to confirm, informed that BASCD broke their contract and was not using the facility. Called Lanier and they are closed. I have not received any emails from BASCD informing me of a track change. Any emails I have received have been when I have called requesting information, then I am told that things have changed and then they send me an email. When I log onto the website and check the status of my order under my account, the item I ordered "has been removed from the store" and the link to download the needed paperwork says "You have requested an invalid product download. Please try again." I am expecting that when I show up tomorrow to have my NASCAR experience, it will be an "experience" not worth the drive or money.

SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO US. Two cancellations and no one has called to reschedule after we've called and left about 10 voicemails. I bought mine through TIPPR, contacted them too and they also have yet to respond. Just went and filed a dispute with my bank against them, $169 is not money people can just throw away. NEVER USING EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES AGAIN.

I purchased a Groupon for BASCD at Gresham Motorsports. Had to re-schedule.

Molly@bascd.com re-scheduled me for Lanier Motoer Sports Track in Braselton for [protected] at 06:30 via email.

Showed up to find the gates chained. Photographed them with date stamp. Road Atlanta across the street said they were always getting people coming in and complaining that no one was there. Considered them "shady" Went back to the entrance until the clean up crew showed at 8:30. They said nothing was scheduled.

It cost me $ 169 for the Groupon (who I hold partially responsible) $ 75 for hotel $ 4 for breakfast and $ 19 for gas.

These people are CROOKS pure and simple.

I purchased a Groupon for an early May date at Hickory Motor Speedway. It was rescheduled once and I got to go on May 31st at Hickory. I have to say that my experience was vastly different and VERY POSITIVE. There were only 15 people there that day because it was a Tuesday but I figured that would be the case as a holiday or weekend would be swamped in comparison. And I was right. While the experience wasn't "exactly" what was stated (ie no classroom instruction & no racing suit although I was told it would be mailed to me so maybe it's coming) I was VERY satisfied given the price. While 3 cars were on the track at any given time, I ended up being in the last group. The other 2 cars went out on the track and the instructor and I were chatting it up for a few minutes in the car. He then decided to wait until the other 2 cars were finished before we hit the track. So I got to do (2) 15 lap sessions all by myself on the track. I've never been in a stock car nor have any racing experience but I listened very closely to the limited instruction and the instructor allowed me to basically run all out because I was showing that I could control the car properly. My wife was filming it and apparently got my times down to 18 seconds and according to some race video on YouTube the drivers average around 16 seconds a lap during races. So they certainly let me hammer down the gas (and brakes of course) which they didn't let most other drivers do simply because most people failed to utilize the brakes in conjunction with the gas (something you know if you've ever played NASCAR on PS3 or watched any short track racing on TV). I realize my experience was not typical but I believe people need to factor in the Groupon price of $169. If you want everything to be perfect, then you might want to go elsewhere and pay more or simply be patient and allow them to reschedule you as I'm sure they will make it up to you and worth your while. I will say I would have been ticked if I got to the track & it was moved to another track & then I still didn't get to race that day. No doubt about that but that doesn't make it a SCAM by any means. Seems like you simply missed an email from them. Yes, they should followup with a phone call with any schedule changes or you as the customer should have kept in contact with them as they responded each time I inquired about something. And just know that your dates will probably change with an experience like this as they simply can't incur the costs of transporting the cars, people, gas, & track rentals if they don't have a full lineup of customers signed up. That's just a given in my mind thus I wasn't surprised when I was rescheduled. So for anyone considering BeAStockCarDriver.com, I'd say your experience probably won't be as good as mine but I really think you'll still be quite satisfied.
