American Auto Shield Non coverage

I have been paying for coverage on my car since July, 2023, over $500.00. When I signed up for the coverage I was made aware of the monthly waiting period, but mileage restriction was never mentioned. Had I known this, I would not have purchased the insurance. We purchased the car strictly for local use. My recent claim was denied because I haven't driven 108 miles. This so wrong!

I will never recommend American (Car Shield) Auto Shield to anyone. In fact, I plan on putting the negative feedback on all my media sites, if you do not respond or provide the coverage I have been paying for the last 4 months. I will also file my complaint to the Better Business Bureau if you fail to respond.

Desired outcome: pay for the recently submitted claim!

American Auto Shield Auto repair coverage

My vehicle broke down on a Sunday and I had to get it repaired to get home for work on Monday. Pep Boys was the only place open on Sunday. I paid them just over $1,200 for the work. I submitted the claim and I was only reimbursed for $777. The company is not able to provide any details of how they reached that dollar amount. This company is a SCAM. Please do not purchase a policy from them.

American Auto Shield Warranty coverage

I have a 2017 Ford F 250 diesel. I purchased the Titanium plus warranty because the salesman said it will cover everything on my pickup. I had a check engine light, so I took it into the Ford dealer to check out. They found a bad knock sensor. The Titanium Plus comes with the emission package, and they list every other sensor in the motor, except the knox sensor. So they wouldn't cover it. So what good is a warranty that says they cover everything, but doesn't cover everything?

Desired outcome: Just take care of the claim

American Auto Shield Rejected claim # 2224662

The first claim by mercedes dealer ship for repairs was too high. The second claim, 2224662, was concise and at usual and customary amounts. Both claims were given with videos / or photos. Engine mounts broke and caused transmission mounts to break. This also Caused the head gasket to leak. All of these are covered by my contract # MFF4527825. I had great difficulty finding this dispute form.

Desired outcome: Repairs need to be covered as per my contract.

American Auto Shield Everyone needs to take equal responsibility for their actions

As a former employee of this fraudulent dump, I hate the fact that AAS and their accomplice Carshield, have not been shut down.

The Class Action Lawsuit against them, as well as, the horrible reviews via Consumer Affairs and the business alert in bold red letters via the BBB's website since May 27, 2021 along with the F rating, hasn't made a difference at all.

I also find it laughable how they conveniently get random individuals to post fake 5 Star reviews, after customers and repair shops that have actually dealt with them, post negative reviews that are REAL and TRUTHFUL!

The [censored]s that run/manage this company must not realize how incredibly obvious this is. Lol

Also, to the Customers and Repair Shops that contact Customer Service and curse, yell at, and call the Representatives nasty names that you wouldn't want someone to call you or anyone you care about, you're pissed at the wrong people!

You get hung up on and disrespected in return because of your unhinged behavior! The person on the other end of that line is a human being with feelings, just like you!

The customer service reps are doing what management has instructed them to do, which is lie to you! CSR's do not have control over how or when the claims are processed, and why they get denied. Not all, but some of the Adjusters slack off, and "Management" sits back and allows it.

Those of us like myself with integrity, quit working at AAS long ago, and found better jobs. Others are still there out of desperation for money because they can't find anything else.

Granted, some may be at a point where they enjoy doing the dirty work out of spite, due to being spoken to in such a hateful manner by customers and mechanics on a constant basis.

I must say, as consumers, it's your responsibility to do your research on every establishment you seek to do business with before spending your hard earned money, so you do not get taken advantage of.

Instead, many of you decide to rely on Carshield commercials with D list celebrities that do not need a car warranty, nor have ever used one.

Then, you contact and argue back and forth with Customer Service multiple times per day because you voluntarily signed up for this warranty without Googling the horrible reviews that have been in place for several years!

To top it off, you swear you want to cancel the policy, threaten to get a lawyer and disconnect the call before the reps can transfer you to the appropriate department and end up calling right back to complain more. Make it make sense!

You cannot have it both ways and you can't even blame the company itself for that!

YOU watched a commercial, YOU decided to call Carshield, and YOU allowed a sleazy sales person to con YOU out of YOUR money! Think about it.

Learn to use COMMON SENSE people! They clearly market to the weak minded!

Bottom line, there is equal blame to be spread around.

Yes, Carshield (the seller of the warranty/contract) and AAS (the administer of the claims) are wrong to promise services they don't plan to fulfill, and cheat people out of money they don't really have.

However, the consumers need to stop being so damn gullible, and falling into the trap of clever advertisements. Many of you are old enough to know better!

The stupidity of the public is keeping them in business! IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT'S MOST LIKELY A SCAM!

Like it or not, and get upset with this review if you'd like, but this needs to be said. The truth hurts...

Desired outcome: N/A

American Auto Shield Carshield/American Auto Shield Service Plan

Carshield and American Auto Shield needs to be held accountable for what their agents/employees/contractors misrepresentation of the facts. Why isn’t the government we pay taxes to that’s suppose to be for the people investigate and regulating their business practices?

They told me I needed a court order to get a copy of the call I had with their claims adjuster that said what he said but the company he was an agent or employee of didn’t perform what was promised.

Desired outcome: I just want them to provide me with the transcripts/recordings from the phone calls and emails associated with my claim as they promised one thing but did another.

Update by John F250
Oct 03, 2022 3:34 pm EDT

Update. The appraiser only approved the "part" that was in the engine to be replaced. Not the damage caused to the vehicle engine because of the faulty part. Submitted to American Auto Shield for additional review.

------------

Estimator did not cover all the damage to vehicle engine.

I was driving on the hwy when I heard a noise, sounded like a explosion. I pulled over and observed steam and smoke coming from under the hood. I shut down vehicle and called for a tow to closest dealership shop.

Per the shop mechanic, the injector faulted and was sucked into the engine.

From the mechanic:

Engine has blown out #1 injector, upon inspection, found

part of injector tip missing. Crankcase has fuel in oil and

metallic particles in oil. Suspect injector failure causing

excessive fuel into cylinder and overtemp of cylinder.

Failed injector caused fuel hydrolocking of cylinder which

caused injector assembly to be blown completely out of

engine. Engine baycovered in oil and fuel residue, no signs

of running after failure of injector.

This occurred on September 8th. It has been over 3 weeks waiting for the appraiser to get back to use with approval for repairs. However he/she only approved the replacement of the Injector. Not the extensive damage caused by the Injector.

Please let me know ASAP when I can get my truck repaired. The time this is taking is becoming unacceptable.

Thanks

American Auto Shield American Auto shield

Took my 07 Ford into Watermark Ford Marion IL. My Service team, I notified AAS, Carshield to initiate a claim. We were given the run around, the Customer Service was shady as we were not allowed to escalate issues. I purchased this service from Car shield in good faith. Despite these I was forced to pay 576.00 out of pocket. Yet Carshield expected me to pay 199.00 per month for their service. When I named Carshield in complaint to the Missouri

Attorney General Fraud Bureau, they named American Auto Shield as their Administration. It is my wish to hold both companies liable.

Desired outcome: I want a refund of my repair costs 576.00

American Auto Shield Extended warranty

We bought a vehicle February 2022 and Had the vehicle fully inspected by a Euro expert with diagnostics in March, everything was fine.. We also had another diagnostics completed in April that was all good minus replacing 2 plugs and 2 coils.

We finally received the title of the car in April 2022 but did not receive the service records of last transmission oil change from the previous owner.

May 4th 2022 We had the transmission oil changed. On the form it ask if I had any questions about my vehicle, Since this is was my first Euro type car, I asked if hearing all the gears change was normal for this type of vehicle when driving in the comfort automatic mode. The guy explained that this was normal and explained that it is a Dual Clutch Transmission. He also suggested I buy an extended warranty if I didn't have one already due to the higher cost on the repairs for this type of vehicle specifically a one with a DCT transmission if ever needed.

May 28th Bought the Extended Warranty with Carshield at 84k miles.

Fast Forward to August 2022. Car started occasionally going into "limp mode." After multiple 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinions, and now at the dealership, the car needs a new Transmission... and apparently not uncommon problem with a [protected] DCT transmission.

Inspector from American Auto Shield was given:

1. Diagnostic Papers that show the diagnostics inspection in March when we bought the car.

2.. Diagnostic Codes that shows the transmission failed at 86k miles (2k miles and 3 months after we bought the extended warranty).

2. Service paperwork that shows the recent transmission fluid change in May.

Claim was denied per American Auto Shield stating that because I had the transmission oil changed and questioned about hearing the gears change, this makes it a pre-existing Transmission Issue prior to buying the extended warranty.

American Auto Shield Paying for claim

Brought my car in because it starting acting funny. The first place I brought it to said I needed a new transmission after almost two weeks car shield adjuster didn’t like that transmission shop so forced me to take it to another shop.after spending over two months at this shop and me calling them daily to find out what’s going on. Everyone I talked to each had a different excuse and attitude. After not having a car for two and half months never being approved for a rental that’s in my contract and after making me give the ok for them to totally dismantle my transmission at a $1200 extra charge to me. They then came to the conclusion that because I didn’t tow it into the first shop and said because of preexisting condition they would only pay $1100 of now a $5300 bill. Originally the new transmission would have only been $3500 that included labor leaves me stuck paying $4200 balance. Of a bill they actually help create. I’m sick to my stomach over what this company has put me through and the debt they have put me under. This is literally the worst company I have ever had to deal with and highly recommend everyone to stay away from this company.

Desired outcome: I want them to pay the balance of this and not me. This is there responsibility for making this bill more than it should have been.

I have been with this company for almost two years and never made a claim until this year. I had gotten it checked out at a dealership and was told I had a faulty cam shaft, but they didn't except Car Shield. Car Shield gave me a list of shops that they have dealt with and recommend. My check engine light was and acceleration was sluggish. I went to two of the shops; the first shop insisted it was a fuel pump issue and needed to replace it before looking any further. That didn't solve the problem and I brought it back and was told they weren't working with Car Shield at the moment because of nonpayment for several cars. I was directed by Car Shield to take it to another shop (one they refered). That shop said it was the fuel pump even though I told them what the dealer had found. Now back to the dealer they said l need an engine now. Car Shield wanted them to break the engine down to inspect the damage, but at a cost to me ($1000). I called them and they said there's a recall on my car and I should get a second opinion. So I find another shop in their network they came to the same conclusion and it cost me $600 for them to break the engine down. After a month they denied the claim because they said there's metal and sludge in my engine. I'm not a mechanic but common sense tells me that if the fuel pump keeps failing you look for what is causing the failure. And as far as the sludge... I have had my oil changed faithfully. It is normal for some sludge to form on internal parts of an engine. I'm pissed and plan to do all in my power to fight this decision.

My name is Joyce Singleton, I live in Texas City, Tx. I took my 2006 CLS Mercedes to Cedes Repair in Dickinson, Tx. in June of 2022! I was really angry because that was the first time I had put my car in the shop since I got Car Shield. Please help me! Thank You!

American Auto Shield Complaint

July 7- Vehicle broke down and was towed to Dealer

July 10: Dealer does an assessment and submits required documents to American Auto Shield on. An adjuster was assigned by American Auto Shield (Robert) who advised the dealer that he would do his assessment of the claim and would advise a status within 24-48 hours.

July 11: Still no action from American Auto Shield Claims Dept. Repair facility was unable to contact or get response from adjuster (Robert).

July 13: Still not action from American Auto Shield Claims Dept.

July 14: After speaking to another representative, was advised that information was requested to be submitted from repair facility again. Was again advised that the process would take an additional 24-48 hours until claims dept could do an assessment of claim.

July 18: Contacted American Auto Shield and no action has been taken by adjuster or claims dept. Was advised that it could take an additional 24-48 hours.

July 19: Contacted American Auto Shield and no action has been taken by adjuster or claims dept. Was advised that it could take an additional 24 hours. Representative made an attempt to contact adjuster while I was on the line with no success. I asked to speak to customer service supervisor. She reviewed account and escalated for movement. She advised to call back in 2-3 hours. I called back after 4 hours and was advised by American Auto Shield that no movement had been made on the claim.

July 20: Decided to not call a third time on July 19 to give the process more time than was requested to allow them to review claim. Called mid-day on July 20 and representative advised that no action has been taken on the claim even though it was showing as escalated in the account notes. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor again and she advised that there was not one that would be able to take any action. She advised that American Auto Shield would be contacting the repair shop before 4pm central today.

Desired outcome: The desired outcome would be for the claims adjuster to do his job and process claim for repairs. They will not approve rental car until that takes place and I am currently 14 days from breakdown without a vehicle.

American Auto Shield Extended Vehicle Warranty with CarShiedl

Fraudulent Company. Shame on those celebs lying for this crappy company. Over a week and my car still hasn't been touched. I have submitted receipts for service, proof of purchase because I have had the car a bit over a year. They treat us like lying criminals all while ripping us off. I still have no rental car, so I am scraping rides every chance I get. My claim number is 2042239 and every time I give it, they want a statement of when did the car give me trouble, waiting for me to slip up and admit it is a pre-existing condition, which it isn't. My mechanic rep told me they are just as rude to him. They actually told him "there are many dishonest people out there who will sign a contract knowing a car has issues". I told my mechanic I wish they would say that to me and watch me go off! How dare these idiots say this about a paying customer. I have met all the guidelines for the contract waiting period and it just so happens I have an issue 14 days beyond the waiting period. Coincidence to CarShield, but real life for me. I work too hard to try and scam a business. CarShield, I think it is the other way around! They keep telling my mechanic they can't read the PDFs he sent, but confirmed to me they have them. Guess what CarShield? the same scanned records were copied to you in the exact format and you can't open them from my mechanic, but you can open them from me? Folks, it is true, they will hold your car hostage and keep you in limbo! I am going to speak with a lawyer, I will definitely reach out to these celebs and ask them do they really stand behind CarShield as millionaires with car troubles? Couldn't they afford the measly money to fix their car issues or are they full of [protected]@t like the product they back! Shame, Shame, Shame! CarShield and the celebs who back you. One week a simple Turbo underboost issue and you are preventing me from going to work and providing for my family on a car I am still financing. There is a place in hell for you!

Desired outcome: Fix my car and stop with the runaround

American Auto Shield Complaint

I purchased a policy from this company in January 2022. I had an engine failure in the 2005 Ford F350 (was determined to be a HVIP pump). The policy has a $100.00 deductible. I had the vehicle repaired at Red Rock Ford in Dickinson ND. When completed the invoice to me was $2,289.34. Shield paid $2,146.46. So they paid less than half. The vehicle had been at the shop 3 days when I was contacted by an adjuster and told "we may have a problem, there is severe sludge in that motor". The vehicle was not in the shop for repair yet. I'm wondering how he knew there was sludge. HE DIDN'T. I knew at that time there was going to be problems with this company.

Desired outcome: I paid 51% of a repair that under contract should have been $292.93
