AAMCO Transmissions Free Inspection cost $1000

On 8/3, I drove my 2012 Chevy Savana to AAmco located at 22886 Alexandro Blvd in Moreno Valley. I was told there was no charge to evaluate the transmission and give me a quote for repair.

At the end of the day, I was told the transmission was really bad and the cost estimate was $5,800 for a rebuilt transmission. When I said that was too much, The manager of the shop said he can rework the numbers and get back to me.

Later that day, he re-emailed a new quote for $4800. In the meantime I obtained several other quotes from the dealers and a local transmission place. The dealer was $5,800 total for a new transmission. AAmco then said they will match that price. I then found another place that quote me $4,900 for the same services.

The manager basically said that was not accurate even though I had it in writing from the other establishment. When I told him to that I was going somewhere else, he said they are charging me $1000 to pick up the car to re-assemble the vans transmission.

The manager said that charge applies only if they have to do the work to put back together. I told them to put the parts in the back of the van and I’ll

Have it towed. They said ok.

When I called to see if the van was ready for pickup, the manager said the owner will not release the van unless I pay $500. I told him no.

I have contacted AAmco corporate and plan to file a complaint with the BAR.

Desired outcome: Returned the car back in the condition they received it

AAMCO Transmissions Terrible service - Aamco Cream Ridge, NJ

I highly recommend the Cream Ridge Aamco if you don’t expect your car to be repaired in less than a year and until it‘s repaired you want to spend lots of money on public transportation, car rentals and rely on friends and neighbors for your transportation needs. Otherwise, GO ELSEWHERE. They greatly lack any professional responsibility or integrity.

After driving our car to the Cream Ridge Aamco for a “noisy engine,” it was over a year that we finally made arrangements to have our car transported to another shop for repairs since it was inoperable. That is correct, it was operable when we took it to them, but wasn’t when it was given back to us. During the interim that it was at Aamco, we heard many, many excuses why they couldn’t get it repaired from, “we can’t figure out the problem, we don’t have the part, we can’t find the part, we are short staffed, we’re sending it to another shop for repairs, we put in a replacement motor and it still doesn’t run, we’ve put in a second used motor and it doesn’t work either.” Usually, they would tell us the car would be operable the following Friday, yet when we called, it wasn’t repaired. In over a year we made 30 phone calls to check on the car’s status and they only called us two times to give us an update. Totally unprofessional over and over again. Finally, after a year of broken promises and them saying, “I’ve washed my hands of this car,” we made arrangements to have our car taken elsewhere. We were NEVER offered a “lender car,” reimbursed for our time and frustration or given a “fair market value” for our car. Correspondence with the Aamco headquarters never was productive. Aamco should be embarrassed and ashamed of this shop’s craftmanship and public relations with its customers. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THE CREAM RIDGE AAMCO.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission failure 4x on their own warranty in 6 months-and still broke

AAMCO Olympia, WA, 98506

2728 Martin Way E

Our 2004 Chevy Silverado (50k miles) went in to get the transmission fixed in February (after a minor accident).

Since then, the truck has been towed back to AAMCO Olympia for their own warranty work at least 3 times (March 7, April 23, and now July 28). Please keep in mind that we have only had the truck in our possession for less than 15 days total since February.

On July 28, I paid $4224.11, picked it up at 8am, drove from Olympia to Tacoma and then from Tacoma to Gig Harbor and the transmission failed in a round-a-bout.

I contacted the shop and spoke with the representative. After discussing the issue, I was asked to tow the truck back (and pay for the tow since they do not cover towing, which is something I have already done several times). I asked what they do different now that they haven't done the last 6 months. He reassured me they would work with a national lead tech to troubleshoot (which he admits they have already done and this is nothing new).

I specifically asked for them to stop payment. I paid for a service that was never completed. I gave them 6 months and 4 attempts, so by the manager deciding not to stop payment was fraudulent and unethical. I would like to take that money and tow to a different AAMCO in the Tacoma area or a different transmission service center entirely and get the truck fixed.

The only solution they were willing to entertain is for me to pay for a tow truck to haul the Chevy back to them and they would start troubleshooting again.

This is not an option for me as they have had it for 6 months already and have "fixed it several times" to only have me pay for a tow back to them.

They do not provide any solutions.

Note: They were troubleshooting and replaced the cluster (thinking it was what was wrong) and it was not. While talking to a representative on the phone in June, it was revealed that replacing the cluster was only a guess before they request to the insurance company that they replace the computer in the truck. AAMCO never submitted this request of a new computer because they know it is their own techs that are not properly trained to rebuild a transmission. We specifically asked to get a new transmission installed since the rebuild process was not successful but they claim they are not able to get a new one due to chain supply issues.

I let them know that if I didn't hear back from them by COB 7/29/22 then I would file a former complaint, dispute the payment, and contact an attorney.

I have attached the notes they gave me when I paid. Interestingly, they only started taking notes in April (not February when they first received it to work on).

Desired outcome: Receive a refund of $4224.11

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission

Hello All, I drop my car off Aamco in Horsham on the week of May 3rd to get a transmission rebuild. I was charge 3,100 plus taxes which came up to 3,300 in change. I was told that they would have my car for about a week, this is where the issues started. I got my car back a few days later than what they said it would take, I drove my car about four hundred feet from the shop and had to bring it back so they could check it out once again, to make a long story short, they tried to fix my 5 times a total of 9 weeks and they still can't fix. I ask for my money and they kept trying to fix it, but couldn't accomplish that task. I even ask if they could keep the 1000 dollar that they charge be to open up my transmission and returned the rest which would have been about 2300. won't all of my money because that kept my car to long and they still did not fix it.

here is my number/ email address: [protected]@gmail.com. I hope that we can get resolved soon.

Desired outcome: To get my money back

AAMCO Transmissions Inferior parts (3) times pathetic workmanship, disgusting, nasty and filthy employees. And a store that was filthy inside and out.

I took my Nissian truck in for a tune up. They did it. I also had the vehicle towed in to have the shifter cable replaced in April. They replaced it, but not with dealer parts. The cable broke again in Dallas and left my family and I stranded. I limped the truck home, took it back to the dealer. They said they would fix it under warranty. They ordered another part, and it was broke when it was delivered. They ordered the part again, the same cheap junk part as the other two times. They fixed the cable, called me and said the truck was completed. I went, the truck was covered in grease and dirt, inside and out. There were parts, and screws, and gaskets and other parts laying in the seat and floorboard. I had to go back inside, complain and they pulled the truck around back and finished the job.

A week later, the cable broke again, I called AAmco and they gave me a bunch of excuses and lies and an attitude and rude to boot. I am now filing a law suite against AAMCo and the local dealer for a refund, as I had to have the truck fixed somewhere else.

These people are disgusting, nasty, filthy, unprofessional and rude.

Desired outcome: refund for shifter cable and labor.

AAMCO Transmissions Wrong Diagnostics and unnecessary repairs and money involved

Left my 2013 Nissan for stalling and hesitations with check engine light and battery symbol. No diagnostic codes from the car. Checked with local mechanic. Next checked the car with dealer . No diagnostic code and dealer said CVT is the issue. Spent $150.Came to AAMCO ; AAMCO said they will go by their diagnostics and confirmed No diagnostic codes so far. CVT to be replaced is the recommendations. CVT replaced. Full money paid $4200. This has 18 months/miles warranty. Within 100 miles of driving we had original problem again. Got the car to back the AAMCO dealer and they checked and told they did not see /get any issue. No codes detected by them.Took the car and within a day or two we got the same "stalling/check engine and battery light. Dropped off the car and ask them to check. After 1 week I called them to see the status. They said I can come and pick it up. I noticed in their sheet code was p0014. They said it will go away after driving for a while. I had to do DMV inspection. Failed with p0014. I towed the vehicle. Solenoid went bad. Paid $200 to fix it. We still have ORIGINAL "stalling/engine light and battery light" problem. This will lock the vehicle during low mileage and stop signals. Even in idle we can see. But the dealer do not see it. Today the car has symbol p0011 with check engine symbol on always. I bought a obd2 connector and checked. I did not take the vehicle to any other dealer or mechanic. I am no longer taking the vehicle to AAMCO dealer as I see more error codes & looks like there are errors in their diagnostic ability.

I asked them to refund the money. They refused.

Desired outcome: Please refund $4400. you can put back my CVT

AAMCO Transmissions supposedly rebuild transmission

June 22 of 2016 I took my car to aamco for a transmission rebuild and instead of rebuilding it they swapped it out for a transmission that couldnt hold up to the performance that my car had from factory. My car which is a 1998 daytona pace car #751 of 1500 built. This car has the factory transmission CD 4T65E/MN7. Your receipt specifically states to rebuild your company did not rebuild it ,they replaced it with a far less quality transmission which I didnt even get 23000 miles out of it.it needs to be replaced. I have 3 industry trained mechanics that have agreed that the original transmission was removed and replaced with a far less quality transmission that is not robust enough nor manufactured to properly rub in my vehicle . Your company has not just misrepresented

themselves but have stolen my transmission.

Desired outcome: my desired outcome is for the proper numbered transmission be put back in it and an apology made .

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission Repair/replace

My son Dane Simpson took my 2013 Ford Escape to the Aamco located on Vine street in Kissimmee Florida on or about 4/10/2022 to have the transmission checked as we were informed by Pep Boys that the transmission needed repaired/replaced and that we should take it down to Aamco. We were advised at that time by Aamco staff that the transmission was bad as well as a few other items that needed addressed. We were also were advised that it would take about a week to get the car back and would cost between $3000 and $4000 dollars. we have contacted them EVERY week since the end of May requesting the written estimate (which we have now been informed is at a cost of $4,972.61) and an update on completion of the repairs. EVERY time we call we are told it will be completed tomorrow and that the estimate would be emailed. It has been over 45 days and we still have not received the estimate nor has the vehicle repairs been completed nor has car been returned.

Desired outcome: at this point a substantial discount on the repairs and the repairs be completed within 48 hours and car returned.

AAMCO Transmissions Rebuilt tranny for 2006 ford explorer, by trinity automotive service center, llc

Truck did not get reverse. Took in next day 2-18-22 to closest aamco near me. They call 3 days later ask for issue ect. All verbal over phone for services. Rebuild tranny, ask about differentials and transfer case to be looked at, wanted nothing leaking. They said about $170 each.

Paid them $1200 for removal of tranny so they can tear it down and get idea of damage/cost. Week later got an estimate of parts of $1300. Thought this was for everything, it was just for differentials, trans case. They were all rebuilt. No mention about the actual tranny parts cost. 1 week later call to say it will be done next day. Get there and they said sorry ordered wrong parts. Another 5 days and told it was done, opps, wrong parts again and could not get stahl convertor to hook up to tranny. 5 days later told it was done, went up to shop, told auto was running so bad, could not get a good driving test done. This time I was willing to pay them to get the car done. Did not want anything else to slow the process down. Wrote check for 6398.00. Now I was told by vito they would pay for a car rental since we have had a bad deal with this fix. They showed me pics of wires spliced and it causing the problem. A new harness needs to be ordered. Now they won't pay for rental but will pay for new harness. My car was lasted work on in october for radiator. It runs great always has. That is why I was spending their quote of around $4500 for repairs. It is a 2006 with 208,000 miles old. They still have my auto and can not promise me when it will be ready. Their e-mail [protected]@aamcoemail.com

Desired outcome: refund some money. shady business ethnics from a Franchise of the AAMCO brand name.

AAMCO Transmissions Mt transmission

I took my 1994 Honda civic to aamaco in 2020 for a new transmission. I'm disabled and it was my only transportation. I'm on a fixed income so it took me 5 months to pay 2200.00 for it. After a few months the car began acting up. It would hesitate when I got up to 45mph so I took it back. The manager at that time drove it with me and denied anything wrong when he knew it was wrong and basically blowed me off. I have a 2 year warranty. The car kept acting up in 3 gears. I took it back again the end of February 2022 and complained. I told the new manager that I would walk to the mall and leave the car for them to fix the problem. 3 hours later I came back and was given a price of 140 00 to fix the problem. My warranty was still valid. I said nothing and called my son and my son spoke them and told them to go ahead with the repair. The manager and mechanic came out and basically told me that he would not fix it because I would have to leave the car. I couldn't because I couldn't afford a cab all the way home and back again and they knew this. This is very unprofessional and wrong to do to me. I'm in Jacksonville N.C. and the aamaco place was off western blvd. I want my car fixed right and will continue to go higher in the chain of command if I have to to get this done right.

Desired outcome: I want my car fixed as I was told.

AAMCO Transmissions Transmission

I took my transmission to Gold Coast Automotive Inc DBA AAmco.

Now I took my 2015 Ford Focus to this dealer on 01/27/2022 to get serviced. AAMCO Transmissions Transmission installation

In March/April of 2021, I paid $6500 to have a new transmission placed in my 2017 Dodge Ram 3500 truck. This new transmission came with a 36 month/500k miles warranty. After several weeks of my truck being with Aamco, I picked up the vehicle - with the expectation that the work was performed right. I relied on Aamco to order the appropriate transmission and install the transmission as they were the experts. Months later (December 2020), I started experiencing problems with the transmission again. I was told I could take the vehicle to any Aamco to be fixed and that it would be covered under the warranty. So, I then took the truck to Aamco in Randallstown, Maryland and after being there for 2 weeks, the explained to me that the wrong transmission was placed in my vehicle. They proceeded to tell me to pick up the vehicle and take it to the Aamco on Pulaski Hwy (Baltimore, Md) since they performed the work. Today, a week later, I spoke to Joe at the Pulaski Highway location, and was told that the warranty company may not cover the cost of a new transmission. He proceeded to say that they may request that I pay additional funds. I am very frustrated because I went to the subject matter experts to diagnose the issue, and fix the issue. I also trusted their advice in terms of the transmission. So, to learn that no one is taking accountability is very unfortunate. I am requesting to elevate this issue and speak to someone immediately about the unprofessionalism, misguidance, and lack of accountability. All I ask is to have the transmission replaced so that the truck operates properly. I have been out of work for almost 1 month and have not gotten to a resolution.

Desired outcome: All I ask is to have the transmission replaced so that the truck operates properly in a timely manner.

AAMCO Transmissions Fluid leaks (transmission and engine), shocks, front differential, check engine light

12-30-2022
The truck was smelling with fluids (driving home and still leaking today (01-15-2022)}, shocks not working, front differential making noises. Why change oil pan gasket? (Did not ask for it). Should check front differential! The (ABS & TRACTION) Iights were NOT on when I left the truck, just the check engine light and air bag lights. Deeply dissatisfied (spend $1300 Car Rental, plus $5970.99). Told me to come back in a few weeks? I called for an appointment, waiting for response. I cannot afford to rent a vehicle again. I spent a lot of money for confidence. Why This!

Desired outcome: Fix shocks, Front differential and fluid leaks

AAMCO Transmissions Poor work performance

My brakes abruptly required intense pressure to operate. I brought my truck to AAMCO on N. Florida Ave. in Tampa on the morning of 11/22/2021. I was told they required a part to fix the problem and it could take some time. The next afternoon I went to pick up my truck. I was told they had installed a brake booster and that the brakes worked fine now and that they "even added a little cushion to them." Whatever that meant. They charged me $659.68. The moment I placed my foot on the brake to start it up, I could feel that it was still like stepping on a cinderblock. I had to return to work, I had no way to get home if I returned the truck to them, they'd just lied to my face, so it's not like I could trust them to fix the issue. The next day after work, I took the truck to AAMCO in Plant City. The mechanic who test drove it declared it "unsafe to drive"! They couldn't understand why the truck had even been returned to me by the Tampa AAMCO without fixing the issue it had been brought there for. Short-handed, I was told they couldn't work on it for days. The next day I brought it to the Toyota dealership in Lakeland and described the problem and told them what had been done to it. Three hours later they told me that the brake booster had not been installed properly and a loose bolt was causing it to shift. They charged me $82.77. Why would you tell a customer their brakes were working fine when it was obvious they were not? Did they not test drive it? As mentioned, I knew the problem was still there before I even started it up to leave! They actually moved the truck from where they'd parked it to closer to the office so I could take it home... so whomever drove it KNEW the brakes were still astonishingly stiff! So, how do you come up with a story that everything's fine when it isn't? Why lie? How do you do a sloppy job like that and not know it?

Desired outcome: It would be nice if they refunded the cost to get the problem that they didn't fix fixed, and I wouldn't mind being refunded the labor cost for installing the brake booster since they failed to resolve the initial complaint.

AAMCO Transmissions Warranty Coverage

I have a life-time warranty on my transmission. It was obtained when my 1971 Pontiac had it's transmission rebuild in 1973 at Aamco Morrow, GA. I have had my transmission serviced every year since per my original contract. July 13, 2021 I took my car to Aamco Warrenton, VA because it was leaking fluid. They pulled the transmission and sent it to Aamco Winchester, VA. They fixed a bad seal on the air pump. When I picked up the car, returned home I saw that it was leaking worse than before. I returned this to Aamco Warrenton and I was sent to Aamco Fredericksburg Virginia because Aamco Warrenton did not have anyone to fix; they said the torque converter was leaking. All of this was at the direction of regional manager Michael Macoff. Aamco Fredericksburg said the cause was the engine crankshaft and they could not replace the torque converter until I had the crankshaft fixed. The car has a new engine with less than 3000 miles on it. I next took my car back to the shop that had installed the engine. They checked the crankshaft and said nothing was wrong with it and allowed me to watch them check and explained how they were able to show the crankshaft was not the problem. When they pulled the pan they also found metal shavings in the transmission oil and said the torque converter clearly had play in it and that the transmission needed at this point replacement or rebuilt. I contacted Michael Macoff via Ricky at the Aamco Winchester, VA store. Ricky who was familiar with my car said that they would probably have my builder do the repairs because it was on the lift at his shop but that he had to contact Michael Macoff first who was out with Covin. He called me back and said the shop in Warrenton VA had been sold on 10-1-21 so he could no longer be involved. That I needed to take the car back to the Warrenton Aamco shop. I called Bobby the new Aamco owner of Warrenton Aamco. He checked with his regional manager and came back to me that I should take my car to Aamco in Harrisonburg, VA which is the closest to where my car is on the lift at Mt Crawford, VA. About 6 miles away. I called the new owner at Harrisonburg Aamco and he said he didn't have any bays available to dignoise my car.
The shop where my car is now on the lift said he can install a new transmission and torque converter for $2500, all in including labor. He is offering me a discount because of the amount of business I have done with him in the past.
I WOULD LIKE THE OWNER OR HIS MECHANIC FROM THE HARRISONBURG AAMCO TO COME TO THE SHOP WHERE MY CAR IS CURRENTLY LOCATED AND EVULUATE MY TRANSMISSION THERE AND AUTHORIZE THE NEEDED REPAIRS.
I have been trying for 5 months to get my transmission fixed while taking my car to various Aamco shops as requested. It is now at the shop that installed the engine per the request of Aamco and I am not inclined to move it again without being fixed. I have been told numerous times that Warrenton Aamco and other Aamco's are not able to repair my transmission do to lack of skilled mechanics. It is now at a place where I know it can be repaired properly.
I am asking for approval for the repairs to be made at Custom Autoworks and they be paid the $2500.

Frankly I am tired of trying to get Aamco to honor there contract for 5 months and if this can't be resolved at this stage I will turn this over to my lawyer and at that point the requested amount to cover all of my cost will be much higher.
Regards,
Ralph Wright

PS: I do have a lot more detailed information and emails and invoices from Winchester, Warrenton and Fredericksburg Aamco's.

Desired outcome: Pay to fix my transmission as per contact

AAMCO Transmissions Reprogramming transmission

A couple weeks ago, I was told to take my 2011 Subaru Outback to the local Aamco place in Melbourne Florida. I took the car over and dropped it off for diagnosis on a Friday. On Monday of the following week, they called me and said that the transmission was low i=on fluid, and tat the pan was dented. They suggested they straighten the pan, check for debris in the pan and fill with fluid. also reprogram the transmission, The total estimate for the repair was 425. After they had the car for a couple days, they called me and said they could not re-program the transmission, and that all of the wheel bearings were making noise now. They recommended to take the car to a Subaru Dealer to complete the repairs. I went to pick up the car, and was charged full price for the original repairs and was threatened to be thrown out of the shop and they would impound my car. I will make sure that place does not get any business from anyone I know. They are the worst, They can't diagnose problems, and have terrible customer relations.

Desired outcome: I want my money back with the exception of the 6 quarts of fluid they put into the transmission.
