Hughesnet offers poor and expensive service
I signed up with Hughesnet. Unfortunately, problems began immediately. They charged me $199. 99 for standard installation of the dish, but when their contractor came out to install, he said he had to do a special install. This costs me an additional $288. HughesNet sucks!
Are you kidding me? My HughesNet runs at 2Kb or about 14 times slower than dial-up, yet costs $60 a month. I can cancel my 15 month contract at a cost of $700, so you figure it out. The installer was so fat he couldn't climb on the roof so he charged me $132. 50 which is a scam for the installer to make extra money, to install a pole into the ground...

Dealing with HughesNet was a huge mistake!
service page of the Hughesnet site thing my serial # to the modem and my account # were different from the account # on the statement they have this all clusterf**ked! I told them that since opening an account with them it has been nothing but an inconvenience. they don't care and it's still not resolved the last 2 times I was on hold forever it seemed and then afterwards they say you'll be contact within 24 to 48 hrs...

Installation rebate run-around

Rip off
I have had Hughesnet for 9 months now and if I'm lucky I've maybe had good internet service for 2 months. Most of the time it is slower than dial up that is if I have any internet at all. For the last 6 days I've been getting that Hughesnet cannot connect to the TCP so I haven't even had slow internet, but I bet they don't reduce their high cost of it...

i had hughesnet installed at my house on jan 22 2010 the sales dept told me it would work fine with my ps3 game system so they come hooked all the stuff up the installer left my house with out checking the service he told me it will work great and that he was very busy and had to move on to the next one...

I plan to call Hughesnet today at 1-877-337-3880. I caled the other day to another phone number they had listed and was told the call could not be completed as dialed. I caled (2) more times to make sure I was not making a dialing error myself. but same message came up each successive time...

Hughesnet publishes (see FAQ 03-Connection speeds) that a Pro Plan subscribeer will geet up to 1. 0 Mbps, with typical speeds of about 650-750 Kbps during peak times. They are right about the speed of 650-750, but its all day long! Peak hours are 24 hrs to them, not just a cuple of hours when everyone is checking email or whatever...

option available is Hughesnet. I pay nearly $80/month for their premium home service which is supposed to be 1. 6Mbps downlink and 250Kbps uplink. Oh, and don't forget that I have a 250Mb limit on downloads. If I go over, my speed is throttled to less than dial-up speeds for a 24 hour period, beginning from the time I went over the limit...

Horrible all around service
tier of service from HughesNet. The pages load horribly slowly. I let my computer download a YouTube clip that was 1minute and 32 seconds long and with HughesNet it took 47 hours before I finally gave up. Keep in mind the video never did fully load. When the "technician" came to my house to install my huge eyesore of a dish in my yard he didn't bury the cable from the dish to the house...

Terrible Internet service ands support
I have been with Hughesnet formerly DirecPC for almost 8 years, they are the worst company I have ever worked with. Terrible product, terrible service. Now they have a policy if you are on the basic service - which is 65. 00 per month, if you exceed there given downloads, your speed gets downgraded for 24 hrs...

Simply worst
HughesNet is so slow you can't even get their own web page to load to try and get help. The no-service customer agents have no authority and don't speak English. The standard customer service call makes you repeat your information and complaint to 3-4 different people who do not speak English, then they put you on hold for a long time and then they give you a worthless case number for future non-productive calls...

Last March, I spent $500 to get HughesNet satellite internet, because there was no cable or dsl in my area at the time. I continued spending $70/month + $5/month invoice fee for 1Mbps/200kpbs upstream speed internet that is slower than cable, dsl, and stops working after using only 375MB of bandwith in a 1-2 day period...

Terrible service
'fix' my Hughesnet satellite system AGAIN. According to them there is nothing wrong with my equipment. I was also just on the phone with customer support asking about the terrible upload and download speeds I have been having. The speeds I am getting right now at this moment are LESS than HALF of what was advertised/promised when I began this nightmare over a year ago...
